The plumbers used the latest technology, a specialty camera to view the drain pipes content. I found that amazing.

I wrote a very positive review in 2013 when the same contractor connected our new sink to the existing plumbing. 3 years later, in 2016, I had a leak in the cooper portion of the drain pipe 30 feet downstream from the sink. I was happy with Penfield Plumbing the first time, so I called them back. There was a 4 day wait to get someone out there, and I expected the work to be estimated and completed in one trip. However, the technician was late, and when he looked at the situation he said he did not have time to do it and needed to schedule another appointment to completely re-run the drain from the sink all the way to the block wall in the basement. There was a $150 charge for the call and estimate, which would be applied to the job if they did it. I was not happy for the 2 vacation events, and the prolonged inability to use the kitchen, but I agreed to go ahead. The job ended up costing about $500. It looked professional, but it took over a week from first call to final repair. Now 2 years later that new section of PCV sprung a leak at a joint. In fact the joint pulled right apart. I called when I found this, on a Saturday, and was told it was out of warrantee and it would cost $255 to have emergency service. I could wait until Monday, and this would be $150 minimum for the call unless it was obvious that there was a negligent installation. I elected to spend $13 on PCV cleaner and cement and to weld the joint together again myself. There was no evidence of cement in the separated joint, both surfaces were still as-molded glossy. I find it hard to believe that it was unglued and stayed together for 2 years, but I also know that properly cemented joints do not come apart without breaking something. The person on the phone was professional and listened to my situation with sympathy, but he was simply not authorized to step out from the policies and guidelines. So beware; this company can do excellent work if you get the right technician, but the price is high and there is no override for what appears to be a clear defective installation.

The plumber did a very good job. He was good at diagnosing the problem, very neat and clean in his work, and took a lot of time to make sure the job was done right and that there were no leaks when he was done.

There was a problem with the toilet and they came the next day and replaced it.

They discovered that a more expensive heater was needed but did not up the price agreed in the estimate

They came here the same day I called and within 2 hours I had a new water heater. He wore booties before stepping on my carpet which I appreciated. Very pleased.

Rob showed up on time. He was very unfriendly. he did not keep me in loop about what he was doing. when he left there was broken branch of tree where the truck was parked.

I obtained several estimates for this job. There was one estimate significantly lower -- about $200 less. I decided not to go with that as it was so far off from the other estimates I got. I selected Penfield having read all the reviews and b/c they sold Bradford White water heaters which I had read good things about. Rob came for the estimate and installed the water heater. He was on time, professional, and polite -- a very pleasant fellow. He installed the water heater, took the old one away, and left the area clean -- nice. After I had gotten the estimate I found a coupon on Angie's List for a discount on water heater installation. I thought that they wouldn't honor it since I didn't present it when Rob came for the estimate. I was pleasantly surprised that they did accept the coupon. So I saved a little money.

I think they did a good job. They were very professional, I was very happy with them. They did a good job with that.

All the plumbing problems I called about were fixed.

Penfield Plumbing came in and charged me $262!!!! to diagnose the problem by running a camera down the drain. All they told me was they got about 10 feet and it was clogged with dirt. The other 2 vendors charged nothing for the diagnostics and had more detailed information about the problem. The write up for Penfield was the least detailed and in the end they wanted $1300 more to fix the problem. I went another way.

They did a great job. It turned out to be a lot of work but I'm very happy with the results.

Pressure regulator - took time to explain why replacement would be best option in a 32 year old regulator. Needed to order correct regulator to do the job right. Looked at the upstairs tub and was very honest about what I thought was the problem. Showed me why stack was still working, said it wouldn't be a good idea to snake pipes, and said I could easily fix myself with cheap Walmart devise that cleans hair from drains . (No charge for the advice) Kitchen Sink Plugged - Wow..great explanation of what was going on and why my problems recurred. Original installation of double sink plumbing was done improperly. It was also discovered that the stack was probably plugged therefore creating "gurgling". Solved all problems and always gave me "options' advising of cost. To be on the "safe" side, I also chose to have the line snaked to clear out any residual grease. They advised how I should handle rinsing food off dishes.....don't use hot water as it will cause grease to melt and collect on pipes as it travels down cold pipes. Haven't had a problem since.

I've probably been using them for ten years. I like the quality of their work and their price. They cleaned up very well. It took them a couple of days to complete the work.

Called about a cancellation. showed up within 20 min. of letting me know. Work was performed successfully and job done within 55 min. after arrival. Jim was very professional. He did a fine job. Thank you>

It went great! He showed up on time and took time to measure everything out, make sure everything would fit nicely. Everything was installed without issue. He was also very professional and friendly.

It went very poorly. They did not show up until 4 PM the following day. The technician left large storage bins full of sewer water all over the basement. He was difficult to understand and quite unpleasant on the phone when I talked with him. Penfield Plumbing had serviced this line before and promised to consult their "expert" about what needed to be done to prevent the problem from occurring again. They never got back to me.

I had several plumbers give me a quote. This plumber's cost was much better than the others due to the fact that they didn't try to get me to buy unnecessary parts/services. Other plumbers tried to get me to replace my pump without even investigating the problem. He also let us know that for the price of parts needed for the toilet and replacing the wax seal, we could practically buy a new toilet and have it installed for a 100 or so more which I did. He was quick and efficient. Turns out the sump had a build up of fat from a food service place that used to be next door. Nothing wrong with the pump or float level.

Very well. Wayne Beyers knows what has to be done and seems to work well with Rochester officials.

I called and left a message and they did call me back. Told me that they could have someone come to help between 12 and 2. I asked them specifically, "will you be able to install a new pump even though we don't have power? they answered yes. "today?" yes. A person showed at 12:30, sat down at my table and proceeded to write up a $1200 estimate. We asked when will you install? This guy had no idea! He said that we had to call the office to schedule! IN the middle of a power outage with water in our basement - what???? While the Penfield Plumber was finishing his paperwork, I called a neighbor who was also in need of a new backup. He gave me his plumber's number. While Penfield Plumbing was walking out the door, I had Brian on the phone who had a pump and said he would try to get to me by the end of the day, if not them tomorrow. So Penfield Plumbing gave me a piece of paper, Brian came after he installed my neighbors pump, it was 7 p.m. He also installed ours - same pump quoted at $1200 by Penfield Plumbing for $400 less and during an emergency. Brian gained a customer for life. Penfield Plumbing earned an F+ and we'll never call them again.

Problem was not fully resolved and came back within days so a second visit was required.

They sent a tech the next day. The toilet was replaced and the old one taken away. A few days later, we noticed water around the toilet and called them. They sent someone right away. A piece of the flushing mechanism was faulty. It was replaced at no additional charge. We were very satisfied.
