Description of Work: I noticed on Angie's List, that ZENNER AND RITTER HOME SERVICES had a deal for a gas Water Heater for $750.00. Last year I had to replace a water heater due to a leak and it cost $1200.00 plus. The water heater I just replaced was approx 12 years old, I knew it would need to be replaced sooner rather than later. I saw the deal and decided not to wait for an emergency replacement. The price was great -there have been no problems and they cleaned all debris etc and that is a big deal for me.

Description of Work: This is a hard one to rate. Did not like the fact that they, the workmen lost/misplaced all the notarized paperwork I had to fill out for NYSERDA. There was no concern that our personnel information was "somewhere" out there. Workmen were polite but did not have a prompt schedule. Later (14 months) after new HVAC was installed found out there was water "leaking into bottom of the furnace and the pan was rusting. Only found this out while a home inspection was going on due to sale of the home. I must admit that after a second phone call, because my first one was not returned as promised, they sent someone out to the home to fix the problem. They did tell me there was no labor warranty because it had been 14 months. I did receive a bill for 99 dollars but they were kind enough to let that go due to the problem being a clamp was not tightened at installation. Although I had these issues I felt they did do a good job.

Description of Work: Our full house generator wasn't working. They came 9/12, got it running but it also needed a part. Part was ordered and installed on 10/1. Generator wasn't working after that. I called and they did a follow-up at no charge. |The generator is now working and we are very happy. They were extremely helpful and professional.

Description of Work: Where do I begin? To be brief, we had a new high efficiency boiler installed at a cost of approximately $8,000. After installation, we had no heat in our upstairs floor, and after numerous failed attempts to correct this, were told we would have to cut into our walls to find a blockage. We told them we would not do this, and to make a very long story short, they finally sent someone out who realized the installation team had not put in the necessary pump to run the boiler correctly. Apparently, they never realized we had two stories, despite conducting an energy audit and repeated visits to the house. Keep in mind that this happened last winter when temps were lucky to break teens and it was months before the problem was finally corrected.

Description of Work: They arrived when they said they would. Last year, Zenner & Ritter installed a new furnace and whole house air conditioner. They did a wonderful job, so I had no problem hiring them again to give both the furnace and air conditioner a check up. They also replaced the filter in the furnace. I will definitely use Zenner & Ritter again.

Description of Work: Service my furnace. I was easily able to schedule an appointment a little over a week after purchase of the Angie's list deal, which was fine since it was just a tune up. They showed up in the window provided (8am - noon) and performed the routine service. It took about an hour. There was an additional cost for the new filter...which I did need. Even with this, it was still cheaper than a typical tune up. There was no issues, and the technician providing the service was pleasant, straightforward about any additional costs, and easy to talk with. Overall a good experience, would use again.

Description of Work: Z & R provided and installed an 11 KW generator at our residence and did a good job for the most part. They could not locate the generator where we had originally discussed and I was not happy about that, but rather than send them away decided to live with it. It ended up further from the house and sticks out in the side yard too far, but they said they had to do that to make it conform to code. We were never told that when the generator was quoted or that might have changed our decision to proceed with J & R. None of the 3 contractors quoting brought up the location problem and code that was mentioned at time of install. Some of their scrap and garbage was placed in our recycle tote and I had to clean that out, but other than that they did a good job. Employees were friendly, courteous and completed the job in about 5 hours.
