Response from CETO Builders Inc
Very disappointed to get any review from a member of whom I've never met, or worked with. Angies list offers a really great service. One thing though that is a disservice, is allowing reviews that are based on zero interaction. I strongly disagree that reviews are allowed without any actual interaction. This review forum is to allow for clients to review actual experiences. As we are all aware, emails, texts, and phone calls can get overlooked and sometimes even don't get to their intended recipient. I do my very best to respond and look at every potential project. Sometimes though, I'm not able to do so in the time needed for some potential clients.

Although Scott was not the general contractor on this job, he did outstanding work, especially a very hairy kitchen cabinet install. He was good about communicating and fair with prices. He kept at it until we were totally satisfied with the job. I would hire him again.

We have a 40 year old rental property that we wanted to sell but it needed some work before that could happen. The master bath had to be completely replaced, the back patio cover torn down, and some additional work we could not do ourselves. Since I've never had to hire a contractor directly, I had no idea where to begin. The only thing certain was whoever I hired had to be licensed, bonded and insured. After asking around but getting no where, I looked on Angie's List. CETO was not the only company I contacted but it was the only one who gave me a satisfactory response. That is to say, they promptly returned my call, answered all of my questions and gave the impression of being well organized. Almost immediately, I was able to meet with the owner, Scott, to do an assessment on the house and discuss my plans. He was on time, listened to what I had to say, and offered some suggestions of his own. Scott worked up an estimate within an appropriate time then emailed me everything. After looking things over, we agreed to let CETO perform the work and they got started right away. In the past, I have dealt with contractors who are very poor at communicating the status of a job. One of the the things I most appreciated about working with CETO is that I dealt directly with the owner, Scott. He was easy to reach, promptly returned my calls, and kept me updated on what was happening (which kept my stress level at a minimum!). The guys Scott brought in to do the work all appeared to be competent and professional. Although the work took longer than expected (as it always does), we otherwise had no issues. Once the shower was in use a leak appeared but Scott took care of that himself and right away. Things have been fine since. The only reservation I had was the cost. We had originally planned to do both bathrooms and the kitchen but realized the cost was far more than we were ready to spend. Bath Planet had already come out and given us an estimate for the bathrooms (which was very expensive) so I did have something to compare with CETO's estimate. Based upon that, CETO's price appeared fair but it was more than I had anticipated. However in the end, even if we did pay a few dollars more, I had absolutely no stress and no headaches! Scott was so easy to deal with and did a good job which is well worth the cost! CETO will likely be doing more work on this house in the future, and I am confident to recommend CETO Builders to others.
Description of Work: Old shower insert in master bath removed and discarded. Replaced with new marble slab shower, new fixtures, and new shower floor. New shower doors, new toilet, and new flooring. Surface mold on ceiling removed. Ceiling fan cut in and installed to reduce moisture/condensation. Walls and ceiling painted. Old exterior patio cover dismantled and hauled away.

We got initial estimates from 4 companies. Scott had some great suggestions for how to proceed with our counter top replacement. He was always prompt and responsive. All of his sub contractors were also prompt and professional. We are extremely satisfied with the final product, and highly recommend Scott and CETO Builders for your project.
Description of Work: Removed tile counter tops. Cut down bar height section of counter. Removed faucet, sink, garbage disposal. Moved pony wall to allow more floor space. Installed granite counter with full height back splash. Installed new sink, faucet, garbage disposal, wall electrical outlets. Drywall and texture repair.

Scott was timely in getting me an estimate. The only delay was choosing the granite for the counter tops and coordinating it with the Fabricator to install it. However Scott was always in contact with me by e-mail with updates. The work was completed in under three days.Scott and Jeremiah were professional and courteous. I am very happy with the outcome.
Description of Work: I live in a condo so my kitchen is small. I had the formica counter tops removed and granite counter tops installed. I had the linoleum in the kitchen removed and the carpet in the dining area removed. I had vinyl plank flooring that looks like a wooden floor installed in the kitchen and dining area. Also new baseboard was installed in the kitchen and dining area aswell as wood trim in the kitchen finishing off the look of the floor. Scott also replaced an old light fitting in the dining area with a fan and light combo.

Scott is a fantastic contractor to deal with. He is knowledgeable, honest, flexible and a pleasure to interact with. Both my husband and I felt very comfortable working with him on this project. He has a good base of sub-contractors he pulls in - everyone we dealt with was friendly and they all performed quality work. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Scott to anyone, and should we have another significant project build, I would call him in an instant.

,Overall went great. Like I said, would use CETO again. Very trustworthy and honest.
Description of Work: We have used Ceto Builders for many projects. They have basically remodeled our entire first floor. We had Scott do a complete remodel of our living room, dining room, entry and master bedroom, including new walls, flooring, doors, wet bar, lighting, and a new fireplace. The finished product is amazing. We then had Scott come back for a complete kitchen remodel and that turned out just as great. They do great work and all the people he brought in were top notch. We pretty much gave him a key to our house and I never worried about giving that kind of access to any of his people. Scheduling sometimes was difficult, but overall we are very, very satisfied and plan on using CETO again. Many of our neighbors who have come over to see our remodel have been so impressed they have even hired them.

We've been very pleased. They have not completed the work yet, but we are very pleased. They've been great so far. It's not because we got an estimate in late October that they haven't started the work. I've been in Texas and my husband has been in Utah and we've been out of state. We haven't been able to let them come in and do the work so that's the reason for the delay. It's on our side. Their estimate is in an $8000 range where as the other contractor came in around $12000. They've been wonderful.
Description of Work: We got an estimate from CETO Builders Inc in late October for a bathroom remodel. We are having 2 of them done and it's not a complete remodel. They are going to be doing the showers, the tiles and the stone work. They are scheduled to come in on the 10th of November or some time very soon.

I actually had them come over to check on the job, but they are yet to get back to me even after a month, even though we have had correspondence. They showed up on time and were professional in evaluating the job. I did not have a problem with them and would have gone with them. Scott Cetovik was a little less confident and a little less experienced than another provider I had spoken to. He wanted me to meet with his designer. I was a little apprehensive about having to commit to a designer when I might end up going with a company that does both design and construction. A lot of contractors do both design and construction; I did not want to commit any money to someone before I had actually selected a contractor. My first attempt after a month was to check if they were still interested. They were positive about it, and we had a couple of emails back and forth. I wish they had gotten back to me with a definite answer than leading me on. I was not impressed. They had good reviews on Angie’s List. I don’t want to judge them too soon, but I was very disappointed. I don’t have really good things to say about them. I spent a fair amount of time with them, and they seemed capable of doing the job. I asked him if he could give me a kind of ballpark, and he said that he would get back to me; I have never heard from him. I met them on the 13th of May and enough time has gone by. I kept waiting for them to revert to me. I had hoped to get a couple of bids on the project, and I ended up going with a company that actually gave me a bid. In all fairness, we are in Zephyr Cove, which is about 70 miles from Reno. They do market in our area, so I figured that should not have been a problem, but in retrospect, that may actually have been my problem. They probably felt that this place was farther than they wanted to go, but they could have told me that. We had a pretty significant renovation going on. Our renovation was not one of those where there were a lot of problems to deal with. The unit was empty, and it is a 30-year-old standard construction, so it was basically an interior remodel of a well-built townhouse. I was amazed that they weren’t coming back. One of the possibilities was that they had a lot of work on their hands. I had checked with other contractors too, and they responded with a lot of calls. I would have been happy if they had just told me why they did not want to do the job. I probably would not seek a quote from them again because I felt like I got stood-up.
Description of Work: I contacted CETO Builders Inc for the renovation of my townhouse.

All of the renovation projects in which I have worked with Scott, the owner of CETO Builders, has been exemplary. Scott's is extremely reasonable with his estimates/bids, and maintains a timely schedule for any project in the event he is awared the job. The quality of work is above par, and any isssues/follow-up are resolved immidately. It has always been a pleasure to work on a project with Scott, and team of sub-contractors.
Description of Work: I have worked in conjuction with CETO Builders on many projects pertaining to renovation projects ranging from kitchen, bathrooom, bedrooms and main living areas. This includes providing estimates to perform the services being requested, obtaining the any necessary permits, scheduling the sub-contractors for the project, and any required follow up after the project has been completed.

We are happy. It went fine. It went pretty smooth and as I expected. I would recommend them to a friend or a family member. They are good. When I hire somebody I don't take the lowest bid. I take the middle bid. I want a representation of what the job is worth. I don't want somebody to high ball. I don't want somebody to low ball it because then you get somebody who will cut corners as much as possible. I know a little bit about construction. Scot gave me a fair price and he did the work when we asked him to do it. He did everything the way we asked for to be redone. When we wanted something changed or if we wanted to do something in the middle, he was accommodating and did the appropriate changes. We were happy. He gave us the price that I expected. I would certainly use him again in the future.
Description of Work: CETO Builders did a bathroom remodel for us. They took out old sheet rock, restructured a wall, put in sheet rock properly around the shower, did some prep work for the installation of the under shower surround, and mounted a vanity, a wall sink, and a medicine cabinet. They also did some work in the adjoining family room.

Went too quickly in some cases. I had to monitor progress hour by hour to make sure all of the work was being done according to a plan I developed over the course of months previous, based on structural engineer reports. There were several instances where the subcontractors departed from that plan and I had to insist that they stop work, get back on track and proceed. There were other instances where I had to make decisions on the fly as the project continued. The structural engineer's conclusion that the cause of the damage was expansive soils left in place, and improper compaction of the worksite site in 1978 was WRONG! Unfortunately a soil engineer we contracted to check this did in fact find expansive clay in the one test hole we had bored in the floor slab. That test hole missed the root by about a foot and a half. The real cause was big old tree roots from a cottonwood that stood twenty feet from the house across the patio. We estimated one root ran 30 feet lengthwise down the patio following a the center joint. A second reached across the patio, dove eight feet down under the footing, and followed the footing around half of the length of the house, and the entire width on one end, for a total of over 60 feet. It was still an inch and a half in diameter when it disappeared under the far side of the floor slab still headed west. Excavation was continuing at an unbelievable pace when pieces of tree root started turning up. Workers inside pointed out the root, and I was able to take some pictures, but continued shoveling and removed it. First mistake. My second mistake was to allow work to continue before our insurance company could see for themselves. Our insurance company disallowed any coverage for damage due to soil movement, but re-opened our claim when we reported the presence of those big roots. There was one big knot of a root in the specific location where the damage was worst under the floor. It was growing between the slab and the footing, and had raised the floor about 1.5 inches, damaging the interior sheetrock, but not the footing or foundation wall. I had pictures, and CETO Builders owner Scott Cetovik was ready to back us up that the root caused all the damage. For what it's worth, we cut that cottonwood down six months previously, when it seemed to be diseased and in danger of falling on the house. The structural engineer's report and the backup soil test led us in the wrong direction and cost us about $30,000 more than if we had known about the tree root.
Description of Work: Remedied a drainage problem we were told was the cause of interior floor slab damage and concrete patio damage due to improper slab drainage that resulted in snowmelt/water on the patio draining down the foundation wall. Demolition: removed a large deck and co-located fence. Coordinated services of an excavation company to demo 2000 ft2 concrete patio; remove 400 ft2 interior floor slab, trench three sides of a daylight basement to footing level and install field drain; seal and insulate wall and backfill with clean rock; grade, compact, and prep for replacement of patio area and other areas removed for trenching, including concrete steps and new retaining wall, installed upgraded irrigation system supply line destroyed during demolition. Concrete: coordinated the replacement concrete work with a subcontractor: interior floor slab replaced, exterior patio slabs with 50 ft deck drain.
