Description of Work: I reached out to Gabriel Iron works for an estimate 5x, was given the runaround every time and told someone would reply soon, this over the course of 1.5 months. In the end, I told them I needed an answer by today otherwise I would review poorly on angieslist, no luck. Avoid this firm, waste of your time.

Description of Work: They nade a competitive bid; we were set to use them, and then they simply stopped returning e- mails and calls. We used someone else, more expensive, but absolutely accurate about timing.

Description of Work: Gabriel performed a simple repair for me in a timely fashion. His price was almost 40% lower than that quoted by a much larger locksmith/security company however I don't think they would have done a better job.

Description of Work: Gabriel's Iron Works came to my house to give an estimate for scraping and painting several pieces of outdoor wrought iron. I explained that I would like the work done in about three weeks, when we were due to return from out of town. I was told to call them when we returned so that they could set a definite date. I called as I was asked to do, and was told that someone would come to my house the next morning to collect a check as a deposit for the work. No one ever showed up, nor did they ever call me. Needless to say, I hired another company to do the work.

+ -1 moreGabriel met me for the estimate on the appointed day, and I walked him through what needed to be done. He arrived on time with one of his repairmen. They quickly assessed the work that needed to be done and also found other items that needed repair, and suggested that those be addressed also. He gave me an estimate on the spot and a projected day to do the work. I was traveling on the day the work was done, and his workman checked in with me before he began. The work was done quickly, and my tenants were very happy with the results. As I don't live on the premises, I was nervous about not being present - but Gabriel did a terrific job and was professional in every area and I would definitely have him do any future work, and highly recommend him
Description of Work: I needed to have two wrought iron window guards installed on the basement/lower apartment windows. One guard needed to be curved to accomodate an air conditioner. Also, the iron rail by the stairs needed to be re-secured to the brick and there were some rusted breaks in the rail. Also, the front iron gate scraped, and needed to be re-hung.

+ -1 moreGabriel's removed an iron grate from a window and gave an estimate for replacing it. I also asked them to do a couple of other small iron jobs--attaching arms on other window grates to accommodate window boxes and removing an iron lock shield from a decorative gate in the yard. They did these smaller jobs without adding anything to the price of the job. Very nice of them.

Description of Work: My three story fire escape had to be scraped and painted and some of the slats had to be changed. I also had a metal clothesline pole removed and the iron fence and gates at the front of my house painted.

+ 0 moreGabriel was recommended to me by a neighbor, whose fence he had re-fabricated. Gabriel came and carefully measured, examined the fence fragments we had saved and told us he had enough to re-fabricate a fence from them. This was a huge savings over manufacturing a new fence and allowed us to keep the original fence pattern. After giving him a 20% deposit, his crew picked up the pieces to start the re-fabrication and someone started scraping the stair railings. A couple of weeks later, they returned with the fence, installed it and painted it. Gorgeous. On top of that, Gabriel is very pleasant and professional to deal with. I subsequently had him back to make and install a wrought exterior iron security door and window gate on the ground floor entry window. I wish there was more work I could have him do because the work and experience was that good!
Description of Work: Scraped, primed and painted wrought iron railings and balustrades on exterior staircase. Took rusted fragments of historic wrought iron fence and re-fabricated them into a historically accurate front yard wrought iron fence with gate entry. The house is in a landmarked district in NYC and all work needed to be done in compliance with landmark standards. In addition, scraped, primed and painted front and rear cellar entry doors.
