Description of Work: The young man who performed the service arrived promptly, and was polite and helpful. In terms of professionalism, though, he needs to pay more attention to personal cleanliness and grooming. He just checked the unit. He really didn't clean and I asked him to check the outside vent for the unit. He did have a contact which I could use to order an optional thermostat for the unit. I should say this is gas long, and most chimney sweeps work best with wood burners.

Description of Work: Our house had been a rental for a long time before we bought it. The rental maintenance guy could not make the gas fireplace work so we had sealed it off with plastic to prevent cold air from coming into the living room. Also, being a rental for several years, the chimney and the fireplace were filthy. It looked like a rat or mouse had been living in the fireplace and possibly a wasps nest had been in the chimney. The first thing he did was vacuumed up the 20 or so wasps that had invaded our living room. He then swept the chimney and cleaned the fireplace. He reorganized the fire pit sand and organized the ceramic logs. He was able to start the gas fire though it had been so long since it had been used that it was persnickety. By the time he left it got more regular. He showed me how to light it and made sure I did it myself so I knew I could do it once he left. I was very impressed with his knowledge and expertise as well as his friendly manner. He was very neat, protected the carpet with a drop cloth, and cleaned everything up when he was done. My wife and I are extremely pleased with the outcome, which is that we now have a working (and safe) fireplace.
