Awful. (see above).
Description of Work: (Let me preface this by saying that I have received consistently excellent customer service and payment plans on my Long oil deliveries and furnace service, thanks to Chris Long.) Plumbing "help", however, is another story. It turned into a real nightmare and financial disaster for me. It has taken me a year to calm down enough to write this report. Being a fairly new home-owner, I decided to call Long's new plumbing department for advice concerning a slow-flushing toilet. Frank Allen generously offered to meet me at my home before work to advise me at no charge. He was held up and I had to leave for work, so we agreed to speak by phone as soon as I arrived at work. When I called him back, he had taken the liberty (without my permission) to remove (break) the cap off the main sewer pipe in the basement. He said I would need to call roto rooter or some such company to actually clean the pipe, and that there was a little spillage that the garbage can he used while opening the cap had not caught. He said I could clean it up with a little bleach. Yeah , right. Little did I know that he, an experienced plumber had allowed the backed-up sewage, under high pressure, to spray with full force all over my stored furnture, storage containers, walls, and floor, without moving or covering the near-by items. (Most were on wheels and could have been easily moved away from the pipe before it was opened). This was no little clean up job that he left for me. Based on my previous good experience at Long Oil, I was confident that the company would take responsibility. However, Bob Long told me to call my insurance company, which I naively did. It turned into a $2000 professional clean-up by a fire/water/mess restoration company, of which I had to pay a special $1000 deductible, minus the cost of the lost items. (To be fair, I should add that a small part of the mess was left by the drain-cleaning company I hired.) When my homeowners insurance came up for renewal, my insurance company canceled the policy. In order to keep my insurance, I now have a $2000 deductible, instead of $500, and a higher yearly price. I was still hopeful that Long Energy would try to make up for the expense and mess their plumber left, by lowering my oil price in the fall (Even after the professional clean-up, I had to re-wash many things). But Bob Long only gave a tiny (less than $100) allowance to receive the normal capped price. To top it off, Frank Allen told me by phone that I needed to replace a sewer pipe that had dripped a little, under pressure. (Cost estimate: over $2000) I had a different plumber take a look, and he told me it was fine to leave it. It has been a year and no leaking! Frank Allen, Long Oil's plumber, opened a fully pressurized pipe without my consent, leaving a terrible mess that cost me a fortune in clean up and insurance charges and changes to my plan. Mistakes are understandable, but those who make them should fix them.
