Air Group

Air Group installed a Generac natural gas standby generator. They have both plumbers and electricians on staff so they were able to do the install in one day. They made good on every promise and the finished result is just as I had hoped. My purchase included a wireless monitor and a cold weather kit, however these items were not available on the day of installation. The reason I mention this is because even though I had paid in full, Air Group still treated me with priority and installed these two items within a week. I was worried that since I had paid in full that they might take their time in getting around to me (as some companies tend to do), but I was happy to see them still treat me as a priority. Also, I had other estimates that were cheaper than Air Group, but I chose to pay a little more for something like this to get it done right. They can be more expensive than others but I believe the extra cost is justified with the level of service they provide.

Alex Fonseca at Air Group was a true pleasure to deal with, walked me though the process of converting to central air, gave us three options in terms of price and quality -- we went with the most energy efficient option whihc was a little pricier. came by on weekends (whihc is rare among contractors but made things so much easier for us), was kind and considerate when it came to scheduling, his team was very considerate of timing around family needs when it came to loud work being done. After first summer with central air, we are thrilled and maintenance so far has been minimal but prompt.

I did estimate for total equipment replacement with Air Group. The sales person was professional and punctual. His estimate was more or less in line with other estimates I got but on the high side. But the reason I did not go with them and I would not suggest them to anybody is as follows: After the estimate was done I noticed their car across the road at my neighbor house. Apparently, she did estimate week before and they just came to do some additional measurements. We all have exactly the same equipment and basement layout (town home community) but her estimate was substantially lower for exactly the same equipment and amount of work. I questioned my estimate with the company and they lowered it somewhat but refused to match it due to "the pricing change"... really, one week later. It was so unprofessional assuming the difference was around $200-300 on $12000 job. I did couple more estimates and found another contractor who did the job, but left with sour feelings about the Air Group.

The quote was free. It had rained and they showed up when our basement had been flooded. So it was kind of difficult, but they were professional and pretty much looked at everything. They got back the quote within a couple of days. It was what I had expected.

We first considered installing a split mini system but because of the layout of our house and low ceilings we opted for central air. The cost was more but the return on the investment should be better when we sell the house. We got two other estimates and air group, even though slightly higher, the presentation came across much better. He know his product and was able to answer all of our questions. It went very well. They arrived at 7:30am on Friday with five guys and quickly started to work. Each man knew what to do and started to do it. They left at 4:30 and left everything very clean. Two guys returned Saturday at 7:30am and finished by 2:00pm. The work was done well and clean. It is working fine. The kitchen area may need some adjustment but we are still in the adjustment stage. Yes we are thinking of considering them, if we convert to gas.

I used them because they had good ratings. My experience with them has been excellent and they know what they are doing.

We were impressed by the professionalism displayed by Air Group employees from start to finish. They came on time, returned phone calls promptly and were a pleasure to deal with consistently. I would recommend them highly.

The installation went great and on schedule. When the system needed some balancing to adjust the amount of cool air delivered to each room they responded the next day. I was impressed with their professionalism and quick response and would recommend Air Group.

I've used them for at least 10 years and I've been very happy with them. It's good service. I have a service contract with them. They get the work done. They come out when I needed an emergency. Some of the people who come, I have seen them repeated times before so I know I could depend on their work. I think the price is probably fair. The quality of work has been excellent. They usually give me a 3, 4 or 5-hour window and they usually make it. They're very professional.

Previous to hiring Air Group, we researched several providers. Air Group was very responsive, showed up on site to inspect the size of the job and also explained different options for Units, Seers and Energy Efficiency. They also provided an estimate in a timely manner. After deciding on hiring Air Group, there was a little back and forth about the location of the unit outdoors, but this was beyond their control as our town has very stringent codes on location. Anyone looking for a specific location for the condenser on their property should check with their town prior to installation or else you may get stuck having to install it in a place where it stands out. The overall installation went very well. Air Group showed up at 7 AM with a full experienced team ready to start the job. They did a preliminary walkthrough and planned the execution. They were very professional, committed, and at the pace they work at you can tell this is what they to do best. They had small crews working on all different parts of the installation. They were also very considerate of our home, by putting down tarp and covers throughout the entry and work areas of the house. They estimated the job to take 2 days but they finished in one. I definitely would recommend Air Group to anyone with an older home who is considering installing central air. Aside from the installation, they also did me a huge favor by helping me carry down an old heavy acrylic tub from the second floor to my garage. I would definitely use them again for another project.

I was very impressed by the entire organization. My first contact was with Carl who came exactly when he said he would. He went through the entire house and evaluated the situations that might arise during installation (old house), explained where the ducting would go, etc. The crew arrived on time and on the day that they were supposed to. Each and every member of the crew was respectful, competent and efficient. It took two full days to do the major work. The most important thing is following up on the details such as hiding a duct that could not go through a closet, adapting some doors in the attic, etc. To say that the experience of having your house being torn apart and returned to a finished state was a great experience sums up my high regard for this company.

Air Group may not have been the least expensive choice, but you can't beat their customer service! When you call, you will always reach a live person or if not, someone will pick up within a minute. Their sales person was not only very knowledgeable, but had incredible patience with my hundreds of questions. Their installers (and everyone else) were professional, polite, friendly, neat (used drop clothes and wore shoe covers to protect my carpet and cleaned up and removed all waste) and responsive. They even came back and fixed a leak that developed after the fact in one of the old pipes leading to the new pipework without charge. I would definately recommend them!

They were very personable. They came when they said they would come. They did the work pretty fast. They damaged the new carpet tile that I had put down, and they said that they will help defray the cost for that. It hasn't happened yet, but they were pretty responsive when I complained.

They were good. The review on the list matched up my experience.

The sales representative was prompt in returning my call, answering my questions, and providing a quote. The quote was higher than one a competitor provided, but in the end we went with Air Group because we knew they had successfully installed a similar boiler for a neighbor. (The previous boiler that was present when we purchased our home had been a repair nightmare.) The installation team came promptly at the appointed time, put down drop cloths from our front door to the work site, was courteous and answered all my questions, efficiently installed the boiler, and cleaned up after the work was finished. The sales representative followed up with me on my satisfaction with the work and also provided me with the work permit and contact information for the appropriate city office to schedule inspections (electrical and plumbing) of the work. The boiler passed the inspections and, to date, has been working well. I am very satisfied with Air Group's performance on this project.

They are very very nice people. They were great and they were able to diagnose the problem and fix it without having to replace the entire unit. So, they really saved us like thousands of dollars. Apparently we had some kind of a leak that is why the unit was not cooling and staying cool. They were able to take away the piece that was leaking and replaced it. We also have some kind of warranty that they gave us with that. Regarding responsiveness I would give them an "A," because we were like desperate as it was really really hot.

My call for service was promptly attended to. The cost of total service I believe is fair. I didn't have any problem through the process of installation thru the completion of the job. I will use them again.

It is thanks to Jim Moore and The Air Group that we are Finally comfortable in our home on this 8 degree morning, and we will be nice and cool this summer in the heat waves. I cannot begin to express my gratitude to Jim Moore our sales rep. He has been such a pleasure to deal with in this very costly, large home renovation project. He has been patient, take the time to answer all questions about every part of the contract, and helped us secure the appropriate state grants, and loan to make this undertaking happen; all with a warm smile! We are done with the Installation of both heating systems. There is still AC work to be completed once the snow melts, and insulation work will happen next week by a different Air Group team. On the morning they began the work they had 7 trucks parked in our driveway and down our street. Their must have been more than 10 people involved in this project that day. They worked liked a well oil machine, fast, efficent, professional, and CLEAN! Our sales rep. Jim Moore has been on the jobsite everyday popping in and out, in addition to always being completely available by phone. He has put up with my non stop barage of questions, and then will re explain everything to my wife when she comes home from work as if he never spoke to me. There might be less expensive companies out there, but do you really know what you are getting? The reason we decided to go with Jim and The Air Group was word of mouth, the angies list reviews, and finally I had a conversation with Jim about his tenier of more than 25 years at this company. His lenght of service made me realize that he was not trying to undersell me to make his bid come in lower. Jim has listened to our needs as family and our budget. I realized that other "Reputable" companies were using scare tactics to try to close the deal.

On a few occasions, our heater had blown cold air instead of hot air. Each time we had called another heating service, and each time they diagnosed the problem as a broken sensor. Finally we called Air Group, because they were so highly rated, to see if there was a more underlying issue. It turns out there was: the gas pressure was too high, resulting in the repeatedly broken sensors. Ivan was professional, punctual, and friendly, and walked me through the specific problems carefully and in terms I understood. They also email their receipts and use a card on file to avoid too much paperwork. My one piece of criticism is that I originally had tried to make an appointment online, but did not hear back for a few days. I finally called instead and everything went smoothly. While the online reservation feature is attractive in theory, I recommend prospective customers call for a more punctual service.

The Air Group team ( 6 trucks with staff) came at 7:30 in the morning as promised and were done by 3:30 that afternoon. Because were expecting a snow storm, we thought they might cancel, but they said they could work in any weather and they did. By the time they left, the outside temp was 16 degrees and we had 6+ inches of snow and more to come. The house nver got cold enough to be an issue despite the outside weather. Our house does not have any outside access to the basement. They had to come in via the garage, through a sun room (tiled), then the family room (new hardwood) and down into a finished basement (carpet) before entering the furnace room. They laid down runners and mats on all surfaces. Despite the soot in the old ductwork and oil furnaces, the only dirt left after they swept up was some near the new furnace that was less then I expected. A quick vacumn upstairs and a wash of the cement floor near the old furnaces was all that was required. We passed both the elecrical and plumbing inspections with no issues and now have a quieter, more efficient furnace with new clean ductwork that takes up less space than the 2 oil furances. As part of their reworking/replacing existing ductwork with less bends and curves, we now have better airflow to an area of the house that was always cold. Before hiing Air Group, we went to 3 other HVAC companies, 2 smaller and 1 comparible to Air Group.The smaller companies while cheaper offerred less energy efficient furnaces, or left off items like the air cleaner form their inital qoutes. The larger company had some good solutions but they were not as quick to respond to questions and follow up during the quoting process. They also only offerred a 2 year warrenty, while Air Group offers a 5 on the installation. They also did not have as large of an after sale service/maintance department and did not guarantee a 1 day installation. In the end, with all quotes in, for the same furnaces, etc. Air Group, with a better warranty and large install and service staff, was only around $1K more than their best competitor. The decision was easy to make, with Air Group being the best option.

#Air Group has failed us. Without finishing the project completely, they billed me. Then I could not even reach the sales person to find out what was going on. I had to take my time to track them down after numerous emails and calls to discuss the project before paying. And they clearly will nickel and dime you and promise things, but then back out of those promises. They did an okay job with adding dampers and duct work (on the second try), but when they promised to fix our whole house humidifier they have been to the house numerous times and cannot seem to fix it. And then they turned around and said it wasn't part of the original project! Every time we ask if we should get a new one, they say no, and then it does not work. They even charged me an extra $100 for a new part when I find whole units online for just over $100! Now they want to charge us ANOTHER $129.00 for ANOTHER appointment when having this thing function was part of the original $5,500 I paid. I will not use them again. They clearly do not care about the customer and are not responsive. Why can't they fix this? Expertise seems to be lacking. Other concerns we raised during the project were not addressed because the sales person was not there doing the work and the workers showed up without the work plan and the whole thing was executed poorly. Although we are content with the results from the dampers, the experience was subpar. I used to think I see their trucks around town a lot because they were popular, but now I know it is because they are constantly trying to fix their own work with repeat appointments. We told them we would be going with a different company in the future and they didn't even care. Customer is #2 for Air group.

They're a very good company. I've used them multiple times. Someone else referred them. They make good appointments. They keep their appointments. They don't seem to have a high mark up on anything. They're labor costs are very reasonable. They do a very thorough job. Their price is competitive. They've done a good job. We're gonna need a new furnace so they're probably gonna get the job.

The owner did not have carbon monoxide alarms. Carl from Air Group arrived a few hours after I called for an estimate and he explained the details very clear. There was no short cuts, it was straight forward what needed to be done and he had an estimate of the work needed within four hours. A few days later, they installed a new furnace and a new A/C coil and they provided us with a free carbon monoxide detector. The price was right, considering the circumstances. No doubt in my mind, I will refer Carl and his staff without hesitating. Thank you guys. Job well done.
