Description of Work: Requested visit for slow draining bathroom sink. Gentleman arrived on time, plunged drain, educated on how to plunge in the future and also explained why my drains make so much noise. Did not charge for visit. Very responsive and will definitely use if needed in the future!

Description of Work: Had hot water heater installed. They were professional and did a good job. Everything is working well and the plumber was very helpful. They did mix up the day that they were supposed to come out to install the water heater, but sent someone out that day soon after I called to let them know of the mix up.

Description of Work: Replaced Water heater on weekend due to leaking old one. All went well.

Description of Work: Replaced my broken natural gas 40 gallon hot water heater. Needed it immediately because we were hosting out of town guests. They were very responsive, came even sooner same day due to a prior cancellation. Job was performed quickly and neatly, personnel showed professionalism and courtesy.

Description of Work: We had older pipes draining our bathroom tub and sink. They eventually broke down and leaked down to our kitchen through our ceiling. We knew it would be a major job and were quite nervous, especially since our usual plumber didn't want to undertake the job. Access to these pipes was difficult. Dave looked at our problem and assured us that he could do the job. It ended up being an all day job that went very well.

Description of Work: Checked out a leak in my garage from somewhere in my house. He discovered my sump pump was not working and replaced sump pump. However, he was unable to find the source of the leak after cutting into drywall in 2 places. He indicated he would need to do major cutting if he were to find it,and his initial investigation revealed nothing from the washing machine, basement, or upstairs, yet we both saw the water evidence in the garage. I did not have much confidence that the source would be found so I decided not to continue tearing up the house. He told me to keep an eye on it. I have very ambivalent feelings about this. The plumber seemed to be a nice guy but the results were disappointing.

Description of Work: I had a corroded pipe that was causing leaking in the walls leading to the basement from my kitchen sink. It was a Saturday and I had family visiting. Penfield Plumbing arrived very quickly(the only positive experience was their responsiveness). The technician used a "plumbing snake" to first see if there could be an obstructuon. He determined that there was but could not get it out. He then said we would need to open up the basement floor and re-pipe the entire length from kitchen to the sewer drain in the basement floor and would come back after I spoke with their secretary Monday Morning to arrange an appt. He then proceeded to give me a $265 invoice. I told him that I should be paying something as it was an emergency after hours(weekend) call, but not $285 especially given that he didn't fix the problem. He called the owner and again no reduction in price. He worked off of a price menu vs actual work performed. He left and had his secretary call back on Tuesday and she provided a $650 quote to fix the problem over and above the $265. |In the meantime, I had another plumber come in on Sunday and for $175, solved the problem by redirecting the water from the corroded pipe to another pipe that could handle the kitchen sink flow. Penfield Plumbing is extremely over priced and does not care at all about reputation or future business. This by the way is not coming from a person who's feelings were hurt, it was poor customer service. I am so glad that this opportunity came up to voice my customer experience on Angie's list as hopefully others will benefit from their ridiculous pricing and lack of innovative thinking as well as assuming customers will pay and do what ever they recommend. |

Description of Work: install sink/faucet in the kitchen island and it turned out well. I believe the price was a higher because he thought he`d have to place the pipes over the heating duct. Which was not the case as I placed the island sink cabinet between the adjacent floor joist. But these guys were good and it works as it should, Yes I will call the for future work.
