Description of Work: Atticare examined my attic and said there were mouse droppings and they would have to clear the attic down to the wood floor and then treat it before installing insulation. I said I would consider it. Later they called and said they did not have to remove everything and would install insulation over what was there now for a much lesser price than the one first proposed. Very unprofessional!

The team that came were on time and worked very hard. I had no problem with them. The problem was the price. Angie's list stated $149 for services worth $500. Ha ha what a scam. I know I probably needed a little extra done BUT $5900 and they didn't even take the $149 off. I am not sure of actual date that the came. A little Leary to do business with Angie again.

This was made clear when he found out I was a realtor and then he seemed to back track and was then dropping the price of the additional costs.

Description of Work: I used an Angie's List special for the attic inspection. They came to do the inspection of my attic --dressed in a full white protective gear, mask, and footies, and before even looking at it, asked if I was having respiratory problems. I was hoping that they would also clean out the mice droppings for the additional fee noted in the ad. Instead, I believe their entire intent was to just upsell their full service for replacing all attic insulation. They made it sound like it was a huge environmental problem that needed to be fixed right away because it was such a health hazard. The price came down from their original quotation of about $7-8k down to about $4k if I acted immediately (had it done later that week because miraculously they happened to have an opening). They said the job would take about 1/2 day with a full team. That alone is a big alarm bell. When they followed up later and I told them I was getting another quote, they cautioned me against using a regular contractor since they wouldn't know what they were doing. As it turns out, I went with my regular contractor and did replace the attic insulation with R30 insulation rather than the blown in stuff they were going to do. My contractor with 2 men, took 4 days to complete at a cost of $4200 but did quite a bit more work. They built up the rafters so that they would hold thicker insulation and put plywood by the attic stairs to make it easier to store stuff.

Description of Work: Initially Shay came out to do an attic inspection. He was very professional and patient, showed and explained to me everything I needed to know. Unfortunately my suspicions were confirmed when I found out there was mold in my attic and it would have to be treated and the insulation would have to be replaced. We set up a time and the crew arrived as scheduled and worked efficiently. I was kept informed and showed the work being done. They cleaned up after themselves.

Description of Work: We used a coupon from Angie's list to have our attic evaluated. Attic Care determined that we had some mold starting to grow on the insulation. They showed us pictures of the mold and stated it had not started to grow on the rafters, which was a good thing. We explained to them that it was very warm and humid in the attic this winter, despite how cold it was outside. They determined the attic was not properly vented. They installed a solar attic fan to help with air flow. They then removed the insulation, sanitized the attic, removed a black ant nest (YUCK) and blew in new insulation. They were very good about not creating a mess. All the insulation was removed in bags and taken away. They even came out on a Sunday to do the job. It took them approximately 5-6 hours to take care of everything. We are pleased with their work. The true test will come when winter arrives. Then we will be better able to judge how effective the fan and new insulation is.

Description of Work: I had the old insulation removed and replaced,along with supposed rodent proofing. Nothing was done in the basement as I was told they would regarding rodent proofing. I was told by one of the technicians that I should buy some materials at home depot and do it myself. Not cool when you are paying $3000. The hatch cover was damaged and temporarily repaired with tape, instead of replacing as they should have, considering they broke it. After the service I found six roofing nails left in my driveway which clearly came from the attic. If I didn't find them first I could have had a few flat tires.

Description of Work: I hired Atticare to put up (1) an attic radiant barrier (2) for blow in insulation and (3) clean up the and seal the attic. Overall they did a superb job. There was a little initial mix-up in my understanding of the promotional offer they gave on Angie's List. The price and the contemplated service was not what was quoted. That's why I gave them a B on the price. But I gave them an overall A because their service and work was excellent. They had me scheduled and completed immediately. Work was great. Crew was professional. Clean-up after the work was outstanding. This more than made up for the initial confusion with the Angie's List promotional. Thanks.
