AJ Perri

I was happy with AJ Perri Inc Company. They came when they said they were going to come. They were very professional. My impression of them was that they were very honest and ethical. I would use them in future if need arose.

They did a good job fixing it. However, their pricing system was appalling. The price turned out to be fair because they had to put a camera through the line to find the problem. I did some of the work that they wanted to do. At the end of the day, it was good work for a fair price, and they were timely. However, with their pricing system, I would've paid about twice what I ended up paying for the same work. For someone who is not handy or unknowledgeable, the work can become very pricey. I brought in an advertisement that drain unclogging was $99 regardless of what drain, but the price ended up being $500. I can understand why because they had to cut out a whole section of pipe and replace it. They said that it was an exotic problem. Frankly, I wouldn't use them again because their pricing system is designed to maximize what they end up charging. They come in and give you an all-inclusive price. They also throw in free diagnostics. They knew what they were doing.

They were very professional. We were very satisfied with their work. I would use them again with out hesitation.

I chose them based on price and I had faith that they seemed to know what they were doing. They offered good products and the price was good. The furnace itself is great but they damaged and stained my carpet. They basically made a mess and they came back twice to resolve it. They didn't give me a hard time. The guy came in and said that it was unacceptable and sent people to take care of.

They're very, very thorough. They're very good. They have very good workers, they're very punctual. They came to my house and one of their salesman came. I actually received it in the mail, one of their advertisements and they came right over and made a presentation on Sunday because I work every other day.

Gilson & Sons installed the original air conditioning system in our new house in 1989. Every year since then we have had an annual maintenance agreement with them to service the AC and the electronic air cleaner. They are always polite, punctual, and never try to push an unneeded repair where it is not warranted. The cost for the yearly AC agreement actually decreased from what it was in 2008. We have been very happy with their service and that's why we have kept them coming back for 21 years!

The price was probably a little bit high, but it was an emergency situation. They had to move the unit out. They did a good job.

They were very good and professional. They were a little expensive.

I recently bought a new home and the heating was not turned on. Not realizing that I only had to turn on a valve, I called AJ Perri. To their credit, the person arrived on time. Their service charge is around $90 and if any repairs are carried out then the service charge is waived off. The heating guy immediately fixed the problem by turning on the valve. I requested him to turn on the boiler and the fireplace as well. To my surprise, he asked for an additional $110 for the boiler and I did not even bother asking him about the fireplace. Given he had already made it to my house and was charging me $90 or so, the least he could do was spend another 5-10 minutes explaining to me how things work.

I did not choose A J Perri. I choose one of the other heating and A/C contractors.

Drain was clogged. AJ Perri rep was very punctual and professional. I was very grateful he was able to snake the drain, and get the water flowing in our kitchen again. I have five boys in the house, so the service was invaluable. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

Went down to the basement one day to find the water heater leaking and called my Home Warranty company who promptly sent in two men to look at it. They advised replacement, but they did not inspire any confidence in me and I wouldn't let them change a gasket in my house --forget a water heater. Called AJ Perri and a technician came in, looked at the water heater and gave me a quote. Researched for a couple of days and decided to go with them even though they weren't the cheapest. On the day of installation, however, the new technician gave me another quote (!!) , about $300 more than the original quote showing me the List Price. After informing him that I had been quoted a lower price earlier and that he was free to check with his office, he relented and did the job. All in all, a good job, but was left wondering as to the sanctity of their "List Price". Would check prices around, before getting a bigger job done.

No service was performed as I felt that the quote was much higher compared to other companies for the same product.

Their price was excessively high so I did not have them fix the broken wire. I was not happy with the service. I would not use them again. I thought they were trying to take advantage of me.

They are on the pricey side but they are good. They were very professional. They came and took their time. Left the place very nice. The only thing at fault is that when they got the permits for the town the town wasn't ready to do the inspection. Only this week is the town coming to inspect and it is 2 months later.

No problems. The technician was very knowledgeable and Perri charges fixed prices for repairs so there were no unpleasant surprises.

One of the condensers on my 15-year old dual-zone Rheem system finally bit the dust. AJ Perri had been doing a fine job of servicing the aging condensers and furnaces, so we felt comfortable talking to them about the replacement. We settled upon a zoned Carrier Infinity setup (one condenser (5-ton), one furnace (120k btu), with actuator controlled dampers for two zones). The setup was pricey -- but knowing that this would be an investment that would pay dividends in comfort over the next 15-years, we went forward. We scheduled the work to be done while out of town on vacation, August 26, 2010. We returned to what appeared to be a very neatly installed new furnace and A/C, though we did notice that we were lacking a "smart sensor" (the ability to change the temperature from the second floor). Excited to fire up our new system, we were greeted with a chorus, of whistling. A service tech was dispatched to the house to rectify the sensor issue and the whistling. Initially, he'd come out without the sensor, and commented that he thought our ductwork was too small for the amount of air that was being pushed. After some time the sensor was delivered to the house, but of course we still had the whistling issue. The head tech suggested a barometric bypass be installed to cut some of the excess air pressure in hopes of taming the noise. After several phone calls and a visit to their facility, a tech (who'd also commented on the undersized duct work) was dispatched to install the bypass, and ? still the whistling persisted. The install crew came out, installed a larger plenum and bigger ductwork extending about 12-feet back from the furnace, and removed the barometric bypass. This did quite a lot to quiet the system. Finally, our A/C was performing admirably and very quietly. The first cold morning we fired-up our heat upstairs, the whistling returned. The head tech came to our house and adjusted some of the setup parameters of our system in an attempt to quiet the noisiness when high-heat was being supplied to one zone only. The furnace was set not to exceed "medium" fire, thus eliminating the high-heat noise. This worked to a significant extent, but there was still some hint of whistling, and I felt like I was not getting the full-range of staging from new system. The install crew came out and sized up part of our ductwork and our zone damper/actuators yet again. Finally the noise went away. Hoping to improve upon the performance of my system with my now quieter ductwork, I restored the full-range of furnace (low, medium, high) staging to my furnace. Finally, I could get high heat without the loudest whistling! Just a little bit of whistling was left. But, In light of the amount we'd paid for the system, I was not satisfied with even the small amount of noise that was left. The installers came and swapped out the 120k furnace with a 100k furnace (a careful load calc revealed that even an 80k might have worked, but we set back our furnace quite a bit at night and the extra oomph is good for recovery). I think we've finally cracked the code. The heat seems to be working well. It's extremely quiet. Most of the time you don't even know it's on. The temperature in the house is constant... not the hot-cold-hot, etc. we'd been accustomed to from our older furnaces. The process certainly took longer than I'd have liked, but A.J. Perri was willing to work on the system (all included in the original price) until it was "right" -- albeit with a fair amount of feedback/persistence/behest on our part. Also, they've issued a partial refund due to the smaller furnace and protracted length of time required to get everything working to our satisfaction. UPDATE - HERE WE GO AGAIN. Our A/C in the upstairs zone was shutting off in the middle of the night and showing an error code - "possible frozen coil". We are now going on 4 visits from AJ Perri - and after tinkering with the settings during the first three visits and telling us that the unit will not function at a temperature lower than 68 degrees (we like it cold upstairs) - we still got the same error code. The last visit included the Carrier technician, who changed the settings once again (no more error code) and proceeded to recreate the same whistling problem it took AJ Perri 5 months to fix. Now we have a relatively new AC unit that cannot cool the house as we had desired when the unit was sold to us, AND a constant whistling sound running through the house every night. UPDATE November 2011: In May 2010, After 9 incredibly frustrating months, A.J. Perri swapped out our zoned system with two separate 60k furnace and two AC units (2 ton downstairs / 2.5 ton upstairs). System now appears to be working as it should have from the get go. Seems to be working well now. AC did a pretty good job all summer without a single hiccup ... and love how quiet the units are. The staged heating is so much more comfortable than our old setup and you don't even really know it's on most of the time. I really wish this had all been done sooner. The months of phone calls, follow-ups, uninformed tech visits, ductwork monkey-business, not to mention lack of air conditioning was incredibly unpleasant.

I have been a customer of A.J. Perri's for a few years now, and I'm very satisfied with the work they do. Also, they are very efficient and clean; the quality of their work is superb.

Had a good feeling when I made the appointment. The staff on the phone was professional and courteous. I was told that they would be there between 12:00 and 2:00. The plumber did not arrive until 3:00. I had 3 different projects that needed to be worked on - A leaky bathroom sink, a leaky toilet and a kitchen faucet. The Bathroom sink was first. I was told that it would be a very involved procedure since it was a pedestal sink and that besides, why would I want to replace the leaky one with the one I purchased since it was of inferior quality to what "they sell". But, perhaps they could fix my existing one. OK, on to that toilet. Looks like an easy fix but he didn't have the bolt needed to fix it. It would need to be ordered. Strike two. Now mind you, when I scheduled my appointment in the morning, i was told that they have everything they need on their truck. Next up, my Kitchen faucet. He said it was loose and could be tightened but that would only be a temporary fix. He had a similar model and could replace it for only $631 + tax!! and the cartridge on the bathroom sink would be and additional $298 + tax!! Almost $1000 for a new kitchen faucet and a small fix on the other sink and he still couldn't fix my toilet. After we refused, there suddenly was a call to "The Boss" and the cost on the Cartridge came down to $133 but the Faucet held firm at $631. We again declined. I know that Plumbing work is expensive but I have also coordinated renovations of many bathrooms and kitchens in the past and felt that I was being gouged. I did call and explain my displeasure to the company and to their credit, they offered to send someone else to quote the job and even offered to refund for the sales call. I declined both. I told the management that I will be taking my business elsewhere.

I did not choose them - I just went with a more local company. There really wasn?t anything negative about them. They were friendly and professional. If I remember right, they actually had the best price. The other company was basically a block away and the price difference wasn?t that much, so I decided to go with them. I would consider using them in the future.

The representative was informative, professional and courteous. However we did not contract this company to do the work as we found their estimate to be quite a bit higher than 2 other companies that also provided us with estimates for the same work using the same replacement boiler.

AJ Perri did an outstanding job. Two weeks before the scheduled installation, AJ brought window units to my house to make certain we had cooling during the summer heat. The installation team arrived exactly on time at 0730am, worked through the day, and resolved all issues before they left the site. The project manager called twice to get a status. These were AJ employees not a subcontractor. The price is probably above average, but if you want a zero hassle professional installation and experience, these are the people in which to work.

quote only....and what a quote ~$10,000 for the smallest a/c unit possible to cool a small space. I went with a smaller firm for less....yes, less than half the price. AJ was very professional, prompt, etc. but not competitive. II even received a follow up call to check on the pomptness, thoroughness, cleanlines, etc. of the salesman. I heard a radio ad for them recently....glad I'm not paying for that.
