The roofing and carpentry work was excellent. We were highly satisfied with the end result. The owner explained everything so clearly. We had 3 estimates but Jorge's presentation was the best, it was clear and comprehensive.

He never checked the wood for what he would replacing,his cost was at least twice as much as other estimates.If he considers himself an expert in wood repair it is clear he is not.I felt he wanted to rip me off.And there were other issues such as protection of the windows which he never addressed.I really felt taken advantage of.

Since contractor post pictures, I wonder If we (consumers) can post pictures as well. I had a Home Inspector evaluate the work that Tico's Carpentry did, he took pictures and documented everything in his 14+page report. I faxed a copy of the report with the pictures to Angie's list resolution. If I can post the photos then I will. What a nightmare............ Take note of all of the D and F responses to the consumer from Tico's Carpentry, do they all sound familiar?

Tico's fixed our leaky dormers two years ago, and just recently the leak reappeared. Jorge came out to see what happened, and turns out his job was fine, but the roof which is 27 years old needs to be replaced. Jorge climbed up onto the roof and took pictures with his iPhone and showed us the areas that needed to be fixed immediately, and later gave me an estimate for a new roof. We also wanted him to replace trim around the chimney, paint the trim around the dormers, and replace other trim. My husband had Jorge bring the trim over so that he could prime and paint it before it went up. Jorge runs a very professional company with "teams" of professionals. The two guys who worked on our house were polite, hard working, and stayed on task. The contract that Jorge drew up the first day delineated exactly what would be done, and when payment would be made during the process. The workers cleaned up after the work was done. We have deferred a new roof until next spring.

The only person who came out and gave me a quote was Jorge Fonseca. He was very prompt, he came as promised but he was a little more expensive than I wanted to spend. He does wood work and carpentry. He seemed very efficient and knew what he was talking about but a little pricey for me. The quote was a little over $5000. I had moved house and I wanted some wood work done in the house. He was very punctual, he came when he said he would come, and he was very professional. I would have gone with him had his price been a little lower. I was looking to spend somewhere in the range of $ 2500 and he was little over $5000. Maybe his price was accurate; it was just that I probably did not have the sense of how much so I decided to completely do something different. Overall I did not get what I wanted.

Prompt. Punctual. Proffessional. EXPENSIVE.

Nice person, but was not helpful to me in the end

We had a pleasant experience from start to finish. Our first encounter was professional and very informative. The estimator, Hugo, was very patient and gave us some alternatives to resovle our roofing issue. He went up on the roof and took pictures to show us where the problem was. We felt confident we made the right decision. The porcess was completed in a day and to our satifaction, as Hugo promised. We will absolutely use Tico's Carpentry for other future projects. They also demonstrated that no job is too small. We highly recommend them.

I was extremely satisfied with every aspect of dealing with Tico's. The office staff were courteous, helpful and extremely prompt in providing information and also with scheduling the estimates and jobs. Alex came to assess the porch and then came back to have the contract signed and take the deposit. Each time there was only a day or so between calling the office and getting someone out. Alex was very friendly and knowledgable. The porch replacement started on July 3rd due to all the rain in my area. The office called and asked if they could work through the 4th of July to complete the job. I was shocked that they would work the holiday and this was absolutely fine with my husband and me. The crew showed up promptly at 8am. Alex accompanied them and introduced them to me and explained how the days would go and the hours the team would be around. I was so impressed with the men that performed the work. In the first day they tore off the old porch, cut all the wood for the new porch, built the porch and stained it. They worked straight through the horrible heat and finished around 3:30. They completely cleaned up after themselves and let me know they'd be back at 8am the following day and what they needed to do to finish the job completely. Arriving promptly at 8am again the following day they completed the job in a few hours and it looks amazing. Tico's is one of the most professional companies I've ever worked with. I would use them again without hesitation and would recommend them to anyone looking for carpenters. We couldn't be happier with the service or the finished product.

My garage was hit by a falling tree during Hurricane Sandy. After drama with the insurance company and lots of paperwork I was finally ready to start repairs. The garage had been twisted on the right side, causing the carport door to be inoperable. There was roof damage as well. Since the roof was slate the weight of it was also an issue. Alex Prado of Tico's Construction came to meet with me about the job a few weeks before. He was courteous and PUNCTUAL. My time is very valuable to me so this was a huge plus in my book. We discussed the job and how I wanted things done. The one thing that stuck out in my mind over other contractors was that he was confident they could straighten out the garage. Other contractors used the words "try" and "best effort", so being confident in the work being done was a huge weight off my shoulders. We scheduled the work to start as soon as the permits were clear. Alex came to my house on the first day of work and stopped in on the second (final) day to address any issues I had with the job being done. I had one small concern that one wall was not as straight as I thought it would be. His team addressed the issue by jacking the wall into place, fixing the issue. Cleanup didn't start until the second day because the dumpster was late. Everything was piled up neatly on a tarp. After my garage was fixed, they did an EXCELLENT job cleaning up. Outside was spotless. I saw the carpenters walking around literally inspecting my grass for the smallest bits of debris picking them up by hand. The inside of my garage was left cleaner than it was before the job. This had me impressed. The contract said "Estimate does not include any garage door repair or replacing" This was also verbally made clear several times. They realigned the door and the sensors anyway, and when the job was done the garage door was fully functional. This had me most impressed, and added the WOW factor for me. I recommend this company 100%.

MaplewoodAfter calling the contractor that his sub had no tools, he stepped in and oversaw some of the work. Not worth the experience, though the roof is still there.

Everything from initially speaking with Jessica, to working with Alex and his team was excellent. My calls were answered, and responded to quickly and professionally. Alex came to do the quote on time, and was very easy to work with. The team who did the work arrived on time, and did a great job and cleaned up following the work completion. I was extremely satisfied with their services, and will be working with them again in the near future.

I asked them to take a look at my roof because I had something wrong with my roof. After they did the repairs on my roof, there are still something wrong with my roof and they told me that there’s nothing wrong with their work. I asked them to come over again and they checked the roof again. I asked another guy to check my roof and they said I did something wrong to fix my roof. I think in the carpentry industry, they should know how to fix it. I wasted some money without putting something to fix the problem. They seem to be okay but they didn’t fix the problem. They were right on schedule. I was trying to call them about the problem but they are not returning my call.

They came out and gave an estimate, but I asked for a detailed description and sketch twice, but ignored my requests. I then gave the job to someone else b/c lack of response and asked them to quote just the shed assembly and they gave a very high price and I asked to re-think their price and they did not respond.

The services were provided in a most satisfactory manner and the work product was excellent. Portions of wood underneath the roof also had to be replaced before the roof could be completed. The job was completed within the time promised.

Excellent. The work was professionally done. The intricate molding was cut perfectly, and replicates exactly the woodwork that existed there previously. Appointments were always kept, and work was performed on time. Highly professional and a pleasure to work with.

It was a snap. I found the company on Angie's List, a contractor came by and left me an estimate and we scheduled the work for the following week. I only needed a repair to a gutter damaged in Hurricane Sandy but they informed me that one side of our house was completely missing a gutter. We had no idea (and wondered why our inspector didn't point this out when we bought the house!). We were thankful to have them find this issue so we hired them to add the new gutter. It was a seamless process. They did the repair while we were at work which was convenient for us and everything was satisfactory. Price was definitely reasonable. I would hire them again.

I had initially submitted an excellent.Initial review. Now I see that the carpentry work was very good, but they used low grade lumber. Staining was a problem, and got a splinter in in my hand using the banister. They did not complete a small item I had asked for, bracing the deck around a tree growing through the deck. Basically, they are good carpenters, but you need to keep on top of them. When I emailed to to complain, they did not return my my communication.

I would highly recommend them. They were very professional, very neat and did a clean job. They did a job where they put in one piece of gutter and I was very impressed the way they handled it. They fitted in on to the other gutters very well. They were very courteous. The price I thought was fair.

they did a fantastic job on the gutter. Their people were very knowledgeable, fast and cleaned up after themseflves. we had some issues with timing,them arriving earlier than planned and I had to rush back to house from doing my errands. Also scheduling was a slight pain but Other than that it went very well. I will use them again for future projects.

Tico's showed up on time for the estimate. They provided me with an assessment of what work should be done. Other contractors had suggested more work than was necessary. The company was very clear with exactly what materials would be used and the rationale for their suggested repair work. The repair work is excellent. I'm most impressed with the professionalism, honesty, and quality of work that was provided by Tico's.

We decided not to get the work done.

Communication with Jorge, his crew and office were good. I was home while the work was being done but think that communication would have been good even if I hadn't been there. Jorge came by the house to inspect the progress and advise as needed. His pricing is quite fair. His crew left the work site clean. The job took longer than anticipated but that was largely due to bad winter weather. I would use Tico's again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.
