Terry Ostrom Carpentry

I have used Terry before. If you want a very good handyman, he is the one to call. His helper Chris is also a good painter. He does excellent work and usually goes beyond with fixing little extras.

The work Terry provided was topnotch. He appeared on time both mornings; he said it would take 2 days & it did. I have desert tortoises and it was his idea to start the project next to the tortoise paddocks so they could be replaced to their own enclosures by day' s end. The tortoises were obviously stressed from being enclosed in another yard, so I was relieved when I could put them both back in their respective habitats. There was no damage to my or my neighbor's gardens either! Not much room to negotiate. This is a professional operation. Terry always texted or called me back when I called or texted him. I had several other estimates done by other excellent Angie's List companies, and Terry saved me a LOT of money. He gave me a reasonable estimate and said he would look at his schedule to set me up for a date to do the work. I insisted that I pay him something for his time to make the door close properly. He said I could give him $10 for lunch. I did so happily. Then despite several voice mail messages I left him, I never heard from him again.

Everything went as excepted. He was prompt and did what he said he would do. Very professional and prompt!

Terry removed all base molding and door casings, primed, painted and cut the molding and casings, filled all nail holes, caulked, and did touchup painting after the installation. He had to make transition pieces in several places where the hardwood floors joined tile, and these transitions were cut and installed perfectly. He made sure everything was cleaned each day after he completed the work. He is a perfectionist and took his time to make sure that the work was done well. This is the second time we have hired Terry, and we will not hesitate to use him again for molding installation or other work.

Terry and his helper, Chris, worked on the apartment for four days and did a fantastic job. We are very pleased with how well everything turned out. The back door and screen door look and work great and turned out just the way we wanted it. I believe Chris did most of the painting and plaster repair and did a great job as well. The end result is that the apartment looks great. We appreciate Terry and Chris?s good work. I would certainly employ them again and would recommend them to anyone who needs basic repair work, painting or any carpentry jobs. Great work Terry and Chris!

Simply amazing! Our home needed a lot of TLC. We have three children, ages 5, 13, and 16 and we have owned our home for about 10 years. It has not been painted or had any major updates since we purchased it brand new ten years ago. It was overdue...kid damage, dog damage, and general wear and tear took it's toll on our home and make our home not feel very homey. We are unbelievably pleased with the outcome. The service, quality of work, and professionalism were excellent! Chris even went the extra mile to point out things that he could take care of along the way. Simply amazing...it's like being in a new home. We were very pleased with the outcome and would recommend without reservation!

Terry built a fence in my backyard above my retaining wall. He did a great job, was punctual and professional.

Our flooring contractor could not install the tall baseboard molding we had purchased to go with our wood flooring. The material had been pre-painted by us. We contacted Terry as one of the highest rated carpenter / handymen on Angie's list. I explained the job and the length and that the molding was pre-painted but would need calking and finishing. He quoted the price and was able to schedule the job the next week. He arrived on time set to work cutting and installing. All straight joins were cut at 22.5 deg to insure a tight seam, inside corners coped and outside corners mitered at 45 deg. In several spots, the base of the molding was carefully trimmed to match some uneven spots in our tile entryways giving a nice look without gaps. In other spots, Terry carefully trimmed to match odd corners and go around built in cabinetry. After installed, all nail holes and joints were filled and later painted (all very neatly and looking very good). Terry's skill and professionalism are excellent and I would not hesitate to call him again or enthusiastically recommend him to others.

Terry went waaaay above and beyond to re-fashion an old church pew into a bench, which required cutting it down to size, finding an obscure size and type of wood to construct a new armrest/end, cutting everything to exact specifications, putting it all together, matching the grain and stain in a way that I never would have thought possible. I have been trying to find someone for years to do this job and am so happy to have met Terry! He also fixed my closets, repaired some tile and did it all quickly and extremely professionally. Everything was left in order and clean once the jobs were complete. I would absolutely recommend Terry for any and all work: He is extremely reliable, stayed in touch with me throughout the process, arrived exactly on time and performed amazing work.

He did very well. He was neat, on time, polite and professional. The result was great! I have no complaints, in fact I highly suggest him.

After two small projects, I didn't hear back from him about a larger project we had discussed.

Terry was a pleasure to work with. He was responsive in coming over and checking out the door to be replaced and giving me a quote. He was also easy to work with in scheduling a time to get the work done. He showed up at the time he said he would and performed the work. He was willing to tell me everything he was doing and did a very nice job. I'd absolutely work with Terry again.

Great. Terry is a treasure. He is our handyman for our rental in Albuquerque. We trust him from here in Mobile to take of our property out there with out reservation.

All work was done as quoted and on time. Workmanship was excellent. Terry recommended I replace tile so any future changes in flooring would be accomodated. He also recommended that I check with Pat's Doors to purchase the doors and hardware. That turned out to be an very good recommendation as they provided good quality doors at a competive price. I also used Terry on a small cabinet repair job and am very happy with that work too..

Terry responded when I called him for an estimate. He was five minutes early when he came the first time. He is quiet and very professional with his suggestions. He takes plenty of time to list options. I will definitely use him whenever I need the types of services he provides. Deanna Petty

Terry arrived on time for the appointment. He looked at the jobs I needed to be completed and discussed what he could do to remedy each problem. He told me he'd figure out the quote and email it to me for approval and then we'd set a time for him to complete the work. Terry was true to his word. I received the quote and the next week Terry arrived to do the work. He was on time for this appointment, too. Terry did a beautiful job fixing the front doors. They had been letting in huge drafts and didn't quite fit in the frame, but now fit perfectly and are weather tight. The exterior gates were also beautifully repaired, fit well, close and stay closed! He was quick and meticulous with his work, cleaned everything up and charged just what he had quoted. Terry is highly skilled and professional. He is friendly and easy to communicate with. I recommend him without reservation to anyone needing a professional carpenter.

Terry is delightful! He is punctual, neat and clean and communicates well. Because he is of quality, he is quite busy. I recommend you taking the time to contact him and continue to follow up. He is worth the effort.

The cost was very reasonable. I would use him again. I was really impressed with his work. One thing that I’m impressed was he brought in a young man with him and he was training him. The kid was very polite. He had taught him to be polite. He was working with a young person to get him some training and experience.

Terry was very professional. He came on time even a few minutes early. He worked quick and the workmanship of the project was excellent. He built us shelving in the walk-in pantry closet. He made it very sturdy. Now the closet is very organized. I will be using him again in the future.
