We hired TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® to move us out of a four bedroom house. The estimator told us over the phone it would be about a 4-hour job. The actual move took more than twice that amount of time and both houses had damage to the paint and walls especially along the stairs. Instead of addressing the damage the next day as the movers promised, we never heard from these people. We are definitely disappointed in the extra time that they took to complete the move - even so, all four guys received a generous tip for completing the job completed on a hot day. However, the damage is unacceptable and will cost us money for repairs. This has never happened to us during a move in Albuquerque and we cannot recommend this company to others because of the lack of follow-up and damage costs. Honestly, we trusted TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® and they really let us down. UPDATE: It is now 8/30/2013 - we moved one month ago. Still no reply from TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® in Albuquerque about repairing the damage to our walls.
Description of Work: Moved our personal belongings, household goods and furniture from one house to another. Someone from their corporate office called us after we complained about the damage. After that, we have not heard from anyone about repairing the damage to our walls in both houses!

Response from Two Men & A Truck
The original estimate was given over the phone. The estimator was told the home had 4 bedrooms- and was given an approximate amount of furniture as a result we scheduled the move with 4 movers and 2 trucks. The estimated time for the move was 6 - 7 hours for a total estimate cost of $1,339.80 before tax and $1,433.58 after tax. The move did take 8.5 hours- a little longer than estimated, but given the fact that we did not perform an onsite estimate and the movers had a long walk and a challenging narrow stairway at the drop off address we feel the move was performed efficiently. It is hard to anticipate everything but we were within 2 hours of the actual estimate, which is acceptable for an over the phone estimate. We did receive the damage report and sent it to our damage adjuster within 48 hours of the move. Our Damage Repair vendor is a professional repair company. Since the repair vendor is a separate company and does not work for Two Men and a Truck we cannot control how long it takes for them to complete a repair, but they usually have all damage reports addressed and repaired within 3 weeks from the date the damage is reported. We have stayed in touch per email with (Member name removed) to inform her the damage report was received and forwarded to our damage repair company. I spoke to (Member name removed) on 08/14/13 she told us that Western Repairs had not yet called to schedule the damage review and repair. We called the repair company to request this customer be contacted right away. I was told by Western Repairs that they did call and left multiple messages, but never got a call back. Western Repairs is going to call again today. I confirmed that they had the correct number and gave a second contact number for (Member name removed). The only contact number we had was for (Member name removed). Any damages that occur during a move are the responsibility of our company to repair , we take the commitment to our customers very seriously. We are fully committed to repairing the scratched stairwell and TV cabinet. We are aware that it has been 15 days since they moved and are staying up to date with the repair company to ensure the damages are addressed and repaired- at no time did we ever tell the customer that they were responsible for the cost of any repairs. We are fully responsible for the costs of repairs to anything damaged during the moving process.

They were superb. They were good in every way; they were efficient, took care of our belongings, and they were easy to talk to. Moving does not always work that well; we have done it before. They were not unreasonable and the service was so good that the price was just fine.

I was slightly disappointed that boxes clearly marked Fragile - do not stack anything heavy on top were on the bottom of stacks of 60# plus boxes of books. Not sure if anything was broken yet as a result of the carelessness. Hope not. They were fast and energetic, however

Estimate was provided verbally on the phone based on square footage of my home. Carol suggested a more precise estimate could be obtained by sending someone to my home to look at what I had to be moved. Did that, and the estimate was for $1,300, one 26 ft truck, 3 guys, one trip from Ventana Ranch to Loma Colorado - a 20 minute distance. I also added 11 wardrobe box rentals. They came NOWHERE near the estimate, and only brought 3 wardrobe boxes. They didn't come even close to getting my household in one truck. The mover asked toward end of day if they could send another truck and two more guys "to save time", instead of unloading at new residence and taking the 1st truck back over to get what remained. I ended up with a $2,048 bill. I have repeatedly called the office. After one week, and also calling the main company to complain, I finally got a call back from the local manager on Friday, June 7th. In the end, I explained my stance that I can understand an estimate being off - but by $700?? That raises a big red flag that these folks are out to get your business by bidding too low. Then bam, your screwed. The manager said he would talk with his superior to find a resolution and promised a call back by close of business on June 7th. NO PHONE CALL YET. I believe the proper thing to do here is at least split the $700 overage and reimburse me $350. This is bad customer relations guys. . . . People get online everyday to read reviews before they do business. So tell me Two Men, was all this BS worth the business you will now lose? There are other movers out there, don't use Two Men. And no return phone call? Pretty chicken s**t.

Contacted them on Sunday via email, and got a prompt response informing us they were closed, but to expedite an estimate on Monday, we were provided with a list to fill out itemizing items to be moved. We went room by room and listed everything. First thing Monday we were contacted and informed of weekday prices and week end prices. They figured approx 6 hrs, or about 800.00,which I thought a bit high for the small amount needing to be moved, but I figured better to figure high than low... After my girlfriend and I discussed it, she called to set up a time for the move, and spoke with someone different who informed her the cost would be closer to 1200.00! It appears they need to figure in about 400.00 to travel to Los Lunas. Needless to say, we won't be using them, nor will I give them a second thought.

We appreciate the feedback regarding the issue on this moving quote. From our office’s point of view we try to provide as accurate an estimate as possible based on the information provided by our customers. The 1st estimate was calculated on the initial information provided by the customer via email. Once we had the opportunity to speak directly to the customer and found out what the customers current address and final drop off location were, we recalculated the estimate and added the additional time needed for travel and the required state mandated fuel surcharge. We provided the customer with the adjusted estimate and they decided not to use our services. We always try to provide our customers the most accurate estimate based on the information provided. There are some situations where the estimate has to be adjusted prior to the move based on additional information provided by the customer. We try to be upfront and straightforward to allow the customer to make the best decision based on their needs and budget. It is unfortunate that this customer was disappointed in the revised estimate; we were simply trying to be as honest as possible. If there is any way we could help this customer further we will be happy to discuss it.

They responded promptly to calls, provided excellent packing service, and provided lots of other information such as how to ship a car, what is a good place for storage, etc. They brought packing materials but were also willing to use what we already had. They packed quickly and efficiently and nothing broke. They also helped us get many heavy boxes to the post office. The provided lots of different options for shipping (including recommending other carriers) for what turned out to be a small amount, not large enough for a moving van. They explained their services and charges very clearly and did whatever they promised. Great service.
Description of Work: They packed much of the contents of the house, excluding furniture. At the last minute our plans changed so we didn't need as much packing as we originally thought we would, but they were very flexible and accommodating.

Jake and Fredrick arrived within the first hour of the time frame. They wrapped the desk, hutch, filing cabinets and coffee table with protective sheets that I provided and then wrapped everything with shrink wrap to protect them from the dust. They worked very quickly. We were loaded within 20 minutes. They followed me a short distance to our storage unit and off loaded the furniture quickly. Everything arrived safely. We were within the hour minimum. They were friendly and cheerful as they worked. I did give them a $20 dollar tip on top of the the $168. I will use them again when I need to bring the things back after we sell our house. They made a job that would have been a huge pain for my husband and me very simple, quick and stress free.

Overall, it was a great experience and I would call them again. :)
Description of Work: We had them move 2 large pieces of furniture from one bedroom to another. A large dresser with mirror and a large armoir. This was no easy task but they performed it with care and and in a timely manner. I was impressed with their skill and friendliness. They even took the time to hold the furniture up for me to put felt sliders on the bottom so as not to scratch new flooring.

I called the company and left a message for them to get in touch with us about our local move within ABQ. I received a call back later that day with an apology for not being in the office. The company sent someone to give us an estimate which was extremely reasonable for a local move. The estimate was for approximately $800 for moving a three bedroom, den with two living areas house. The move included more boxes than furniture and we had done all our own packing [with the exception of furniture]. On the day of the move, three gentlemen arrived on time and were very courteous. The loading and unloading of the truck came two hours under the estimate and were charged two hundred less as well. The company did a great job with the move. Not one thing being moved was broken or misplaced. Nothing in the new and old homes were scratched up or walls broken. The owner of the house from which we moved asked about our moving company and I recommended Two Men & a Truck. She used the company as well and had the same positive experience that we did. I have since continued to rave about our moving experience.
Description of Work: I called the company to set up a possible date for our local residential move within ABQ. I left a message on their answering machine. I received a call back later that day. Our move needed to be scheduled within three weeks. Two gentlemen came to our old home the following week and we were given a very reasonable estimate. Our move was scheduled for a week and a half later. The day of the move [we had done all the packing], three men arrived packed the truck, drove to our new home and unloaded the truck.

This was the third Two Men and a Truck franchise we have contracted over the past seven years. After getting three competitive bids from local moving companies, one of which was for about the same amount, I convinced my husband to go with this Two Men and A Truck franchise since we had had good luck with the other two franchises in Arizona. They had estimated $3,100.00; after everything was unloaded at the new rental home, crew lead gave us a final bill of $4,100.00. I questioned the $1,000.00 overage and pulled out the estimate for him to compare. He called the owner who told him that he would sue us if we didn't pay full amount. After he hung up, the lead told us he would have to call the local sheriff and wait for them to arrive to settle this. In disbelief, I then asked the crew lead to call the general manager whom I had worked with. The crew lead then called the general manager and was told by him to collect the full amount and he would look at the breakdown the next day and get back to me if an adjustment was warranted. I then called the general manager back. After Alan, the general manager, explained several possible areas for overages and insisted that if we were happy with the service it was worth the final cost, I again questioned how they could be that far off in estimating. I also told him about the threats we received of being sued and having the sheriff called. Alan apologized for what we had been told via the owner and crew lead and then adjusted the invoice down a couple of man hours to $3,800.00 explaining that at that point sales tax and extra moving materials used made up the bulk of the remaining overage. During the course of the move, two floor tiles were broken by the crew. Because of this repair needing to be made the next morning, they decided to not load everything during that first day as they had originally told us they would do. Other than a grill, an outdoor heater, some artwork and artificial plants, everything including our beds had been loaded. My husband and I (and our dog) ended up driving 80 miles to the new rental home to spend the night on an airbed and bedding we had left there just in case. Giving them house keys and a garage door opener, I was told to leave and trust the crew to load the final items and repair the tiles with materials left in the garage by the home's owners. On Friday, we waited for them to arrive at the new home. At noon, I called the company office to get an update on the crew's progress. I was given the crew lead's cell phone number. When I called him, he said they were leaving shortly to get lunch and then would be on their way. At 2:30 in the afternoon they finally arrived to unload and set-up the new home. Needless to say they did not finish until late into the night. After the dispute over the total (we ended up paying the $3800.00 on our VISA), the crew still had to go back to the old home and finish the tile repair. Overall the crew was good and worked hard. We had a couple of items that were broken but after the hassle with the invoice, we decided to just repair them on our own. Thankfully the crew lead was handy and could take care of the tile repair which was approved by the property management company. However, the crew ended up forgetting to load a large floor plant. My husband and I had to do a 160 mile turnaround trip to get the plant at the old rental house as we had to be out of that house by the next day. After being told about all of the incidents we experienced with the crew and owner, the general manager was understanding and did what he could to help turn the whole situation around for us. He also called me to explain the final invoice breakdown after he had a chance to review it. Although he was helpful, in the end it took another week to get a final invoice emailed that showed the adjusted breakdown and paid in full amount.

Response from Two Men & A Truck
The Estimate we gave the (deleted member name) Family for Packing & Moving came to a total of $3,746.48 after tax Including the cost of Boxes and Packing Supplies. We had to use extra boxes on the move day because (deleted member name) requested the packers take extra special care of specific items and did not want the items packed with anything else. As such there was an unanticipated extra cost for the additional boxes and packing time. Our Estimates are as close to the actual cost as we can anticipate given that we have not seen the new home and can not estimate unforeseen circumstances at the customers drop off addresses including long walks or stairs. We did have to provide extra packing supplies to accommodate her needs and requested extra care of special items. We do provide all customers with the necessary information including the disclosure that our estimates are not binding and can be off by an hour at the pick up and an hour at the drop off to allow the movers time to disassemble or reassemble any furniture and allow for any challenges during the move. We believe that we reasonably estimated the move and did come to within a reasonable amount compared to her estimate. We are willing to discuss any problems with the customer and will resolve any complaints. Thank you, we do appreciate the feedback.

She was really happy with them. They even helped her move some stuff to storage and they said that they would give her some sort of discount when she is ready to move it out of storage. She didn't take advantage of it because she had some friends help her. The cost was $400 to move her stuff and she had stairs. We paid it and the price seemed pretty good for the quote they gave me. They ran a little late but they called. They seem like a pretty tight group. We hope to use them if we sell this place.

I can't understand why my experience was never reported! I have listed all the information regarding my experience with this company and yet they have an A rating. What they did to me is unconscionable. They were suppposed to be at my house at 1:00 PM. They said they would be here at 1:30 and when I called at 3 PM, they said they could not get in touch with the crew. Finally the crew called at 4 PM and said they would be here in 20 minutes. They showed up at 6 PM with all kinds of excuses. It was too late for the move. The owner did not even call me back with an explanation. It ruined my whole move and I had to hire another company. What more do I need to do to get my evaluation of this company on your list?
Description of Work: These people were supposed to be at my house at 1:00 PM to move some things from one house to another. I called before the appointment to make sure they would not be delayed and was told they would be here at 1:30. By 3:00, I called again and was told that they could not get in touch with the crew. Finally, the crew (two young kids) called me at 4:00 and told me they would be there in 20 minutes. They said they had directions. They showed up at 6:00, way too late for the move. I asked them where they had been and they told me they got lost! I asked why they didn't call and they said both their cell phones were dead! I was very upset with them and sent them away. When the office called I told them what happened and asked that an owner call me the following day. Three days later and I still have not heard from anybody. Missing this move has put my plans in chaos.

I liked how they wrapped everything. It didn't get damaged; there were just little nicks and stuff. They had a hard time getting an armoire up the second story but they managed to do that so that was good because they almost gave up and we really wanted it upstairs. They had three people so it only took 5 1/2 hours, which saved a lot of time. They were prompt and got the job done quickly. They were helpful. They did a good job and there wasn't anything that I really didn't like about them. In Albuquerque they all have to charge the same price except there can be little extras so they all have to charge the same rate.
