Described above.
Description of Work: I have used this company three times. They were recommended by a co-worker who said they were "a great family business who go to church". Ok.... First time they came to replace the water heater. So far is has been fine. The price was twice as much as equal competitors. Two workers were professional. Are you kidding me $2000 for a water heater!! Second and third time was because our downstairs toilet was no flushing and came up into the tub. They took off the toilet and placed it into the tub without putting anything down first or telling us that this was being done. They chipped the inside of the tub and had no reaction or response. They said we would have to have someone come dig up the yard, get under the house, remove something at the end of the line, etc. So, we called Rotor Rooter Plumbing afterwards because it was not fixed. They were courteous, honest and fixed the situation in less than twenty minutes! They said it was the u-bend in the pipe configuration under the toilet. They cleaned out without doing all the outside stuff the Arranda guys did. AND, charged one third the price!!

We just moved into a new home in Santa Fe! The home was bank owned and vacant two years. Since the bank had winterized the home, even after the city turned on the water, we had none! We called them and they came out in an hour! In about 3 hours, they had gotten water for us in 5 sinks, 2 bath tubs, 2 toilets, and elsewhere! Awesome!

Chris could not be more professional, knowledgable or nicer. He did an excellent job with everything. I felt that I was in good hands. After his second visit in one month, I received a $20 gift certificate to Aranda Plumbing that I can use on either products or services. I would highly recommend this company. They were punctual, courteous, knowledgeable and professional and you can't beat that!
Description of Work: This is the second time that I have used Aranda plumbing. They charge a $75.00 fee on all calls. This fee is waived if you use their services again within 30 days. I did. I had Chris and a helper remove some non-functioning grout from my shower and seal it with a silicon seal. I was having trouble with my drip irrigation leaking. Chris took a look at it, put on some new clamps, washers and a head to the faucet. He tightened the connections and re-sealed the outside faucet.

Aranda's is the place to go for plumbing supplies. While we haven't had Aranda do work for us, since 2003 they have been extremely helpful to my Ndo-it-himself husband. The quality of their products is far superior to what you'll find at the local big box hardware store. The staff is courteous, friendly, and knowledgeable.

Chris (the plumber assigned to my project that day) phoned me earlier than expected to see if he was able to come over. He came by and was immediately on top of what needed to be done. While installing the kitchen faucet, he called the shop and asked for someone to bring over parts he needed, not interrupting the tasks at hand. They were delivered, he finished the kitchen and moved on to the 2 shower heads that needed to be installed. They were done in no time at all. He checked all of his work and made sure that we were happy with the work performed before writing up the bill. My opinion is that Chris was a model of professionalism in the world of plumbing. I would recommend his company and his services for anyone's needs in the area.
Description of Work: We had a kitchen faucet replaced with one we had purchased at the Aranda Showroom, just a few blocks from our house. The showroom was so much more than I expected. This company obviously knows how to display options very well. I was promptly greeted and was helped with my problem immediately. After finding the right faucet, I booked a plumber to come the same day to do the work. In addition, I had 2 shower heads that I had purchased elsewhere that needed to be installed.

Arrived on time. Clean and neatly dressed in uniform. Very careful with his tools. Friendly and helpful. The service man removed the old faucet (by drilling it out) and installed the new faucet and deck place, providing supply lines. Work was done quickly and professionally. Very clean and neat. Cleaned up and took away old fixture and packaging for new fixture. The service man also noted some wear on a power cord for the dishwasher and stopped to apply black tape to cover the wear. Not part of the service, just being a nice guy. The price was a bit high (much more than the cost of the fixture!) but done professionally and everything is working perfectly.

Professional, punctual and good quality work! Even though Aranda's has a customer loyalty discount program and we had 10% of the cost of the work that was done., we thought it was a little pricey. But then, we didn't get estimates from other plumbers.

Please see the above question which should satisfy this question. In addition, Jake, Estevan, Ray and Trishia were proffessional, conscientious, polite, respectful, and met the urgency of the situation. Jake handled my misunderstanding of the dead gas line well. He could have clearly said that the gas line would be dead when he said he would leave a tee. That would have helped me, but probably would not have made a difference in the end. The expediency of the situation warranted that the line be left dead for now. Aranda provided as proposed and slightly exceeded what I expected from the proposal by replacing the piping and shutoffs at the heaters. I thought they would tie two of the heaters under the storeroom.
Description of Work: It was determined by the New Mexico Gas Company that there was a gas leak in the house plumbing and they turned off the gas and removed the gas meter. This was at the end of the day on Tuesday, so I could not get estimates to locate the gas leak until the next day. I got on Angies List and looked at the reviews of several companies and chose Aranda Plumbing based Angie"s List, on phone calls to several companies and based on a few questions I asked each company along with previous business I've had with Aranda's Plumping, neighbor's recomendation and their ability to respond to the urgency of my situation. Aranda's Plumbing sent out Jake and Estevan to try and locate the gas leak. They did a pressure test to checked possible locations for the leak. No leaks were visible and it was determined that the leak must be underground on the aged piping. Jake suggested that the underground piping be replaced as well as the shutoffs at the heaters and the stove. For expediency of the situation, to get the gas back on before the weekend, it was suggested and accepted that the underground gas line to one heater would not be replaced at this time but that a tee would be provided to serve this heater. I was under the understanding that the heater would be connected to the tee but Jake meant that the tee would just be there with a plug for future replacement of the underground line. Thereby, leaving the existing line to the heater dead. Jake's intention was not made evident until the proposal was accepted and work begun. Upon the misunderstanding coming to light, Jake clarified his intention and offered that after the replacement of the agreed upon gas line and if the underground line could pass a pressure test he would tie the underground line to the new gas line at the tee he mentioned he would leave. Jake stood by his word. However, the underground gas line did not pass the pressure test. After agreeing to replacing the underground gas line, Jake took the information needed to replace the agreed upon gas line and shutoffs to the office were an estimate and a proposal to do the work was put together by Ray and Trishia. Trishia called within about two or three hours with the proposal. After a little discussion with Ray for clarification on the heater tie ins and disclosure that there was not a charge for the leak detection prior to the estimate and proposal, the proposal was accepted and half of the agreed upon cost was paid for over the phone by credit card. Trishia said work would comence shortly after 1:00 pm. Jake and Estevan arrived shortly after 1:00 pm and began working as soon as the proposal was signed. They worked until about 4:00 pm, making good progress, and said they would be back about 9:00 am on Thursday. They did so and completed the gas line and shutoff installation. They proceeded to pressure test the installation. After the pressure test passed, Jake notified his office and his office notified the City inspector to come and inspect the installation. This was about 3:00 pm which did not give the inspector enough time to come out on this day. The City inspector came out the next day, Friday, and the installation past inspection. The New Mexico Gas Company was notified by me and a service man came and installed the gas meter and turned on the gas. Jake came back about 2:00 pm and rechecked the shutoffs and flex pipe for leaks. He then turned on the water heater pilot and made sure the stove flames came on. He then asked that I sign that the job was completed. On Monday, after my brother and I exposed the connection to the heater not connected, Jake came back to pressure test the gas line to the heater. It did not pass. This gas line will be replaced a future date before winter. Jake was then given payment for the last half of the agreed upon cost and was asked to have Trishia send an estimate for the cost to replace the leaking gas line to the heater. She did so within about a week and a half, as she was out of the office for the week.

When the 14-year tenants in our historic Santa Fe rental house moved out in November 2011, we realized a complete bathroom remodel was necessary. The old metal shower was rusted out and we needed a licensed plumber to install the new shower kit we purchased. Additionally, the claw foot tub had to be moved out of the bathroom to lay a new floor and we purchased a new vanity/sink that would need to be installed. Through our handyman, who got names of various plumbers from contractors he had worked with, we found Aranda's Plumbing. Their plumber met with our handyman and explained the work he would do and gave a quote of $75/hour with that initial service call waived if we hired Aranda. We approved that price. Our handyman and his helper removed everything (shower, tub and old sink) in order to tile the floor and built up the surround for the new shower in preparation of the plumber coming in. As reported by our handyman, the plumber was pleasant to work with and did a good job. I went to Santa Fe the day after the plumber was done and everything looked good. My sister, who also does not live in Santa Fe but was in charge of the money for this job, called Aranda's and spoke to Trishia DesJarlais (Trish), who said she didn’t have an invoice ready. Knowing the plumber worked approximately 21 hours over a 3-day period including probable lunch breaks (we don't know for certain he took lunch breaks when the handymen did) but excluding an hour or so when he forgot something and had to return to the office to get it, my sister sent them a partial payment of $1,000.00 on 1/13/2012 and asked our handyman to get an invoice from them. When he went to ask Trish for an invoice, she was very rude and refused to give it to him saying she would only give it to my sister even though he was the one who made all arrangements and worked with the plumber. My sister called and asked Trish to please give it to him so, again with a rude demeanor, she wrote out a very basic invoice that didn’t break down the charges. The handwritten invoice Included: Description of Work: Time and material to install shower stall and shower valve, vanity and sink, claw foot tub, adjust all plumbing to match plumbing and Flat Rate: $2954.94, Tax: $248.07, and Service Call Charge $75 (which we were told we would not be charged if we hired them) – all totaling $3,278.01. Because this was a great deal more money than we (including our handyman who was well aware of the few materials used and the time spent) expected, my sister called for a breakdown of the costs and, finally, on January 23, Trish faxed the breakdown to our handyman as follows: Material $143.61; Labor $2886.39; Tax $248.01. (Keep in mind, our two handymen assisted and we paid them separately.) Our handyman said the material charges looked appropriate but we all recognized the labor charges were excessive (approx. $138/hour rather than the $75/hour quote). Even adding time for the limited amount of materials the plumber had to gather would not have added more than a couple of hours. I thought that maybe because our handyman and his assistant were working alongside the plumber that perhaps Trish misunderstood and assumed an apprentice plumber accompanied her plumber. I urged my sister not to pay until Aranda re-figured the labor costs. After several weeks of my asking if they had responded, my sister finally told me she was embarrassed to admit that on January 19, prior to receiving the breakdown, she mailed the additional $2,278.01 but still expected Trish to return her calls with an explanation of why the labor charges were so much more than we expected and to professionally discuss a resolution, which she never has. Our handyman tried to talk with Trish but she meanly dismissed him. And Aranda's has lost more business in the long run than what we overpaid. Although the plumber was very good, I will never recommend Aranda's to anyone.

Response from Aranda Plumbing & Heating Inc
Aranda’s Plumbing Heating and Supply, Inc. is a licensed and bonded company that has been in business for 64 years. We informed the customer that there would be a one-time $75 service charge, plus time and material. We stated that we would not charge additional service charges even though we would be returning on different days to accommodate the handyman as he performed his work. Jake Martinez spent a total of 24 hours, over 4 separate days working on the job. At the end of each work day, she was called by Jake and was informed of the work completed, and received an update on the current cost. I would then follow-up with her to make sure she was up to date on work completed and answer any questions, if necessary. Our work was completed on January 11, 2012 (Wednesday). Since I had been in contact with the customer, I knew she was going to have surgery on Thursday, January 12th. I let her know that I would call her the following week to discuss the final bill to allow her time to recover. I spoke with her at the beginning of the following week and informed her of all work completed and total cost of work performed. The customer said she would mail the payment. We received the final payment on the 20th. The handyman requested a breakdown and I informed him that we would need authorization from her since she was the customer. I let him know that once she approved that, I could send him what he requested. She contacted me and requested a breakdown be sent to the handyman on Friday, January 21st. I faxed the breakdown the following business day to the handyman on Monday, January 23rd. Aranda’s Plumbing did not receive any other requests from the handyman or the customer after that date. If the customer had expressed any concern about work performed, total amount charged, or customer service, I would have addressed the issue. Neither myself, nor upper management received a complaint about service. The total cost on the invoice for labor was $2,886.39. Cost per hour, for 24hrs of work performed, breaks down to $120.26. This is a fair rate, for quality work, from a licensed and bonded plumbing company.

On south side of home, external spigot has had freezing and leak problems past three winters. 3 previous companies have done repairs, and each subsequent winter the spigot freezes again (oddly enough the spigot on the shaded/colder north side of house has never frozen). Aranda's completely removed all metal parts and replaced with PEX tubing, installed an access panel on inside wall that matches plaster in case of future needs and advised on care. However, after installation, the Aranda's spigot constantly drips in a steady stream. Installer said that this was normal for exterior hose bibs. I have NEVER seen that "normal/constant" dripping on any other house and don't buy the explanation. In addition, Aranda's snaked toilet drain but were unable to improve flush power. They snaked both before and after removing toilet. They replaced toilet but had to return to shop for a replacement wax ring. Advise was to get a new toilet, which is fair, but $400 for these two issues, one of which no improvement was made, seems quite expensive. In 20/20 hindsight, a rigid foam hose bib cover for $2 and a brand new toilet kit from a home improvement store for $153 would have cost less than half as much and been money much better spent.
Description of Work: Replace spigot on freeze damaged hose big, south side of home. Troubleshoot low flush power on low flow toilet that had previously worked well.
