My husband?s older laptop failed to boot-up on a Friday morning. My husband used this laptop for software development and it had been three days since he last backed-up the hard drive. We took the laptop to CompuDoc for a diagnostic and emphasized to Tony that our main concern was getting the data off the hard-drive so my husband would not lose any of his work. Within about 90 minutes after dropping off the laptop, Tony called and said the motherboard not worth repairing or replacing, especially since it was an older computer. However, he could transfer the data off the hard drive to an external drive, and then we would be able to put the data on a new laptop. We purchased an external drive and gave it to Tony on Saturday. Tony started the transfer of all the laptop?s hard drive data on Saturday but it had not been completed by Monday morning when he thought it would be ready. On Monday, my husband was able to work with Tony to just transfer the files he needed to the external drive. Although Tony quoted us $55 for the diagnostic and $55 for the data transfer, he only charged us $55 due to the delay and that dropped to $44 with our ?Angie?s List? coupon. We felt that Tony was straight with us and concerned about providing us the best advice for our situation, and very accommodating to our needs and was extremely fair with his pricing. We would definitely use CompuDoc services again.

Provider was on time, very knowledgeable, answered all my naive questions, very thorough and provided excellent suggestions on utilizing my computer to a far greater extent than I had been. I had literally no back-up space left and have many legal files that absolutely have to be saved for possible future use. My computer had also been running extremely slowly. Matt Lopez from CompuDoc spent the time necessary to take of all this. I will definitely utilize their services in the future.

First, I called and told them the problem and they told me it could be the plug or the jack. I took my computer in and the first thing they checked was my plug and that is what it was. It costed me only $43.00 and that was with my angie's list discount and everything. Plus I got some free advice while I was there. I really appreciate them because 2 years ago I paid Laptop Xchange over $100 dollars because I thought it was my jack. I will be using them again. THANK YOU!!!!

Improved speed of boot-up (which is what I was looking to do). Reduced speed of boot-up from 7 min to 2.5 min. Spent extra time doing it (extra charges). Not as complete as I expected. I was satisfied that the work was accomplished, in consideration of the time spent and the time (and cost) it would take to do more.

My experience with them went fine. It ended up costing double than what I paid for on Angie’s list. It was more than what it was advertised for. They fixed what was wrong, but later on I had to buy a new computer. I would not recommend them to others because they did not fix my computer as they were supposed to.

Hello , you say : "My experience with them went fine", and you give us a poor rating? You say "They fixed what was wrong". You say "I paid more than double". Your total bill was $100 , this is VERY cheap for onsite computer repair. Most companies charge $80-$100 an hour AND usually stay 2-3 hours. I am not understanding were we went wrong?!!?

The technician Matt came out to the house on Friday, 1/24/14 to fix my laptop as it seemed to be infected by a virus. He couldn't fix it and said it had to go into the shop which was fine with us. He called us on Thursday, 1/30 to say that the laptop was fixed. He said he had to uninstall the operating system and reinstall it which, I would imagine, is pretty much what has to be done to get rid of a nasty virus. We picked up the laptop, paid for it, and brought it home. Well, needless to say, it wasn't fixed properly and is completely useless! NOTHING can be downloaded into the system - no Windows Updates, no Anti-virus software - NOTHING! I called Matt to let him know it wasn't working properly and he informed me that he would call me between 7 & 8 in the evening to help fix it remotely. This laptop is my mother's so that meant going back to her house to get his phone call later that evening. I went back but he never called! I went home and at about 8:40 he called and left a message. This annoyed me terribly as the laptop was supposed to be fixed! We shouldn't have to be playing phone tag at night for a computer that was supposed to be fixed! Or, if he couldn't make our phone appointment, he should have called in a timely manner! I left a message for Gareth (who I never met) to call me first thing in the morning and yes, I was good and angry! Gareth didn't call me in the morning, I called him and bottom line is that he was more annoyed at my attitude than in fixing my problem! He actually said that it shouldn't be an emergency because "you're not a doctor's office dealing with patients"! HOW DARE HE!!!!!! My mom is 75 years old and this is her link to the outside world!!! That I even have to explain that is outrageous!!! Needless to say I will not ever be using this business again. This was absolutely unacceptable! Update: It's outrageous how this merchant is lying. He never said nor would there be a reason for him to contact the DA's bad check unit as we did not pay by check. Unfortunately we paid by bankcard and unfortunately he did receive payment. Additionally, my message was not left at 8:20 am...it was left at 8pm the night before because the technician, Matt, never called to try to fix the problem like he said he would.. NEVER did I demand anyone drop anything to drive back to my home. As stated in my review, Gareth was more obsessed with yelling at me for being dissatisfied rather than wanting to rectify their mistakes.

There probably was a small error on this job, that could have easily been fixed in a minute or two. We deal with errors and small fixes after the work is finished all the time. It is not a big deal and just part of the job, and 99.9% of the customers are great and cooperate. This particular customer came lashing down the phone screaming at the top of her lungs at 9:07am in the morning wanting to know why I had not returned her call yet. I explained that my shop opens at 9am, and her message was left at 8:20am. She was DEMANDING that I drop everything and drive to her home right this second , and If I dont she will put a stop payment on the check. I told her I dont appreciate being screamed at down the phone, and that if she calms down, someone will fix the issue today at not cost , as this is NOT an emergency, it will be taken care of in less than 24 hours. This was not good enough and she slammed down the phone. I told her I would file a complaint with the district attorneys bad check unit, and I will. As the business owner for 19 years, I am the most talented technician in Las Vegas, there is nothing I cant fix on any computer , and I treat my customers with the highest respect and honor. 1000's of my customers have been with me for over 10 years and refuse to go anywere else.As I am self employed I refuse to listen to an abusive customer scream down the phone at me. However even with all that knowlege and customer skill , I STILL cannot please 100% of my customers, more like 99.9999%, and Im ok with that ;)

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. It was not a good experience. The first time they came over, they helped me fix what was wrong with my slow-running Mac computer and they had to deal with transferring files from desktop to someplace out. The computer now does work faster and it does what I want it to do, however in doing this they blocked the pathway to a lot of my pictures so I cannot open up my pictures. I sent them an email and I said we need to do something about this, basically you can bring it back and take a look at it. They came to our house and I paid the $55 for them to tell me that I need to take it over to the shop so I drove over to the shop and left it there for a few days and then went back to get it, no problem, and paid another $200-some. I had more than $250 into the whole thing. When I brought it home, I couldn't get to the pictures so I called back and said I can't get the pictures and so I had to bring it back. I said I have another thing that I need to have. You have to help me set up a printer on 3 different computers and then we can work on the first problem as well so they came back about a week ago. He hooked up my printer and that was fine. What they did was really good. All the computers are hooked up and then he worked on trying to open up the pathway to my pictures. I don't know how long that took. I gave him another $229. I didn't watch the time so I'm not sure he was on for 3 hours in that. The full price is $79. Just before he left he wanted to make sure I can get to the pictures. I don't know what he did but I couldn't get into the pictures. I said we need to unblock the pathway and he said I can individually go back and do a little process. He left and then I tried to do what he said on individual treatment of each of the pictures. We have now spent $500 and I can't get to my pictures. He hooked up all my printers and they all looked fine so he did some other work, but $500 and I can't get to my pictures so I' m not happy. The computer is running faster, I do have things backed up on an external hard drive and I have all 3 of my computers working with my printer so what was done that worked, it was just fine. The fact that they somehow disrupted this link to my pictures came back and literally charged me for correcting that and I still don't have the problem corrected. Some of what they did was good and some of what they did was bad. He should not have charged me for the time that it took for him to try to figure out the problem that was created by them in the first place. I ended up paying for them to correct something that didn't get corrected. I truly don't think that I was charged appropriately. Now I am going to take it to an Apple technician and see if they can help me to correct the problem that was created by Compudoc. There's money involved besides my time, but forget about that, I just want those pictures back. $79 an hour, they come to your home and it was very worth it to me to get all my computers hooked up into my printer the second time on. That was worth the $79 and I expected that to be about an hour. He did back up my external drive which what I have gotten in the very beginning the first time he was out here, but some of the stuff take time because it takes time to upload/download whatever it is you download so I understand that that takes time, that I have a lot of pictures and a lot of data that it took time to go on to the external hard drive. I told him he doesn't have to wait for that, he can just get it doing, I'll be surely fine. If the services were effective, I would say their pricing is just fine. The per hour fee is fine but it seemed to stretch out for a lot longer than I expected. What I would suggest to people using this service is any service like this, get an upfront estimate of how much time it's going to take. I was surprised and I believe he charged me for 3 hours and I just don't know that he was even there for 3 hours, maybe I didn't watch the time. The per hour fee is fine. Just watch to make sure that it doesn't exceed or if they think they should. It was just the picture blockage that I'm concerned about. Everything worked out okay, I could have been left unhappy, but I'm still way up over $500 for what I think shouldn't have been over $500. I have a lot of data on the computer and it took time. I don't think they should be charging, especially in the shop, the run time. If you have to run something and it takes time and you're doing other things, there should be a more appropriate charging. What's good was good, and what's not good is not good so it's somewhere in between there. There's a middle ground, I guess. They responded to emails and stuff so they were very good on responsiveness. For their punctuality, they had to change the time but that was fine. I won't use them again. I said to the owner that Angie's List is going to want a review and the fact that I can't get in to my pictures, I'm going to have to tell them that and that's something you don't want in your review. He said he didn't so Matt came out again. It would have been neater to evaluate if I had only had him come out to fix the problem, but I had him come out to fix the problem and to do some other services for me so it gets a little muddy. It's the accessibility of the pictures and they came out twice and they actually charged me what was not correct in the first place. That is my complaint. I had the impression that the guy didn't know how to do it. He spent time trying to figure out how to open the pathway to my pictures and he didn't know how.

Hello: I am Matt the technician and I would like to responded to this review. First I will gladly take any steps to help resolve any issues you still have with the computer at no additional cost. I have spoken with the owner Gareth Spicer, and explanined the situation, and he has agreed to work on this at no cost in his shop. He is the most experienced tech with 19 years professional experience, and I have explained the problem in great detail. He only asks that you drop it off to him, and allow a day or two for him to work on it. Again at no cost. In the meantime I would also like to publicly respond to your review so that other prospective customers have a clear understanding and all the facts. We first met when you purchased a big deal on Angies List. You called us a few months ago because your mac laptop would not boot up. I came to your home and looked at the situation, and quickly realized the problem. The problem was this, when you would plug in your camera, to download pictures, if you dont tell your mac where to store them, it dumps them on your desktop. Your desktop had thousands and thousands of pictures and they were stacked on top of each other on the desktop, to the point that as the computer is booting, the apple OS makes thumbnails or previews of every picture, and a mac laptop like yours that should take about a minute to boot was taking hours (I didnt wait long enough to find out). When the mac was somewhat booted up, even then, when we tried to click on anything it took forever to respond. After I arrived I took a few minutes and looked over the situation and quickly knew that I had two choices to try to solve this issue. Choice #1: Try to somehow stay on site and try and move thousands and thousands of pictures off the desktop using a painfuly slow computer (slow because it was drowned in thousands and thousands of desktop pictures). At $75/hr your bill would have been thousands, and I would have been there a few days, or option #2 quote a flat rate of 3 hours $225, and take the computer with me, and remove the hard disk, and plug your hard disk into a clean mac and backup all your data , then wipe out your mac OS and create a few folders on your desktop, and move your photos into them. To save my time, and your money I decided to take it to the shop and backup all your data and reload a fresh copy of your mac OSX. Backing up thousands of pictures and reloading your MAC OSX with all updates, and then moving those same thousands of photos back in to your mac took well over 6 hours, and I still only charged you for 3 hours. I do remember that there was 60GB of pictures ALONE, not including your documents and software programs. Most photos are 3mb in size , so if there was 60gb of photos, that means there were about 20,000 photos =/-. After I finished the mac ran great after that. It was fast , and error free, and all the photos I backed up were easily accessable on your desktop. A short time goes by, and you purchased one of our big deals again. So I came out again, this time you wanted me to setup all kinds of periphirals on your wireless network, like multiple computers , and I think an ipad and a few other gadgets , and misc things, you had also mentioned that you were having problems accessing your photos. So, I was there about 2 hours, and finished all the network/wireless/printer setup work, when I started looking at the "missing pictures issue". You explained that you use iphoto to organize all of your photos , and using iphoto many of the photos have an "!" and wont open. I explained to you that Iphoto keep track of where the photos are stored , and when the photos are moved to a different location the database that keeps track of those photos does not update by itself. I explained that I HAD to move over 20,000 photos off your desktop because that is what crashed the computer. I photo is STILL looking for those photos on the desktop, and is not smart enough to look elsewere. I am aware of a few tools to try to update the iphoto database and I even tried , and it failed. I tried two different iphoto tools to rebuild the database and both failed. I reminded you that your photos are all there safe and sound in folders on the desktop, and even showed you. I also showed you how to go in and fix each individial photo in Iphoto as I dont think you want me clicking on 20,000 photo individually at $75/hr. I read your review, and thought "is there anywhere or anything I did wrong"? The answer is no, nothing. All in all I kept your interest at heart, and I never lost even 1 file from your computer. Our offer still stands to have you drop it off at our shop and the owner will do his best to rebuild the iphoto database which will take hours to sort out,at no cost. Gareth the owner can be reached at 702-871-1881.
