John answered his phone, made an appointment with me, showed up on time, made the repairs then followed up with a call to let me know how things went! He sent an invoice as promised- choice of paper or email.

John is punctual, does a very good job and it doesn't take all that long for him to finish.

After making sure the fountain pump was functioning and the fountain ready to run, John discovered that there was something wrong with the electrical connection. He suggested that we get an electrician out to repair that problem and that he would come back afterwards to make sure the fountain was working. He did not want to get paid until he had completed the job. Our electrician found a faulty switch and replaced it. The fountain began to run normally, so there was no need to have John come back out, so we sent him a check for the work he had done. We are very pleased with John's work and especially his clear commitment to completing a job once started. He gets a strong recommendation from us. We'll definitely call him again to do continued maintenance on the fountain.

It went very well. He listened to us and did exactly what we asked for. He was very meticulous.

We had an inexpensive drip system installed by another contractor last fall. When I hooked it up again this spring, it didn't appear to be functioning correctly so I did some research and found John Barks' company both here on Angie's list and via Google. Since I didn't really know what was wrong, John agreed to come out and check things out within a few days. After calling to confirm our appointment, John arrived promptly at the scheduled time and listened to my description of the problem as well as my concern about throwing good money after bad if the system had been poorly designed and/or installed, he said he would check things out and let me know what he found. Within about 20 minutes John told me that although the system wasn't really top quality (which I knew) it WAS functioning. I hadn't diagnosed the problem correctly--which is another story and not really relevant. John then spent about 20 minutes discussing how I could improve the existing system to provide better irrigation to the large tree in our front yard and various other things. We will be upgrading our system at some point and I won't be looking for anyone else to do that work. After all this, he only accepted payment after I insisted for at least reimbursing him for gas on the trip out. John is a PROFESSIONAL and couldn't be easier to deal with. He has a very valuable commodity which is in short supply these days: COMPETENCE. If you have need of his services, don't think twice about having John do your job!! You'll be glad you did.

John showed up as he said he would. Talked for 5 minutes, got to work and no complaints.

John Barks gave us an estimate for the job. We paid a deposit as he started the job and the remainder when he finished. He was on time, worked hard without any other helper and was super easy to work with. He brought all the equipment he needed. During installation, he asked questions so the sprinkler system would be what we wanted and it is! He came back to tweak the sprinkler pattern and came back once more to bring parts for the Hunter system. While repairing the leak, John found a baby turtle who had fallen into the sprinkler key pipe. We named him 'John' and he's quite a character - taking a tomato away from a bigger turtle! Two years later, our lawn has never looked so good. After forty years of spring and fall reseeding, no reseeding was needed fall of 2013 nor the spring of 2014. We are more than satisfied with John's work.

It was a very pleasant experience. I called out, he came out and gave an estimate. He set a time for the job and completed the work. Mo mess. No bother.

John was right on time and repaired my rear sprinkler valve in no time. He only charged me a half hour rate. I will definitely call them again as needed.

John is easy to work with. He understood what I needed and gave me good advice on which sprinkler system controller box was best for my needs. He told me on the phone what the job would cost, which turned out to be correct. He brought the new controller box with him when he came to do the job. He was able to do the job three days after I called him, it went smoothly, and it didn't take long. When he finished installing the box, he explained to me how the box worked and then he tested it to verify that it worked. Upon leaving, he cleaning up and took the old box away. I'd definitely recommend him.

John did the work without requiring me to be at the house. The work was done in a very reasonable amount of billable hours and also real clock time. The clean up of the excavation ?I had a hard time believing the work had been completed. This work was at least $50 less than the company which had done similar work in my yard. Last summer John replaced my sprinkler controller. He had a more user friendly unit which is more than $100 cheaper than any other sprinkler service .

In the course of inspecting my drip system, Mr Barks discovered a blockage in one of the pipes in the drip system. He immediately worked the issue and at every stage of the repair kept me abreast of what he was doing. He replaced all dirt and gravel back in its original state. He worked without hesitation and checked all remaining line and each emitter in the drip system. He also provided tips I will use on watering efficiently. I will definitely use this company for future work. This is the kind of company a homeowner wants in their index of reputable service providers.

John is a great contractor and can do multiple tasks related to landscaping as well as drip systems.I was new to New Mexico and he explained drip systems and gave me information about the climate and tree care. He also was a tremendous help because he explained about shoots that were emerging near my house. It was a large cottonwood tree root from the neighbor's yard that grew under my house. He had tools on his truck and sawed a section of the root, removed it, and dug to the foundation. Then he repaired and tested the drip system. He is really prepared for problems. He even used graphite on a lock that would not work. He is also very knowledgeable about trees and shrubs.

I felt very comfortable from the start with this provider I was out of town when he came to do the work. When I got back home everything was working like new and is still to this day. I will be using this provider in the future.

John was great, on time very professional. He's a busy guy but the service was worth the wait.

It was done in 5 minutes, no problems, but was expensive for 5 minutes work.

We did not know who to call so I joined Angies list that day. I called John Barks and he was at my house by 1:30pm. He assessed the problem and capped my old system. He was very pleasant and courteous. Also was very knowledgable. He has given us an estimate for a replacement system that we will have installed in the spring. I would definitely recommend him to my friends and neighbors.

John was very polite and professional. Even in the rain, he worked and finished the job as promised .
