We got a good quote and they gave us a good quote. We decided not to go with them for other reasons because of the discount that somebody else gave us a coupon. They were professional, they did a good job, and they gave us a reasonable quote. They showed up when they say they are going to show up and being informative, measuring the job. The quote was a good quote; we just decided to go a different way with it.

I would not give them flying grades. There was a delay on the start date; they said it was because of the weather but I did not kind of agree with that. One thing that has annoyed me till date is that they put one of my white vinyl fences against the tree and I specifically remember asking the installer if the tree is going to grow into that fence and pop it up. His response was that even if the tree grows into it, the fence will be strong enough when the tree will grow but that did not turn out to be the case. About three years after they installed it, they did not come out to replace it so I had to have it done. When they showed up, I told them that they had to remove a couple of tree limbs and I knew they were not too happy to do that but that was part of the agreement. Their price was decent; it was right in the middle compared to the other two or three companies that had come out.

Install went great. I got several estimates from the top people on Angie's list and their price was the best which I was somewhat surprised at. I had a 4x6 platform built with a staircase going down on both sides. Both sides had railings that they matched to my existing fence for a unified look. They worked around my patio guys and installed footings first, hen came back the as soon as that project was done to finish the job. Guys worked hard and all day to finish the project in two days and cleaned up well afterwards. Overall, I'm happy with the experience.

They came in with a good layout recommendation and price. They were very available and easy to work with. They offered a gated archway vs straight at no extra charge as it was in stock and available for immediate installation with the rest of the job. The fence was installed in the cold- and through the snow- in one day. They adapted easily and quickly as they were working due to an unexpected and last minute change in the layout.

The fence looks ok, however the crew did not get the job done in a timely manner and we had to leave for a prior engagement before the team was finished and the work could be inspected. It was dark when we left so an inspection really couldn't have been done. When we were able to inspect, there were holes left where the previous fence post were dug up, which have gotten worse with time. In addition, minor damage was done to the deck. Also, drainage pipe, from down spout, which was covered prior to the new fence was complete exposed. Carl's did come out afterwards and covered the drainage pipe and fixed some of the holes in the back, but again did not do a good inspection and there are still holes out in the front. By comparison, my neighbor had the same fence put in about a week or so after I did, by a different vendor, and you cannot even tell that a new fence had gone in, the lawn around the post and under the fence look as if it has been in place for years. Whereas it was extremely obvious that work had been done on my fence, not only are there still holes where the old posts were dug up but there were piles of dirt left everywhere. And when I pointed these out, was told that they will eventually wash away. The above information obviously relates to the crew that does the job, so if one decides to use Carl's be sure to do a really good inspection after the work is done. The office staff I dealt with was progressional, however this is all for naught as months later I am still not happy with the work that was done and would never use this company for any other service. I was going to give them a second chance and have them (Carl's) possibly do work on my front porch, someone did come out to take a look, but I never received an estimate and there was no follow-up.

The workers were very good. My back yard is big and they did the work in a day. They kind of worked with me. I had to wait months for them to come here to do the work. When I worked with the sales guy months before I picked a style of fence based on what I understood him to be telling me, but it ended up being a fence which my dogs could walk through even though the whole purpose of the fence was to keep the dogs in.

Excellent project - start to finish! They worked in the rain, snow and polar vortex! Everyone from Carl's was professional and skilled.

They were wonderful. The guy who came and gave us an estimate was very friendly and very prompt. He actually was a good deal for us because he has done work in the area. When the actual workers came, they did a wonderful job. Everything was done in one day. They also cleaned up after themselves and they were very friendly. The original guy who first came and gave us the estimate actually followed us up and to see if the job was done and made sure that we were satisfied.

The company did all the work in one day. They worked til after 7pm and got there before 10. The cost was more than we wanted to pay, but it was certainly worth it. One of the associates of the company actually came to meet me over 75 miles away from the office while I was on a weekend getaway with my wife to show me samples and discuss the project.

Work well done. They were professional and the work done was excellent. I would recommend them to other people.

They did a great job. We were told 6 weeks for materials in November, received the fence in 6 weeks. Mike Resi was great when he came in for an estimate, he had samples of the fences. We received another estimate from another company and they tried to talk us out of what we wanted (colored vinyl fencing). Mike did the opposite he showed us options. Other company also said they dont do work dec/jan, the earliest install date was late winter. Install date 3 workers came on time, and finished in 7 hours or so. Fence looks great! We will def keep Carl's fencing in mind for other needs.

Great looking and functional fence. I was amazed at how efficiently the fence was erected without disrupting my lawn or any underground piping and wires.

I didn't wind up using them but during the estimate process, they were fine. I just got a better deal through the other guy. He came out, showed up when he was supposed to and he was on time. He was easy to get in touch with. I had no complaints but somebody else was cheaper. I also didn't like that they required me to be home to show them where the fence went on the day of installation.

Work was performed on the scheduled date. Was informed that the crew would be here between 8:00 am and 10:00 am. They arrived closer to 10:00 am. Said there was traffic delays. All work was completed by 5:00 pm and the yard was cleared of any left over debris. Gentleman in charge walked me around the job so that I could inspect the work.

The fence is beautiful. They do good work. I believe we received good value for the money.

everyone was professional. all details were discussed prior to building. workers were always on time and worked all day. even worked in the rain so that it would be done for Christmas. now waiting to schedule to have fence replace by them. highly recommend them!!

First, they were highly recommended by Angie's List. I did get three estimates and Carl's was the most competitive. Once I decided on Carl's, they called me within a week to schedule an installation date. They arrived in the communicated time on that date on a rainy day. They started quickly and were forced to suspend for 1 1/2 hrs due to moderate rain. Once the rain had passed they got back into it quickly. The project team arrived at approx 9:45 and finished cleanup at 7:15pm. Now...this was a big fencing job and I was surprised that they could pull it off, not just in one day - but the last 2 1/2 hrs. in the dark with flashlights and my outdoor lights. Once they finished and hauled away the giant trash-heap of the old fence, there was an immediate difference. It looked like an almost new property. They did do the "lunch menu" thing with me and paid for it themselves, but only took about a 1/2 hr break. The next day my salesman, Mike, came by to check the job and put the finishing touches on the clothesline. So far, I've had six neighbors specifically stop over to give great comments on the job.

Overall, I rated Carl's a B and I'll explain each of the ratings. We put up about 318 feet of fencing around our backyard for security and privacy including knocking down and old fence (about 118') of our neighbor's that was on our property. The sales process was fine. I took bids from 3 firms and Carl's wasn't the cheapest but within the ballpark. They'll admit that. They won't be the most expensive or the cheapest but it seemed fair. John was the name of our sales person and he was very friendly and took the time to explain our options so I'd consider the sales process an A. Only, a couple of "issues". My wife and I felt John was a bit young even though he said he was doing it for a long time. That will come up later as potential issue but that didn't have any major negative effect on the sales processes. He had some strong opinions about what was a good fit. Not pushy, like he was forcing us to go a certain way but yet, strong in opinion, in a friendly way. We ultimately went with our gut and NOT the choice he recommended which was fine. So, don't rush into it. Look around your neighborhood and town to see what fence styles you really like in a real setting. Then go with your instinct as you have to live with it for years. We did and we love the style. They estimated a date of about 8 weeks from signing but ended up available in about 5 weeks. So far, so good. In the end, they put up the fence in about 2 days and it looks great so from that perspective, it was a good job which is why I rated the Quality as A. I was told that the crew would get there around 9:30AM but on both days came a bit later. In the end, they did the job in the estimated time so its not the end of the world but I rated them a B in punctuality. Here's where it went a little south. First thing. A good firm makes sure that their crew can feed themselves. You can always offer to get lunch but should never be expected. Both days, they asked for a menu, asked us to call for take out and seemed like they expected us to pay. This really ticked off my wife and annoyed me a bit. Not the end of the world but it got a bit messy after that. I stated at home the first day and they did about 60% of the job, and the hardest parts. The 2nd day, I went to work and my wife was around. Near the end of the project, they accidentally hit a downspout drainpipe under a bed as they were putting up the final posts for the gate. The contract states that it is our responsibility if we didn't warn them but that wasn't the issue. My wife reported that the lead guy was very rude and abrupt. Basically said something happened, its our issue and what do we want them to do? He was very rude. I called John to find out what was going on and overall it was not handled well. John was acting like the relationship manager but they are based out of Toms River and not local so he had to handle everything by phone. He swore that the lead guy has had no complaints and like a pussycat and maybe it was language thing. I'll go with my wife on this as I spoke to him many times and it wasn't a language thing. I trust her impressions. During the process, we had a little misunderstanding with our neighbor and I felt that the lead guy was annoyed by the issue so I can see potentially curt and unfriendliness in his mannerisms. I told John to call the crew at the home and sort out what can be done and to call me back. Then I rushed home. I called John again to see what he had found out. He hadn't called the crew at my home but called the "foreman" or the "job manager" and he supposedly spoke to the crew. Too disorganized. Also, they should have stopped once they hit the drain pipe and asked what I wanted to do or waited until I got home. They just continued with the job and put up the gate. I guess they wanted to get out of there. I had my landscaper do the drain pipe repairs and he agreed that 1) they should have waited to see what I wanted to do 2) many times, they don't treat the woman of the house the same as the "man". I've seen that before with mechanics and other contractors. I don't have proof but its a possibility why my wife had a worse experience with them, than I did. And John was a good sales person but not the best manager of the job. Maybe its due to his experience? Someone who has been doing it a long time has had to have experienced easy and hard jobs and knows how to handle bad situations very professionally. A less experienced person may have run 20 easy jobs but potentially no hard ones. Just a theory. If it was a firm that I would rate an A, once that incident occurred, they should have called John to report it and to figure out what to do (not bug my wife). John or a rep, should have called me and given me the chance to rush home and resolve it or sort it out over the phone with options. To cap the whole thing off, they forgot two caps for the gate posts but they did come by a couple of days later to put it in on. Next time, I'd consider a more local firm or even a smaller shop where you know the people installing the fence, where the owner is the foreman, etc. So there is a clearer line of accountability. So good work but when something went bad, didn't handle it as well. If you go with them, I'd recommend staying at home until the job is done and potentially, not use if you foresee any challenges.

we called Carl's Fencing (located them on Angie's List). they sent out a gentleman that measured and provided a price quote. the price was reasonable. the guy was personable and professional. the salesman scheduled an installation date. the team of workers arrived around 10:00 am. they did. good job installing the fence, cleaned up, you would have never known they were there. we are very happy with the service.
