Description of Work: They helped identify my fridge issues so I was able to finagle something on my own. They are the nicest people and will call again when my fridge really blows out!

Description of Work: Prompt, courteous and honest Couldn't solve my washing machine problem, but waived the service charge, even though I was quoted a service charge when I arranged the appointment.

Description of Work: They fixed our washer. A sock had gotten stuck and it wasn't draining. They were prompt, communicated clearly about the problem, and successfully fixed the washer. When we called them again about the refrigerator making a weird noise, even though it had stopped making the noise when they arrived, they offered to take off the service fee for the next time we called them about the problem. They are great! I always call them now when I have a problem with an appliance.

He also told us to do whatever it took to keep this old workhorse. "People who are buying a new washer now will replace it twice before you have to replace yours."

Diagnosed the problem, and researched the availability of parts to complete the job. Cost to repair didn't warrant the investment given the age of the machine - 25+ years. Very punctual and professional in his assessment.

Description of Work: The water line to our refrigerator was leaking. The repairman came very quickly and easily fixed it. We've used this company before and will again.

Description of Work: Did a service call. Charged me, but didn't properly examine refrigerator. Then suggested I just purchase a new one, because it was an economy brand. Won't use them again.

Description of Work: I have a GE refrigerator that is 46 years old - it's the original that was installed when my building was constructed in 1968. As far as I know, it has never been repaired, and worked just fine until March of 2012. Overnight, the temperature of both the freezer and refrigerator went up drastically - to about 40 degrees in the freezer and 55 in the refrigerator section. Notwithstanding the advice given separately by both my building's super and porter - that I should buy a new one because it wouldn't be worth repairing, due to its age and because parts would be unavailable, I wanted to attempt it. I hope to do a complete renovation of the kitchen in a few years, so this didn't seem a good time to buy a new refrigerator. I called Accurate Appliance and learned that they would charge $65 to diagnose the problem if no repair could be made, or I chose not to do it. If a repair was done, the $65 would be applied to the cost of the repair. That seemed fair enough, and worth it to find out for sure if the super and porter were right or not. The only problem I encountered with my experience was getting the woman who answers the phone and schedules repairs to make an appointment for me. She was of the same mind as my super, i.e., that the refrigerator wasn't worth repairing. She informed me that the compressor had probably failed, and that Accurate doesn't repair them because of the high cost. She obviously meant well, and was trying to save me the $65, but thank goodness I persisted because her knowledge of repairs was only second hand and very limited. When I finally got an appointment, the two men who came were reasonably on time. They diagnosed my problem as simply a worn out evaporator fan motor. They had a replacement in the truck, installed it, tested the refrigerator again, and were finished in 20 minutes. They were very professional, efficient and pleasant. The total cost was $185, a bargain compared to the $1,200 or so it would have cost me to buy a new one, including tax, delivery and installation. One fellow told me that he's seen other GE's last this long - that the old ones were made much better than they are today, and that with this repair, it might well outlast a new one, had I bought one instead. It's been more than 2 years since the repair, and so far it's still running like a top. It's even quieter than it was before. All in all, the experience was extremely worthwhile and I'm completely satisfied with the service. I would definitely recommend this company.

Description of Work: The "frost - free" freezer section of the GE refrigerator was building up frost and leaking. The technician arrived within a couple of hours of my call. |He looked over the situation and identified the most likely cause of the problem and what it would cost to repair....before he began the repair. Had it fixed ( replaced defective parts) in about an hour and a half. Polite, professional and efficient.
