We initially set up a time for an estimate and then when I informed the associate that my husband could not be present during the presentation, the appointment was cancelled by Anderson. We attempted to reschedule numerous times but my husband's schedule being very busy made their policy of having my husband present to receive the estimate impossible and we found this unreasonable considering that he would not be making the decision on the purchase nor would he have been involved in the payment. We most certainly would have installed Anderson had they not had such an unreasonable requirement to allow the estimate. It is unfortunate that such an old-fashioned policy exists that devalues a women's ability to make purchases and mandates that she have her husband's approval to make a purchase of her own. Response to Anderson: Canceling appointments and refusing to reschedule them without my husband agreeing to be present would seem to indicate that this is indeed an Anderson policy and not a recommendation. I was able to have several other window manufactures offer an in-home presentation of their products without my husband present and did replace all the windows in our home with a brand we are satisfied with but no doubt, had Anderson had not this policy we would likely have purchased them.
Description of Work: We attempted numerous times to set up an appointment for a measure and estimate. We had seen the windows and were impressed with the quality and were very much interested in obtaining an estimate.

Hello [removed member name], Thank you for your feedback. While it is not against our company policy to meet with only one homeowner, we do highly recommend both homeowners be present. I also want to clarify that it has nothing to do with simply having your spouse be present with you--we ask to meet with all homeowners regardless of their relationship, for a few reasons: Renewal by Andersen provides state-of-the-art, custom made windows and doors, and there are many unique aspects of our products that require explanation from an expert, ranging from the way gases are calibrated between the window panes depending on the elevation of your home to the functionality of our patented Fibrex material. In addition to that, we offer dozens of design options for interior & exterior styling, colors, grilles, and more for each window, and we need input on the homeowners' preferences in order to provide you with the most accurate quote--a quote which we guarantee for one full year. We have found that having our window representative meet with both homeowners to fully explain our products and answer any subsequent questions makes the information gathering process more efficient for our prospective customers, and helps to ensure they are fully informed and equipped with an accurate price quote for their records as they contemplate a significant home purchase decision. I welcome the opportunity to speak with you about our processes further if you are interested. Thank you, Sincerely, Dawn Dewey Marketing Director ddewey@dreamstyleremodel… 505-881-3200 ext. 135

The worst business experience of my life. There were college kids going around about a 15 sq. mile rural area. One came to our door and said our neighbors had been buying windows from this company. I asked which neighbor bought them and after repeated questioning found out they were referring to people in my rural area that were 5-6 miles away. That should have been a red flag! Well we set an appointment and someone came out to give their pitch. He said the windows were a certain thickness and the space between the panes were a certain measurement. I was impressed because both are indications of insulation efficiency. He showed me a sample and I questioned whether the measurements were accurate. He said they were and I trusted him. The small size made it difficult to make out whether he was right. There was an urgency to buy immediately or we would lose a 35% discount. Anyway, we bought the windows based on his claim. When they arrived, a snowstorm hit and when the first window came in, we noticed right away from the full size that the dimensions were not what the salesman claimed. I was going to stop installation but they had removed one window already and snow was coming in. We had decided to just let it go until I decided a month later to go into another window company at random and just see what the competition offered . The local factory of another company showed us premium windows that had a lifetime guarantee unlike our 20 year warranty. We noticed that their window spacing appeared to be superior to ours and the thickness was the same as ours. The frames were at least equal to ours. The cost was less than half of ours! It was then I knew we had been "taken". I had never heard back from the company after the sale. So I wrote to the BBB and made a gesture to offer the company a way out since false claims were involved just to get a quick sale. They refused to cooperate. Then I offered a less desirable resolution and again they refused this. The worst of it is they wouldn't back their product based on the salesman's claim. How would they back a warranty if they couldn't do this? So I contacted the corporate office and was told a specific person would return my call from the company. They never did. Then I called the original person back and she refused to return my call. I have been blacklisted so there is no way I will have contact from this company even warranty-wise. I am stuck with half my house with windows that were not as I was told and now there is no way to have matching windows because of their refusal to cooperate. They advertise they are an "affordable company" and yet, apparently, they markup their prices so they can "offer" a 35% discount. They have a huge TV ad campaign going on. Who is paying for all this? Customers! They seem to prey on the senior citizen community and the canvassing aspect appears to bear this out. They don't want anyone to check the competition so the discounts are offered as an immediate incentive to buy. If they were affordable, why wouldn't they WANT someone to check out the competition? The would have nothing to fear! These just some of the issues we encountered as the rest would be too long to enumerate. Is this the kind of company a customer would want to deal with? No! Steer clear of any with this name! By the way, there were 4 addresses on file for this company and 3 names being used [one of which was Four Seasons Sunrooms] which begs the question why this was being done. This became apparent when I started the BBB complaint. All these different names and addresses sound fishy. I should also mention that I have been attempting repeatedly to resolve this in an amicable manner every step of the way and yet there has been NO contact ever and NO effort to resolve this is ANY manner whatsoever. In response to the company's reply I would just add that the BBB does not "side" with consumers or businesses. This is a total lie. They only state whether a situation has been resolved which it wasn't, as no effort on the part of this business was made to resolve it. Also the form I completed at the time of installation was a rating on the installation primarily and not the overall experience with the company and windows. It was completed under duress as the installers stated something to the effect that they would not be paid unless submitted immediately. I randomly hit all 5's as I was too upset to give this any thought to this. However, a corporate rating was sent to me a couple weeks later when I had time to reflect on the experience and I gave the lowest possible ratings and returned it to the corporate office. The attempt by this business to mislead the public is exactly the type of concern I want readers to become aware of so they know the caliber of people this business represents. Having obtained a Ph.D. I abhor these kind of tactics and it gives businesses a bad name. As far as the installation process goes, we completed the rating before we noticed as late as 2 months later that shards of glass had to be removed from our walkway and garden. The statement that this company has tried to rectify the situation is ludicrous as NO ONE has called me from the local company. The corporate office wipes their hands saying they have no control over what local offices do. There are too many other complaints to mention in this short expose. Buyer beware is the adage to follow here. UPDATE: 7-13-15: As no resolution had had been reached to address the various issues above, I decided to attempt a reconciliation directly with the owner, based on my belief in the goodness of people. A meeting was scheduled on 5-2-15 to meet Larry Chavez, the owner. I attempted to explain what happened but was never allowed to complete my overview as each point I made was challenged. Then sarcasm about having a professional degree began, then badgering occurred to make me say something that was not true, and finally berating began before he called in another employee [obviously as a witness but who also attempted to intimidate me]. I walked out of the meeting saying I wouldn't tolerate this behavior. Then Larry threatened me as I was leaving saying "If you walk out I will sue you!' By this time I realized my efforts were in vain. Shortly after this, a conciliatory message appeared on my phone asking what it would take to resolve things. I doubted this was sincere but I was willing to wait a few days to see. When things got dragged out for longer than a few days I made arrangements with another window company. I decided to allow this scenario to play out for several reasons but one was so Angie's List members could get a good look at how this company handles disputes with paying customers. This process went on for 7 weeks and included help by a Dispute Resolution Manager at Angie's List. At one point Larry offered to take 30% off what we paid for the initial windows and also take off for the fact that we had smaller windows to replace and all at ground level. I explained I would need to see a dollar amount [as no one would pay for something without knowing what it cost]. It took 7 weeks to get this figure! One of the delay tactics was to say he needed window measurements even though Larry had been told this had already been done at the time of purchase. It took a couple weeks for this to occur. Then both myself and the Manager kept getting responses to our calls such as "I am not in my office and can't get that figure to you", " I will call Dr. Beery in the morning" [only to have to make more calls to reach Larry], and "I need to order his files" [to get the price information from the newly installed windows]. I allowed this process to unfold for several reasons, one of which was to have Angie's list members see fully to what extent this company would go to carry out a ruse. It should be mentioned that the Manager was told at one point I agreed to the 30% "offer". I never did and no one would ever agree to something that had no price on it. This again shows exactly the veracity of this company's comments. I finally received a letter dated 6-25 with a dollar amount! The figure was about $2000 per window which was above the cost of my original windows by over 20%! Then they tried to explain that this was a 50% discount! Wow! Between all the above issues and the mold problem we were told at the time of sale which later we found out was bogus, this HAS been our worst nightmare of any company we have dealt with. Especially egregious is the fact that a 3rd party, the Angie's List Manager, was included in the 7 week ruse. Lastly, I gave RBA another chance at redeeming themselves by offering a cash settlement for all of our mistreatment and false claims. They did not respond in the time required. So we have made many concessions only to no avail. I live by the creed "your word is your bond". I even grew up in that era. I understand not everyone does believe this, so this is life.
Description of Work: Put in 9 windows at an average cost of $1775 per window.

Mr. [member name removed], I am disappointed that you are unsatisfied, considering you gave us all “10s” on your customer satisfaction closeout survey and even included this comment, “Very pleasant people to work with.” During our 2.5 hour long presentation at the time you chose to purchase your windows, you handled an exact sample of the windows you purchased. We did not misrepresent any specifications of our windows, nor would we have any reason to; we offer a premium quality window with proven exceptional energy efficiency (among various other features), and we stand behind our product and installation with an outstanding warranty. The BBB recognized this fact, and that is why they sided with our company and closed your complaint case. You are correct, we are a locally owned company with more than 15,000 satisfied customers that has four locations in New Mexico, as well as locations in other western states. Our parent company is Dreamstyle Remodeling, and we offer a variety of home improvement brand names in addition to Renewal by Andersen, which is clearly explained and featured on our website and at our showroom at 1460 N. Renaissance Blvd. in Albuquerque. We have responded to your inquiries promptly, and we have made every reasonable effort to address your concerns, but we will not accept your campaign of threats including your recent email that stated you intend to cost our company, “6 digits over the course of the next full year in lost net profits,” by posting negative online reviews unless we refund you thousands of dollars. The windows were ordered and installed exactly as specified in the contract you signed. We provided seamless installation (through a snow storm, as you mentioned) and, according to your customer satisfaction survey response, also provided great customer service. If you wish to discuss further, I welcome the opportunity. Sincerely, Dawn Dewey Marketing Director Dreamstyle Remodeling 1460 N. At 11:54 AM on Sunday, March 29, a marked car from this business brought three individuals into our gated community to do door-to-door solicitation. Our security cameras clearly show this vehicle sneaking in behind a resident who was entering via their gate code. The president of our Board of Directors received calls from several homeowners that the solicitation was taking place. When he located them and asked them to leave, they became belligerent and refused to leave. He then phoned me, as vice-president, to help him deal with the situation. They continued with their belligerent, rude behavior and only condescended to drive slowly toward the exit gate at 2:18 PM when they knew we had phoned the police. I would never deal with a company whose business practices include sending such rude, obnoxious employees to solicit business in a gated community that is clearly posted as not allowing door-to-door solicitation.
Description of Work: Gained unauthorized entry into our gated community and spent close to two hours doing door-to-door solicitation, although our gates are posted that solicitation is not allowed.

Excellent experience. Quality of product is great and we like the ecco friendly manufacture of the product. Workmen were prompt when scheduled, very neat and cleaned up after each day. Are pleased with the windows keeping out the cold (or heat as appropriate) but also cut down considerably on outside noise (much more than expected). Did not care for sales tactic of "sign now to get this discount" but when we wanted to make a change the next day had no trouble getting that done.

On Monday, 23 Feb, scheduled an appointment with one of their "case workers" to have my home's windows measured and to be given a written estimate of replacement/installation costs of new Anderson Windows. While I was with the "case worker" scheduling the appointment, I also talked by phone with the scheduling office to confirm the appointment was for the following Thursday, 5 March, at 2 PM. Scheduling office said the appointment would take about two hours, and that I needed to have my spouse at the appointment. Thought that was a rather odd request, but we went ahead and made arrangements for both of us to be home for the appointment. Sadly, on the 5th the representative never showed up. They never called to say they would be late, never called to re-schedule, nothing---simply failed to show up. Thinking the sales representative might have been a little busy, we gave them some time to possibly show up late. After two hours, they still had not showed up, so I called the scheduling office and informed them that their representative failed to show. I also told them that since the representive failed to show, I wanted to completely cancel our measurement/cost estimate request. The scheduling representative apologized for the confusion, and said they would cancel our measurement/cost estimate appointment request. Exactly one week later, on 11 March, Dreamstyle Remodeling called me to "confirm your appointment for tomorrow at 2 PM". I informed the representative that the appointment had originally been for 5 March, that they had failed to show for that appointment, and that when I called them that afternoon to report the "no-show" that I had also told them to cancel my request. The representative said "Hold on just a second, let me check something". She came back on the line two minutes later and said "We have a note here that we called you and rescheduled the appointment." After informing her that they most certainly did not call to reschedule, that it was actually I who called them to inform them they never showed, and that when I called them I told them to completely cancel the request, she said "Oh", and then said she would go ahead and remove the request from their system.

This was a experience that would not allow me to recommend these people to anyone. The sales person showed up . . . was very laid back . . . showed me the doors on his computer . . . gave me a price . . . then tried to pressure me into buying that night so I could get 1/2 off the price he quoted. If he cut it in half . . . then that is what the price really was on the doors. I asked for the windows but after hearing that I didn't want to sign anything that night . . . he packed up and left. Rude, pushy . . . he must of thought I was a dumb widow. I used another company and got the same doors for a little less then his half price and they were the same manufacturer. I love the doors and the price. Never will I call Anderson again or recommend them.

It was very good. They put up plastic so dust wouldn't be in the house. They were here when they said they would be here. There were no problems. They are pricey but you get what you pay for. We checked out 3 other places and they wanted to put on a plastic trim to cover where they cut around the outside which looks tacky. Renewal had a darker frame that would look good with the house. The composite product was nice and solid.

UPDATE: Mr. Cromwell had the door stoop redone. Not the best concrete work I've seen as one corner of the stoop leans out a bit, and they widened the stoop which is fine but it now halfway overhangs a sprinkler head. The sprinkler system doesn't work anyway and I would have removed the sprinkler head if I had known it might be in the way. As it is now the stoop arches over the sprinkler head which doesn't look very good. But the cracks are gone now. ----- The quality of the actual door seems to be good and solid. There were some issues with the framing and staining of the trim which they took care of professionally and promptly. The big issue is an ongoing issue with cracks that formed while the concrete for the new door stoop was setting. Initially Mr. Cromwell sent someone out to patch the crack, which only ended up making two cracks where the patch met the original concrete. Cromwell sent someone out again, and he removed the faulty stoop and poured a new one with a piece of rebar. A crack still formed as the concrete set. Cromwell responded to my email with a phone call and told me that the concrete worker said "sometimes concrete just does that", and to contact him when the crack gets about as thick as a dime. As of today, the crack is about as wide as the thickness of a dime, plus there is an additional hairline crack. I've emailed Mr. Cromwell with photos of the cracks. In my personal opinion an expert in concrete would never say "sometimes concrete just does that" and new concrete should not have cracks in it if done correctly. I'd like to be able to show people my new Andersen back door without also having to point out the ever-expanding crack that came with it.

They are fabulous. They were very good. The people who stucco did it the rain and it washed off. I called Mr. Cromwell and he was shocked. He came out immediately and they redid 2 more walls to match. They did 3/4 of my house. I was very impressed with Mr. Cromwell and the manager of construction. The people who put in the windows were nice and cleaned up everything. They were spectacular and extremely intelligent. I even made coffee for them. They were also funny and helpful. They told us we were the nicest people they have ever worked for. They even cleaned the windows that they didn't replace. I would rather pay a little bit to have first class workers. It was slightly higher than I expected. They gave me some windows by the door that are difficult to break. I have recommended them to a neighbor.

It was pretty good. The quality of the windows was good. I didn't like the way they market the windows. I didn't like the salesperson. They are not upfront on what they can offer you and how much the price was. The installers were super, fast, polite, and clean. They didn't follow up after the work was done to see if I was happy. They wanted me to fill out a questionnaire before the work was even done.
Description of Work: They replaced 13 windows.

It was very good. I've used them before. I was very pleased. They are very efficient and nice. They are very responsive if you have a problem. The previous time that I used them, a window had a crack in it and they came out immediately.
Description of Work: They put in 2 windows.

It was good. They are very nice windows and are supposed to last very long. They keep the room warm. They are pricey. The workers were good and professional.
Description of Work: In May they installed 2 windows for the living room and in September they installed 2 windows in the bedroom.

Most of it was good. They are having to come back because the factory made a mistake on the door. The quality was good. We are pleased with the windows. We would have liked to wrap it up in one session. The price was fair.
Description of Work: They replaced about 11 windows.
