Compudoc Computer Repair

I went to Compudoc relying on their good reviews. I wish I hadn’t been so trust worthy. They broke my laptop. I took in my laptop for a hinge repair. They said it’d take 2-3 days. It took 3 1/2 weeks and it still wasn’t fixed. I picked up my laptop today cause I had enough of their horrible service. They never updated me on what they were doing to my laptop until I’d reach out and ask. They put on a “new” cover on my laptop without notifying me but it was actually just tape. I went in to pick up my laptop a few days ago when it was supposedly ready, but the laptop screen wasn’t working. I left it so they could fix it but I felt uneasy, so I picked it up today and it was completely disassembled. I took it to Best Buy and Fry’s. They told me it was broken and could not be fixed. And to add to that, they didn’t give me all of my laptop’s parts back. There are parts missing even though I asked for them all back. This was all for a HINGE repair, so I don’t see why they needed to take out the rest of the parts of the laptop. This place has horrible service and it’s untrustworthy. I was too patient and too nice for too long.

These guys are great....did a lot of work for an incredibly fare fee. If you have a computer issue this is the group to call.

CompuDoc Yelp Review Unfortunately it is with great regret that I am writing a unfavorable review for CompuDoc as I once thought this was the best computer repair company in the valley and have referred many of my friends, colleagues and family members here for service. I had a terrible experience with taking in an external hard drive to be fixed simply because the port for the usb connector was jammed. I took it in knowing that there was NOTHING ELSE WRONG with it whatsoever. When I brought it in, I asked for Gareth and told his technician Matt that my husband and I was used to dealing with Gareth so I wanted to wait until he came in to work on the hard drive but he insisted that I go ahead and leave it with him or he wasn’t sure when I’d ever catch Gareth in the office. So I did. A day or so later, Matt called and left a message on my voicemail telling me that he could see 18 gigs of data which included videos, pictures and various, random files. I immediately called him back and he told him that if I wanted him to fix it, it would be a quick and easy job because the hard drive was definitely not damaged and all he had to do was order a new casing for the motherboard and transfer mine over to the new one. Since I was so adamant about still wanting Gareth to do the job, Matt assured me that he would back up all my data onto their system before opening up and transferring any of my data to the new casing. I pleaded with him to take good care of it and told him I’d really rather just wait to see Gareth because he had saved data from my husband’s computer once before and this time was extra special because my husband had recently been killed and I knew that the flash drive had precious, priceless pictures, videos and memories, including some of his music files that I was so afraid of losing. I was called in about a week later by Matt, who told me everything went well and the casing he ordered was in so I could pick up my new hard drive whenever I wanted. Unfortunately, while waiting in the Jones office for him to release it to me, he began having trouble with pulling up the files and told me he forgot to backup the data! I stood there with gut wrenching devastation for what seemed like forever, until he said the dreadful words...”Everything has been lost”! I asked, right then and there, for him to call Gareth. He said Gareth was unavailable and he wasn’t sure when Gareth would ever be in the office since he rarely was anymore. So I left my number and asked him to have Gareth call me. A week went by, then two weeks, then over a month and I still hadn’t received a phone call from Gareth. So on December 22nd, I stopped by the Jones store again and this time Matt was abrupt and rude in nature and told me there was nothing anyone was going to do for me at all. I then requested that he call Gareth on spot while I was standing there. He did and once Gareth was on the line, Matt handed me his phone. I talked very briefly with Gareth and expressed my concern and desire to talk to him in private. He told me to hand Matt back the phone and to leave my number so he could call me later because he was just about to travel for the holidays on a road trip. To make this long story short, I never received a respectful phone call from Gareth, the Owner, No one EVER apologized for losing my data and damaging my hard drive and to top it all off, when I went back to ask for my property, I was threatened, harassed and told they’d call the police on me for trespassing just because I wanted someone to have an ounce of compassion for their error and dishonesty. I am severely saddened by the loss of my memories of my family that I will never get back. This place is NOT THE SAME as it once was. DO NOT TRUST THEM!!

Matt is always helpful in fixing my problems and have requested his services several times and have nothing but great things to say about him and his professionalism. I will be hiring him again I'm sure! Thank you Matt

Very well. Done earlier than promised, right on price

The service person was very knowledgeable, constantly asked me questions as needed, and wanted to make sure I was completely satisfied with what had been done to my computer before leaving.

It was alright. His attitude was not very positive. I just felt like I was putting him out. He did what he was supposed to do, I guess. I won't use him again. The price was good. He could have seen what the other person really wanted and related to it.

Matt came by at 6:30. He was running late but that is understandable when working with computers but he kept informed of why and when he will arrive at my house. I recently purchased a turntable and hooked it up to my personal computer but was unable to hear it. Matt went through all the settings and found the problem. He also showed me what he did and why I had the sound problem. On my laptop he ran a defrag of my C drive which is better than the Windows defrag and now my laptop runs quicker. Matt was very professional and personable. He walked me through all the steps of what he did and asked if I had any questions. The cost was more because he was here over two hours but it was worth it. I would highly recommend CompuDoc Computer Repair to all.

he couldn't do anything I had bad equipment and he didn't have the experience to address my other problems

This is the second time in a year that I have used Matt Lopez and his company, Compudoc. This time the problem was with my wife's computer, which was experiencing an inability to get anything but really low volume from its Altec-Lansing speakers. When computer service people find that solving customers' problems takes longer than expected, it can back them up a bit. Matt was more than 90 minutes late getting to me for just that reason, but he called me once to tell me this fact and then called again to tell me he was on his way. I really think I couldn't have asked for more. Through a process of testing the computer's speaker settings and downloading a driver for this specific set of speakers, Matt determined he had to look closely at the hardware. After swapping out the subwoofer from my computer's identical speaker system, he confirmed that the subwoofer on my wife's speaker system had failed. With the solution being to replace the speaker system, I was able to visit Fry's that evening and buy a nice Creative speaker system on sale for half off. I quickly installed this system and now the speakers work fine. As I wrote a year ago when I first used Compudoc, Matt Lopez is a whiz at what he does. He is congenial and extremely informative in explaining what he's doing and answering questions. I could not be more enthusiastic in recommending Compudoc to anyone in need of a computer professional.

Not adept with the computer so unable to fully explain what was done but I plan to follow up with this company and hopefully improve my computer skills. Service Tech was polite, patient and was quite thorough in answering my many questions. Would recommend him to anyone.

I did not use, bought as a gift for my daughter. Evidently, they came out to her home, were not able to totally fix the computer to the best of my recollection. She said the service was fine, but eventually had to replace the computer. Please do not use this review as I am not totally able to remember what was told to me.

Repairs cost was same as original. I was kept posted of progress. Work completed one day earlier than original estimate. Would use again

I was very pleased with them. They gave us a time they will show up and they showed up at that time, they fixed the problem and left.

It didn't work out really well at all. I had a problem getting out look to work again on my lap top. They gave me a number to call somebody else to do the work. This person broke a couple of appointments which delayed the process and then he came out and worked on the computer for a couple of hours but he got nothing done on it. This all cost me extra and the point was he kept working and didn't tell me it was going to cost more. He didn't fix the computer.

Matt came to my house and worked for an hour and a half to eliminate all the problems I had mentioned to him. He was congenial, informed, and efficient. I would call upon him again in the future if needed. Hopefully, the instructions he gave me will help me to eliminate a number of problems I had basically been causing myself!

repair person could not figure out either one. terrible service. took our computer to another company who figured it out immediately. will never use this company again.

My laptop was giving me a warning message that the fan was not working properly. I went to Compudoc, bringing my laptop with me. The technician bitched that it was a HP, and said they were the worst computers. I told him about the warning message, and also said the battery was not charging properly. The technician promptly started up my laptop and verified the warning message. Then he took compressed air and sprayed it into the vents of the laptop for about 60 seconds. He started the laptop again and got the same warning message. He told me the cost so far was $75. As I began to object that I hadn't been made aware there was a charge for this, he stated he would drop the charge if I allowed him to repair the laptop. I asked him how much it would cost, and he said he would need to get back to me. Later that day, I received a call that the laptop needed a new fan and battery, and the cost for this would be $210. I told them I would pick it up the next morning. He warned me that I would have to pay the 75 dollar diagnostic fee if I didn't allow him to do the repairs. I declined because 1) I wasn't going to do business with a company that charged me $75 for 60 seconds of compressed air without telling me there would be any charge at all, and 2) another company had already given me a (free) estimate of $115. I went the next morning and, after paying them their $75, was able to pick up my laptop without further incident.

The service went very well. My fairly new desktop computer was giving me problems and had frozen up on me. Compudoc showed up promptly and serviced the computer. He fixed my computer and installed a program to prevent future problems with the computer. I was asked several times if I needed anything more during his visit. He was very receptive to my needs and I was very satisfied with the service. If I need help in the future, I will be calling Compudoc.

Great communication, punctual, professional, and really knew his stuff. He made my very slow computer run well again and taught me a few things in addition.
