Description of Work: It took them 10 weeks from the evaluation and estimate until the work was completed. They mixed up our estimate with our neighbors estimate, making our repair about 3 times more than we expected. Very frustrating experience. But our roof seems to be fixed.

They did a really good job. I have a flat roof that I had a lot of problems with. They put a whole new roof on that has been very reliable and we've been very happy with it. I'd say the price was reasonable, though I don't have much to compare it to since I didn't check with other roofers. It didn't see way out of line.
Description of Work: AAA Roofing Co came by today to do an annual inspection, see if there was any work to be done and make sure the roof was okay.

We wanted a certain color of shingle and Tom found it for us at a great price. He did the work while we were out of town so we were not bothered by the noise. He also worked with our solar panel company to coordinate their efforts to install the panels on the roof once the shingles were finished.
Description of Work: The roofers removed all old shingles and replaced them with the new ones. They cleaned up before leaving. We have a pitched roof with several skylights. About a week after the job was complete we had a rainstorm. The next day Tom Kirkpatrick called to see if we had any leak issues. None were noticed then, but in another week or so there was some leaking around a skylight, which I reported to Tom. He sent over a crew right away and they repaired the leak. It hasn't been a problem since.

The roofers had an opening and arranged to come a week earlier than initially scheduled. They arrived between 7-7:30 in the a.m. and were completely done, including an excellent clean up job, before 4 p.m.! I was very impressed. One supervisor came by to explain what would be done and how the whole job would work and asked if I had any questions. A couple of days later the 'original' contact John arrived with another supervisor to check out the work and the clean up and to see if there were any problems or conditions I wanted corrected. There were two minor, very minor items that they corrected easily, and also a little additional nail pick up. The only problems I had were with John not calling back with an estimate on doing the patio cover and just showing up after the roof was complete to tell me that his original guesstimate was way too low and he couldn't do the patio roof for what he'd quoted. He was also supposed to call me back regarding another cheaper alternative to doing the patio cover and he hasn't called on that, just sent the bill for the balance of the roof in the mail with the higher quote on the patio cover we wouldn't go with. The communication with John could be better. But the actual roofing job was done well and quickly, which was the important thing. I got 3 bids to do this work, and AAA was a tiny bit higher than the other two, but I went with them because I liked John, the package he provided with licensing, insurance and references, and what I learned from Angie's List and the Better Business Bureau.

Everything was great until they had our money. The guy who came out to do the estimate seemed knowledgeable, friendly, and answered all my questions. Once we made a down payment and scheduled a date, things got frustrating. First they called to reschedule, putting our job off another two weeks. But it was mostly broken promises and quality that resulted in this rating. We were promised a crew of 3-4 guys who were experienced and could speak English. We were promised that they would bring a generator, so they wouldn't have to tap into our home's power. Our small home was supposed to take 2 days. Well, it was only two guys that showed up and my husband could only speak well to one of them. They did not bring a generator and had to tap into house power. My husband next discovered that their tools were sub-standard and one guy was working with a broken nail gun. Things were moving very slow because of this. He had to call the company to get them to send out a generator and ARGUE with AAA Roofing to get them to replace the broken tools with new one! The job ended up taking 3 days, one of which I had to stay in a hotel for, since they went over schedule. Some notes on quality: We had had a significant leak that prompted us to replace our old roof. The area that leaked had warped wood decking and they were supposed to replace any bad boards they found. They did not replace them. They reinstalled one of our gutters improperly. When they finally finished, a large portion of the shingles were not laying flat. We were assured that they would lay down in time. Most of them did, but some did not and still look off. They did do a good job paint matching our vents. Most of the roof looks ok, but with this kind of '"service" I would expect their prices to be rock bottom, instead of the mid range. They reimbursed my night at the hotel and charged not a cent over the estimate. They are lucky I was out of town for all of this, or they would have gotten less. If I could go back, I would choose a different company.

Extremely poor customer communication will keep me from ever using or referring this company. Met with company rep in mid october for bid. Rep was on time, professional and knowledgeable. I pointed out the three areas of concern where I knew we had leak issues. We discussed options including a partial reroof for one of the leak areas and then general maintenance and repair on the remaining areas. About a week later I accepted their proposal and made a 1/3 downpayment. I got an e-mail from the company comptroller indicating the work was scheduled for Nov 10th. I made arrangements to take the day off. There was no further communication from the company. On Nov 10th around 9am no work crews had shown up and I had received no status report. I called the office and the employee who answered the phone said they would have to get backto me. About a half hour later I got a call saying they were not coming that day because weather condidtions on the previous day forced them to stop work early. This would have been nice to know! They said they could come on Friday but I said I could not make arrangements to get the day off so we settled on rescheduling the work for Nov 17th. I also later received a vm from the company indicating that it was not necessary for me to be present while the work was being done. This would have been nice to know earlier. The work crew showed up as scheduled. The rep who gave me the bid was also there and told me that the crew foreman would arrive shortly. He would introduce me and we could go over the work to be done. If the crew foreman ever did arrive I was never made aware. The crew worked all day and left. Again zero communication as to whether they were done or would be coming back. That Friday I received a vm that the company rep and job foreman would be coming out the following week to examine the work done. That weekend I climbed up on the roof to examine the work myself. There were areas where no general maintenance was done and two of the three leak areas were untouched. When and IF someone came that next week to examine the roof I was never made aware of anything until later that week when a lone person showed up and worked all on the roof. AGAIN, absolutely zero communication as to what was done by this single worker. AGAIN I'm climbing back up on the roof to check things out. This time the general maintenance had been completed and 1 of the 2 remaining leak areas had been taken care of. Still, nothing has been communicated to me. During the week of Nov 29th a company truck pulls up. The employee said he is here to do some gluing on the seams of the partial re roof. First I knew it wasn't done. I asked him about the walkway on the reroof that was suppose to be done and about repairing the remaining leak area. He wasn't aware of either so I climbed up on the roof, again, and showed him what still needed to be done. This was all work that was part of the original proposal!!! He said he would have to come back when the weather was a little nicer to complete that work. I heard nothing from anyone again until Dec 24th when the comptroller called to inquire if I had gotten the invoice for the work. She had e-mailed it but I had never gotten it. Not the first time I was suppose to get something from them via e-mail that never seemed to find its way to my inbox. She told me that it was a problem with my spam filter. OH! I asked her if the remaining work had been done that I talked to whoever theperson was that came out the last week of Nov about. She insisted that the work had all been completed but would have the company rep who did the original bid call me. So once again, of course, I get to climb up on the roof to see if the work had truly been completed. NOPE. On Jan 4 I got a call from the company rep. We talked about the situation and work tthat still needed to be completed based on his original proposal. Sometime later that same week we found an invoice lodged in our front door. No explanation, no followup phone call, message etc on what happened. So, here I go again that following weekend, pulling out the ladder, climbing up the roof(multi levels so not the easiest thing to do). ALAS, the work was now finally completed!!!! I called the company later the following week and gave them payment information. I later received a final invoice marked paid. It took nearly 3 months from start to completion. Just seems that when someone is investing $4000 into roof work it's not asking to much to keep the customer informed as to the status of the project.
