Description of Work: Came within hours of contact (in person), checked out electric heater, took time to explain things. Very pleased. |We do not recommend contacting by email through Angie's List. That inquiry was answered a week after they had come to the house.

Description of Work: General service of my heating/cooling system. Prior to this service, however, they saved me a ton of money by honestly pointing out that another service provider had (intentionally or not) installed an incorrect part and was then trying to sell me an entire new heating/cooling system to fix the problem. Starrett's simply replaced the incorrect part, and my current system continues to work just fine. | |Honest people are always the best to work with, and they are becoming harder to find in today's marketplace. The folks at Starrett's are honest and straight-up in everyway.

The entire project was a major undertaking. My home needed a new roof. I contracted a roofer to come out and tear off the old gravel roof. Starrett's came out and removed my old heat pumps. While the roofer had the deck exposed, I had them remove a number of the deck panels so an insulation company could blow in more insulation. When the roofer finished the deck work, Starrett's came back out to install new roof jacks and ductwork. Then the roofer installed the new roof. The next day Starrett's installed my new heat pumps. Two days later, I painted the entire new roof with elastomeric paint. The next day, I had solar electric panels installed on the roof. (This process took several days.) The entire process took just under 2 weeks and Starrett's performance was exemplary given the fact that they had to come to my home 3 times during this whole process. Their price, performance and professionalism is commendable. Due to the size of this project, each of the contractors involved had to coordinate with the others in the process to keep things moving along. Starrett's did a great job! Not only would I use them again, as a Realtor, I recommend them to my customers.
Description of Work: They removed my old heat pumps and replaced them with new units. Because I was having other work done to my home, they had to come out 3 times to complete the task because it had to be done in stages...

I told the whole story in the section immediately above.
Description of Work: I requested an estimate for installation only of three used MasterCool units and ducting into a 60' x 60' room (aircraft hangar). The representative arrived at exactly the time of the appointment, and was very thorough to take appropriate measurements, made sure he understood my needs, and even suggested some simplifying and cost-saving alternatives. I received their cost estimate three days after the original inspection tour. The estimate was more than double what I was prepared to spend, so I did not have them do the job and just put off the project until another time.

Amazingly, Starretts pulled a permit with the city and implemented the pressure test on the day I requested it! (I don't expect that kind of service all of the time) The following week, the pressure test was passed by the city. Once the city unlocked the gas meter, Starrett's came back out to light all of the pilot lights, test the heating and cooling and look for possible gas leaks. While the whole process took several days, I was VERY surprised that I got same-day service just before a holiday. (The stars were in alignment.) I've used them in the past and plan to continue using them in the future. Their price is fair and their service is top-notch!
Description of Work: I am a Realtor, representing a foreclosed home that is under contract. Because the gas meter had been off for over a year, the city would not unlock it until a pressure-test was done. This issue impeded a complete home inspection, which is neccessary to facilitate the sale.

Called for service about 1 pm, refriderated air unit would run, but not cool. Office said they wouldn't be able to have some one at my house until 3:30 or $:00. (Wow I was expecting next day at best!). I was even more pleased when repairman arrived at 2:30! Very professional and courteous. Within 10 minutes advised that exhausted motor was out and that he had tried to call supplier to check availablity for part, also check for any warranty on unit. Said phone line was busy and since supplier was close he'd just run over and check. He was back in 15-20 minutes, back on roof and repair completed all within 2 1/2 hours from the time of my call. Excellent, promopt service, fairly priced. Will definitely recommend this service!
Description of Work: a/c was not cooling. Repairman check thermostat, and filter then went on roof to unit. replaced exhaust motor, fixed wiring short, and did annual service for unit.

Our furnace stopped working so we called climate masters. They were able to come out the same day. The tech was punctual and curteous. He found the problem was a really dirty filter and also that the motor had come loose from the furnace which tripped a fail safe. He replaced the filter and repair the motor mounts in about an hour. We will definitely use climate masters again.

The house owner requested a quote to install an owner-supplied high efficiency air conditioning system in a new 4000 sq. ft house. The installation included the outdoor unit, the air handler and all duct work to be installed in conditioned spaces. The house owner provided the general duct design and sizing information to the contractor. Climate Masters provided an acceptable written quote. It should be noted that the equipment provided was not the brand normally supplied by Climate Masters. They carefully reviewed all installation information for the equipment that was provided before starting. The crews showed up as scheduled with only a short delay due to deer season. The crews were flexible and accepted guidance from the owner about duct location and configuration. All ducting was properly sealed and supported. Secondary drain overflow alarm was installed to meet local codes. The system was tested and works as designed. Very quiet with no duct rattles. All trash was cleaned up.
Description of Work: Install a 2 ton central air conditioning system in a new, very well insulated, 4000 sq ft house. Install outdoor unit, air handler, and all duct work in conditioned space. Add freon, test, adjust and verify proper operation. House owner supplied duct sizing and layout and all equipment except ducting.

When I called to make an appointment for the repair of the A/C unit I was treated courteously and given an appointment for the very next morning. The repairmen arrived on time and ready to work. They spent quite awhile tracing the wiring and functioning of the unit. It was terribly HOT both on the roof and on that end of our home. I was very aware that the repairmen knew what they were doing. When we were up on the roof I asked if the A/C unit was supposed to wobble and was told no. After discovering what the problems were they proposed that the unit needed to be securely fastened to the roof for it to function properly. It was very apparent the insulation was close to being sucked up into the fan blades of the unit before it stopped working altogether. The insulation was successfully fastened to the ductwork. The replacement parts were picked up by Climate Masters the next day and installed ASAP. The unit was fastened to the roof eliminating the wobble. At all times I was treated with courtesy and respect. Any and all of my questions were answered throughout the process. The repairmen and the office staff were the best, I would suggest that if you have a problem with your A/C call them!
Description of Work: After waiting for promised service with Pro Plumbing and Engineering for over a week (several no shows for appointments) in 100 degree temperatures I called the trust that takes care of bills concerning our home. I was given the number and contact for Climate Masters. One of two roof A/C units had completely shut down with no circulation whatsoever. After Climate Masters came to survey the problem they discovered the original installation by the above company was not in compliance and the unit was wobbly on the roof. The insulation in the duct was loose and about to clog up the mechanism of the A/C unit. The electronics of the unit had burnt out and had to be replaced. The good news was that it was under warranty from Rhem. The burnt out parts were removed and taken to the Rhem distributors to be replaced. The unit was properly fastened to the roof to stop the vibration which might have been the original cause of the unit malfunction and burn out. The insulation was fastened to the walls of the ductwork that lead from the hallway to the base of the unit on the roof. After the replacement parts were installed the unit has never had another problem since last summer!

I called on a Tuesday to report AC was not cooling properly. A technician was dispatched the following day. Nick was prompt, pleasant, and professional. He took care of the problem, then showed me his temperature gauge noting our AC was now cooling to 47 degrees.. Two things I did NOT like: I wasn't given a bill at the time of service. Rather the tech reported to the home office, and then the price was established and a bill mailed to you. Had to call twice to get the amount as I had no idea what it would be, and this made me a little anxious in terms of budgeting for the repair. Would prefer to know ahead of time, at least an approximation of what the charges are going to be. Secondly, I was charged $30 + for mileage, even though I live in the same county. This is not the only company that has done this to me, but I don't feel it is fair. Overall, I was pleased with this company, other then the two above mentioned practices. Would definitely use them again if needed. We are heading into triple digit temperatures, so I really appreciated there promptness of service, and felt the price was reasonable except for the $30 travel charge.
Description of Work: Refrigerated AC was not cooling well. A technician was sent to check the unit. He checked for leaks inside the house and outside where the unit sits. Replaced 2 lbs of refrigeration, replaced a missing cap, and tightend fittings where he felt coolant might be leaking from.

When Climatemasters came out to do their service call, they replaced my thermostat and recharged the system with coolant. It turned out the "funny noise" I was hearing was just a nylon disk "rain deflector" on the fan shaft. They could have told me I needed a new fan motor and I wouldn't have questioned it. The noise went away when they lubricated it. I trust their integrity.
Description of Work: My heat pump was making a wierd noise every time the unit turned on or off. It sounded like dry bearings, and I suspected the motor was going out, but the system was still cooling the house. A couple of months after noticing the funny noise, my thermostat failed and I had no cooling at all.

It took him about 15 minutes to figure out what the problem was, he got it fixed and he was on his way. They were the second company I called to try and get someone to fix the furnace. I'm a realtor and it was a listing, we were experiencing abnormal cold. They had just put in a brand new system so there shouldn't have been any reason why it wasn't working. The company that put it in wired the thermostat wrong. They did a good job. They responded quickly to my request, they were professional, knowledgeable and got the work done quickly. They are reasonable, not any more than anyone else.

Throughout the process I was treated with respect. Whatever they said they would do, they did whether it was to show up on time, or fix an existing problem created by Pro Plumbing. My phone call was answered promptly, no leaving a message. I was given an approximate appointment time for a serviceman who arrived that afternoon. He knew what he was doing, answered all of my questions. He made it his business to go to the store that sold parts for my unit and I believe went above and beyond to find out if these parts were under warranty. He also picked up the parts (several days later) that were on a rush basis and installed the replacement parts late in the day. When I inquired why the unit wobbled he told me it was not sealed to the roof resulting in the forcing of hot air into my home. He admitted that he was not familiar with the installation process of A/C units but the company installers knew how to fix this problem. I called the next week to have the installers fix this problem and help my A/C function properly and efficiently cutting down on operating costs. They came in the morning to determine how to fix this, which may include using a crane to lift the unit. They returned in the afternoon with a solution. The A/C duct had been insulated using some pins to affix the insulation to the sides of the duct (Pro Plumbing). I was informed that the insulation was loose and never should have been attached using pins but needed to be glued to the duct walls. They stabilized the A/C unit and glued the insulation to the duct. My A/C unit no longer makes horrible noise when it turns on the my electric bills have been reduced! I would not to hesitate to use Climate Masters again. They were courteous, honest and reliable. My bills for the home are handled by a trust company, the trust company reports to me quarterly. I believe if the price was out of line I would be notified.
Description of Work: One of my A/C units was not functioning. After waiting for over a week with 100 degree temps (Pro Plumbing) and many promises to show up I called Climate Master. My phone call was answered by a real person who was very polite and professional. I called early in the morning and I was given an approximate time for the afternoon. The serviceman arrived several moments after the appointed time. It was found that the motor and fan for this unit was burned out. The serviceman took the defective parts to the store that serviced this unit. The parts needed to be ordered and were delivered in several days. Good news, the parts were under warranty (~$700) and I was charged was for labor only. While I was up on the roof to see what the problem was I also asked why the unit was unstable. Bad news, Pro Plumbing did not seal the unit to the roof which led to the forcing of hot air into my home. This problem needed to be addressed by the installers from Climate Masters.

We called Climate Masters to come out and look at our heating and air conditioning units. It was time for them to be serviced, and we were hearing a metal on metal like noise on one of the units. The technician arrived promptly and got right to work. Although the source of the noise was never discovered, the units were serviced and no noise could be detected. The technician was very professional and made sure we were satisfied with his work before he left. We were very pleased with Climate Masters.

Couldn't have been better! The clogged pipe from the a/c condensate pan had allowed water to overflow onto furnace parts, probably responsible for furnace circuit control board failure later. The circuit board had to be special ordered. Order placed on Friday (day after Thanksgiving) and came in (to El Paso, TX) late Monday afternoon. Service man, Nick, made trip to El Paso (about 50 miles) and returned with circuit board about 4:15 pm. Called and made trip to home with part and installed and checked out around 4:30-5:00 o'clock. Everything satisfactory.
