We have always rented a truck and moved ourselves, but we were concerned about moving her into a high-rise building in NYC. We chose Shleppers because they are NY based and we figured they would have experience in moving from city to city. Although it was a small job, since she just graduated from college and has very little furniture, they treated us like VIP's from beginning to end. It was very easy to schedule and the office staff took care of details, such as emailing a certificate of insurance to both buildings. They knew where to park and advised us to reserve the freight elevators. The movers showed up exactly when they were supposed to and carefully wrapped up her artwork, mirrors, and shelves. They were very friendly and conscientious. One of the movers took the time to go back to the truck and find a bracket for her mirror that we didn't even know was missing. The price was fair and not much more than it would have cost for us to rent a truck and do it ourselves. I would certainly recommend Shleppers and will definitely use them again.

Recently I used Schleppers Moving and Storage to move my belongings from NY to Florida. Schleppers gave me a fair price and I engaged them to pack me as well as move me. Since Schleppers packed my home, I had hoped that they would take special care to protect my furniture and belongings. When we arrived at our new home Schleppers was there as promised. Upon unloading we discovered that a number of our expensive pieces of furniture were broken. We were informed by those who unpacked the truck, that the cause of the breakage was improper coverings used to protect the furniture. Also a cherished console which they unscrewed the leg in order to pack, was reassembled and placed against a wall. A week later when moving it I discovered that they never screwed back the leg and the top surface showed hairline cracks. They also chipped a lucite base which holds up a glass top table. When Schleppers were notified of the damages they offered sixty cents a pound as compensation. After discussing the matter with my attorney he stated that they became responsible for the replacement value once they packed the furniture, thereby assuming the responsibility for their safety. I will be suing Schleppers. I am posting this so that no one else will make the same mistake in using this company. Schleppers a company that does not adhere to their own motto.

They were very good at communicating before the move and during the transfer. They were also very efficient and their system for tracking and organizing was impressive.

Nissim, the estimator, was very competent and assured me that our possessions would be well care for, especially a valuable painting that would require a special crate (for which he took the measurements). We got three estimates and Shleppers was in the middle. Moving day arrived and a crew of 6 arrived promptly on time. They were very efficient and never stopped moving. The painting did not fit into the crate, hmmm. We had done all our own packing except for floor lamps, wall art, table lamps, awkward items that were too tall or large to fit into regular moving boxes. They disassembled our beds and 3 antique buffet/mirror pieces (a crowbar was used on the antiques; I winced but kept quiet after being told it had to be done that way to move them). We were given an estimated arrival date in Houston of 1-2 weeks and so we drove down and moved into a hotel. After 6 days we were contacted and told all our stuff wouldn't fit on the HUGE truck, and the remaining items would arrive the following week. We agreed to this, no biggie. On day 10 our things arrived with 2 VERY nice movers who worked very hard hauling everything to all 3 floors of townhome. Then the bad stuff started: an organ bench used a coffee table had the bottom popped out. Two wooden wheels on a buffet were broken. The mirror that had been crowbarred off another buffet could not be reattached bc the original nails were mangled. Some of the screws attaching the feet to the sofa were missing, not with the other screws, so could not attach all 4 feet until after a trip to Home Depot. Hardware for a bed was misplaced and never found, slept on a mattress on the floor for a month before replacement hardware located. Power cord for a power recliner was never found, so that makes it A CHAIR, not A RECLINER! One small bookcase was crushed to smithereens; a second small bookcase is still missing (have the shelves, just not the bookcase). Tiffany style lampshade 20 inch diameter had metal caved in on one side and shattered glass everywhere else (expected that bc box marked FRAGILE!!! was crushed on one side). In fact, many boxes marked FRAGILE on all sides were loaded into truck on the bottom under heavy items. Bicycle pump had the gauge snapped off...so useless. The list goes on. These were all items Shleppers packed. They also charged the second half of the payment after the first delivery, leaving us nervous about even receiving the remaining 44 items due in the second shipment. We complained about no bed hardware and Keemah said she would ask Oscar, the packing foreman, about where they put it; 3 weeks later I'm still waiting to hear back. We were told we could make a claim for damages if we provided Manufacturer's name, product info, receipts or invoice of purchase price, and a link to something comparable. You try finding product info and receipts for antiques that have been in your family 3-4 generations. The expensive painting arrived in the too small crate with the top 1/4 hanging out of the crate. Our 9 foot dining table was missing until we found it strapped in the wrong truck compartment ready to be delivered to ANOTHER HOUSEHOLD!!! If you value your possessions at all, go with another mover. We feel we were flexible and accommodating whenever required and expected resolution to our issues. Instead we got non-responses and a list of hoops to jump through to get compensation. We paid $9800 for all this nonsense plus $1200 in tips for first group of movers and 2 separate deliveries.

My daughter had a very good experience with them. She was very happy with them. They are all expensive. They were all just very good. There were three workers that came out. It was an all day job. They were very helpful in getting everything in the right place. They were pretty thorough all around.

Terrible - Do yourself a favor and do not use Shleppers. They sent a truck with a padlock on the main rear door and they forgot to bring the key. As a result of their complete negligence they were unable to use the liftgate (and main truck door) and they damaged several pieces of furniture. They are not taking responsibility and they are unresponsive when I try to contact them. Please pm me if you had a similar experience as I will likely have to settle this in court and would love to make this a class action. There was once piece of furniture that they chose not to move at all and they refuse to take it off my bill - straight up fraud. Do not deal with them - so not worth it!!!!

Great experience from start to finish! Our phone agent, Fran, who booked the move was extraordinary. She fit us into the schedule with just a few days notice. A lifesaver. Shleppers handled the COIs that were needed by both buildings. The moving team showed up early to get rolling. We were delighted. Lead guy was Garcia and he was terrific. They treated our possessions well and moved everything carefully - even up four flights of stairs! We would definitely call them again for our next move. Thank you!

I was not so happy with them. There were many problems with them so I would not use them again. When they came they were good, but when I went to pick my furniture, they didn't know where it was. I went to Bronx looking for my stuff, it was broken. I submitted a claim, but they never followed through. They were not cheap.

This is the second time we have used this company and once again the service was fantastic. It all started with Chris at the main office. We actual worked with Chris on the first move 2 years ago. I called him on Tuesday with the need for a move on Friday and also the delivery had to be completed by 5 PM. After provided an inventory list to Chris and a little negotiations (very little) we had a signed agreement by noon on Thursday with a scheduled pick up Friday between 11 AM - 1 PM. I told Chris if the truck arrived early that would be fine since we were all set to go. The truck arrived at 10 AM. The crew of Richard and Raleigh were fantastic. The few peices of furniture we had not wrapped they took care of quickly. They were extremely friendly and very efficient. In-fact we remembered Raleigh for the 1st move and he remembered us. That was a nice feeling. When they arrived for the delivery in New York the family member there to receive it stated she also thought they were friendly and efficient. They set up the furniture included the bed and cleaned up nicely when they were complete. Once again not a single item was broken or damaged in any way. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to move. We will likely have another move at the end of the summer in New York and will absolutely use them again. I will say I recieved quotes from 2 other companies (1 in Boston area and 1 in NYC) and Shleppers final price was the best.

This is the third time they have moved me and every time they have been absolutely fanstastic. Ask for Nissim- he has helped me plan and priced all of my moves.

My first interaction with Shleppers was with Anne M., a relocation consultant. I spoke with her on the phone, but communicated mostly via e-mail, which made coordinating our move very easy. Anne was prompt when answering all of my questions, which made the move less stressful. It was great to know how much the move would cost and it was easy to change the estimate to add items to be moved or to delete them from the estimate. I was worried the day of the move, because there was snow and ice everywhere. The two movers (Leo and another man whose name escapes me) were friendly and exceptionally hard working. It can't be fun to move people's stuff when there's ice everywhere. These guys were like machines. They had our Queens apartment packed in under three hours and took great care of our things. They put blankets down on our floors to ensure that they remained undamaged and clean. All furniture and our TVs were wrapped in blankets and unwrapped by the movers, and everything was moved into the new house carefully. None of out items were broken. A few things got knocked out of boxes or bags but were returned when the movers checked their truck at the end of the day. Parking their truck on a narrow-one way, ice and snow covered residential street in the Bronx was no easy feat, but these guys pulled it off like the pros they are. There were no surprises about the cost of the move and no hidden costs. This was the most reasonable of the NYC-area movers by a few hundred bucks. I called another company who gave me a "Winter Special" price that was $400 more than Shleppers did. I would definitely recommend Shleppers to others!

I contacted Shleppers by e-mail, and got a response the very next day. I spoke with Eli, the sales person, who was very helpful. we got an estimate that was much cheaper (one third the price) of another well reviewed company, so we went with Shleppers. We only had to give them a $100 deposit by credit card over the phone to secure the moving date. Prior to the moving date, the apartment building superintendent required receiving a copy of the Shleppers certificate of insurance (COI). I gave the phone number of the superintendent to Eli at Shleppers, and he took care of that. On the day of the move, two movers Mikey and "Rigo"showed up in their bright orange Shleppers truck and they were both friendly and conscientious. They worked steady for several hours unloading and unpacking the items and checking with us frequently about where to put them. Some of the items went into our garage to store, other items went into a downstairs guest room, and other items went into our basement. I gave each of them a $60 tip for their hard work since I was very pleased with the job they did. I'd recommend Shleppers to anyone who needs a moving job.

I hired this company and put down a deposit. They showed up the morning of my move and their truck was filthy. I asked them to sweep out their truck and they refused. I offered to sweep out myself the truck and they left without helping us move.

Work was great, very pleased. Going to use them again soon.

We were beyond thrilled with the work Shleppers did for us. The day went very smoothly and the crew they sent was extremely friendly, hard working and very professional. I first contacted Shleppers about a month to 6 weeks before our move. Charles was the salesperson that called me back. Charles was very responsive and scheduled an appointment immediately to take a look at our house. Upon review of our house and what was to be moved, I received a proposal within 24 hours of his visit. I did not fully understand the proposal so Charles and I went back and forth via email and hpone conversations. I told Charles that I did not want any surprises regarding the price on move day. There weren't any. Charles actually came back and looked again to ensure his proposal was firm. Charles was great to deal with. He actually showed up on the morning of our move. As for the movers, they came to our house at 9am. There were 8 of them in total. All very nice and ready to work. My wife and I had to go to the walk through closing on our new house that morning so my in-laws were there to supervise. When we got back at 12pm, the whole house (about 2400 sq. ft including garage) was packed and in the trucks already (2 trucks). From here, they took the trucks over to the new house (6 miles away). My only complaint all day was that they never got to our new house until 2pm. And they never told us where they were going. They got lunch, refueled and took bathroom breaks. I had offered to buy them lunch but from what I understand they usually refuse because some people view this as the tip. So, when they got to our house and 2pm, they continued to impress us with their work ethic. They moved everything into our house and garage and put all items back together (beds, TV stands, enterntainment centers, cribs, etc.). They were finished by 5:30pm. I cannot say enough good things about this crew. They added so much calm to a stressful day. Shleppers recommends a 15-20% tip if you are happy with the service. I gave the foreman 20%+. They deserved it! And the crew was very grateful. I would recommend Shleppers (especially this crew) to anyone looking to move.

The move went ok. The movers seemed to rush through it, as is indicated by broken table top, picture and glass mirror. We filed a complaint and had not taken additional insurance. They were fair with their payment to us. That does not negate the aggravation. What was most annoying is that the movers only acknowledged the obvious breakage (table top) They just never delivered the mirror (which I assume they broke) and left it up to us to find that the frame from painting was broken Would not use them again I had used Moishes in the past, they were a little more expensive, but now I see you get what you pay for The woman who settles claims was very lovely and responsive. It was not her fault they damaged my daughter's possessions.
