Air Group

From the scheduling of the appointment for the estimate to the completion of the work, all went well. The tech sales rep came within a week of my call for the est appt - he was on time, friendly, knowledgeable, not pushy; he left me brochures, showed me names & addresses of work done by Air Group in my area. He returned within a week to drop off the est, which included 3 choices, info about Air Group the company, and the Air Group workers who would do the work. He called a week later to follow up on whether I had decided, which I hadn't because I was waiting on a few other estimates. None of the 4 other estimates I got were as prompt, complete or followed up - although they all were less expensive. I was leaning toward Air Group when I checked Angie's List which had favorable reviews which helped decide on Air Group. The work was scheduled within 2 weeks for a 2 day installation. The tech rep came with the workers, on time as scheduled, to introduce them. The installers who worked all day for the 2 days, were courteous, cleaned up each day, and when finished, showed me the attic duct work, the inside and outside AC units, and explained how they worked. Later on that evening, I got a call from the tech sales rep, asking if I was satisfied, and to tell me he would forward the necessary paperwork about the rebates...which he did. I was satisfied with my choice of contractor and the AC is running fine.

Very good experience overall. One person was responsible for decommisioning the system, instaling ducts & vents, and re-commissioning the system. Another team of guys came into clean the system.

We live in a house that was built in the early 70's and our central AC system was not cooling properly. We had Air Group come in to check the system and they found mold in the air handler blower and told us there was a leak in the system. The ducting was also the old fiberglass tubing that needed to be replaced. We received 3 bids and we have worked with Air Group in the past, so we gave them a "last look" at the pricing. We purchased the highest efficiency Carrier 4-ton Infinity series two-speed compressor (model 24ANA148)with a variable speed air handler (model FE-006). We also purchased the Carrier Infinity digital thermostat and an Aprilaire model 2210 hepa-style high efficiency air purifier. Since we purchased a high efficiency (17.3 SEER) system we qualified for a $1,500 federal energy rebate, plus a $900 rebate from Carrier, and lastly $150 rebate from PSE&G. All of the rebates dramatically reduced the price of the system down from $12,455. The Air Group sales person and installation team were very professional and neat. They showed up on time and completed all the work in one day. I am very satisfied with the system and qaulity of work from Air Group. I would not hesitate to use them again and recommend them to my friends and family.

I am very satisfied with the work performed by Air Group. They arrived promptly and worked very efficiently. I was surprised at how quiet and unobtrusive they were, considering that there were at least six workers in and around the house. Each man had his part of the installation to accomplish; they did it quickly and neatly and the job was finished in one day. At the end of the day, the foreman explained the system, the thermostat, and the fact that a technician would come to make any adjustments that I deemed necessary once the cooling season starts. Everything went just as the sales representative Joe C. said it would. They are also taking care of the paperwork for two rebates and I am happy that the system will qualify for a stimulus package rebate from the U.S. government during the next tax season.

I had a fire in my furnace and I had to have the entire system redone. I think that they are very expensive, but well worth it. They came out two days after we called them. They came in and ripped everything out and re-installed everything. The whole job took about two days. They were very clean and I think that they did a very good job.

Installation went smoothly. Arrived as scheduled and performed the work quickly and with minimum of mess. No problems with the unit.

First visit charged $125/hr for diagnosis. 2nd visit fixed dampers (parts @ $50.) given estimate of $437, asked office for parts and labor break down and made appointment, never got breakdown. Realistic parts/labor break down was $125 hour labor and $50 parts. Tried to charge $437. When I called the manager he charged for my time QUESTIONING THE BILL WHICH ADDED $150 plus tax, their office did not give break down yet, they charged for telephone questioning.

Excellent. Air Group exceeded our expectations at every level. They were prompt, responsive and attentive to detail(e.g. wearing 'booties' while walking in the main part of the house, through clean-up). When determining the cost, they identified all of the rebates we were eligible for, and assisted us in completing the forms. We will recommend them without hesitation.

They took the time to determine the size of systems we needed and offered a variety of options (in terms of energy efficiency and price) to choose from. They did the work while we were on vacation, they did a great job cleaning up and left no messes. Everything is working well.

I'm very satisfied with their work. What they quoted with price and time frame was accurate with what they did. I would recommend them to others. They were great.

We have been very happy with them. They are very honest and straight forward about what we need done and what we don't. They do what they are supposed to.

The sales person we dealt with was very knowledgeable and patient. We wanted a system that would be able to keep the humidity down even when the temperature wasn't that hot outside, and he was able to get us a system to do exactly that for a reasonable price. He came on the morning of the installation and made sure the folks who would be doing the installation were aware of what was to be done. Their brochure says they'll take good care of your house, which I'd sort of dismissed - every contractor says that - but they went beyond what most people have done in the past - they didn't use those little door mat style rugs that a lot of folks do, but rather half inch thick rubber floor pads. And they had a number of smaller ones that they laid down on each and every stair tread so even the stairway was protected. The actual workers doing the installation showed good attention to detail - a small hole they'd drilled in a wall adjacent to a register which I'd noticed the first evening had been patched when they finished up the second day. Some contractors would have assumed the homeowner wouldn't notice such a small detail, or would forget about it, or need to be asked by the homeowner to fix it, but Air Group was really on the ball and did it without my even mentioning it. After the installation, it wasn't warm enough outside for them to balance the airflow between the different rooms. They said they'd come back and do that when it was warm enough outside that we could leave the system on for 5 hours. Scheduling that appointment was easy and painless, and we now have a system that we're really happy with.

They were fantastic. The came in and were timely. They worked efficiently. Cleaned up after they left. They may have left the house cleaner than it was. He gave good suggestions and worked with us and our home. And the price was reasonable.

Air Group exceeded our expectations in every way. While their price was competitive, they were chosen for their perceived technical competence and willingness to position the attic equipment and ducts in a way that left the majority of space in the attic available for storage. This was less convenient for the installers, but the company did not hesitate for a minute in promising to comply with our wishes. Work did not begin until the salesman arrived to show the crew what was to be done. Installation took about seven hours. The installers (about 12) were skilled and courteous. Before leaving, they cleaned up what little dust they created. Two days after the installation, the outside temperature reached 95 degrees. The system performed flawlessly. It is so quiet that the only way to tell whether it is running is to put your hand near a duct. Because of their skill in positioning the ducts, there are no drafts and no hot spots anywhere in the house.

System was installed on time at quoted cost. Only very minor issues with the install: Something was knocked over in the attic after I had offered to move it; at least one of the ducts wasn't properly sealed at the ceiling (allowing occasional tufts of cellulose insulation to find their way into the room); and one duct was placed in a poor location in a closet. If I had paid closer attention however, I am sure these things wouldn't have happened. The system works perfectly, and I would use them again.

They will be up front and let us know they are not the most affordable out there, but the quality was definitely worth it. I thought they did a wonderful job. They took time to talk to us and listened to our needs and wants. They showed up on time and made sure everything was wrapped up on time. Overall an excellent service.

Our air conditioning wasn't functioning so we called our usual repair company who came four times, charged us over $1500, before telling us that the main unit needed to be replaced (they did fully refund our money). Air Group came in, correctly assessed the situation, dealt with what some other vendors said were un-dealable circumstances (our basement ceiling is low and the heating unit is tall leaving little space for duct work). Other vendors suggested replacing a 6 year old furnace at significant expense. They fixed all the other problems that their predecessor had caused, and then they fixed a few other things that hadn't been done yet, all for the originally quoted price. Everyone was extremely professional, too.

I felt very confident with this company. The salesperson was also the project manager. He came out first and did all the measuring and prep work. He was very knowledgeable and efficient. The workers were very neat and cleaned up after themselves.

Very less than satisfied for the cost. Poor duct work lay out. Too much flex conduit used, with multiple air flow restrictions points. Have to self repair their work. No interest to work on air quality add-ons like whole house ventilators, and humidification. Long delay in installation date (however, during Summer Time). Malfunction of Carrier air handling system occurred after installation. I felt it was very necessary to withhold final payment to ensure final completion of work.
