Drip watering system installed. Two driveways in front of my house were demolished and debris was removed, ground was filled and compacted, tubing sleeves were laid prior to pouring concrete for drip watering system, and concrete poured and finished. We have been pleased with the appearance and there has been no evidence of settling or cracking since installation.

Bill was responsive from the very beginning, even though we played phone tag for a couple of days. He came over ON TIME, had his card, tools and notebook and was able to listen to me, communicate with me and make it clear that he understood what I wanted. After going over various options, measuring, etc. he left and contacted me within days, letting me know that he had sent a proposal to my email. It was agreed that the job had to be engineered and I hired someone to do the necessary specs to be reviewed by the city. Bill took care of all of the permitting details. We met again and signed the contract. Whelchel & Gleason (the guys) were there, as promised, as soon as the permit was ready. This was within less than a week. Every single week day, they were there before 8 am and began working right away. Chris Gleason went over concerns of mine. Just like I asked, they put all tiles, rocks, fencing, etc. to the side, nicely stacked to be re-used later. Chris made sure that I understood that there would be a lot of dirt. This became a funny saying that was used all day, every day............'a lot of dirt'. And it was....a lot of dirt and A LOT of work. He also made sure that I understood and could visualize what was the finished product was going to be. I can hardly believe they pulled it off! Besides punctuality, professionalism and down and dirty hard work, these guys had fun together all day every day. They joked and listened to music and told stories while they worked. I haven't seen this kind of teamwork in a long time but truly appreciated how they all got each other through and kicked butt every day. I'm sure that I'm missing some things. All of the guys were a pleasure to see each day. They were safety conscious of my dogs getting out and battened down all the hatches at the end of each day. (and they gave them lots of hugs in the morning). They were genuinely personal too. So, all of this comes after 2 years of getting estimates. I got at least 18 estimates. The bids were way low and way high. I am so glad that I waited and chose the perfect company. Amazing. These walls will never come down. The guys did an amazing job from start to finish. I have been a business owner as well as a floor layer's helper, plumber's helper and bricklayer's helper. I am from Virginia where businesses really have to stand out in the construction field. It was hard finding someone to trust with everything and believe that they really do just want to work hard and do a good job... I totally recommend Bill and Chris and the guys! Beautiful work!! i was very happy with the way i was contacted and how they showed up to quote the job. i have a 20ft long wall i need installed for a minnie retaining wall. I removed the rocks and had the site marked for underground facilities. i even went as far to dig the trench for the foundation. the guy came out and said it would run 800.00 to do the job and he said i would get a discount for all the prep work i had done. I even got a quote same day. i know every one is on a budget and so i asked if i could do in stages but was shut down and said that there was a minimum dollar amount of 800.00 and he could not do it in stages. so that got me thinking i figured out the cost of materials cement about 90.00, 30 blocks about 40 bucks and a couple bags of mortar 20.00 that came out to 150.00 so you take 800-150= 650.00 for labor thats insane. so 2 workers taking 2 days only working 4 hrs a day is 16hrs divide by 650= 40 dollars a hr. I'm not expecting free work but be reasonable.

Good. Crews kept regular hours, were inobtrusive, kept work site clean and neat. Cleaned up after job. Stonework was outstanding.

This whole process was extremely smooth. After I contacted Whelchel, I received an email letting me know that a sales person would be contacting me. Later that day Dmitri gave me a phone call and made an appointment to come look at my yard and talk with me. He showed up right on time and talked with me about what I wanted. He said he would have a proposal and plan in about a week. Exactly a week later he contacted me and set up an appointment to review the plan. The plan was very good and included all the features I wanted. Dmitri had listened closely to me. We finalized the plan within a few days. The day the work started Dmitri came back out to my house and introduced me to the crew and the project manager. The entire crew was polite and nice and worked very hard! They answered all my questions and took care of any concerns that I had. The work took about a week. My new yard is beautiful and has improved the value of my house. All my friends are amazed by the transformation.

It should be finished up in the middle of next week. Everything is going fine so far. The work crew came in yesterday and they're just very business-like and they went about with their work. Their communication was in as scheduled. It could have been a little better. It's not a real problem. The price was about what I anticipated. There were no real hang-ups on that.

My propane tank was in the ground by a bank of dirt/sand. Every time it rained it buried the top of the tank causing me to dig it out to read the meter and get a fill up. The landscaping company came in and sculpted the bank and surrounding area and built a retaining wall that was six stones high in the bank and tapered down on the sides. The finished product looked fantastic. When they provided the initial estimate they said it would probably be a couple of weeks before they could start. However in a couple of days a group was out doing the initial dig out and laying of brick and came back three days later to finish up. The delay in finishing was primarily due to weather, It snowed for a couple of days. They did a fantastic job and I would highly recommend them.

The estimate included other work that needs to be done (based on my request). The estimator purposely itemized all the work that needed to be done in groupings that reflected my priorities. Because I was not able to afford the work in its entirety at the time, the estimate made it easy for me to identify portions of the work to be completed over time. The company was very accommodating in providing the work in parcels. The job crew that arrived was friendly and professional, and arrived when they said they would. If they were unclear about what I wanted, they would ask me. If they had alternative suggestions, they would run it by me before undertaking the work. The crew was efficient and it was obvious they were experienced and knew what they were doing. The finished job is exactly what I had discussed with the estimator and I am excited to have them back to do the other work that is needed.

We have absolutely no complaints about this company. Everything went smoothly on this project. The workers were on time every day of the project and obviously took pride in their work. While other companies that we obtained bids from gave us a basic bid and never followed up this company contacted us after bid submittal to answer any follow up questions that we might have. During the project the on-site personnel also made suggestions for some tweaks to our original design idea. Every correction they suggested was spot-on and increased the quality of the project. We recommend Whelchel and Gleason with no hesitation.

Bill was prompt and professional with his estimate and made a number of good suggestions on the work we were considering. We did not have his company do the project for a number of intangible reasons, but we would not hesitate to hire them in the future.

They laid driveway in the back yard and 1.5 I do now see a crack in an area where you don’t drive on but you do walk on.

The finish job was excellent. Unfortunately, the only scheduled appointment that was on time was the initial estimate and bid. After that it took over 6 weeks to get the work completed. Each time a step was scheduled, it was then delayed without notice (all but 1 time) many times when the next step was scheduled to be done the next day, the works showed up a week or more later.

The job went well and quickly. I chose Whelchel because of their pricing and that they were a large enough company with enough employees to be able to complete the work in a reasonable time. The clincher for me in choosing this company was meeting and working with Brent, their estimator. Brent is a terrific person and was always attentive and remained involved with the job until it was finished. I always felt that any issues I had would be addressed because of his obvious work ethic. I had had a design developed which they worked with and where I needed to cut costs or decided to revamp the design, Brent worked with me by coming up with alternative ideas until we came up with the right answers to complete my project. The guys that did the actual work were all friendly, polite and professional and did a really good job. I LOVE my new yard!

After we called he came by and gave us a bid which we accepted. The workers custom cut the stone to make a curved pathway of flagstone from porch and under gate to the driveway. The work was professional and looks great!

They were really good. We did not get it done right away because I ended up moving my mom down here because she was really ill so we put it off actually for a very long time. He was really really very nice about it. We ran into problems like we accidentally locked the gate over there his crew in and they ended up having to cut the lock off. He was wonderful. He was really very nice. He waited a long time. He was really flexible and he was really patient. He did a great job. He was under some tyrants or chancers, which were not his fault. It was mine. He had every right to be angry and he wasn't.

Job estimated to take three days, actually was done in a little over a day and a half. Crew cleaned up drive and street, washed everything down and made sure I understood the timer system for the irrigation.

The demo and the prep was a lot of work. They worked really hard removing the walkway which had thick concrete, which they removed off my property. The rest of the prep went well, they did however install my new wall several inches off at the beginning , which displaced the end point off by a lot. I expressed my concerns and they immediately took a walk down and reset it in the right location. The rest of prep went very smoothly all the guys are very courteous. Once the prep was done the concrete was poured. Once that had time to cure the sprinklers went in and the grass installed. The plants, gravel and mulch were installed very quickly. All the sprinkler systems were tested for each zone to make sure that all of them working with no leaks. They showed me how to change all the settings on irrigation system, which was very helpful. My project came with a plant warrantee which is really great since I had a couple plants that did not do well. Their suggestion for plants and other parts of my project were spot on. They keep my property clean and respected my space while they were working. A year later my small grass area is beautiful and lush. The plants are growing and are very beautiful. It is a joy to sit outside and enjoy my backyard and I get a lot of compliments of how beautiful it is.

It went great they were on time and did a very good job and it looks great, it took a lot of fill to get the base right to pour a new porch and the total square footage was just over nine hundred feet and when one of the owners is moving concrete you get a feeling that they want it right and the customer to be happy. It looks fantastic!!!!

Went well. Dmitri took my sketch and scope of work, drew up a nice sketch with plant placement and type, and worked with fake grass contractor to get the appropriate type of fake grass (really hot in summer, wanted something cooler than typical types of fake grass). We looked at the proposed plants and they fit our needs. Came a week late due to other jobs, but no real inconvenience. Took only 2-3 days, everything worked including drip watering system. Overall very satisfied with the job done.

The work was very professionally done! The back yard looks as new, with a lot more light. The front yard again looks as new. The work was done in 2.5 days - the first 1.5 days consisted in removing all the old existing materials and vegetation. The last day was the leveling of the two areas, installation of new barrier material, and relaying of tiles and placing of new gravel. Very efficiently done!
