They responded to the original call immediately and arrived earlier than the time window they had given me. The problem was diagnosed and I was given an estimate of costs within ten minutes. They returned with the parts at my convenience and completed the job in 20 minutes. Very professional. They honored the $20 Angies discount coupon without any question.

The first time I called to make an appointment my message wasn't returned. The second time I called I was able to make an appointment easily and for a date and time that were quite soon. The repairman showed up during the window promised and quickly diagnosed the problem. He had to return on another day with the part and did so again at the time promised and gave me a call ahead of time, also as promised. The experience was a very smooth one.

Appointment was made easily and quickly. The service repair man explained the options and the parts required. We authorized the repair and they ordered the parts. Two days later they came installed and were done as promised.

He couldn't answer my questions, and when I tried explaining what was happening to my dryer, he said I needed to blowout the vents. I told him I had done that already, so he then suggested that it could be a problem with the thermostat, which I said I had already considered. He then said he didn't know what else to say. I was frustrated with the problems communicating with him over the phone, so I decided not to try and get him to come out.

He was very prompt. He came the same day we called for the repair and came within the appointed time. There was no mess when he left. He was very nice and polite. The repairman was John and he was a very good worker. I thought the price was high, but they let us use the Angie's List coupon and the service was worth it. We had called another company but 5th Avenue replied quicker.

The people setting up the appointments were flexilbe and accomodating - I had to change the appointment a few times. The serviceman came once to diagnose the problem and give me an estimate. He then returned several days later with the parts to do the work. He was professional and courteous. The first time he arrived about 5 minutes before the end of the three hour window they gave me, but the second time he arrived early. He fixed the oven in about 10 -20 minutes which was great - but it cost a small fortune. If it were not such a huge ordeal to completely replace the oven, I would've gone that route instead.

The serviceman failed to diagnose the problem. He gave our refrigerator a precursory glance and said the "board" for the thermostat and defroster controls needed to be replaced. He called to order parts and told me we would be without a refrigerator for 5 days because it was a Friday and the parts would not ship out until Monday. He said to throw out all of our food. When my husband got home from work he unplugged the fridge, plugged it back in and hit the reset button and the fridge started to work again. The charge for the estimate appointment was $60 and the serviceman said that labor to replace the thermostat/defroster "board" would be $120 and the new part would be $117 -- because of his poor diagnosis, we almost forked over $300 for a repair we didn't need!

I'm a happy customer. I had originally called different company, when the fridge was just grumbling and not making ice, and they were going to charge $400 for the replacement of the ice-maker alone--so we said no thanks and began making our ice in trays the old fashioned way. Plus that original technician, who had been having a bad day, creeped me out a bit. I liked 5th Ave's technician, Victor, who was prompt, courteous, capable. He called as soon as the new parts came in (just a few days later) and came over when he said he would.

The person who took the call managed to get me an appointment fairly quickly. The technician was on time and courteous. He got the replacement piece within less than an hour. But boy it was expensive!

10-year-old Amana refrigerator was not cooling; food was spoiling. Called 5th Avenue Appliances at 8 AM 6-18-09. They called back at 8:32AM. Scheduled service call between 11 - 2, same day. Man (Frank) came at 1:10. Courteous. Vacuumed under refrigerator. Fixed problem. $95 minimum for house call, he charged only half his hourly rate ($70 usually), as he was here only a short time. Supposed to give a senior citizen discount (I'm 70), but didn't. Said it only applies to parts. Misleading promotion.

victor is a nice guy & showed up early, he called first which was great. he went right to the problem, which was the fan was blocked by ice buildup which kept the fan from moving. I had had the same thing fixed a month before & wondered if this was a bigger problem than some ice buildup---WHY was the ice building up?--and he said, they don't make them like they used to. He fixed the problem, and the shabby repair job the first guy did, but I have the same problem again, now, a week later. fridge doesnt work. I'm going to call him tomorrow & see if he can fix the bigger problem I thought might have existed before. I'm a little disappointed he didn't look a bit further to figure out the underlying prob in the first place.

I called several repair shops that service Manhattan and Fifth Ave had the most reasonable "service call fee" and could come the next day. They showed up in the window of time they (repairman and his teenage son) gave me, had the needed part with them and completed the work in approximately 45 minutes. It seemed a little expensive for just a gasket but it did fix the problem and 2 months later the dryer is still working fine.

My GE gas range's oven was not heating. I left a message on Friday afternoon, and they called me back on Saturday and made an appointment for Monday, 10-1. They said the problem sounded like the igniter was not working and assured me that the repairmen would arrive with a new part; it was also made clear what the charge for a service call would cost. Philip and his assistant arrived at 11 on Monday. He carefully took the door off and had a look. He discovered that the problem was indeed the igniter and replaced it with the part he had brought, which took less than half an hour. Then he heated the oven to make sure that it was working; he told me that this was important because sometimes a new part can break immediately due to the temperature change (it was cold outside). Everything worked fine, and they put the range door back on. While Philip was writing up the bill (which was the price quoted on the phone, plus parts and labor), he took the time to discuss the life expectancy of the range, and of my other kitchen appliances, in response to my questions. Philip and his assistant were friendly and professional, and the whole job went according to plan. Incidentally, I found this company through Angie's List the week before, to fix my mother's refrigerator. A different repairman did that job, and a minor miscommunication necessitated a second visit, but the job was completed without an additional charge (and the miscommunication may have been my mom's fault--I wasn't there!). The company is very responsive when you call, and I would absolutely use them again.

CHRIS ARRIVED AT THE APPOINTED TIME (BETWEEN 9 AND NOON). HE CALLED AHEAD TO LET ME KNOW HE WOULD BE HERE WITHIN HALF AN HOUR, I APPRECIATED THAT. HE WAS PREPARED WITH TOOLS AND READY TO DIAGNOSE. THE OVEN WAS AN EASY FIX, JUST THE LEVER. HE LISTENED CAREFULLY TO THE ICE MAKER, CHECKING THE PANEL. HE DECIDED THAT HIS ASSOCIATE, PATRICK WOULD BE THE EXPERT. I WAS CHARGED FOR ONLY ONE SERVICE CALL ALTHOUGH TWO REPAIR MEN ACTUALLY CAME. PATRICK WORKED VERY HARD AT THE DIAGNOSIS AND DECIDED THAT MY MOTOR HAD BURNED OUT, A COST OF APPROXIMATELY $800 IN TOTAL. HE TOLD ME THE REFRIGERATOR AND FREEZER WERE FINE, JUST THE ICE MAKER MOTOR. HE ACTUALLY SUGGESTED THAT A NEW FRIDGE WOULD COST JUST A LITTLE MORE AND MAYBE THE EXPENSE WAS NOT WORTH THE REPAIR! I NOW HAVE A NEW COUNTER TOP ICE MAKER THAT COST $200. BY THE WAY, THEY DO NOT SELL APPLIANCES, ONLY SERVICE THEM. THANK YOU!

The washing machine stopped draining, leaving clothes standing in water. Called 5th Avenue on a Monday, very pleasant folks who wanted to personally thank our Super for the referral. They gave us a window of 12p-4p on Tuesday. He arrived at 3:30p. The gentleman knew what the problem was as soon as he heard the noise. He opened the machine, removed the pump and examined it and determined it had not been damaged and did not need to be replaced. He then dislodged numerous coins that had found their way there, presumably from our three-year old son's clothing. He then drained the entire machine and ran it to make sure it worked. Very pleasant gentleman. Also warned me that my particular model washing machine had an average 7-year lifespan.

I THOUGHT THAT THEIR PRICE WAS OUTRAGEOUS. OTHER THAN THE PRICE, THEY ARE PRETTY GOOD. THE QUALITY OF THE REPAIR AND THEIR GENERAL RESPONSIVENESS WERE EXCELLENT.

THEY WERE A GREAT COMPANY. THE PRICE WAS FANTASTIC. THEY GOT MY STOVE WORKING EXTREMELY FAST. THEY NEVER CREATED OR LEFT A MESS AROUND MY HOUSE AND KITCHEN.

I THOUGHT THAT THEY WERE VERY PROFESSIONAL WITH THEIR WORK. I THOUGHT THAT THEY DID A REALLY GOOD JOB. THEY SHOWED UP WHEN THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO. WE DIDN'T HAVE ANY PROBLEMS WITH THEM.

THIS COMPANY DID A WONDERFUL JOB OF DIAGNOSING THE PROBLEM QUICKLY. THE DISHWASHER WAS FIXED IN A TIMELY MANNER. THIS COMPANY IS EXTREMELY PROFESSIONAL AND KNOWLEDGEABLE.

THEY DIDN'T COME OUT AT FIRST FOR A FEW DAYS BUT WHEN THEY DID COME, THEY WERE ON TIME AND DID A GOOD JOB. THEY HAD TO REPLACE IT AGAIN AND WHEN I CALLED THE THIRD TIME FOR IT, THEY JUST BROUGHT ME A NEW DRYER. I AM SATISFIED WITH THE COMPANY.

I HAVE A CONTRACT WITH THEM AND THE SERVICE MAN CAME OUT TO REPLACE THE TOP PART OF THE STOVE AND QUOTE ME A PRICE. HE SHOWED UP AND LOOKED AT THE STOVE AND SAID HE WOULD CALL BACK WITH A PRICE AND NEVER SHOWED UP OR CALLED AGAIN.

THEY SHOWED UP WITHOUT THE PARTS WHEN WE SPECIFICALLY STATED WHAT WAS WRONG. THEY DEMANDED WE MAKE ANOTHER APPOINTMENT. THEY DID NOT ARRIVE WHEN THEY SAID THEY WOULD AND THE PARTS THEY INSTALLED FAILED THREE DIFFERENT TIMES.

THEY SHOWED UP EXACTLY WHEN THEY SAID THEY WOULD. THEY CHARGED US A FAIR PRICE. THEY EVEN BROUGHT OUT AN EXTRA PART THAT WE HAD NEEDED. THEY WERE FINISHED VERY QUICKLY. THEY CLEANED UP THEIR MESS WHEN THEY WERE DONE.

MY REFRIGERATOR IS COLD AND NO LONGER HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT ANY MY FOOD SPOILING. THE REPRESENTATIVE WAS PROFESSIONAL AND KNOWLEDGEABLE OF THE JOB HE WAS DOING.
