Ortega's was the only place I called who could come out the next day. They sent their serviceman Joe. I was very impressed by his professionalism, courtesy, friendliness and skill. I couldn't be more pleased with the way this all turned out and I definately will be using them for any future major appliance issues I might have.
Description of Work: my front loading washer was unable to pump the water out of the washer. I washed a load of old rugs and the rubber backing fell apart on all of them so the discharge line got clogged. the technician cleared the line and got things working the way they should.

After I checked appliance repairmen on Angie's List, I recommended that my elderly mom call Orgega's to come and look at her washing machine, which seemed to have some kind of a leak after recent cold weather. Ortega's was able to send someone out the same day, and they replaced the hoses and checked for other leaks. The repairman was on time and professional. She thought the price they charged was fair. Mom was pleased with the service, and I will keep them in mind the next time I need something repaired.

We developed a tear in the rubber ring just inside the door of our LG washer. With 2 active boys our washer gets a lot of use. After a few calls Ortegas said they could have someone out the next morning. The Tech showed up on schedule I knew in advance that the part would cost $82. The Work was completed in less than 40 minutes. The total bill was $297. I was told that this was due to a $118 dollar service call and then the labor charge. I had been told that the Service charge would be part of the labor charge when I made the appointment. I was told once the work was done this was not the case. They were easy to book with, showed up on time and completed the work quickly. However given the labor charges and questions with billing I will only be using them if there is not a competent well reviewed alternative.

I made the appointment a week and a half ahead of time for 8 am, to allow for sufficient time to teach my 9:30 class. Was assured of the arrival time. Took great strides to provide the make, model and serial number of my appliance. Informed the dispatcher that my house is in a new subdivision, which is only on GPS which has been updated over the past two years. She took down copious directions to my house. Informed me that the repair would cost from $100 to $200 plus parts. I agreed to the price and time. We were set. On the day scheduled for repair, received a call from the technician, Joe, near 8 am who was some distance away. He had no idea where I lived, lacked directions to my house. Asked him if the dispatcher gave him directions, the make and model of my washer and the appointment time. He was totally in the dark. I feared being bilked a second repair trip and being late for my class. He came half an hour late, fixed the problem and threw a $20 discount at me. He apologized. I presented my coupon from Angie's list, but that was not honored. Big deal. While the repair was adequate, company management is amateurish. Customer communication is a basic skill apparently lacking at Ortega. I would not use this company again.

Booked online the Friday night after Thanksgiving. Asked for the next Wed. and recieved confirmation online within a couple hours. Agent called the Monday before and gave me a time. Joe was here on time and was very professional. He explained everything and made sure I understood. I will use Ortega's again and ask for Joe.
Description of Work: I did not observe the work performed. Problem was not serious. Turns out that it was something I did. Joe explained what I was doing wrong. He was very patient.

I discovered the refrigerator stopped working the previous evening as a beverage can was warm and two thermometers I have inside the refrigerator (one analog and one digital) showed temperatures above 60 degrees. I tried turning up the thermostat to it's maximum setting, and also tried cleaning dust from the rear vent, but neither action improved the lack of cooling. Although it was too late in the evening to call anyone, I researched several possible "A"-rated repair services on Angie's list. Two other companies provided 10% discount coupons, while Ortega Appliance Service offered a $20 discount. I like saving money, so I picked those 3 top-rated services to call. The next morning at about 8AM I began to make phone calls to quickly schedule a repair, as I was concerned about the food spoiling. I correctly guessed that a refrigerator repair would likely exceed $200 in parts and labor, so I tried calling the other contractors that offered the 10% discount first. Both provided only recordings instead of a live receptionist. One recording estimated a 3 or 4 day delay in scheduling, while the other only offered an opportunity to leave a message. I finally called Ortegas. My call was answered by a real person who gave me a same day appointment for an 11-2pm service window. I asked about possible cost and was given a range of possible costs depending on the parts needed to resolve the problem. I was surprised that their labor cost for this refrigerator (about $170) was a fixed amount regardless of the actual time required to accomplish the repair. For work requiring an hour or less I felt this was excessive, but for work exceeding an hour it was very reasonable, as other companies providing prior plumbing services typically charged about $90/hour. The receptionist reassured me that there would be no additional charge if a return visit was needed (for an ordered part, for example) and that both labor and parts would be fully covered under a one year warranty. As I was concerned about the food spoiling, I agreed to their terms and made the appointment, providing the make & model of the refrigerator so that the technician could come prepared with any parts that might be needed. The technician, Rick, called before coming and arrived within the promised service time-window. He politely asked if it was OK to park in the driveway. I thought that was very considerate. He quickly diagnosed the problem as a defective cooling fan. He didn't have the part with him, but promised to return within 45 minutes with the new fan, which cost an outrageous $90. The entire job took about 1 1/2 hours, so I got my money's worth on the labor. I appreciated the fast service which kept my food from spoiling. I was also able to use my credit card for the repair cost and received the benefit of the Angie's list $20 discount. I would highly recommend this company for any immediately-needed repairs, and would consider them along with at least one other top-rated 10%-discount-offering company for any other repairs where scheduling was more flexible and a phone recording was not a problem. I almost always try to get multiple estimates, if possible, as that usually results in substantial savings.

We used Ortega's online utility to request a service visit over the weekend. We received a confirming email on Monday and a telephone reminder the day before the scheduled appointment. The appointment was set for between one and five in the afternoon and I received a call from the serviceman at one telling me he would be at our home at 1:30, and so he was. He quickly found to problem, went and obtained the needed part and fixed the machine. I could not ask for more!

We liked them. There was nothing we didn't like. They responded in a fairly reasonable amount of time. The man was honest and knowledgeable. We don't know if it was a fair price. He did tell us what kind of washing machine to look for, which was very helpful. We would use them again.

Gas dryer was not working. Called early morning and was able to get scheduled the next day. Ortega's technician was able to come after 3:00. He was knowledgable, prompt and professional and was able to fix it the same day. It was a bit more expensive than I thought it would be, but the service was good and I was left feeling positive about the whole experience.

I called for service late on a Monday afternoon and was given an appointment for Wednesday morning. Then Ortega's called early Tuesday morning and said they could look at the refrigerator that morning. Two technicians arrived and I thought they were very capable and professional. I understand the replacement part is warranted by the manufacturer or supplier for 90 days but Ortega's extends this to one year. I was very pleased with the service.

The tech was right on time and got right down to business. It didn't take him long to pinpoint the problem and explain my options including an accurate cost estimate. He located the needed part on his laptop went to get it and returned in about 20 minutes. Another 10 minutes to install the cooling motor and everything was work fine. I don't know about any other companies out there that do this kind of work, but Ortega's is number one on my list.

Great Service. My comment about price was that it cost a little more than I had hoped for.Nevertheless, It was still a bargain. The work is performed according to Factory Specs. and our dryer is good to go for another 8 Years. For $276.00 for parts and Labor. This is a heck of a lot cheaper than buying a new one to the tune of $1200.00.I would do this again in a heartbeat.

The technician from Ortega's did a great job!
Description of Work: In February 2012, Bob's Appliance came out to fix the refrigerator side of my side-by-side and after installing a new board, the refrigerator side was working better but the freezer stopped working correctly. It was going up and down between 20 degrees and zero. The same tech came out but he couldn't figure it out so he just left and I was stuck with a freezer that didn't work. Since I have an upright freezer, I used it instead. When I couldn't stand it any longer, I called Ortega's in July. The technician found that the control board in the refrigerator side had not been fully installed and the cold control wires in the board were switched. (He looked up a similar wiring diagram to get the control wiring correct.) Since he corrected the board that was installed by Bob's Appliance, the freezer is working fantastically.

Technician (Rick) from Ortega's Appliance Service arrived on time, introduced himself and inquired whether we'd like him to put "booties" over his shoes -- a thoughtful gesture. Our Kitchen Aid fridge had begun to freeze everything in the main compartment--vegetables, fruits, orange juice, sauces, etc--though the temperature on the built-in gauge (supposed to be 38 deg.) was reading in the mid-40's. Rick noticed right away that we had so many containers on the top shelf that the vent on the rear wall was completely blocked. After further checks of the condenser, other vents and the water supply, he noted that there could be one or more problems at work, some of which could require hundreds of dollars of replacements or repairs. After considering all the possibilities and explaining in detail what might or might not be happening, he concluded that the best course would be to clear stuff away from the vent at the top shelf and wait--perhaps for 2-3 weeks--to see if the problem would resolve itself, thus indicating the blocked vent as the culprit. We appreciated the knowledge he shared with us, his explanation of the rationale behind advising us to "wait and see," and his assertion that he (and his boss) would do more research on this issue, which seems to be uncommon, but which they have seen before. Since we have had experience with other contractors/tradesmen in NM who were all too willing to immediately recommend complex and expensive repairs, upgrades or replacements, we were particularly appreciative of Rick's candor and his conservative approach. As a side note, this is a very up-to-date company, technically. Every tech has a laptop connected to the office and the web, a credit card processor, a smart phone for taking photos of appliances, model numbers, etc. which are then attached to the report written on-site by the tech, and transmitted to Mr. Ortega. Rick was experienced, knowledgeable, articulate, polite and completely professional. If our refrigerator should require follow-up servicing, he will return at no additional charge (the service charge covers 90 days out in case a return call is needed). And, as is often the case, there was a nice discount thanks to Angie's List.

Description of Work: We had our front loading machine looked at. The machine has some kind of lock that will not let you continue; child proof I assume. In the 8 years it has never happened. Wednesday night at about 8 pm we noticed that everything in our freezer was melted/warm. The fridge was not cooling either. Found Ortega's on the internet. I called and left a message since they were not open. About 10 pm my husband and I decided to buy a new fridge online at home depot -- $1900. Manny from Ortega's called our place at 7 am. He explained what he thought might be wrong and how much that might cost to repair. I told him we already bought a new fridge. He said ok but let me give some tips for preventing break downs on the appliance. After I hung up I thought I should try to cancel the order for the new fridge and see if this company can fix ours for $225. I called Home Depot and they were able to cancel the order. I called Manny back and told him I would like their help. He had someone come out at 2 pm the same day TODAY! Rick was on time. He was very clear about the repair and made sure that what was wrong was really wrong by performing tests. He fixed the fridge in less than hour. The total bill was about 208 and with the Angie's list coupon it came to $189 inclusive of the service call, parts, labor and taxes!!!! Unbelievable service, knowledgeable, honest, dependable at an awesome price! I will be calling them anytime I need help and recommending them to my neighbors too. I haven't had service like this ever in my adult life. Seems like it is always a hustle hassle etc. THANK YOU RICK AND MANNY ORTEGA!!!
