They service was just ok because they estimate they gave us for all the work we needed was fine but more than we wanted to pay. So they just did the work to seal the house from rodents. I was not impressed with the seal work they did as it was not very good quality and it was overpriced.

They were very good and did a nice job. I was quite satisfied with them. They did a lot of work and it was completed in one day. We ended up getting squirrels in our attic after the service and they guarantee the attic will be squirrel free so they came back to address the issue.
Description of Work: We have a very large home including a large attic and basement. They cleaned out the attic removing the old insulation, removing any squirrel droppings, disinfecting the attic, removing old tubing for our air conditioning unit and installed new vents and tubing for air conditioning unit. They also removed and treated the insulation around our basement.

The initial saleperson arrived early after calling to make arrangements to change the time of the appointment. He went up into our attic, took pictures, and took measurements. He then explained what needed to be done while showing me the pictures of the attic and the moldy insallation. He gave an estimate of about $7,500.00, but he noted it may be less based upon the type of insallation we wanted. He called a couple of times to arrange for a date because a day opened up in advance. On December 26, 2014, the salesperson called to tell us the workers were on their way. Then the supervising workman called and confirmed he was 15 minutes away. The four workers arrived on time and immediately began working by removing and bagging the debris. They also placed plastic on the floor and stairs between the attic ladder and the front door. Unfortunately, the plastic kept loosening on the stairs. The workmen were very careful going up and down the stairs with the plastic on the stairs. The supervising worker then spoke to us and informed us that Home Depot would be delivering the installation at noon and that he needed to take the debris away and would return within the hour. Just as he said, Home Depot arrived right at noon, and he returned. After he returned, the workers broke for a thirty minute lunch. After lunch they returned to the attic and began removing the old insallation. Thereafter, they vacuumed the attic, placed a treatment solution on the boards within the attic, plugged all little holes, and installed the new insallation. The four workers worked from 9:00 am until after 6:00 pm. They were all busy during that time. Towards the end, the supervising worker contacted the business owner, and the workers left. About twenty minutes later the owner arrived and inspected the work. He took pictures of the attic and advised us to contact him to get the before and after pictures for our insurance company for a "mold" claim. We were charged less than the original estimate.
Description of Work: Cleaned debris from attic; removed moldy insallation; and installed new installation. Also plugged all the little holes to prevent mice from entering the attic

I hired Atticare after talking to a friend in New Jersey and I must say Im very pleased with the Job! I had a big squirrel issue for years and I probably spent over $2000 on exterminators coming every month and putting traps in my attic. Atticare came with a different solution - They removed my contaminated insulation, sanitize with bleach and then blocked all the entree points so the squirrel wont be able to get back in. The Technician Ronnie and the project manager Elvin were on top of every little detail and gave me updates on each finished part of the project. The guys worked around 8-9 hours they were very respectful to my home and clean after them when done. Here are some of the little things that made my experience even batter:- Got a text message with pictures of before and after when the project was done.- Got a phone call from the technician 2 days after the job was done asking me about my experience.- Guys put plastic all over my floor to protect and keep it clean.- Project manager called me 40 Min before arrival so I can get ready I was not happy with the price I got but taking all the facts I know now in to consideration Its 100% worth it!You might be able to find a cheaper company but every company I was talking to could not do the entire project, some do only insulation and some just the cleaning non of them offer sanitation to get rid of the animal smell I dont hear noises from the attic no more and therefore I defiantly will recommend Atticare to anyone with a similar problem.

The previous comments posted were inaccurately communicated by the phone reviewer and posted without my review. Therefore, Atticare?s response does not address the issues. See my clarifications to some of the issues below: Atticare's preparation for the job was not appropriate damaging newly painted hallway walls to the attic; The job was rushed leaving the attic stairs and hallway messy; The insulation thickness was not leveled and less than the agreed R30 (currently less than R19-R5). I complained verbally and in email to inform Atticare of their poor job and they did not use the right among bags to do R30. Low number of bags is lower insulation. There is blown fiberglass on and around recess lights and wiring and an air duct was torn; I now need to remove the existing insulation installed by Atticare in order to properly air seal and install baffles. I have rashes and am itchy from the fiberglass. I am requesting a refund, so that I can have the job done properly. UPDATE: There were four men brought to the site and I observed 2 men in the car most of the time. We had two independent inspections from other companies, shortly after the job by Atticare was completed and following our complaint to Atticare. Both companies have confirmed that the current insulation is not R-30. The materials to be used were not communicated to me. This is the first time I am learning that commercial material L77 was used. I also called Owens Corning and they stated that there are additional additives in the commercial material. They stated that the key is not how many bags were used for square footage for coverage but it is important on how thick it is based on the R value measurement. The insulation in my attic installed by Atticare is not equivalent to R-30. I did not receive any agreement that indicated air sealant or baffles are not mandatory nor were there any agreement presented to me indicating that both have additional costs. The attic should never be insulated without thorough air sealing and baffles. Without the proper air sealant and baffles, this can cause further future damage to my attic (ie. potential rotting). It was my understanding that this was inclusive with the insulation. Furthermore, this was not explained otherwise. Now the insulation is everywhere and to do the job properly it will be very a lot harder and costly. This needs to be done properly. Atticare did not offer any other option other than blown-in fiberglass. Due to my high sensitivity to the material installed by Atticare and impact to my health, fiberglass is not the best option and I will need to have the material in my attic carefully removed and the insulation redone properly with a safer material for me. I first tried to work with Atticare to come back to correct the job, but through discussions in-person, via phone call and emails, I realized Atticare did not perform important critical steps in their job (including air sealing and installing baffles) and customer service (non-responsive to email). Air sealing and baffles would have been best to do before the blown-in- insulation was put into the attic. This was not done. With respect to Rodent Proofing, a can a spray foam was used, which was not listed among the materials to be used on the worksheet. Empty can was left laying around in the attic. 1 small bottle of bleach (approx. size of 16 oz ) was brought into the attic, it wasn't clear how the sanitation was completed. Insulation contract should include all proper steps including air sealing and baffles, not just for blown-in insulation material, especially when Atticare is charging such high price of $4539.00. The blown-in material is the easiest part and it was not even installed according to agreed R-30. As a result of all the damages and the inconvenience this has caused, $1000.00 is not enough to address the problem, especially with the job now being 10x harder to address and at more cost. I am requesting a full refund from Atticare.

I am sorry you feel that way but I can assure you the job was not rushed, we even brought in an additional worker because we knew there was a lot of work to be done in your attic. Either way, just as we mentioned when you first contacted us we would be happy to fix any minor damages that were created due to our services. When we left your home the insulation level was 10.25" which is R-30. As we discussed over the phone, the nature of the material you chose to use (blown insulation) is to settle with time. We offered you to come again and blow more insulation and upgrade your level to R-38 for no additional charge, and had a crew ready for the date we discussed, but you ended up canceling at the last minute (you said you were leaving for 2 weeks). The insulation was not leveled because the attic floor is not leveled. This is very common and is perfectly fine as long as we maintain the overall value. We are using commercial grade material called L77- each bag covers about 100SQF. Your attic apace is 1140SQF and we used 12 bags which is the correct amount of material. You think we didn't use enough bags because you saw we did not use all the material we brought with us, however we always bring extra material to projects just in case we will need to use more than expected. You didn't hire us to do air sealing or installing baffles, those services are not mandatory and have additional costs. Please refer to our agreement. We can only recommend the best insulation to use based on our experience; however you were the one to choose the blown insulation. We have been using the same material for years and never had a problem before. The Owens Corning blown insulation we used is sold directly to consumers at home depot, Lowe's and its an Eco friendly, green product. We had no way to know that you would be sensitive to that material. As a growing company, customer experience is the most important for us, I was trying to communicate with you numerous times and offer you different alternatives that will make you happy but at this point I understand there is nothing I can do to change how you feel. Therefore, I would like to offer you a partial refund on the amount of $1000 to compensate for your overall experience, If you choose to accept this refund you will agree to remove your review from Angie's list and we can both consider this case as closed. Looking again on our agreement, We did do everything we were hired to do: 1. Insulation removal 2. Rodent proofing 3. Sanitation 4. Adding new insulation

Joe and Steven came to blow in insulation in the crawlspace. They took the old bat insulation out, sanitized the wood and then attached a thick plastic barrier to the underside of the beams. Then they blew in insulation. They put old bricks, that I had, in the ground along the opening so animals won't dig under the lattice/plywood panel anymore. They did everything I wanted and more. They were very accomodating and so friendly. They even did a quick little side project for me. I definitely would used them again and will refer them to all my friends. Thanks Atticare!
Description of Work: I needed under my former front porch, (now TV room), insulated. The crawlspace had bat insulation put in many, many years ago and it needed to be replaced.

Overall, I am very happy with the work that was done by Atticare. They were fast and efficient with attic cleanup and insulation. The reason I gave them a "B" on Price is because, they initially gave me a price quote of $4758, which I thought was high considering my attic space. Ultimately, we settled at $3250, which looked to be a more reasonable price quote. So bear in mind you do have a lot of wiggle room, when negotiating a good price for your attic cleanup project. The reason I gave them a "C" on Responsiveness is because, when leaving my home after finishing up the project, one of their equipment made a small dent in the wall, and as a result I will have to patch that area and touch it up with paint. They should be more careful when bringing in and taking our their equipment.
Description of Work: - Remove old insulation in the attic and do a complete vacuum sweep of the attic floor. - Seal any penetrations or openings with expanding foam insulation to prevent any rodents from coming into the attic. - Lightly sanitize the attic with bleach chemical. - Finally, re-insulate the attic with blown in R30 insulation.

I contacted them to inspect my attic -- to see if there were any leaks, rodents and to further let me know if there was need for any extra insulation to be added. He inspected the attic, took pictures and assured me there was no need to place more insulation. The insulation that was there had been moved so he placed the insulation where it was supposed to be and took a before and after picture. Since there was not need to do anything, there was no charge. I appreciated his honesty. I would definitely highly recommend Atticare to anyone interested.
