I have a Maytag Bravos Quiet Series 300 washing machine, which is a big, high-efficiency top loader that works on the principles of those Eurotech front-loaders. A couple of years out of warranty (of course), it began making more and more noise in the spin cycle. A bit of research on the Internet made me pretty certain that it was the big bearing down inside, a commonplace failure on these models... and that it was going to be a $700-plus repair because the bearing and drum had to be replaced as a unit. Aside from an emphasis on ease of manufacturing over maintainability that makes me despair for the human condition, that is quite a lot of money. After a check of Angie's List, I called Miller's Maytag, which revealed that this Maytag-branded washer is really a Whirlpool and incorporates a lot of Fisher and Paykel technology. (If I may digress: Whirlpool has been on a buying spree in the last several years, and is the actual maker of several name brands as well as several house brands. Apparently the old cliche of Maytag as a costly but sensibly designed and massively built machine with a lonesome repairman is not something you can take for granted anymore, except for the "costly" part.) Miller's referred me to Ortega's. The Ortega's technician confirmed the problem and thought at first that it would be as expensive as I feared, but had heard that Whirlpool, tired of shipping entire drums back and forth from Canada under warranty, had recently released a repair kit for just the bearing and related components. We decided that I'd pay for the troubleshooting call while he found out about bearings, and agreed that my decision point would be in the few hundred dollars range -- more than that, I'd put the thing in the garage, buy a new washer of the ordinary kind in the meanwhile, and await further developments. They found and obtained the kit, and came back a few days later to install it, along with the shaft and seal. For a total of $300, I have the washer back, quiet as when it was new. I made the appointment through the Ortega's website, got e-mail confirmation, and there was the repairman in the specified three-hour interval. The in-home service experience was very neat, unobtrusive, and professional. I'm not too happy about the premature failure of an expensive and supposedly premium appliance, but am very pleased with Ortega's Appliance.

They do get out the same that one calls. They are very professional. They are honest. This time they told me how much it would cost to repair it and I elected to buy a new one instead. They have repaired dishwashers for me in the past. There was a wiring short in the dishwasher and they were able to replace it. They charged me somewhere between $75 and $125. Their usual service call charge is $75. The prices are reasonable. My experience with this company has been good. They are professional. They are courteous. They are timely. As their name says it, they really try to come out the same day and that is important for a lot of appliances. My niece recommended them to me.

The technician Rick came out as his last appointment of the day to accomodate my work schedule, this was after 4pm. Upon running the diagnostics it was determined that the sensor in the dryer door that reads the moisture in the load was bad. He could get that sensor and come back out the next day. Again Rick came out the next day at the end of the day accomodating my schedule. The new sensor was installed but the dryer still would not turn on? Rick hooked up the computer diagnostics once again. The error codes from the dryer seemed odd so Rick actually did some trouble shooting involving by passing a circuit to get the dryer to come on. I had actually blown 2 sensors not only the temperature sensor but the one that tells the main computer that the door is closed! Rick called around to see if he could locate the part as it was 20 minutes to 5pm and he was willing to dash across town and pick it up and dash back to my house so that he could get me running that evening! Sadly as it so happened this part rarely goes out and no dealer had the part in stock. So a few days later Rick came back out and installed the part and checked my dryer venting in the house, shortening the line for me. He also checked and worked on the vent connection to the outside of the house! He really went out of his way to make sure that everything was in working order so that my dryer could run effortlessly. He was very professional and helpful. I would not hesitate to use Ortega's again for any appliance concern in the future. As I said we had used them in the past and they were prompt and helpful that time too.
Description of Work: My dryer is the type that has sensors to determine when a load of laundry is dry all the while adjusting the time the load needs to tumble. First my dryer was not turning off appropriately and was over-drying the clothes. I skirted this by using just the timed cycle for several weeks. I ran a load on a Sunday morning and when I put the second load into the dryer it would not turn on! This of course prompted my call for service. Since it was a Sunday no one was at the office of course so we used the website to set up an appointment/call back. We had used Ortega's before when we had trouble with our refridgerator and was happy with their service.

This is the third time we have used Ortega's. The first visit the owner came out to do the call (around Christmas). We have called them on all of our other appliance repairs. It is very convenient to book online, they follow up and show up at the time they say. If they are running late they call to let you know. They also stand behind their work and charge a flat fee. It doesn't matter if it takes them 20 minutes or they have to come out 3-4 times, which happened. They explain everything that is going on with your appliance, show you any parts that have to be replaced and explain what went on with the part. Great job!
Description of Work: Ortega's came out to repair our dryer. Within a month the part broke. They came back out, inspected it and replaced the part again with no charge. They stand behind their repairs including labor, unheard of these days. This is the third time we have used them. After they fixed the dryer our washer broke. They were out the next day to check it and we had to replace it. They tried everything to fix it, without putting any $$ into new parts. They gave the price for the parts for the fix, but recommended we just replace based on the history of the washer. That was refreshing that they would be so honest.

Scheduling was easy, service man was prompt and kept me informed of the process. The repair was made under warranty so there was no charge- even for vaccuming around the condensor of the wine storage unit as well as my refrigerator- which I thought was very generous. He was pleasant throughout and I would use him again.

Yes, it went well. I am not going to restate the experience, but it was good. I should not they did do a follow up call to make sure I was happy with my service. I think that is polite and I did mention my dissatisfaction with the price for labor. They didn't change anything but they listened.
Description of Work: My ice machine was not working. So I called and received a return call that afternoon. The service was scheduled for the following week. The repairman was prompt and polite. My only problem was the price. While the price for the freezer part was appropriate they charge 96 dollars to install the piece which took a total of 20 min. Slightly frustrating.

It pays to get a second opinion and I will not be recommending them
Description of Work: Came out for $90 and let me know that the sub zero would have to be pulled out and put on it's side and would have a minum of 8 hr to fix at at least $1000. No mention of warantee on parts or anything else. I called a differnt company and they did not have to pull it out from the wall and Sub Zero covered the parts and some labor for a total of $300.

Technician came on Sept 9 and identified the problem. The initial charge was $70. I was told that I had 30 days to decide if I wanted my dryer repaired and the $70 would be applied to the completer cost. I called them that evening to tell them that I did want my dryer repaired. The part had to be ordered and they called me as soon as it came in. I scheduled them for Sept 17th. They came on that day and replaced the timer.
