When they opened the wall, there were two columns where we thought there would be one. After a quick conference a plan was implemented and both were removed. The price difference we more than fair and the quality of work was outstanding. You cannot go wrong with these guys.

I contacted Structural MD after my township inspector failed my framing inspection for an addition I am constructing for my home. I am adding a family room to my existing home and am acting as my own general contractor. Because I wanted vaulted ceilings in the addition, I planned to use an LVL ridge beam which is a specially engineered piece of lumber for that type of application. Although my township inspector approved my plans, upon inspection he informed me I would need an engineer to inspect and provide a letter stating that the beam I installed was adequate for the use. Wish he told me that when I submitted my plans! I contacted Structural MD and asked if they could provide this service. I spoke to Mia who was extremely helpful and she set up an appointment for their engineer George to inspect my property. She assured me that George was extremely honest and would only suggest the minimal necessary work, if any, to remediate the situation. Honestly, I was skeptical and assumed the result would be a few thousand dollars worth of work that the company would want to provide. I was completely wrong! George was one of the most honest and professional people I have dealt with. He asked for the specs and a few pictures and ran the calculations for me. He told me the beam I used was more than adequate for the application and immediately sent me a letter stating so. I was so thrilled to come across someone who is honest and trustworthy. I've done tons of work on homes I have owned and contracting is an industry where you run into so many dishonest people who are only trying to rip you off. That's why I'm doing my own GC work. Hiring Structural MD and working with George provided much needed relief in an overwhelmingly stressful situation. I am starting my own real estate business that will involve major home renovations. I would never think of using anyone besides Structural MD for similar needs in the future.

My initial review was somewhat marginal, but now several years later I will say that the reinforcement has been perfect, and they did eventually provide the engineered drawings that were promised shortly after the project completion. Only hitch was with the length of the steel, which they did correct by welding on tabs to each end. Ultimately it was a good job and completed in one day. Would definitely use them again if I needed to reinforce a structure.

StructuralMD had confused me at first (because their representative told me they do no fee estimates for basement waterproofing inspections, scheduled an appointment, and then called me to say that they actually do charge depending on the nature of the work), they are more responsive and helpful than I initially thought. Their engineer George called me to explain and offered to answer questions we have about our **our basement water issues **and possibly visit us if we weren't satisfied with other contractors' solutions. Depending on how things go, we may get some help from them after all. *

I am selling my home and the home inspector seemed to feel that my sloping floor (I'm on slab) was a major issue. The inspector wrote down in his report that I had a 3 inch slope, it is a MAJOR problem, and its going to be a BIG expense because my slab most likely needs to be replaced. Needless to say, I didn't sleep very well for the next few days. That is until George came out and put my mind at ease. He came out very quickly, took a ton of measurements and assured me that the sloping floor is not a structural issue and the house is indeed, structurally sound. He was professional and very friendly. My report was in my hands in less than 48 hours. I am a real estate agent and have worked with a few engineers in the past. The last one took 4 weeks from start to finish to get me a report. Will be recommending George to my peers and any future clients that may need a structural engineer in the future. Second time I use Lallygone and once more they were extremely professional and accommodating. They asked me a few questions upon arrival and explained pros & cons of a few options on how to replace the joists. From that point on they worked non stop from 9am to 9:30pm to get the job done in a single day. A few of the joists were difficult to access with plumbing lines wrapped around. Chris and his crew worked it all out without making a big deal and got the job done. Highly recommend their service.

Communication with the office was excellent. There were a few organizational issues - double booked us with another client, so had to change date - but they did ours earlier than planned, so we were happy with that! The guy who did the work arrived later than planned but did a good job and cleaned up incredibly well. We had our inspection and didn't pass because the standard plans submitted called for two steel beams and but our job only required one. This was quickly resolved by George with a letter to the town's building inspector with the adjustment and we passed inspection. Thanks to George and team! I don't know why EVERYONE doesn't do this! Well worth it!

Went fine. It wasn't very formal as it was only a quick visual inspection that lasted about 10 minutes. I did receive a formal letter stating the findings which is basically what I wanted. All and all good service and pleasant to work with.

OK except it took most of the month for the write up to arrive.

It took a couple of tries to schedule an estimate, but once we did they showed up when they said they would and finished up in one day. We had a few contractors who told us "can't be done" or it will be cost prohibitive, but they did it with no problem.

Excellent! Got it installed exactly on schedule and in less time than they originally thought. Wish it wasn't $2200, but now that the space is opened up, was worth the extra money for the future basement renovation.

Good and bad, I guess. They cut the price down and then honored a web coupon. I couldn't imagine anyone doing it for less. There were something that were damaged that they didn't really pay too close attention to detail to. When you call the main office, my wife had great experience. They were getting right back to her. But when I would call the engineer directly, I really wouldn't get timely responses. As far as when they scheduled to do the work, they were right here on-time.

The engineer came for a consult, and we set up the job. A few days later, the workers showed up. Respectful, friendly, professional. And, despite having to take up part of a concrete floor and dig a few feet down to pour a cement footing - the place was clean when they were finished. They hung plastic sheets to contain the dust during the job, and cleaned everything within the work area when they were done.

These people were outstanding. They did everything they needed to do and more.

George Nader of StructuralMD was very professional, observant, and informative during his visit. He evaluated the issues of interest, collected relevant historical information, and took measurements to arrive at and confirm his analysis. For the two areas he looked into, he summarized a range of options for possible repairs, and he very clearly presented his analysis and recommendations. He was courteous, easy to communicate with, and well-trained and well-informed in structural engineering. I highly recommend him.

It went very well. They promised it would take 2 days, and it took a little less than two full days. They performed as expected. They ended up using less number of joists as they couldn't install additional joists in the basement because of space constraints, but they lowered a lally column in the basement to level the first floor. And they cleaned up after themselves. Even when we thought there was a leak afterward (because they had to temporarily cut a water pipe), they came the next day to inspect it, but it turned out to be a different issue not related to their work. They ended up charging less money because of the joists that could not be installed. Very happy with the work.
