They were recommended to me by my insurance company. These guys are exceptional. I have never worked with such great guys. I was apprehensive of the water leak and my water bill was going to be high. I called them and they came out a couple of days later. They explained that they don?t do jack hammer on the floor anymore but they rob it over head. I was not okay that they have to put holes in the walls. They came in and had it all done in one day. The two guys that were here were so nice and they knew that I was a little apprehensive and that said that it was going to be okay and it will work out. Then another guy came to patch up the wall. I never had such two guys come in and they cleaned up everything after they were done. They placed plastic on the wall before the other guy came in to do his part.

Eddie came out and convinced me that the best thing to do was cut a hole in my wall to find the problem. It turned out that it was by bathtub leaking into the ceiling, Eddie was the diagnostic person so he wasn't able to fix the problem but I'm glad he was able to find the problem. When cutting the hole he taped plastic around it to avoid making a mess on my things. He cleaned up after he was done, no complaints. He was very informative and explained exactly what the issue was in a way that I would understand, he was excellent. He came dressed appropriately and he was very neat in the way he worked. Eddie arrived in a timely fashion.
Description of Work: I called American leak detection because we have had an ongoing moister issue in my kitchen ceiling. I have had at least six different plumber come out and try to detect the problem.

The process took much longer than I had thought. Multiple calls and visits over a month to finally determine the source of the leak (I hope!). I don't know why the initial technician could not be scheduled for my job. He did good work when I could get him on site but it was always a struggle and took multiple calls to get the services I needed.

Water company notified me that i probably had a leak. we checked the house before calling American Leak Detection. While checking the house one of the 1/4 turn valves under a bathroom sink broke off. Rob showed up on time and repaired the valve and then did the leak detection and determined that the leak was in the mainline in the front yard but was 3-4 feet deep. With the Angie's list discount he charged $260 for the leak detection and the repair. While leak detection services are expensive, there are not a heck of alot of alternatives and Rob knew what he was doing and explained the process well. The only bad part of the inspection was American Leak Detection's refusal to quote an hourly rate for the repair. Rob's quote to repair the leak was "not to exceed $1,000." I recognize there are issues that may cause a job to be difficult but thats why an hourly rate should be quoted. I think I can get someone else to do the job on an hourly rate so I won't be using American Leak Detection for the repair. They should really reconsider their policy of not quoting a reasonable hourly rate.

thank you for your input and suggestion. we have brought this up to our corporate offices before. but, i have seen in las vegas an hourly rate turns into a 2 day job, when it really could be done in 3/4 of a day. thus, many times people end up paying more for the same service because they got a "deal" with an hourly rate. even with our not to exceed pricing, we have run into problems that have caused the repair to take 2-3 days which is totally unforeseen. but, we have held to the not to exceed pricing. this way the homeowner knows the very worst case scenario. again, thanks for the input and i will pass the suggestion on to our corporate offices.

The technician arrived as scheduled on 03/13/2014. From the "Leak Detection Report": "Called out for water damage to wall dividing properties. Performed electronic detection on homeowner's property finding no leaks and no meter movement at this time. Inspected neighbor's yard finding leak in valve box and line to drip system separated and leaking to be likely cause of damage to the wall.Turned off irrigation system to neighbor's yard for the time being." This report from an independent third party which the technician gave me and also sent me via e-mail had a few pictures of the wall damage in question. This was just what I needed since it looked like I might have to take my neighbor to Small Claims Court if he refused to reimburse me for the damage to my wall ($926.00 which he did eventually pay). The only issue that I have with the service provided is that it was a "bit expensive" for the time and effort (minimal, 15-20 minutes) expended by the technician. Even with the 10% off Angie's List coupon that I had my cost was still $225.00 ($250.00 less $25.00). Otherwise everything else was smooth sailing.
Description of Work: I was experiencing extensive water damage to the painted north concrete block wall (CMU) that I share with my next-door neighbor. The ground/soil beneath my side of the wall was completely saturated and I suspected that the source of the problem was a leak originating on my neighbor's side of the wall since I could not find a leak on my side. After one week's time with no response from my neighbor after first bringing this water problem to his attention, I called American Leak Detection to specifically determine the source of the problem.

This leak started three days ago when I was digging bush roots in the front yard with a huge iron bar and accidentally punctured a one inch master sprinkler pipe making a fountain ten feet high. I fixed the sprinkler pipe but that night I heard water running in the bathroom. My water meter said it was one gallon per minute. I listened to the water valve on the wall behind the toilet and heard the sound the loudest there using a stethascope. The wall valve also could be moved up and down making me think there was a cavity being formed from a leak below the slab. Since the master sprinkler valve was just on the other side of the house wall I thought that hitting the pipe outside might have jarred the copper pipe under the slab. I have had multiple under the slab leaks before. I called American Leak Detection and the lady set up an appointment for Rob to come that day if he could finish his other jobs. He called later that day and said he was really busy and could I wait till the morning and if so, he would give me a discount because of not being able to come that day as promised. He said I hope your house isn't flooded. I said no, its flooded under the slab and I would turn off the water at the street for the night as I have been doing the previous two days. He showed up promptly today at 9 as he promised and got out his ultrasonic contact microphone unit. I explained my scenario and my experiments and possible conclusions that I suspected a leak under the slab behind the toilet. He then took his instrument and touched that valve and went around to the other bathroom and kitchen and listened there. He also listened to the sprinkler master valve in the front yard and the hose bib there and said he could hear it there as well although I had heard nothing on those with my stethascope. He then pressureized the hose bib with a compressed air tank and went and looked at the water meter, which was still moving in the same direction and not backwards as it could have. He then listened again at the different locations. His logic then said he didn't think the leak was in the bathroom at all and we went into the back yard. There, we heard a hissing from the air, and the leak was the rear hose bib with hose attached in deep grass. He said this is your leak and turned off the valve tightly. I had been in the back yard in the past two days and had heard nothing nor saw any water. He then unhooked the air and bled the air out of the pipes and checked the water meter again. No leak. I said "You're the man" and patted him on the shoulder.. "It was worth every cent" since I was prepared to dig in my bathroom. His experience was better than my logic and I would have dug for nothing if I hadn't hired him.
Description of Work: He found a leak that I thought was under the slab since I could hear it in the bathroom at the toilet wall valve. It turned out just to be a leaking hose valve in the back yard.

I use them all the time and they are the best. I told my neighbors that if they want to fix their leaks then use American Leak Detection. There is one guy there that is really good and his name is Jonathan Bradley. They are very reasonable for the work that they do. Jonathan found a water leak in my backyard. I was paying almost $1,000 a month with this water leak and nobody could find it. So he came out and he found it right away. The price is very reasonable.

After successfully locating the source of the problem he gave me choices on how we could approach this situation and how much those options would cost. He patiently answered my questions and made the entire process as painless as possible. Mile also checked other items for me that could have the potential for trouble later. I will absolutely use this company's service again I found him fair and honest. I would have been so easy to take advantage of the situation or exploit the prices be he did neither. Thank you Mike!
Description of Work: My plumbing specialist was Mike who arrived punctually and proceeded to not only ask a seried of questions but go through a series of tests to locate the source of my leak. Once he had ascerained what the problem was he gave me options on what we could do and pricing for those options.

I had a leak in 2011 in my in-ground spa, 8ft x 8ft. My auto fill was running non-stop. I emptied the spa and was deciding to fill it in or fix it. In May of 2013 I decided to re-plaster the spa and get it working. The sun baked the plaster so I wanted to make sure there was no leaks prior to re-plastering. I filled up the spa in May and within a day I lost over a foot of water. I called American Leak Detection and they were very responsive. They gave me the Angie's List discount and were out within a week. The guys (can not remember names) checked the pipes completing pressure checks and told me they could not find any leaks and left after an hour or two. A few days later I was losing water again in the spa an called them back. Again, very responsive and this time they completed a dive test checking all the fitting and using dye. I was again told they could not find a leak......So I decided to replaster the spa. The spa did hold water but would lose water on occasion prior to replastering. I figured there might be a crack in the plaster they couldnt find and the replaster would fix the problem. I did the bucket test and I was definitely losing water. I replastered my spa in November, 2013, and the spa was losing water on a daily basis, about 3 inches each day after filling it up each day for a week. This time I called Accurate Leak Detection and within 2 minutes of the crew showing up they found my Chlorinator was cracked around the entire top of the canister, under the lid. They turned off the valve to the chlorinator at the pump and no more troubles. I use a chlorine duck so I don't need the Chlorinator. I would have to seal the opening above the cansiter to use it in the future. At the end of the day, American Leak Detection cost me $270.00 and they never found the leak, no matter how nice and responsive they were. ****UPDATE: I am changing my review because I requested a refund from ALD after reading their response to my original post. I received it today in the mail. This is the way to do business and I appreciate it.

I am the new owner of this home, and a first time pool owner. I hadn't notice that the water level in the pool had risen. I just knew that my water bill kept going up every month. All I needed to do was replace a washer in the pool auto water feeder and set the float to the correct lower level. He was at my home for less than 2 minutes, and said there would be no charge. I guess he took pitty on this newbe pool owner. If I ever need to check for a REAL leak, I would absolutely call these guys. Problem solved, lesson learned.
Description of Work: Eddie called about 10 minutes before he arrived, and arrived at the scheduled appointment time. He came over to check for a leak in or around my pool. He took one look at my pool and said " I know where your leak is, we don't have to go any further." He said I had a malfunction in my auto water feed for my pool and it was overfilling my pool and leaking around the sides of the pool and skimmer just below the lip of the pool edge.

The technician arrived on time and proceeded to check out our water system. He did an extremely thorough job, concluding that the increased water consumption was due to several broken lawn sprinkler heads and the automated watering controller was seriously misprogrammed. We were quite happy with the service we recieved..
Description of Work: Our water bill went from around $50/mo to over $200 in two months, so we needed an expert to check our water system. Late on Friday Aug 23, we called American Leak Detection, based on their rating on Angieslist. I called and left a message on their voicemail for a callback. We finally recieved a call on the following wednesday, a full three days after I left the message. We made an appointment for several days later. The appointment setter was extremely professional and even gave us the name of the technician who would be coming

He was so professional, clean polite and friendly. He even offered to take his shoes off. The technician got everything cleaned up very quickly. I highly recommend them. UPDATE: Initially everything went very well and I gave them straight A's but recently there was an issue. They called me today 12/20/13 to inform me that I never paid for the service. The girl that called was extremely rude and accusatory rather than explaining that it could have been a mistake. I hung up on her. She called again and was very rude once more. I hung up on her again. I took some time to look through my records and was unable to find any receipt or evidence of payment. I called them back and the same girl answered. She explained that there was a mistake on their part and that I was never billed and admitted that it was the company's fault. She had horrible customer service skills and had only been there for one week. The service was great and so was the technician, but this call 9 months later caught me off guard and showed an unprofessional side of this business.

The slab leak was immediately detected using their specialized equipment. We were given the option of jackhammering the floor or rerouting the line through the attic. We thought rerouting would be easier, but it was quite an ordeal requiring six holes to be cut into the walls and having to move furniture and cabinets out of the way to get to the areas where the holes needed to be cut to reroute the hot water line. Total cost did not include repairing the drywall, so if you're not handy at that, you would need to consider additional costs of paying someone to do that. The workers were very polite and efficient and the installation seems to have fixed our problem.

The first attempt to detect a leak was unsuccessful. The second attempt to detect a leak was successful and very accurate. If you hire them to detect a leak, request that they use two different methods in order to confirm the location of the leak. On their first try they only used a listening device and ended up pointing to a location that proved to be a false positive for the leak location. On the second try they injected helium into the line and using a sniffer were able to quickly locate the exact point of the leak. Had they used the helium on the first visit the leak would have been located much earlier saving me a lot of digging. Be that as it may, they ultimately did locate the leak which has subsequently been repaired and that will certainly save me a bundle.
