Description of Work: I just bought a house and the a/c wasn't cooling the master bedroom. I bought a home warranty and had two a/c professionals come out to tell me what was wrong. The first told me rats ate through the ducts, and the second told me it was a duct problem, that the duct at 10" was inadequate to cool the rooms. He told me the unit was good. he told me that insulating the attic would help and new windows. Both fixed nothing. The second was better than the first. However, I decided to call a third without the help of the home warranty so I called Dekes after seeing all the positive reviews from Angies List. A tech was sent out and he said that the duct work looked ok but that the diameter of 10" is inadequate for the size of this house (1573 sq ft) and that just one duct of 10" runs the length of the house which is inadequate. He waived the service fee and told me he could update the duct to 12" and fix the return because there is a rip for $750.00 but he asked me to call when it was cooler. Which I was willing to do. He told me I really didn't need to insulate the attic but that windows would help. The house was built in 1986 and I don't think the windows have been updated. I will be calling in cooler weather for update of the ducts. The a/c unit was replaced 9 years ago but not the ducts.

Description of Work: My furnace went out and my couldn't get the pilot light to stay lit. I believe it was Steve who came out to the house within an hour of calling, and inspected the furnace, told us everything inside was pretty new and looked good, we just needed to change the filter and he showed my son the one step he was missing to light the pilot. We've used Deke's before to replace a part in the furnace 4 years ago when we first moved in, to replace a thermostat and for our AC. They always show up on time, explain everything in understandable terms and charge a fair price. I can't imagine using anyone else.

They went to the extent of telling me that I should turn off the gas to the units because they were such a risk in their present state. They wanted to charge me $11,400 to replace the two units. I called Deke's, who was recommended by a close friend. They (Steve) came to my house less than 2 hrs later. His inspection revealed no such dangers. Steve seemed very honest and trustworthy. A simple $85 service call saved me from having to spend $1,000s on two new units and gave me and my family peace of mind knowing we were not in danger living in our home.
