Paul called to confirm appointment, arrived on schedule and assessed the situation. He determined that we did not need to replace the entire attic dome fan, but only the motor. We have been customers of A-1 for quite a few years. Have called them for minor and major electrical repair work - they are the best - professional, courteous, estimates are very close (price and time). We highly recommend A-1 Electric Co.

We have been using them for years. Ten or twelve years ago they installed a fan in the attic and it was acting up. We had the owner, Paul come out. He was able to fix the problem. We just had a new roof put on last year and we didn't want to take out any of that with all the housing. He was just able to removal the motor and install a new motor. We really like using them. Their motto is no job too small and that is true. Their estimates are spot on. If anyone in our area needs an electrician, he is great. He checked everything to make sure there was no damage. Their price is reasonable considering everything they do. I don't feel like they are expensive. I can't say enough good things about them. He calls me and arrives within the time frame he says he is going to. We have had such bad luck with contractors, when you find someone that is great, you keep them.

Could not have gone better! Office was very professional. In fact I wish Cyndy could train all office staffs in the area. She is phenomenal. Asked what we needed done was very specific in her questions and gave us a price quote that didn't change. Sent an email with a picture of the electrician coming to our home. What a great idea! Greg our electrician was exactly on time, personable, neat and very efficient. It was an absolute pleasure dealing with this company. We will be using them again.

Paul arrived right within the time frame his company gave us, they sent text messaging alerts when we scheduled and also called the day before to offer us an earlier time slot. We stuck with our original time and were so happy to have worked with Paul. The estimate his secretary provided on the phone was accurate and Paul gave us lots of helpful advice as new home owners living in a completely updated 1940s home. He was neat and clean and went above and beyond what was expected. Paul was friendly and talkative, offering explanations of what he was doing and what our options were. We asked him to look at a few future projects and he took the time to give us an estimate. While we have to take some time to budget for the project, we will definitely be calling Paul when we are ready to go ahead!

Was informed they do not service all of Rahway, so this contractor wasn't an option.

Cyndy got my call, explained detail of work on phone and gave me estimate/billing through email. Very happy I did not have to put deposit before project start. Jason on site did roof fan and light replacement. Both Cyndy and Jason were very friendly and profession. It will be the best if the appointment scheduled at exact time like 8AM or 9AM, not at 8 to 9AM.

A-1 Electric does a great job from initial contact all the way through billing. We worked with Cyndy in the office for all the estimates, billing and paperwork, while Paul did the on-site work. Both aspects of our interactions with A-1 were great, so I'll review them separately. Administrative Cyndy responded promptly (even when I didn't - sorry about that!) whether we contacted her by phone or email. Estimates and bills were delivered electronically, with lots of detail and online payment options available. She and Paul seem to work very well together, and that makes things run smoothly. Technical Paul was friendly and professional. I shadowed him for part of the job because I was genuinely curious about what was going on. He took it in stride, and even humored my 3yo daughter when she asked him questions or tried to tell him what to do. Job Specifics The light above our kitchen sink was out. The bulb was good, and I determined that the problem was that the breaker had tripped. When I went to reset it, it immediately tripped again. No other outlets or appliances were out, so it appeared that the breaker only controlled that single light. Paul was able to trace the wiring and identify a short. In the process, he also found a section of cut wire outside that led to the shed. The wire had been damaged when we had a tree removed. We made a follow-up appointment, and Paul took care of that along with some other minor jobs we found around the house. Side note: Shortly before Paul came out for the first time, our bi-fold closet door came off its track. The track was pretty mangled, and I ordered a replacement. Paul noticed the bent track as he was walking down the hall, and bent it back without even asking. It was a good short-term fix that kept the door working smoothly until the new track arrived. I appreciate the sort of person who sees something like that and instinctively fixes it. Bottom line: We've already used A-1 multiple times, and will continue to use and recommend this company.

Both Paul (the electrician) and Cyndy (the administrator) were professional, friendly, helpful, and assumed I had a functioning brain. My city is especially difficult to work with regarding the processing of applications for and issuing of permits, but Cyndy's tenacity and patience.got us the required results. The city's inspector was impressed with the work. Another electrician gave a slightly lower quote but was unwilling to manage the permit process, so not really less expensive since I would have had to use my time, energy, and patience. I was pleased to have been able to conduct most communication via email which is most workable and comfortable for me. [Price includes permit fee.]

Called on Tueday. Jayson was out to scope the job on Wednesday. Estimate arrived Wednesday night by e-mail. Not the cheapest but I felt comfortable with the price and based on other reviews, I felt they were very competent. They were also very local. On Thursday I confirmed I wanted the work performed. On Friday at the appointed hour Jayson and Greg arrived and performed the work in around 4 to five hours. Very professionaly done. Very cleanly done. They were very careful arround the furniture, covering furniture, hardwood floors and oriental rugs as appropriate. While they made practically no mess, what the did make was cleaned up thoroughly as they progressed through the job. No wasted time. They knew what they doing and took pride in quality of workmanship. The most expensive line item was the fan/light. The fan is of excellent quality, properly sized for the bathroom and is very quiet. These were important to both me and my wife. It certainly meets these criteria. I highly recommend A-1 and have already asked them for an estimate to do some additional work. You get what you pay for.

We have a lot of outside lighting and have been trying to get it just right in our backyard for a while now. Paul and his guys did a great job and it looks really nice. The was a big job as we had lights in the front and back that needed to be repaired and/or replaced. A-1 has always done a great job for us no matter how big or small the job is and always go the extra mile. They may not be the least expensive electricians in the area, but they aren't the highest either. For us, we feel you get what you pay for and A-1 has been a great value for us! Everyone is great to work with - we highly recommend!

Tough job due to the small space to work in, but he did a fine job

I had a new light fixtures that needed to be installed in 2 different bathrooms. The tech was able to install the light fixture in my mothers bathroom just fine and he did a good job. In my bathroom he wasn't able to fix the light fixture. It needed to be removed from the mirror and he couldn't do it. They charged me $35 extra but couldn't complete the job.

Good quality service and very responsive. Have used them for several electrical services. Detailed explanations given of work being done while it's in progress, which I appreciate.

I had a line of outlets down in my house for almost a year trying to find someone to fix it. I finally did some research on angie's list and come up with A-1. I told them the problem and over the phone they told me the service could be anywhere from 120 to 370. At this point I just wanted the problem fixed. I asked for an early appointment, but that I didn't want anyone there before 9am. The guy got there early and was waiting in the van for 9am. He diagnosed the problem quickly. Replaced the outlet. The whole job took less than an hour. He told me everything including tax should be 170. The invoice I got in the mail was for 190.00. Since they had given me the range of pricing before I started I was fine with it. I asked to test the outlets before he left...He was pretty confident, but it was something I wanted to and everything worked fine. Knowing what I know now, I would probably shop around for a better price, but they were great to work with and I have no problems with them.

Their work exceeded our expectations. They were neat, efficient, reasonably priced and thorough. Will use them again!

I've been using them for 20 years and they are always professional. They didn't have to change the box and were done a bit quicker than they said so I thought the price was a little steep. However, I was very happy with the work and it was worth the money.

It went well, the electrician was very thorough in checking wiring and switches. He replaced the faulty light switch and also another switch that he felt was going bad. I thought it was pricey, but he was here a long time and really checked everything.

It ended being more expensive than I had originally expected. They were on time and did a great job. The explained everything they did well. The job took a couple of days but overall I was happy.
