Description of Work: HE LOOKED AT COMPUTER, and it was "borken" - it is old - he figured out how to buy just one part and use the old printer, screen, etc, so it cost me less than half of what a new computer would have cost, but now it "acts" just like new - the new system is a little bit different, he gave me a pretty long and very patient tutorial about how to use what etc. He is a very pleasant guy, answers all questions, gives alternatives, not high pressure. I would recommend him to anyone -- he also gave me his cell number in case I ran into early problems that could be solved over the phone.

Description of Work: This business is knowledgeable, professional, courteous and priced reasonably. Yes, I would definitely use Compudoc again and have already passed out a couple of their business cards. Over the past couple of weeks, I have had to travel to Compudoc three times to replace my cord, charger and battery for my laptop. The diagnosis of bad parts was correct. The cord/charger were replaced immediately by the courteous woman and the battery was ordered. During the interval between order and pickup, my laptop started flashing an 'error' message. When I went to pickup the battery, Gareth discovered that the cord/charger was the wrong setup for my computer. The replacement was based on original equipment and Fry's had sold me the wrong one. Not only did Gareth research and order the correct one, he fixed the error message and lent me a spare cord/charger until the correct one came in.

They told me what to try before coming over and gave me their time on the phone. when I dropped the computer off they gave me a fair estimate which by the way did not change. They were professional and took care of the problem. The computer had been running slow before it froze and they took care of that problem as well. In the past they have even performed some extra service just because. Great company and I always use them and recommend as well.

Description of Work: Monday, (Day 1): Technician arrived (at my home)initially diagnosed 2-yr computer with a video card problem. Left my computer running a program to check for errors on my hard drive. Called technician when program completed (45 minutes after his departure), showing no errors on hard drive. [PER INVOICE: Paid $105.00 for 1.5 hour labor to diagnose video issue (on board) and test memory & hard drive sector, find no errors] Tuesday, (Day 2): Returned with video card. Installed video card, same problem persisted as to why I originally requested service. Screen had "pixilations" and "ghosting" (these are terms the tech used). After installation of video card did not remedy the problem, the technicial informed me that the motherboard needs replacement. He contacted his supplier (online) while at my home and informed me the cost and expected delivery (10-14 days). I then asked if the motherboard was indeed available and can I pay for a "rush" shipment. Technician said he would call me the next day to find out availability and expedited shipping/cost..[PER INVOICE: Paid $70.00 for 1 hour labor to diagnose bad motherboard and research special order on replacement motherboard]. Wednesday, (Day 3): Early afteroon I called this technician to find out the status of the montherboard in question. I was told motherboard was available with 2 day shipping. Authorized my credit card payment via phone in agreement of $190.00 (part $130 and 2-day shipping $60). I was told to drop off my computer at their location, motherboard would arrive on Friday (Day 5), and would be available for pick up on Saturday (Day 6).Saturday, picked up my computer, which I would have liked the technician to reinstall computer and all peripheral components where this computer resides (ie, MY HOUSE) to test that all is as expected and paid for. [PER INVOICE:Paid $125.39 for 2 hours install replacement motherboard and test and tax on the motherboard). Got home, hooked everything up and same problem.We then called Samsung (monitor mfg) and according to our description, our warrantied monitor was the cause. They arranged for us to ship the unit back to them to diagnose, repair and/or replace this unit. Still Saturday, we've been without use of the computer for 1 week. Went to Costco, purchased a Samsung monitor, installed a new monitor and NO PROBLEMS! All "pixilation", "ghosting", "hard drive", "motherboard", all other scenarios that this technician/company threw out on the table were FALSE. I paid them a total of $555.39 and their fix was not the problem. I never once heard this technician, perhaps we can test your monitor. Wouldn't you think the technician would have a laptop available to hook up to my monitor to test to see if this was the source of the problem? Sunday (Day 7) I contacted the "owner" at the main location (westside), left a message with the voicemail asking him to contact me at his earliest convenience on Monday (supposedly 24/7 service available), Wanted to follow up with them to let them know that my monitor was the problem. I never got the chance to have dialogue, NO RETURN CALL. They got their money, technician suffers from ADHD, this company and it's owner is a s******* (scam).
