It took them a couple of days for the job. They were very professional, neat and clean. They were through. They had to chop up the cement slab to get to the pipes. They also filled in the cement when they were done. They cleaned up as well and made sure everything was working. They also bled the entire heating system to make sure it was working before they left. They were there when they said they would be and they stayed until the job got done. They did give me a $25.00 coupon for the next job I do with them.
Description of Work: We had a leak in a cement slab in the front of my house. They were able to detect that, find it and repair it too.

They were very professional. They were a little bit expensive though, we paid about $400.00. The service was good and the plumber was very clean too.

We like them. We used them in New York, and then when we moved here, we used them again. They are very upfront with their pricing, they tell you what the price is before they do the work, and it never goes over, it is what it is. They are very professional, and I love the fact that they give their pricing up front. The pricing was fine, and we had to wait a few days for them to come out, because they were booked. We would have liked it earlier, but we had to wait a few days. They came out on time. I am going to call them next week for something.

it was early morning and my toilet bowl stopped flushing. I had to go to work (in Manhattan) and couldn't leave my learning disabled youngster home with a broken toilet. I looked in the Yellow pages in Nassau County and found Benjamin Franklin. The plumber did a good job fixing the toilet bowl but I thought the price was way over the top. He repaired it in less than an hour and frankly, I know all he changed was the kit which sells at Home Depot for probably $20. I paid him $571 and, regrettably, I felt as though I was robbed. If he had charged me $300 - $325 I would have been more than satisfied but $571 for less than an hour's worth of work left a bad taste in my mouth. I hope this helps.

We had a leak in our kitchen faucet. It turned out it was just the simple tightening of a screw in the head. They tell you the initial fee is $69 on the phone, but it turned out to be $275. Tightening a screw costs $200? Completely ridiculous. When we asked about replacing our pot filler behind our stove, we were quoted $800. Keep in mind, we already have a pot filler, so it's only a matter of swapping the old one for the new one. Their prices are way, way too high. They were very punctual and professional, but unfortunately their prices are just too excessive. Will not use them again and will not recommend them.

He arrived before the promised 3PM start time, investigated our requests and gave us a written estimate which we accepted. Each item in the estimate is a fixed price from a menu that is used nation-wide. Since we live in the suburbs outside of NYC, that seems to imply a good rate for us since we would expect labor to be more expensive than many other parts of the country. He worked from around 2:30PM to almost 5:30PM. He was very careful to keep our floors clean. He replaced the water valve and flexible water supply hose leading to the toilet for no extra charge. He upgraded us to an oblong toilet from a round toilet for no extra charge. The new valves for the outside water spigots were installed with the new quarter-turn type, very nice. Overall, I was pleased with the quality of the work and the parts that were used. I had not done any shopping around, but I had the impression that the embedded labor rate was much higher than I could have gotten if I had shopped around.
Description of Work: Called them on a Sunday around 1:30PM when I noticed the valve in the basement to turn on the house's outside water was leaking (I had just turned on the outside water for the hoses for the spring season). I had the guy replace both of the house's outside water shutoff valves including the outside water spigots. Our toilet was leaking into itself and I had been planning on replacing the toilet, so I had that also done at the same time. He removed the old toilet and installed a new toilet for us.

They are awesome. This is the second time they have come to the rescue. Both service call were about small repairs that turned out (legitimately) to be plumbing disasters. The first visit was for a toilet that was not flushing properly. It turned out that the line from the toilet was completely broken (as in sheared off!) and the only reason the toilet was flushing at all was gravity. A day and a half we were back in business (thanks Anthony!). More recently they made an urgent visit two days before to repair a leak that we discovered while installing a new dishwasher. While the repair man was there he check out a few other plumbing issues and ended up spending the day with us. Dave even came back the next day after a full day of work to check on his work. These guys are the best! They are pricey but so professional.

A professional job, just very expensive. Mostly labor, paying lawyer's rate for plumber's work.

My wife called Ben Franklin without my knowledge. I got a call from my wife that the plumber was there and she wanted me to talk to him. He said he would try to repair the old valves for $400 but if he could not and had to put new valves it would be $800. I was busy at work so I just said okay. When I got home and my wife told me it was $2000 I was in shock. He told her that it was more involved to replace the valve than he thought and the drain was not working well so he had to also fix that. He took advantage of the situation of me not being there.

They were very neat and professional, but the price was ridiculous. I could have bought another refrigerator for that money. He just had to drill a hole and hook up the refrigerator. They were a ripoff. I thought they were going to be a decent company, but they were horrible. He did the job, and I guess I was pleased with the quality of the work.

The first time cost 400 when the house was about 7 years old. Two years later, it was dripping again. I called BF again because I thought they'd give me break on the price since it was their work that failed after only about 3 years. This time they charged $600. I was also told that the whole unit had to be replaced. The drip was repaired but the serviceman put the regulator in incorrectly so that I could only turn the handle far enough to get cold water. Again, I had to use a different shower. The repairman I just had in today said the unit had not been replaced - it was rebuilt. He fixed my problem and only charged $20 for 10 minutes of work. The only good think I can say about Benjamin Franklin is that they were prompt. I think their prices are outrageous and they absolutely do not stand behind their work. My basement would have to be flooding with no other plumber available for me to ever call Benjamin Franklin again!

I had seen the truck in the neighborhood and thought that my neighbors used him. I thought of giving him a try. I had a valve that needed to be changed. Normally I do it myself but this was in a weird spot and I thought that I would pay someone about $120 to put it in. This person came out and gave me a price of $767. I was taken aback. I had another job where we needed to move some pipes from one wall to another by about two feet. He gave me an estimate of $2500 for it. I was flummoxed. I did not know what to say. I had to pay him $59 just to come out. My wife screamed at me and said that I should have refused the guy and I feel I should have done that. Later I called someone else. That person came and told me that the valve, which Benjamin Franklin Plumbing said would cost $767, did not even need to be replaced. It was loose and that person just tightened it. He even showed me how to do it. He said that he would not even charge me for it. He then looked at the other job and quoted $350 to move the pipes. The person from Benjamin Franklin Plumbing put on little booties when he came into the house. He put a little mat in front to wipe his feet on. It looked like it would be a professional job but he quoted a very high price. For $2500, I could have replaced the corking in the entire house. The booties did not impress me that much. I would have paid a little more to get the job done professionally but this was kind of ridiculous. I knew he would be expensive but this was beyond my expectations. I did not know what to say. He was a nice guy. He explained everything well but the price was high. He was here right on time. The price for the first job was more than double of what I expected would be the price for the second job. I only asked him for a quote on the second job only out of curiosity. I will not use him in the future and I will tell as many people as I can not to even bother calling him.

Company responded quickly on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Arrived promptly, and completed replacement of the kitchen faucet and related plumbing on the visit. Seemed over-priced to me, but on the other hand the service may have made up for at least some of this. Grade would be A except for price.
