Description of Work: Received an estimate for moving over the state line. The estimate appeared to be fair but the not to exceed quote was not clear. For reasons not important here, we chose an alternative company. We have no reason to believe Murphy would not provide service as expected. The sales associate showed up on time and with pad and pen noted everything to be moved. He was prompt and polite.

Description of Work: Completely disinterested in providing estimate for job. Was looking for help for a same-day move in Fairfield county. Gave Murphy Movers a call and rough sequence of events 1.) Lack of interest on phone - "You sure you want us to estimate it? There's going to be drive charges... " 2.) Estimator comes out after asking them to bid on it 3.) Week of silence 4.) Estimate trickles in a week later. They were going to be the first and only company I had estimate the move, but in the week of radio silence, another (highly rated, reviewed on AL) company came out and did a walk-thru, provided a same day estimate, and ultimately came in at 50% less expensive for more services (more guys, more packing). Oh well - guess their business is so strong they didn't need mine. Luckily for them, I won't be calling them again.

Description of Work: Based on an unexpected change in closing dates I contacted Murphy moving six days before the move. I explained my perdicument to the person on the phone and that I was in a bind. She stated that there was no one to come to our house to give us an estimate for three days and that they would not have enough time to set up the move. I asked if it would be at all possible to help me out and find someone to come out and give us an estimate. She stated they could not. Needless to say, I was quite disappointed. The unwillingness to even try to get an estimator out tells me all I need to know about this company. Thankfully I found a company that was willing to do what they needed to do to help us out. I would never use this company nor would I ever recommend them. They could not care less than they did.
