I called on Saturday requesting dishwasher repair. We scheduled for Tuesday between 9-12. I got a call on Tuesday at 9:30 that something had come up. Could we do another day? No because I took the day off especially for this. They said they would come shortly after 12. At 2:30 I called and they were in Brooklyn. They said they were leaving right then and would get there at 4 or so. At 3:30 they were still in Brooklyn. So basically flat out lying all day long. Look elsewhere if you actually need service.

It went good! I was very happy with Robert and his men, the job was a nightmare, the big orange box store's delivery company cancelled my first date, and then when they did come they were capable of NOTHING. I found AV and called and they fit me in during the holiday rush last week, and then we ran into little problems one by one, but AV managed to get me through it and with reasonable pricing. A+ company to work with. Would HIGHLY recommend.

He did the job within 30 minutes. Replaced the damaged component with a brand new one and guaranteed his work for 6 months.

Robert, the repairman, called me and then showed up as promised and assessed the situation quickly and made all repairs on the spot. The price was fair and he was great. Michael Dane

Our problem was fixed. In the process one of the range knobs may have been slightly damaged and without prompting av made arenagment to return and replace at no cost to us.

I called a different company, who came and told me I needed a new compressor ($2500) and possibly a new evaporator ($1000 additional if I did the compressor.) I decided to see if this price was standard, and called AV Appliance. They quoted $1600 for the compressor, and an additional $400 if I needed an evaporator, a savings of $1500. I told them to order the parts but they wanted to check the freezer out themselves. First interesting news, my compressor was fine, according to Victor. I needed freon. An infusion of freon worked for a day, and then it warmed up. He returned and found a leak in a pipe that could be circumvented, but the system also had to be vacuumed out as the leak contaminated the system. I saw evidence of the leak, and my super confirmed this that contamination was a big deal. This vacuuming was done twice, once by Victor, once by Robert. Each time it chilled, then cooled. Victor was daunted but Robert returned, disassembled the freezer, and said the only thing left was the ancient aluminum coils. The cost to replace was $1600, but he would deduct what I paid for the original freon. He ordered a replacement, installed the new coils, and the freezer is working again! He deducted what I paid originally, so the total was $1600. I am impressed by their determination to solve the problem, and the fact that after the original bill, no more money was paid until they solved the problem. I would definitely use them again!!! Happy to have avoided a new Subzero to fit the builtins at $12,000!

Stay far away from AV Appliance Service if you have Kitchenaid built in refrigerator. I very rarely take the time to submit lengthy review however this service was so horrific that if i can save someone the trouble from dealing with them it is worth it. We called as we had issues with our freezer keeping cool. Technician showed up once and made attempt to diagnose the problem and work on cooling issue came back and worked on fixing. There was a pool of water all over the kitchen, he put food from freezer all over the floor and just left it there and didn't bother to communicate in advance he needed a towel and for us to remove the food in advance. Tech left and an hour later our freezer was frozen shut and we could not open, further the fridge than started to overheat. Tech came back 3 times to unfreeze the freezer that continued to freeze up. I asked tech why this continued to happen and he admitted he didn't install correctly. We had no freezer for close to a month and no fridge for 2 weeks. I ended up calling Kitchenaid and getting recommended vendor that came and fixed the problem. AV continues to send bills for services never delivered and performed when they clearly know that they did not deliver on service. Do yourself a favor and if you have appliance issue to call the manufacturer directly and find recommended vendor, i would stay far and away from AV Appliance Service.

It was very difficult to access the dryer — it is a stackable in a small closet. The technician was creative and stuck with it until the job was completed. Very happy with the end results.

The technician, Victor Anchunoia, considered that the main cause is a dirty condenser behind the refrigerator. The result of the cleaning he performed was that when attempting to use the water dispenser the water filter was forcefully ejected from the refrigerator. The technician conclusion was that the entire module of freezer and refrigerator controls has to be removed and the best solution is to buy a new refrigerator. He also said that "after 24 hours there is a 90% probability that the refrigerator will maintain the desired temperature" As this did not happen I consider that he did nothing useful for the charge of $225 that I paid.

Nice guy, honest opinion, suggest rather than have it fixed I am getting a new one. That propably cost them money but I appreciate it,

He figured out the problem, needed to be rewired, and fixed it quickly. He arrived before the window I'd been given, which was great. I would definitely use them again.

I have a Viking gas range where the oven was slow to heat and could never reach a high temperature, it capped at 350 F. The person on the phone told me what I already suspected which was that the ignitors had to be changed. Person was on time and the repair was done quickly and professionally. Cost was $350 including everything.

Short report. 16 year old Sub Zero freezer (42" side by side) started not to hold temperature about 2 months ago. Called my cooperative recommended refrigerator mechanic who came, diagnosed the problem, and replaced a freezer fan motor and the plastic fan blade. Said there was not air circulation in the freezer, but all else was working. $325. Temp dropped a bit (was only holding about 25 degrees, and now held between 10 and 15), but 2 weeks later it was back up into the 20's. Called again and they returned, cleaned out the back of the unit which was full of ice and said that this would help for a short time, but I needed a new freezer compressor, evaporator, heat exchange, freon, tubing and solder. $2,200 with labor. After I got up from the floor, I went to Angie's List. Found excellent reviews for AV Appliance service. Short story that I'm now making long, Robert came about 10 minutes late for the 2PM to 5PM assigned slot, but you should know to always schedule early appointments because if mechanics are good, they are always going to run late. Anyway, he professionally cleaned our cooling fins with a pressurized solvent and found that our freon level was low. Refilled that, cleaned everything up perfectly and said this should work. The freon level had never been check since new. 45 minutes and he was done. Within 2 hours we had 00 degrees showing, something we hadn't been able to achieve for a few months. Next morning, Robert called ... yes he called us to see if things were good! That was most impressive! it's now 3 days later and the temp is holding perfectly. $285 vs. $2,200! I am both relieved and thrilled since any 42" replacement side by side is a fortune (minimum of $7K and $12K for the newer version of our Sub Zero). Happy to write an excellent review for AV Appliance! Wish I had called them first, but they will be my first call in the future. Hope this helps others.

They've been great. I think they are expensive but I'm not surprised. We're in the city area and it's expensive to operate here. They did the job. It's working fine. They are responsive. They showed up when they said they would. I've recommended them to the building.

I called. They said tech would return call. He never did after 24 hours. If they don't have time should just tell me so I can find someone else.

My dishwasher stopped working. I needed a competent repairman quickly. I contacted AV Appliance Service. They responded quickly and said the schedule within the week. The first visit was purely diagnostic where they looked at my broken dishwasher told me what the problem was and gave me estimates which they guarantee do not go over. They set their nother appointment to do the repair and replacement which lasted just less than an hour. My dishwasher started working again and they gave me a 90-day guarantee. I am happy with their service and I'm glad they exist. I would gladly call them again if I ever need an appliance repaired. Thank you very much!

Great! Highly recommended service! My dishwasher stopped working about a month after the warranty ran out. I called the number and got in touch with Robert. We scheduled for a couple of days later and Robert showed up as scheduled to perform a diagnostic. Robert spent about 45 minutes examining the machine. After determining it was a faulty motor, I made a down payment and we had to schedule again a week later for him to order the part and perform the actual repair. A week later, Robert showed up at the scheduled time with the necessary parts and it took just about over an hour for him to replace the part and perform tests. After final adjustments, we settled the bill and he gave a warranty of 6 months if I recall. This is a late review, and my dishwasher has since been going strong over a year now, but if there is ever a problem with it, I know to call Robert at AV Appliance Repair!

Freezer fan not working diagnosed within 10 minutes Didn't have part came back next day on time 20 min to install Fixed the problem

It didn't. I hate to drag down their ratings, but I don't have time to go through multiple calls and emails. The problem hasn't happened again recently, but it's likely to. I'll deal with it then.

Robert, the repair person rapidly diagnosed the problem, which was an aging and faulty bake igniter. He had one on his truck, and rapidly and efficiently replaced it. The oven has been working perfectly ever since (It had been for a while very slow to come up to temperature), and no more gas smell Robert also did a rapid refrigerator checkup,which resulted in improved temperature control. Price charged seemed fair (although I am not really competent to judge).

I took the day off from work but the contractor never showed and never called until I finally I finally tracked them down hours after the three hour wait window they had given me in the middle of the day. Very unprofessional - I won't use them.

Robert, the technician, had two and a half days in which to contact me to reschedule the time he set. Note: I did not pick the day or the time. However, he waited until after 3:00 p.m. on the date of scheduled service to call to say that "if I come out to your location, I wouldn't make it back of class."

Not great. The 2nd unit in bedroom was not properly re-installed. It's still crooked in the wall. (See photo). They were supposed to come back - because, in addition, they also leaked fluid onto my wood floors which appeared stained, and they promised to sand and fix that. Never heard from them again. They were VERY nice people, but I felt over their heads.
