 + -1 moreMy daughter came to me with a computer virus, and anyone who has a college student knows that is the end of the world! It was late Friday night and I resorted to Angie's list...found White Wolf....with 15 As listed and great recommendations. We called early Saturday....leaving the message....We ended up using an Office Max to remove the virus but Robert called back....appologized for not answering my distress call sooner....clearly he did not need to do that.... He offered ideas and was a good resourse of info!!!! He is an alumni of the college my daughter is in and said if his help is needed, she will get a Siena discount....He's the man!!!! Thanks Robert!!!

 + -1 moreI called to describe problems with the computer, they explained my options, as well as cost, and mde appoinment to bring in computer. Indays later they followed up less than one week I had my computer back with a 20% discount. 10 days later a follow up phone called was received asking how are things with the computer.
Description of Work: Removed all spyware and virsuses on harddrive. Re-image computer, as well as backed up all data and reinstalled.

 + -1 moreOverall it went very well. It took just one more day than estimated, but that wasn't a problem for me.
Description of Work: Since having a PC in my home for decades, this was the first time I had contracted a virus. A pop-up kept coming up without any reason and calling itself, Security Shield, (a name I didn't recognize, although it does have an official appearance on screen) and saying on screen that I had picked-up an extremely dangerous virus. Security Sheild pop-up, bordered in serious red, would not let me do anything on my PC, but SS could fix everything if I put my credit card number in and allowed a $79 charge. Sensing this felt very skeevy I resisted the frustration with being locked-out and never put my cc number in. Instead I searched Angie's List and found White Wolf with good ratings. I decided to give it a chance as had no experience with a computer repair shop. I'm happy I went to them.White Wolf was very helpful on the phone and told me that I had done the right thing by NOT submitting any cc numbers. I brought the pc to them and left it. They called within 24 hours to say they couldn't just remove the virus they had to save my data to their server, then wipe everything out on mine and get it back to a beginning state, then load my data back onto my pc when it was safe. They did that and everything seems to be work well now. The price seemed fair and was actually $10 less than their phone estimate. Just a note here, when I did get my "cleaned" pc back I had to reload the original software programs that I use. That's not fun, but not a big deal either.I will go to White Wolf again should I need service. They were also quite pleasant about answering my telephone questions. The place is a little tricky to find as the only entrance I noticed was through a workout gym on Central Ave. The people running the gym were helpful in accepting my pc for White Wolf. Very helpful.

 + -1 moreRobert arrived almost exactly on time and went over both my printer and my computer. Gave me lots of good ideas on what might be wrong and also suggested it might be time for a new printer. He changed color cartridge in printer and that cleared up the problem. I was unable to exactly show him the problem with the computer so he suggested I call him when it happened next time and he could walk me through a correction on the phone. It was a very satisfactory visit and I am glad to have him on my Go-To List.
Description of Work: Computer was giving me a message that I did not know how to correct and printer was functioning OK on print but wouldn't print on copy. He cleaned some parts, and changed ink. Solved problem.

 + -1 moreI asked him recently to fix a printing problem on y wifes system. I have done this kind off thing for her computer many times. Could not do it this time. Rob came and , in a few minutes, he had the printer talking to each other as they should.
Description of Work: Rob who heads white wolf computers has been my computer service person for a long as he has been in this business--before even he started White Wolf. I enjoy his coming because he is a gregarious guy. He does a fine job from helping move from an old computer to a new one, to trouble shooting. His prices are reasonable.

 + -1 moreI called the office yesterday, talked to a woman who was both helpful and professional.... a good start to solving my problem....the owner of the company would be out to see me within 24 hours.....Rob came by as scheduled, was able to diagnose the problem within minutes.....had me up and running within a short period of time...he was professional, accommodating, personable and very knowledgeable ...who could ask for anything more?? Very happy with this service.......
Description of Work: Computer would not boot up.....Rob diagnosed the problem, removed the ram that was defective, took the parallel ram to be diagnosed and uncover which of the two were defective...meanwhile., he had me up and running within 20 minutes!! Cost yet to be determined...but when I talked originally to the office, I knew the rates were reasonable....

 + -1 moreThis is a professional and dedicated team. I was visiting Albany from out of town and had lost a critical folder on a portable drive. They worked on the drive over the weekend doing progressive data recovery efforts. This was done in 4 steps. I was kept current on the progress on each step. On Monday morning, a multi-hour run of recovery of each file on the drive was completed. When I went to their office to check out the files, I clobbered the data and the file recovery had to be repeated. Later on Monday, the recovery was completed. My lost files were recovered. I was thrilled to have recovered my critical files, but Robert felt the process should have gone smoother and that I had to make extra trips to look at the data. So, he did not charge me for the work. If I have any computer or file problems the next time I am in Albany, my first call will to to White Wolf

 + -1 moreI brought the computer, which had crashed and would not reboot, in to their office. There was an initial delay in getting back to me with the diagnosis. They were very apologetic and offered a 20% discount for the delay. From that point on everything was perfect including valuable professional advice.
Description of Work: Diagnosed a critical hard drive problem and gave me several options. I chose to replace the computer so they retrieved the data from the old drive and transferred it to the new machine.

 + -1 moreI purchased a new HP printer with a fax, scanner and copier. Had trouble setting it up and called Robert at White Wolf computer. The next day Brandon came over at the scheduled time. Later on in the day I decided to print some documents and had trouble. I called White Wolf and for some reason my computer wasn't set-up on "C" drive also the printer wasn't set-up for the HP printer. They worked on the problem from their office and now it's working fine. Robert (the owner) e-mailed me (i wasn't home) and stated that if I had anymore problems just call. This is the second time I used White Wolf and I'm completely satisfied.

This is the best service I have ever had in my 25 years of relying on computers and at the most reasonable cost. Robert has always responded quickly and willingly makes on site visits. He has also advised me on computer purchases. White Wolf Computers is a rare and valuable service organization that I hope will be arround for the next 20 years.

 + -1 moreThis is probably the best repair experience I have ever had. Robert is such a nice person and was so easy to talk to about the computer problems. I am not technically sophisticated but Robert had me sit next to him at the computer and explained everything to me in a way that I could understand and he answered all my questions. He went through each and every problem with me and told me what had gone wrong and how it could be fixed. He had my computer up and running again, even better than it had been. His charges for the work he did were very reasonable and fair. Robert definitely knows what he is doing. He is polite and personable, while still being professional, and I was completely comfortable having him in my home. He even took his shoes off at the front door without being asked!
Description of Work: I had installed a new version of AOL that had made my computer unusable. I also had numerous additional problems outside of AOL that I had created by trying to fix things myself. Robert un-installed the new version and reinstalled the version I had been using previously. He fixed all the problems relating to my unsuccessful installation and also took care of other things that had been causing problems even before I tried doing the installation.

 + -1 moreRobert tried to help me solve the problem over the phone. When that didn't succeed, he made an appointment to come to my house a few days later, after I got home from work. He spent about 40 minutes resetting the modems, checking the computer, installing XP firewall and Mazilla Firefox. Tested several programs to be sure everything was working correctly and answered all my questions very patiently.
Description of Work: Reset modems, installed XP firewall and a couple free online programs to make my computer safer, explained everything he did.
