Description of Work: My Whirlpool refrigerator was still under warranty so I did not have a choice of appliance repair companies. Whirlpool scheduled an appointment with Dalton. The appointment was about a week out so I called and asked Whirlpool if there was anyone else that could do the repair sooner. I contacted another company who could have come out in a couple days, but Whirlpool hadn't bothered to certify them on this particular model. Frost was building up on the back of the freezer compartment, water was all over the kitchen floor the morning after I scheduled the appointment, and the refrigerator was making all sorts of loud noise. I didn't think it would last another week and a half. Called Dalton back, explained the situation and asked if there was any way a repairman could come out sooner. Was told they could put me on a cancellation list. Then said they had a cancellation, for a sooner date so I took it. Of course, once they find the problem they have to order the parts and in my case it took 3.5 weeks to receive. The first time they replaced a number of boards. Two days later it still wasn't making ice so I called again (needless to say there was a weekend in there and they're closed). Of course, it was approximately 5 days before they could come back out to look at it. Once again they have to order the parts and then schedule another appointment. Not knowing how much longer my refrigerator would last, and knowing how far out they were scheduling appointments, I contacted the service department each time to check on the status of the parts. On both occasions Chris was able to get that information and schedule an appointment to replace the parts. My only complaint with Dalton is, if I wasn't proactive and contacted them each time to get the status of the parts, how much longer would it have been before my refrigerator was repaired. Numerous times I left messages when their lines were busy. No one ever called me back. This is precious wasted time. I'm not sure what Dalton's process is since I always contacted them, but it would be helpful if they could schedule an appointment as soon as they know when they will receive the parts, not after they receive the parts. Although the girls that answer the phones are very pleasant, could someone with repair experience determine the priority and help with the scheduling? It took 7 weeks from my initial call to Whirlpool until my refrigerator was in complete working order. I know, we're spoiled and everyone wants their appliance repaired yesterday, but isn't there a better way to prioritize appointments? And, please, don't tell us to press 221 or 222 and leave a message unless you're going to return our calls. Both repairmen were professional and courteous.

Description of Work: Replaced a broken heating element on clothes dryer; cleaned a filter on dishwasher. Excellent service. However, I was surprised by a separate service call charge to have the second appliance looked at. First service call charge was $120, then the additional service call charge for the dishwasher was an additional $70. I should have asked for an estimate before services were performed.

Description of Work: My dishwasher was slow to recover after a hard freeze. I did not wait long enough before calling for help. The Dalton tech came promptly the next business day, but by that time a weekend thawing had finally fixed the actual problem (frozen water in the outlet line). The tech gave me useful advice on other matters--it certainly was not Dalton's fault that I misdiagnosed my problem. | |Date and price are quite approximate. | |On a previous occasion I called Dalton when my trash compactor failed (broken gear). They diagnosed my problem correctly, and replaced the gear on a second visit. No problems.

I was very pleased. The Company answered right away (no voicemail). Kristi worked with me to make sure we were ordering the right parts. A very pleasant, very professional technician (Pete) arrived just two days later. He was very knowledgeably and very quick. Despite our best efforts, Kristi and I had ordered one part incorrectly, so Pete left for about 20 minutes, picked up the correct part, and finished the job. The ice maker has never worked better. I will definitely use Dalton again if I need appliance repair. They're terrific!!

The technician arrived at the scheduled time and completed the work in less than a hour and a half. We suggested that the labor fee should be reduced since $400 seemed high for the work of one and a half hours. At that time we were told that this was a flat fee and not related to the hours worked. We were not pleased with this response and indicated our displeasure to the technician who passed our response along to Mr. Dalton, the company owner. Mr. Dalton called and explained their policies and we explained where we felt they had failed in communication and service. Mr. Dalton was supportative of our concerns and did his best to help us reach a satisfactory conclusion.
Description of Work: Our Sub Zero refrigerator had a large build up of ice on the rear inside wall. Dalton, a certified Sub Zero service facility, determined that there was a leak in the sealed system and that the evaporator and drier needed to be replaced. We were given an estimate of $400 for the labor and a rough estimate of about $350-$400 for the parts. We were also told that the labor was expensive because this job took about 3 hours. When I followed up with a call to the Sub Zero customer service center, they stated that the unit was still under warranty and that the parts would be covered in full; the representative expressed surprise that Dalton had not checked on this for us. We paid a deposit of $200 so that parts could be ordered and the repair was done on the day scheduled.

I called LG customer service to find authorized repair companies in the area and two of the three names they gave me were on Angie's List with excellent ratings. I got an appointment with Dalton that suited my schedule. The technician was trained on LG, but had not worked on my model before. After examining the machine thoroughly and cleaning lint build up, he called LG and their representative helped him find the problem. It required a part. I called after a week and was directed to the parts department. My call was returned quickly with the news that the part should be in shortly. It was, and another technician came out to replace it. He also advised me to have a grounded outlet installed to avoid motherboard failure. That tip could save me a costly repair. The machine runs great now. I was very pleased with Dalton's quick response and quality work.
Description of Work: My older model LG combination washer-dryer was taking longer to dry. It has a vent-less, evaporative drying system that requires occasional draining and it needed more frequent draining than usual. Sometimes water leaked into the machine if the supply faucets were not shut off.

This is the second time I have used this company. They quoted an arrival time between 1 and 2 p.m. They arrived at 1 pm and left just around 2. I hope I don't have to use them again but if the need arises, I will only use them.
Description of Work: My dryer created a large spark when I opened it and then wouldn't turn on anymore. I called Dalton in the morning and they came out at 1 p.m. right when promised. The repairman went right to work and diagnosed the problem and repaired the door switch. He was here just an hour.

The company was able to come out within a day of my first call. The technician was very polite and professional. He was considerate of my home and keeping it clean, as well as allowing me to clean behind the oven before he put it back. I would definitely recommend them and will use them in the future if I have appliance repair needs.
Description of Work: My oven was damaged by lightning strike and Dalton came out, determined the problem was a burned out sensor and replaced it.

Their technician (A young man named Pete) arrived very on time, was clean-cut, very clean dressed impeccably in work clothes, very friendly and articulate. He determined the problem immediately and gave us an estimate of the cost. He took out the old fan and replaced it with a new one of better quality which he had in his van, cleaned up the site and was finished in perhaps 25/30 mins. After about 30 mins., my wife thought that the new fan didn't seem to be working and she called their office. Pete came back within 15 / 20 mins., inspected the thing (which by then was back working like a champ) -wouldn't you know it- and assured us that every thing was in order, but to call back if there were any more scares. Well, its been 24 hrs. Now and we're happy to report that all's well.
Description of Work: Their technician replaced the fan on the freezer part of our Maytag Refrigerator. The refrigerator is about 6 to 7 years old and the same fan had gone out once before about 2 or three years ago. At that time we had hired DALTON SERV. CENT. from the phone's yellow pages. This recent time we hired them from ANGIE'S LIST and we are very, very pleased with their service on both times. This time, instead of calling them on the phone, I decided to stop by their place and "Scope it out" I got to meet three of the ladies working there and also met and chatted with Mike the owner. A very wonderful experience. All four of them very nice folks.

Description of Work: My Jenn-Air oven had a faulty LED/Clock. They ordered the part in based on a phone call and called me for scheduling installation after it arrived. I expected to have to pay for installation and the parts, but was pleasantly surprised when I was informed a warranty I thought had expired was indeed in place for the parts. I've used them before for a washing machine and had great service then also.
