HILLTOP LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTS

The project went extremely smoothly. It was obvious; they knew what they were doing! I always could ask questions and have themanswered. Materials were removed and arrived on schedule to keep the project moving along. It was completed in the time estimated.

On his initial visit, Doug listened carefully to my ideas and concerns. He provided a rough sketch incorporating both my ideas and his expertise as a landscape designer. Within a few days he sent me a large scaled drawing that was realistically colored to show all the features. At that time he gave me a written detailed estimate of the cost. My wife and I made a few changes to the drawing and then visited Doug in his office. Doug explained the work to be done, the types of artificial turf that were available, and the pros and cons of various plantings. We agreed on the changes and approved the final plantings list. Doug scheduled the job for about a month away to allow time for the artificial turf to be delivered from the manufacturer. During the waiting period I realized I would have a drainage problem. Doug graciously changed the landscape plan twice, each time providing me with updated drawings. Note that throughout the project that his cooperation was outstanding. The project started on time. Three workers and a foreman showed up each day at 7:30 AM and the workers stayed on the job until about 4:00 PM. Throughout, the men were courteous, worked extremely hard with few breaks. They were careful with the existing plantings and open to several suggestions I offered. Their experience really showed through as they followed the scale drawing closely. They paid special attention to my drainage problem and contoured the ground appropriately. They installed steel edging for the artificial turf and made sure that it was level in all directions. They applied a base layer and then crusher fines for the turf. Each layer was tamped down. The main project was completed in a little over a week. The exception was that the turf order was delayed by the manufacturer for two weeks. The day after the order arrived, Hilltop installed the turf with excellent results. We were extremely satisfied with the outcome, and impressed with the professional approach by Hilltop. Note that we went out for 5 other estimates before selecting Hilltop. For equivalent approaches to our project, Hilltop turned out to be the least expensive. Also, thanks to Angie's List for helping us locate reliable landscapers.

They are knowledgeable and are arborists so they really know trees. Their prices were highly competitive and they cleaned everything up perfectly. They are very professional and I will use them again in the future.

I got bids from 3 companies, and I selected Hilltop. They did a beautiful job. I have actually used them in the past, and this is my second go around with them over many years. I would use them again in the future.

The company came out to assess the scope of work requested and quickly provided plans and estimate for the job. They worked with the feedback from our HOA to modify the plans to add additional grass in the front yard and resubmitted the plans for our review. They designed a lovely plan for our front and side yard and were very accommodating to issues related to our neighborhood covenant. The landscape architect we worked with drafted and redrafted the plan to meet our needs and the on-site crew chief allowed modifications throughout the week-long project. We scheduled the landscape work to fit our schedules, and their backlog of work, and it started within a week of the projected start time. The was completed in the time-frame provided during the initial discussions and it looks great. Hilltop gives a warranty on their plants for one year and we're glad for that as we're not confident that all of the young plantings will survive the winter given we planned the project for November. We were assured that they would replace any plants that do not survive. Overall I was very satisfied with both the quality and timeliness of the job and would use the company again. We received very personalized service. We highly recommend this company.

Was very professional with initial site visit, however did not get back with written estimate until after I called approximately two weeks later. Completed and delivered a very professional drawing (at no cost to us) with estimate, but forget many items we spoke about during initial site visit and preferred not to incorporate some features we wanted. I have seen their work in the past (with good reviews) and price actually came in only slightly higher than expected, but went with other due to lack of responsiveness and not getting it all in estimate.

The design was excellent. It complemented the homes exterior and gave a completely different feel for the home from the curb. The driveway is pavestone, which is not commonly used in my neighborhood and gives the house a unique, high end presentation. The quality of the work was excellent. The only issue was that the overall project took longer to start and finish than anticipated.

I enjoyed working with them in the past, and I plan to hire them for tree removal shortly. They are a great company.

On the day of the work, the Hill Top guys arrived on time and got right to work. They had the 4 trees out and no trees to plant. The nursery delivering the trees didn't do what they said and were late. The Hill top guys waited and then when the trees came the nursery had stripped the bark from the large ash in two places. Hill top said they could not plant that tree, that it would die. While I went down to the nursery and picked out another tree, they planted the other two trees and then spent the rest of the afternoon planting this huge 20ft. / 4and quot; Raywood Ash tree that took a total of 6 men to get to the planting spot on a tree dolly. During the ordeal, they did cut a sprinkler line which they fixed. They staked the tree. In short, they did what they needed to do, the did it professionally and they didn't leave until the job was done late after 4 pm in the afternoon. The four and sometimes five guys, all courteous, all determined to see the job trough. Three days later, I got a call from Fred with the total due on this bill, and I was not shocked. The bill was totally reasonable. The quotes I rejected were all for removal only were in the $450.00 range. I got 4 trees removed and a 3and quot; red bud, a 4and quot; ash and a multi-trunked 30 gallon crape myrtle planted for $700.00. I have already recommended Hill Top to a neighbor and long time friend. I will call them again if the need arises and for another project I am considering.

This year, 2011, I called for an estimate, left a message and have had no response in the 2 weeks since I called. I won't be callling again. I am unsure that I will try to use them again in the future.

He did a very good drawing representation of the house to scale and where he would put plants in. I showed this to another guy and he said for him to get that kind of skill to compete with him he would have to go to design school and that's why we didn't use them. He was excellent. He gave us excellent service. I think they were a little pricey though I think it is subjective. The money that we gave them was worth the value.

I called to get an estimate on zeroscaping my yard. A rep phoned and came out when he said he would. Then he said he would come up with some drawings and prices and email them to me within a few days. After a full week passed I phoned and emailed to remind him that I was waiting for his estimate. After another week passed I phoned the home office - they just referred me back to the same rep. The rep has not answered any of my communications and I feel as though they have blown me off for no apparent reason.

They are the only people that I recommend. They moved large trees. They can provide detailed and accurate drawings of the entire property for the job they are going to do. Nobody else I interviewed could give me the drawings like that and they let me keep the drawings so that I could show them to my husband and decide on it. The people that came to do the work were very fast. I will have to rate them A on the price. They certainly give you a lot more than what anybody else does for the money they charge. They came really quickly to fix few of the problems that I had. A week later I called them to come and fix few pots that they left but they did not come. They finished the job very quickly.

Project was well designed, professionally executed. They planted low to medium water use shrubs, grasses and trees - These qualify us for a significant rebate on our city water bill.

The design team came and made excellent suggestions on how to configure the yards. The contruction of the patio wall and moss rock wall and flagstone installation was excellent. Moss rock wall looks wonderful and the flagstone is well fitted and mortared smoothly. However there were some difficulties. Installation of the moss rock wall and terracing badly damaged the root structure of an old, beloved mimosa. Despite assurances that the mimosa had not been damaged, one side of the mimosa was killed and had to be cut back. The rock salt texturing of the concrete steps washed into the lawn and resulted in a large brown area in the lawn. It took two years for the area to recover and grow. Soil preparation of the plants that Hilltop installed was mediocre and the plants have not thrived nearly as well as plants that we put in. The irrigation system does not evenly water the shrubs and trees. We have to hand water many of the plants and trees despite Hilltop's assurances that we would not need to do so. In summary, the design and construction were superb but the plants have not thrived for various reasons. Despite our calls to ask Hilltop to remedy the situation, the company has not offered an adequate solution. We have hired a lawn service to feed and care for the lawn and plants

They were very professional and did a very good job.

They were very nice and did the job, but they charged twice as much as another company and couldn't diagnose the reason behind the death of the trees.

The project never began, and I have just begun again to get bids for the work.

The builder, provides the landscaping for the front yard. It is my responsibility to landscape the side yards and back yard. We met with the contractor early and got a detailed plan. We could never have gotten anything better. We are pleased indeed.

We have used their services before. It went well. We did a lot of planning beforehand, which they were very good about. They drew up several different plans until we developed a plan that we were satisfied with. They workers did not speak English and that posed a few small barriers.

THIS COMPANY EMPLOYED FRIENDLY AND COMPETENT PEOPLE. THEY DID WHAT WE HAD ASKED THEM TO DO. THEY DID IT PROMPTLY AND CLEANED UP THE BRANCHES AND STUFF AFTERWARD.

THEY WERE REALLY GREAT TO WORK WITH. THE LANDSCAPER WE HAD LISTENED TO OUR IDEAS AND CREATED THE VISION WE HAD. IT LOOKS BETTER THAN WE HOPED. THE CREW WAS SUPER, TOO.

THIS GUY WAS REALLY GOOD WHEN HE STARTED THE JOB, BUT YOU HAD TO SUPERVISE HIM ALMOST AT ALL TIMES TO ENSURE THAT YOU WERE GETTING EXACTLY WHAT YOU WANTED. THE SPRINKLERS HE PUT IN QUIT WORKING THE SAME DAY HE FINISHED THE JOB.

I THINK HILLTOP'S TREE SERVICE IS A GOOD COMPANY TO HIRE. THE PEOPLE ARE SO FRIENDLY AND THE SERVICES ARE EXCELLENT. THEY DID A GREAT JOB AND THEY DID A GOOD JOB TO BE CAREFUL OF MY HOUSE.

THEY DESIGN WAS GREAT AND THEY DID BEAUTIFUL WORK. THE ONLY THING IS I WOULD NOT HIRE A LANDSCAPING COMPANY TO POUR CONCRETE. IT IS NOT REALLY THEIR FAULT BECAUSE THEY DON'T SPECIALIZE IN IT. OTHER THAN THAT THE WORK WAS PERFECT.
