My furnace stopped working last night and it was very cold out so the house was down to 40 degrees in the morning. I called Zenner & Ritter early and spoke with a very pleasant dispatcher. The tech arrived in less than 90 minutes, despite very bad road conditions. He quickly diagnosed the problem (bad exhaust fan - I could hear it grinding before it died). Fortunately, he had a replacement in the truck. He finished the job in less than an hour so I was just charged the $89.50 service call. I looked the part up at an online parts dealer, the the price was very comparable. The technician (Gary) was very pleasant and professional. He even did a cleaning while he was here. Finally, he gave me some maintenance recommendations. I would not hesitate to call them again and I recommend them very highly!

The service was good. I needed the battery, and so I thought it was a legitimate charge.

This was an excellent service since recently moved into this house. We did not know what needed replacement or what was actually providing fine power usage. We were able to put his information together and create a plan on what needed replacing now and in the spring, and down the road. Very personable, was there for about two hours to perform all his tests.

Just purchased a new house only to find that boiler was about to go. Another service provider came out to service it and quotes replacement prices that were just too high. Solicited quotes from 6 different companies. Zenner and Ritter provided a quote for a Buderus boiler that was about $500 lower than the same boiler from a competitor. Not the cheapest overall from all the companies, but right in the middle. Chose them because they were able to get the install done within a week. Techs were very friendly and kept the mess to a minimum and cleaned up well after the job. Only issue is we were to receive a rebate from the gas company that Zenner and Ritter were to send in for and we still have not received that rebate.

Cheaper than competion. Worked quickly. Just wish he would have worn shoe covers when coming in from the snow.

It took about 2 1/2 hours. First, the gentleman surveyed the house, checked the furnace with a variety of instruments, which helped to ascertain the effectiveness of my furnace. He drew air out of the house to get additional information. I got several good tips...what is the biggest bang for your energy buck....not windows and doors...but insulation. He also gave me a tip on suring up my windows where I am getting drafts and getting the furnace cleaned. The written report will be sent, but he summed it up by advising us about insulation and suggesting a company to do it, as Zenner and Ritter does not do insulation. Nice job... Turned out that a high carbon reading that we thought would be corrected by a cleaning..actually required a new furnace. The work was done efficiently by 3 men in about 7 hours..it was a huge job, including a humidifier and 2 stage furnace. We were pleased with the work.

We have been using their services for over six years when they installed a furnace for me. They have been around for a while and do good work. Their prices are competitive to others. When I had bids they actually came in lower than other places.

This is the second time I have used Zenner & Ritter, and I won't call anyone else but them in the future.

We got unusual ac with curved top...not easy to cover top for winter. So we did the best we could. Hopefully it will all be fine.

Technician came out promptly to evaluate the needs and reported findings to the engineer, but we never received our actual estimate despite several calls attempting to obtain this. Was really interested in the services from this company given the reviews on Angie's list. Technician was very knowledgeable and responsive but unclear why our estimate was never provided.

It worked out very well. After the assessment, the tech gave us a list of recommended fixes to help the home energy conversation. There were willing to do some of those services on an additional cost but we have not made a move on those yet. They were great.

They were punctual, professional, and very knowable about the product they were installing. It went very smooth and it went well.

They referred us to a number in Pennsylvania and they said they couldn't come out, which was on Wednesday. They then gave me a number for another company, Maine Plumbing and Heating. Zenner and Ritter should have taken care of the problem, but they pushed it off on another company.

The work was done thoroughly. The service technician answered all my questions. Other than the failure to talk off his shoes or wear shoe covers, I have no complaints, and I would use the service again.

The gentleman that showed to provide the estimate was very knowledgeable, and detailed in what the scope of work would be. He provided me 3 options, and pricing for each as well as a brochure on the equipment. I received estimates from a number of other local reputable HVAC contractors in the area, and as promised the would beat the best price of the same equipment. I scheduled the service, and the installers showed up right on time. The installation was quick and clean. They went through the checklist of what was done, and gave me a quick overview on the equipment. They ran the furnace to ensure it was working properly before leaving. They mailed me the rebate forms, along with the information needed to fill it out.

We received several estimates from other local heating and cooling companies and found that Zenner & Ritter were not only the most reasonable, but the most knowledgable and professional as well. The employee I spoke with took time to educate me so I could make an informed decision on what options were available. The installers were prompt, extremely professional, and very considerate of my home. They took the time to explain everything to me when the installation was complete. We were so pleased with the work, that we now use them for our routine generator maintenance. On a whim, I inquired about HEPA filters for my daughters bedroom. I had purchased a small unit from a local home goods store that was clumsy, difficult to clean and offered no relief of my daughter allergy symptoms. Zenner & Ritter provided several options in different price ranges so I best choose what worked for our family. In the end, we were very satisfied with our purchase. I highly recommend Zenner & Ritter. We will continue to use them for routine maintenance in the future.

The service provider who came to do the work was professional and nice to work with. Although he did not seem to be have a full understanding from his office what the work order completely entailed- after a call to the estimator and questions for me he understood fully the job and did great job.

The estimator showed up on time and was friendly and informative. As of 9/3/2013, I have yet to receive an estimate. I have sent 4 emails and made 4 calls (leaving a voice message twice and being promised by the customer service rep that she would get back to me-never did). I had one response to my email (3 weeks ago) promising that the estimate was forthcoming. I could accept a "sorry but we have more work than we can handle" but nothing has been forthcoming. I will not use this vendor in the future. UPDATE: Since the original review was posted, the owner of the company promptly contacted me. He was very apologetic, acknowledged the problem and explained the circumstances. He also offered to further discount the estimates. I plan on using their services and therefore I am updating my rating for this event. Some ratings could change based on my actual installation experience. 2nd Update: Since last update, I had the furnace installed and decided on a new AC compressor etc. The installers were very professional and the quality of the work was excellent. I was very impressed that the owner went out of his way to correct the problem and followed up with good service and price. I will use them again in the future.

Talked to a gentlemen on the phone, told him I knew what was wrong with the A/C and wanted a quote. He said he would have to send someone out to diagnose and charge me $89 for the diagnostic and .5 hours of work, and it could be more if the tech had the parts, or if they didn't it would take longer... I know what I need and he really didn't want to hear it, said it was company policy to send someone out, which is fine except that if he didn't show up with what I needed, it would cost me time and money. After trying to explain my problem, and him not wanting to hear it, I just told him that I had no use for the company. Disappointed cause they are probably a good company, but come off as a "your a customer and you couldn't possibly know what's wrong" stance... Bad first impression, and it will be the last.

Punctual, informative and very knowledgable. They showed me where problems existed and what THEY would suggest be done to correct them. Parts had to be ordered and were ready to be installed in less than a week. The "peace of mind" I got from their service is greatly appreciated in view of my late husband being the one who usually took care of these things. They even told me how often "tune-ups" should be done to keep everything running smoothly. All the technicians I dealt with reiterated their 24/7 policy which was comforting to know should it ever be needed. Having to deal with just one company to take care of my furnace, air conditioner, stand-by generator, duct cleaning AND plumbing, was extremely helpful. Knowing I had their "best" technicians in their particular area of expertise taking care of all of this was extremely gratifying.
