Keith was AMAZING. We met with him early in the year, because we were on a strict time frame of when the job could be completed. He started the job as he promised, and his team is fantastic. I've heard so many stories of nightmare contractors and Keith is not that - he really takes pride in what he does, as does everyone who works with him. My husband has terrible allergies, and we were worried about all the dust that would come from the various elements of building additions to the house for the 2 bathrooms. Keith sealed us in air tight and really kept the rest of our home in great shape while everyone was working. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND Built-Well.

We found this guy on Angies list and were hoping for a good experience. We live in a nice house in a nice middle class neighborhood and need a complete kitchen redo from top to bottom so I called and left Keith a message. 5 days went buy after that and we heard absolutely no response back whatsoever. So I tried calling a second time and 'Keith' himself answers the phone, he listened to my brief explanation of the work we need done, and in a not so friendly voice he told me to call right back and leave him a voice mail, he was very abrupt. So I immediately called back leaving all of the usual info on his voice mail such as phone number, address, name etc. and again a brief explanation of the work we need done. Again 4 or 5 more days go buy and again we heard absolutely nothing back from this guy. So on Sunday July 20th my Husband tries to call and Keith himself personally picks up and speaks to my Husband. Together my husband and Keith arrange an appointment for Keith to come discuss options and give us an estimate and 'Keith' never bothers to show up at our house & never even bothers to give us the courtesy to call us to let us know he isn't going to come. We were shocked at this type of treatment. We didn't eat dinner waiting for him, and wasted the time we had set aside to meet with him. We've never been treated so badly by any one else before.

Excellent quality of workmanship. Contractor was easy to get along with and extremely professional. Very accommodating to changes in the original building plan and work schedule, which reduced the inconvenience of living in a building under construction. Provided valuable information on design and materials.

Build took approximately 6 months. We had an independent architect who laid out the overall spec. There were many issues with his plans which were inaccurate and faulty. If it wasn't for Keith Hessman of Builtwell the suggested changes by the architect would have caused unsafe results. Where the architect is supposed to protect the home owner against the builder, the opposite was true in this case. Builtwell and its assigned sub-contractors were completely professional, honest, reputable and trustworthy. Builtwell cares and it shows in their results and more importantly their follow-up long after the work is finished. My build was approximately 9 years ago and I still reach out whenever I have a problem. Keith is always willing to help tend to the issue. He truly stands behind his work even if its long after the fact. There is no one else I would call or consider to provide any contractual service to my house. We recently had him install an over the stove microwave. As always completely satisfied! I could have had Lowes install but chose to go with the one I trust implicitly. I strongly recommend Builtwell to anyone looking for a contractor. I recommended him to a family member who did a complete Kitchen re-do and she was completely satisfied with the work and price. He truly is the best out there and his work during and after surely speak itself.

We purchased a 1938 home that had not been renovated since the mid 1950's. The place was an estate and had been badly neglected for several years and had sat empty for the past two years. While we knew it was a major undertaking our good friends and neighbors had recently done a similar gut renovation two doors down with Built-Well and raved about Keith, the head contractor and owner. When getting bids for our job we were astounded by how many contractors would only do portions of our renovation or gave us bids 30% over Built-Well's. Keith came over, walked the house with us and asked for our wish list of everything we wanted done. He phoned me a few days later with a fair and reasonable bid and the breakdown of allowances for things like kitchen cabinets, tiles, fixtures etc. Though Keith had a kitchen designer (whom I loved and chose to work with) I was not pressured to shop anywhere he had wholesale/contractor discounts. Both my husband and I felt that Keith was honest, trustworthy, and just plain easy to work with - we took the plunge and the whole gut renovation began. From start to finish Keith and his crew were fantastic - they showed up when they said they would, completed what they said they would and always came back if I needed or wanted additional work done. Each team from plumbing to electric to siding was professional and courteous not to mention friendly. Admittedly, I was a pushy, hands on and demanding client but Keith handled my project with a smile at all times. All of our friends warned us to expect the job to take twice as long and to be over budget but Built-Well did just the opposite - we were done a month early - yes a MONTH early!!! And on budget!!! The quality of work done and manner in which it was performed were A+ all around and I wholeheartedly recommend Keith and the whole team from Built-Well to anyone doing a home renovation.

We are a bit 'picky' about having things done right, so it took us a few months of research to choose Keith and his crew. We are so glad we did. Keith's professionalism and responsiveness are unsurpassed. The job was to remodel our kitchen, including moving the doorway for better work-flow and installing a 5' bay window. He also remodelled our bath, which is now furnished with a custom-built dual medicine cabinet that Kieth himself made. Kieth worked with us to come up with a custom cabinet above our refrigerator. An odd ceiling angle intruded where the cabinet would be. Angling one door and connecting it to the other via piano-hinge gave us full access to the space above. Our attention-to-detail led to a long punch-list, to which Keith remedied all our concerns. He, his designer and crew are excellent at their trade and we couldn't be happier to have chosen Built-Well. The work went very well and our estimate is what we paid, plus reasonable cost for any changes we added along the way. His mason, electrician, tiler, designer and the whole crew were great. All the rave reviews are spot on!!

My home remodel started long before I met Keith from Built-Well Builders. We had been working with another builder but decided to fire him before the job ever got off the ground. I found Built-Well on Angies list and was very impressed with his rave reviews. After speaking with his charming wife Lisa, Keith returned my call the next day. After meeting with us and discussing our wants and needs, Keith continued to work countless hours on planning and budgeting our project. This took several months. Keith always answered my calls or called back within a day, as he continued to do, throughout the entire job. I was very surprized to read the review about keith not returning phone calls because I know that he prides himself on communication and professionalism. Keith did a great job staying on budget, however we did incur some extra costs of our own, but Keith was very fair with costs. All of Keith's sub-contractors were great and have worked with him for a very long time. It's also a family-run business and family would jump in whenever needed. Keith takes alot of pride in his work and is a dignified proffesional which I can't say for most in this profession. He is a pleasure to work with and went above and beyond to make us happy. He continues to respond to all my calls even though the job is finished. I wouldn't consider using anybody else for any future projects. Keith truely built my dream home and I am very greatful to him and his family.

This was a very small job - the aluminum fascia on one corner of my home had come loose and needed to be reattached. Also, a section of vinyl siding had been damaged by a fallen tree branch. Built Well came to my home on time as promised and had the repair fixed good as new in less than an hour. Keith, the owner, and his team were neat and professional and found time to complete my repair in a timely manner. Highly recommend Built Well for any job you may have large or small.

I had heard rave reviews about Keith from many friends, moms at school, etc. We had him quote on redoing both of our bathrooms, including expanding one. We worked out all the details and had a signed contract. He was supposed to start work in mid-January, which then turned into late January. I called several times asking for an update and never heard back. It is now May, and we are about to begin this work with another contractor. I believe that he got a "bigger" job with a complete knockdown/rebuild in another part of River Edge, which is why he could no longer do our job. The courteous thing to do would have been to call us, instead of leaving us scrambling to find someone else. Definitely could not recommend his services.

I have a 90 year old house and a demanding wife. Keith dealt with both very well. He and his guys are real craftsmen---they answered every question, made invaluable suggestions and were very attentive. they did what they said they would, on time, on budget---can't ask for more than that. i will definitely use Keith again in the future.

Keith had a lot to juggle with our small job due to the horrible weather - snow, freezing temperatures, etc. The one thing I have to commend Keith on is his immediate responses to my calls and emails. He always kept me informed through a difficult scheduling period for both of us. He handled the last minute changes I made without complaint and got the job finished to my satisfaction.

Built Well did the work in exactly the way we had discussed with Keith Hessman, and on time. All the work was done by Keith's people, except for the garage door and roofing (which he had told us at the outset would be outsourced to someone he had worked with many times). All the work was done expertly, and the house looks great. The price was lower than most of the other contractors we spoke with, too. In addition, Keith was very responsive to questions, and flexible when we changed our minds about a few options we had discussed initially with him. We will definitely give Built Well a call when we're ready to tackle another big project.

We received quotes from three contractor's and Built-Well's quote was right in the middle. We are so pleased with the outcome! Keith was there for us every step of the way. He and his sub-contractor's were all so professional. The job was on schedule and the mess was kept to a minimum. Keith's kitchen designer was fantastic and made some great suggestions for the family room as well. We entertain a lot and are so happy each time we hear another compliment. Our bedroom and master bath is now a special retreat for us! We will definitely be using Built-Well again in the future for our basement renovation!

Keith Hessman was great explaining what could be done, and then he did the work. They not only did the work in the contract, but added a few extra items above and beyond our contract adding to the beauty of the room. He is better than having a uncle in the business.

A 115 ft oak tree fell on our house and destroyed it. We had to move out and were told we should expect to be out for at least a year. Built Well Builders were one of 4 recommendations I received and met with. We chose Built Well because Keith showed up on time to talk!! Keith had an estimate for us within 2 days. The price was fair and what we calculated it would take to rebuild. Built Well builders renovated and rebuilt the entire house. Keith and everyone on his team were punctual and never missed a deadline. We had 4 bathrooms gutted and replaced. Hard wood floors all sanded and stained, roof replaced. The house was painted outside and every room inside. Keith responded to every question and phone call right away. We were back in our house in 9 months! We have been through a few renovations and we have never had such a pleasant experience. I highly recommend Built Well Builders for any construction project and would hire them again in a heartbeat!

It was great working with Keith because of his friendly and honest nature. His estimates were timely and pretty accurate, with very few unforeseen expenses when we completed our work. He has been been fairly responsive and he worked hard to get our house move-in ready on time. His crew did a good job too and left the place clean after work. Although there were times when his electrician wasn't very responsive and needed constant follow-ups to get the work done. Overall we are satisfied with his work and would recommend him to my friends.

The contractors were there when scheduled, finished when promised and cleaned up after they were done. All phone calls were returned promptly, all subs were of excellent quality. I would highly recommend this contractor and am doing another project with them shortly. I am extremely happy with the outcome.

I needed work done soon, I will call him in the future when I'm not so pressed for time.

The company and owner, Keith Hessman were excellent. He and his subcontractor's were experienced and knowledgeable in their trades. They worked efficiently and kept the work site and surroundings very clean. The job came out beautifully and any concerns or questions that we had were addressed by Keith immediately and to our full satisfaction. Based upon our experience we highly recommend Keith and his company and they deserve recognition for their excellent performance. We intend to use them on a large kitchen renovation in the next few months. It was a pleasure working with them.

Last year we purchased a fixer upper and decided to completely gut and extend the house. We got several recommendations for General Contractors and combed through Angies list (that's where we found Keith / Built-Well). We bid our project out to six GCs, and they all came back with similar prices, so it came down to personality. We called Keith's references and they all said the same thing - quality workmanship, nice subcontractors, he was on budget and easy to work with. He sounded great. So we went with our gut. Keith's crew was very professional and always willing to please. From the framer to the electrician they were a solid group of guys that always delivered. Given the size of the project, we were always waiting for a zinger to kill the budget or schedule. That never happened. Keith's price was right on the mark and the only extra costs were our extras (like an additional heating zone).If there were any issues Keith was on it immediately. We've heard many horror stories about other contractors, but our experience went smoothly with little to no stress. It was a pleasure working with Keith to build our dream house and we definitely recommend him!

I cannot say enough great things about Keith and his team. My house looks beautiful and just how I imagined. The quality of the work is top notch! They are completely reliable, show up on time, always stay in contact, and do exactly what they promise to do...all on schedule! All this and half the price of what I was quoted from other companies. I can't wait to use them again for my future kitchen addition!

I used Built-Well Builders to renovate my entire kitchen and a bathroom among other interior upgrades. They were a pleasure to work with from start to finish. The job was completed on time and within budget. The contractors Keith used work excellent. Keith and his crew were professional, punctual and very clean. Keith checked in with me almost daily to make sure that I was happy with the progress and to see if I had any questions or concerns. They also work with a great Kitchen Designer who is very reasonably priced. I plan to use Keith and Built-Well for my next project and would recommend them without reservation to anyone

Keith and his associates (including subcontracted electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mason) have done a great job overall on the expansion and improvement of our house. The quality of the workmanship is very good, and Keith is always available, responsive, and flexible, making several mid-stream adjustments as the plans for the project were carried out. His pricing is competitive, and Keith has made the whole experience as pain-free as it could be given the scope of the project. It should be noted that this is the fourth project Keith has performed for us in a span of 12 years (previously, siding and roofing, building a family room with basement space beneath, and gutting and rebuilding a full bath), which speaks for itself in terms of whether we'd consider Keith and Builtwell for additional work. And my wife is delighted with her fantastic new kitchen!
