They were fabulous. They are considerably more expensive. I was convinced to put out that kind of money on it. I live in New Mexico and we have intense sun. The flat roofing is kind of a constant problem. It holds up over time if I find the right material. It also is white color so it reflects the heat. I have been thrilled and it’s just a year down the road. These are just fairly new addition and the original roofing only lasted couple of years. It has a life time warranty and I guess I will see if there are any problems. There are a lot of references for them on Angie’s List. I read threw all of them. It was the same conversation saying that they were expensive but worth it. It was a different material and it was convincing to me that the material that they were using was better for this kind of roof. The majority of my house has pitched roof. It was the flat roof portion that I needed to have replaced. All of the listings on Angie’s List convinced me to move in that direction. Putting in a new roof can just be really messy and time consuming. They were finished because didn’t have to tear up the old roof. They just came in and laid the new fabric. They were in and out in a couple of hours. There was no noise and no smell. They didn’t have to tear up anything and they laid it right over it. The people were really nice. In fact there was $250 credit because I was an Angie’s List member. That was nice. There was some of the other estimates I got and they were twice as much.
Description of Work: BAC Enterprises Inc did couple of additions to the roof. They put different types of roof and it was elaborate. They also put in special kind of fabric.

It was great. I liked the quality and the follow-up. It wasn’t just someone coming here and giving us an estimate, and then someone else doing the job. There was actually someone who came back and inspected and made sure we were happy. They had the crew come back to fix a couple of things. The price was a little high.

The work crew were excellent. The foreman kept in touch daily. They were prompt, worked from the time they arrived on the job until time to quit with an hour off for lunch. We have a large home and because they had to strip down all of the gravel etc. and then install the new material it took several days. We expect this roof to last us many, many years.

We knew it would be more expensive than a tar & gravel replacement, but felt the membrane system would last considerably longer. Compared to other membrane products we researched, the price was right in line. It also took longer to install, but we expected that too. The BAC installers are more than just workers, they are professionals. We had the same crew members every day and it was obvious they all understood how the product was supposed to be installed. They were very prompt, explained every step of the process, and gladly answered any questions I had. When it was all complete they cleaned up thoroughly. Crew chief Adrian did a great job of coordination. I am very impressed with the quality of the material and installation. The membrane material is heat seamed, not glued, and close inspection revealed the seams to be continuous with integrity. Perhaps the most impressive part are the boots placed over any roof penetration (vents, skylights, etc.). They are form-fitted and look as if designed for our roof. Even the canales are integrated into the membrane. I don't think I will worry about leaks for the rest of my life.
Description of Work: We had a long-term mystery leak in our tar & gravel flat roof (approx. 2500 sf flat area). Every attempt to patch it over a 2-year period failed. With our infrequent rainfall, we had to wait long periods before the patches were tested. So we had BAC replace the entire roof with their membrane system.

Sent out a gentleman to give me an estimate and he did. Was told there was a long waiting list. When I called several weeks later to check on the schedule for my job I was told that he had retired and I needed another estimate. A other gentleman came and did another estimate. I was then put another waiting list and called and called. Finally figured they didn't really want to do my job. It may have been more complicated than they could deal with. They should have just told me.

The original bid was given by our previous salesman. When the new salesman cored the roof to verify the existing roofing materials, he found more than one roof layer. At that moment, Building code requires we remove all existing roofing materials before we can install a new roof! The roof was established to be flat with no slope built into the structure. Building code requires we add a taper system to provide positive drainage. In an area with an access door, there wasn't enough height from the deck to the bottom of the door to install the taper system. We suggested removing the door and installing a window. As the scope of the project continued to change the price quickly escalated. Even the price of adding the window changed once we determined the house had expensive Pella windows. BAC Enterprises provided answers to all the homes issues while conforming to Building Codes and offering our Lifetime warrantied residential roofing product. BAC will not circumvent Building Codes or cut corners on installation to lower the overall cost on a project. This home has many issues which requires a significant investment to correct. Don't get mad at the messenger if the price is more than you would have liked.

Did not decide to go with Bac because they were to expensive and found out after reviewing other companies that they did not have a complete service such as scraping and disposing of rock and tar. As this would have been extra money. So I decided to go with another company who had everything included.

I started calling the contact number given on Angie's list after checking reviews on-site and thought BAC Enterprises sounded pretty good. First call was to an answering machine on Nov.15th if I remember correctly, on a Friday. No response from BAC. I called again on the next Wednesday, again to an answering machine and no response from BAC. From the reviews on Angie's list it sounded like BAC had the roofing system I wanted and had mostly good reviews on-line so I decided to try again. Called the contact number again on Nov.25th, on a Monday and did get a live person. We discussed the roof problem and he had their salesman, Bill, contact me later that day. We made an appointment for December 9th at app. 1:00 PM. Bill did tell me how busy they were and that repairs would probably be out at least 2 months. I understand being busy with all the bad weather in our area lately & I had the existing leak fixed well enough for a temporary solution but really wanted a new roof with the membrane I had heard many good things about so I was looking forward to a permanent fix. I re-arranged my schedule so I could be home for the estimate walk thru on the 9th. Bill called me at around 9:30 & advised me that his boss wouldn't let him go on any roofs today due to the weather. ( I admit it's cold, but there is no ice involved & all snow is melted & no wind to speak of. I work construction so I know what bad weather can cause & I am also a safety professional & would not ask anyone to take a risk for an estimate. I do not see any hazard that would deter a good company from keeping their appointment today.) Anyhow, I asked Bill if we could re-schedule for tomorrow or later this week. He informed me that his next opening wasn't until the 18th. I reluctantly set up an appointment for the 18th, but after hanging up I started thinking about it and realized any professional company would take their scheduled appointments in order & obviously BAC had just bumped me to the end of the line preferring to keep other appointments, scheduled later, instead of mine. I called Bill back and told him my dissatisfaction with his company's lack of professionalism & cancelled my appointment. He said "Sorry" & hung up. Please understand, we as customers and consumers have to put up with a lot of unprofessional attitudes from companies and businesses that have taken the" pride" out of their customer service. It seems to me that the general attitude is that - Fine - if you don't want our business, somebody else will, so "Sorry" & hang up! It took 3 calls just to get a response from BAC which in itself should have been a pretty good indicator of their professional demeanor, but I wanted their product so I kept trying. The appointment wasn't moved to the next in line, it was bumped back behind all other appointments made to this date. That is unacceptable! I wanted to warn future consumers. Oh well - Sorry.

Response from CAS Enterprises, Inc
During and after inclimate weather, our phones are very busy resulting in some customers having to leave messages. It is, however, unacceptable for the time lapse in returning the customers call. A new message system has been implemented to reduce the call back time to set appointments. I, Clint Satterfield, do stand by my decision not to send my salesman into sub freezing temperatures. BAC Enterprises sincerely cares about our employees and their well being. Any comments that there were no safety concerns should be disregarded as nonsense and the customers lack of concern should be noted. When called to reschedule his appointment, the customer accepted the later appointment. He later called to voice his dissatisfaction. If given the opportunity, the customer could have rescheduled for an appointment this weekend. My salesman, Bill, did appologize for having to reschedule, however, he absolutly did not respond "sorry" and then hang up! The comments of this customer should not be revelent to any future decisions made by informed members.

BAC was contacted after the 5 inch rain of July 2013 resulted in roof leaking. Bill Younts came out within 3 days, explained his roof and lifetime guarantee, and scheduled the job. It took 3 months to start, due to a backlog of roofing jobs and another heavy 3 inch rain in Sept. Augustine was the foreman in charge of the 3 man crew. They always showed up promptly, came before 8 on 2 days when I had to leave early, worked nonstop with only a lunch break, and cleaned all stray membrane cuttings each day. Ordered skylights did not arrive when expected and Augustine came out the following week and completed that installation. I am extremely pleased with the roof and the work done and trust I will never have to replace my roof again.

BAC Enterprises, Inc. sincerely apologizes to [Member name removed] for not responding to his needs in a timely manner. We pride ourselves in providing the very best customer service. Our current policy of estimate request will be reviewed and adjusted so this cannot happen again.

The thoroughness of the initial examination of the existing roof was excellent. The report back to me was clear and articulate with everything explained carefully, assuring I understood everything. The date was set and contract signed without rush or pressure. The original date needed to be postponed a couple of days because of weather and to coordinate with repair work on porch section. Payment matched the estimates exactly and was in two halves. Work was carefully done with minimal disruption and noise. Post-job clean up was reasonably done. The whole process was well coordinated with Bill Younts, BAC rep, who was patient, open and personable. I have another residence and would certainly use the same process and company.

An appointment was made promptly and the representative was at my home right on time. He provided a good explanation of the services and materials they use and the life time warranty. Since my roof was currently leaking, it is the rainy season and it would be a few weeks before they could schedule the job, Tom spent about an hour on my roof patching the problem areas. He estimated that it would be about 8 weeks before they could get to my roof, but would try to make it sooner. The work began about 4 weeks after the initial estimate and took six days. The workers were prompt, professional. friendly and neat. The area was clean each day when they left. We have had heavy rains since the new roof was completed and I have had no problems at all with leaks. This was the most expensive estimate but I felt it was worth the extra cost because of the life time warranty. I'm pleased with the job done and would recommend this company.

The new metal roof looks beautiful. They do not use standard metal that you see on most houses around here. This metal roof is curved and looks like ceramic tile from a distance. The metal they use is more rugged and durable than most and thus it has a 50-year warranty. We love it! The workers were all very professional and efficient.

I wanted to update my review and let you know that BAC was very responsive overall to our recent roof leak and I wanted to amend my previous evaluation a bit. There was a bit of miscommunication between BAC employees and myself and what I thought was a membrane problem may have been a small hole in the stucco that caused the small leak we had. All is well at this point and I want to commend BAC and reps like Lucas Satterfield for their prompt and courteous handling of this issue. One thing you can count on from this company is quality and responsiveness. Thanks BAC! We had BAC Enterprises install one of their membrane roof systems on our house last summer (2012). This cost us nearly $20,000 and much travail after one of the installers drilled about 20+ holes through our ceiling in the process. BAC made things right at the time however (you can read that review at Angies too). We've had two problems with the membrane roof since the installation last year: 1) This past spring (2013) we had problems with the membrane flapping and banging onto the ceiling. (In our area gusty, persistent winds are a regular occurrence in the Spring.) My understanding is that the membrane needs to "breathe" to keep moisture out but the flapping and banging was very loud and unnerving. I climbed a ladder to look at the membrane during one high wind event and was shocked to see the membrane billowing up as high as 6 inches. This was pretty much localized to an area above the dining room and living room although other areas were rippling as well. I called BAC (Bill Younts, Sales Mgr.) and he put me in touch with Lucas, BAC's quality guy in Albuquerque. Lucas came out and suggested he seal off two short portions of the edge of the membrane where it meets the wall and faces the wind. A quick fix that cut down the flapping considerably, but not totally. We'll see what happens when the winds kick up again next Spring. BAC's low-tech approach is evidently to use a cinder block (???) if this issue persists down the road, or at least that what I was given to understand. Anyway, an A+ goes to Bill and Lucas for their professionalism and quick response to this issue.) 2) A year and 20 grand later and guess what? We had a leak during a rainstorm this past Friday...granted, ithis is the first time we've had any leak since the roof was installed and it was a small leak, but after all that money and the hype over this roof system we should have NO LEAKS WHATSOEVER!! So I was dismayed and a bit upset on Friday (as was my wife). I talked to Becky at BAC and she was superb. She said she'd get an installer to call me right away and she did. (An A+ for Becky!) Mario, the same installer who led the crew on our roof installation last year, called within 15-20 minutes. He said he'd try to get out that afternoon but since he was a good distance away at the time we decided today (Monday, July 22) would be better. Mario said he be out our way around 8:30 and would call to let us know when he was on his way. Luckily my son was home and that meant my wife and I wouldn't have to miss time from work. However, Mario didn't call at 8:30, or 9:00, or 9:30, or 10:00. At 10:30 I called BAC from my office at work and spoke with Lucas. He said this wasn't acceptable and shortly thereafter I heard from Mario. I asked why he didn't call and all I got was an excuse. As I write this Mario found a dime -sized hole in the membrane and patched it. He'll come out tomorrow to use the low-tech cinder block routine to cut down on future flapping I guess. I am somewhat disillusioned with BAC Enterprises and the overall quality of the installation done on our home last year evidenced by the membrane flapping/banging and this recent leak. I wouldn't give them an A rating now overall, but a B to B+. My main issue with BAC is with their installation crews and installation, not the product or material or the system itself (although the cinder block solution makes me wonder a bit). That's where BAC's weakness lies in my book. The installers lack true customer service understanding and skills.Perhaps they need more installation training as well..I don't know. I do know the installers have a very tough job and I appreciate that aspect and don't envy them that. One thing I want to praise BAC for is their overall responsiveness to my problems and the professionalism and great customer service from Bill Younts, Becky, and Lucas.
