My family and I bought a house in August 2023. When we moved in, the central air in the house was perfect downstairs but upstairs did not get any cold or hot air in two rooms. My family went to Home Depot to see if they could help us in this situation. We are first-time homeowners so we have no experience on how to deal with these types of problems. When my family went to Home Depot, they contracted AJ Perri to take care of us. AJ Perri sent an engineer and he stated that the temperature was different upstairs and downstairs because the unit was oversized and that the thermostat was turning off because downstairs was reaching the temperature that it was set at. The engineer stated that we needed a new unit that was smaller to accommodate the size of the house and a thermostat on each floor and he quoted us $11,500 for the new unit. We went along with it and the installation happened on September 19th, 2023. Once they finished the installation, we noticed there wasn’t a thermostat upstairs. We asked the installation crew why they didn’t put the thermostat upstairs and they responded that they had no idea about it and didn’t receive any instructions for it. We gave it a day to see if the new unit fixed the issue and nothing changed. We called AJ Perri telling them the new unit doesn’t work still. When the technician came, he said the unit was never the issue and that the ducts in the house were the issue. The instillation department called us a few days later and they said the only solution was a ductless system upstairs in each room. At this point, we were a couple of months into this situation and we asked for a return of the old unit. We did not want the ductless unit in each room. On October 19th, 2023, they installed the three ductless units. To no one’s surprise, this did not fix the situation. AJ Perri sent another technician again and this time he said that everything worked perfectly fine. They would start ignoring our calls. We contacted Home Depot once again to tell them that AJ Perri changed the units and that the air still doesn’t work upstairs. We then received a call from Mr. Frank Carbo from the quality assurance department of AJ Perri. He been in our house back and forth for about 6 months, closing vents and ruining the air flow in the house. After his visits some areas around the house stopped getting air due to him closing vents. We go back to Home Depot and tell them we need a refund and our old unit back so we can contact another contractor. Home Depot then sent out Andrew Gamatko, the operations manager at AJ Perri. He told us that the unit they installed was never working and they would replace it and if it does not work, we would get a refund. He was so sure that he was going to fix the problem that he gave us his number and email so if anything went wrong. After some time, the air stopped getting better and returned to the old ways so we called him. Mr. Gamatko gave us two options; to get a refund or to hire a contractor to change the duct layout in the house and they will take care of everything else. We kindly accepted the refund because we were asking for it for months. Mr. Gamatko said okay and told us someone would call us to process the refund. On May 16th, 2024, we received a call from a lady by the name of Kelly Giola. She told us that AJ Perri had a meeting about us and they will refund us but we need to fill out a form online. She gave us a website and told us if we had any issues to call her or go to Home Depot. The website was not working and there was no way to claim the refund online. The next day we tried contacting Ms. Giola but she ignored our calls and no way we could reach her. We went to Home Depot to see how we could claim the money and they were so defensive on the whole case. The installation manager, Mr. Owen, came to speak to us. When we were explaining the whole thing to him his reaction was “AJ Perri does great work for my home and they are our best friends. There has to be a mistake.” When he said this, it clicked to us that they would do everything in their power to not give us a refund. We have exhausted all the resources that we have and are just completely fed up with this whole situation. We have been almost a year going back and forth with AJ Perri and Home Depot. All we want is the refund that they have accepted and granted us. Once we spoke to Mr. Owen at Home Depot, we knew we were dealing with extremely unprofessional companies that only care about the money in their pockets. I am writing this review to try to warn people to not make the same mistake that we did. If you are a first-time homeowner, please do yourself the favor and go with a different contractor. Please do your research on the company beforehand but I will save you time. Even if you have to pay a little extra money to go with a different contractor, please do it. It is not worth the headache of dealing with unprofessional and unreliable people.

I set up an appointment for a quote for a new central air unit for my second floor. I was told that a person would come between 12 and 4 on a Monday and that I would receive a call when the person was on their way. I rearranged my work schedule to be home for this appointment. I stepped away from my phone for two minutes and missed a call. The person did NOT leave a voicemail and never called a second time. I saw the missed call but was not going to call a random number back considering all of the spam calls that I get. Obviously, if a voicemail was left, I would have called back. I was called at 2:00 pm by someone at the office indicating that someone had been trying to get in touch with me and that because I didn't pick up my phone, they decided not to come to my house and that I would need to reschedule the appointment. Calling ONE time and not leaving a voicemail in NO way equates to actually trying to confirm that I was at home. I received no explanation for why the individual failed to do their job and was not even given an apology for being inconvenienced. Horrible customer service. ZERO STARS.

I am extremely disappointed customer of AJ Perri’s. I had AJ Perri install my home air-conditioning, that stopped working twice while in warranty, the latest being 6/26. I called customer service and was given an appointment on 7/6, I had to endure extreme weather conditions for these ten days . On my scheduled appointment, no technician showed up and their dispatch bluntly said "No technicians are available" and rescheduled me for 7/17. On calling customer service again to request them to advance my appointment , I was told that I was not on their schedule and the earliest availability for someone to investigate is 7/22. I was also told multiple times that a Manager would call me asap and I am still waiting for that call. I cannot hire other technicians as my warranty would be void. I had to buy a portable AC and have my entire family in one room. My locality is on a heat wave advisory (the thermostat reads 96) and my house feels like a furnace. I tried appealing to their humanity and literally begged them to send someone sooner but they wont budge. I am at AJ Perri's mercy but you still have a choice.

They cancelled on me twice and then wanted to charge me $2900 just to add 8lbs of 410a refrigerant which they can get 25 lbs of for $339 so under an hour labor and their profit is $2716. AJ Perri in the business of ripping people off.

This past weekend I had a bad experience. The short story is that an A. J. Perri technician diagnosed my furnace problem and wrote me an estimate for $1,600, parts and labor. It turns out my furnace had a different problem that required no parts and only 15 minutes of labor. Here are the details: This past Saturday my furnace stopped heating my home. I called A.J. Perri and they sent out a technician on Sunday morning. The tech ran some checks and concluded that my “inducer assembly” had to be replaced. Parts and installation would be $1,600. He said someone from the office would contact me on Monday and let me know when they could have the part. He also said that he couldn't be certain that there weren't other issues that wouldn't be found until the inducer was repaired. After the technician left I did some searching on the Internet. YouTube and Reddit were especially helpful. I discovered that the problem was that the condensate drain was clogged and water had backed up into the inducer assembly. The water prevented the pressure switches from detecting that the inducer was running and this prevented the furnace from starting. When I disconnected the condensate hose *2 quarts* of water drained out of the inducer assembly! This water was supposed to drain into a small pump unit on the floor that sends collected water to the sump. Over the years mold and algae had clogged the condensate trap and caused the backup. I disconnected all the hoses and removed the trap. I blew out the trap (making a mess) and confirmed that water would easily flow through it. I put it all back together and the furnace is working fine. The sad lesson here is that you can’t always rely on supposed experts. The good news is that the Internet can be your friend. Even more details: The original symptom was that the furnace would start up, the inducer motor would run for about 20 seconds and then it would shut off. This cycle would repeat every few minutes. Every few hours the furnace completed the startup cycle and then I’d get heat. Then it would stop heating for hours, and the indoor temperature would drop to the low 60s. What I learned from YouTube is that there are multiple stages for furnace startup. The inducer motor spins a cage that sucks in fresh air for combustion, and then pushes the hot gases through the heat exchanger and out the flue. Each stage in the startup has safety checks. The furnace will not ignite if the pressure sensors don’t detect that the inducer motor is working properly. Water is a byproduct of the combustion. It starts as a vapor but then condenses in the flue pipe and drains back to the inducer assembly, where it’s supposed to run through a hose to a pump that sends it over to my basement sump. The furnace is 14 years old. Apparently that’s long enough for mold and algae to clog the condensate trap and cause water to back up into the inducer. The 2 qts of water blocked the pressure sensor switches and so the furnace wouldn’t light. Final thoughts: For over 14 years I've had great experiences with A.J. Perri. They replaced my home’s original furnace and Air Conditioner units. They moved our outside A/C unit to the side of our house so we could have more quiet in the backyard. I had them come for periodic heating and A/C maintenance checkups. My impression is that they might cost a bit more, but they were reliable. I'm saddened that I need to post such a negative review.

Last night I called for a service call. Yet, I can't even give this company a one star. I called them and the only thing they did was showed up. The $135 service call was a joke. This representitive gave me an estimate of $3700.00 to fix broken parts of my unit and "might take more than a week to get the parts." Then he recommended that the unit be replaced and called a sales person that he came here in 1 hour to sell me an $11,000 unit. The Representitve was very excited for me to sign and get this started but when I said, "I have to discuss it, I don't just go by 1 persons opinion." He commented " I thought that you were in an emergency because of the winter and cold weather coming." On his way out the door he said that, " I wasted his time and should have cancelled the appointment." The next day I had another local company, A-1 Comfort Care HVAC, came over at the crack of dawn to look at my unit. It took Frank about 10 min. to look at my unit and he simply lit the pilot light. And the unit is now up and running. I showed Frank the estimate that AJ Perri gave me to fix it, and the estimate to replace the whole unit. Frank, experienced in HVAC, said that the things they listed to be broke was not broken at all for $3700.00 and did not at all need to be replaced for $11,000.00 . Had I been an elderly person and afraid of being without heat, they 100% committed fraud and would take advantage of people in a stressful situation. This company is HORRIBLE AND SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN. I will be reporting them to the Better Business Bureau. I highly recommend, A-1 Comfort Care for any HVAC. Frank is honest and are not out to rip off the public.
Description of Work: All he had to do, if he was honest was to lite the pilot light instead of trying to rip me off. He did not lite the pilot light instead wanted me to spend unnecessary money.

Did not perform any cleaning as part of the tune and gave me an estimate of $3k for 3 coils clean-up for the 3 year old AC units. Did not bother to change the filters.

Install guys were nice and clean. They did forget to seal the gas exhaust pipe properly. A tech came back out that night to seal the PVC piping after I called them about it. Nice reaction but letting carbon monoxide exhaust leak into my basement in the first palce was not a quality job. The salesperson while polite was not aware that the three zone heating on my existing equipment was not compatible with the new Carrier system to be installed. Rather than confirm it with his manager he stated specifically that there would be no problem and the techs would demonstrate the zone heating before they left. Halfway thru the install the techs let me know that the zone controls would not work with the new system and I had to pay extra to make that work. Ok, lesson learned, never accept what the salesperson says only what they write on the order. Eventually I paid for the new board to be installed. Of course the new board is a special order and a week later and multiple calls I still do not have a date for if and when the install will be completed even though I have paid in full. Why the Install team does not confirm that the equipment is on order and when it might be installed is beyond me. I am patient but they need to keep the customer informed. As to the new Carrier Heat Pump and Gas furnace. Working beautiful now that they have sealed the exhaust pipe.

i purchased 2 units on 06/26/21 for over 30k 1 3ton and 1 5ton heat pumps after installation both units were blown due to poor installation apparently they forgot to vent nitrogen from the lines causing both compressors to fail, it took 2 months to repair and only after i stopped payment on my check, they finally came to install new compressors, they insisting 3ton unit wasn't completely burned out but i insisted they replace both units, wasn't home so i don't know if they infact do both units, within a week the trouble started with shut downs due to condensation from freezing coil from low pressure freon eventual had to replace main lines due to leaks, then i had to call when i found out no filter were installed i've never heard of air conditioning condensers that didn't need inline filters after that came the problem with condensation because of the unit being improperly installed a service person was finally sent and spent 8 hrs reinstalling 1st floor unit this seems to resolve the problem after witch he informed me that 2nd fl unit compressor was blown after two service calls they finally agreed to replace the compressor that was four months ago everytime i call i'm told they're having back order problems finally dicided to get a lawer be aware of this companies bait and switch they will give you a price on top of the line equipment but after checking i negotiated for 18 seer 2 speed but they installed 14 seer low quality product

If I could give a negative star i would. Absolutely horrible! Keep on asking to do a camera that they did 5 years ago and charged 350 for. They left at 11Pm and only fixed half the problem and now 5 days later the problem (the one they so called fixed) is back after we paid over 297 to fix a problem that was not fixed. They are money hungry and are extremely pushy and rude. Will never use again and I want my money back.

I bought a new 5 ton air conditioning unit and two mini-splits for $25K. The 5 ton system leaked for two years and they just kept aiding coolant, refusing to troubleshoot for the leak. After contacting the BBB I finally got them to troubleshoot the system only to find out the coils in the unit are bad. There is no estimate time of arrival for parts. However, they didn't even want to troubleshoot till next spring. AJ Perri is citing manufacturer problems due to COVID, but the system was replaced during COVID. COVID didn't stop them from delaying to take my money. The mini split system also leaked out coolant due to a sloppy installation. I asked for my money back but they refused. STAY FAR AWAY from AJ Perri

Have leak in ac system at end of season, they cameout to refill the freon and charged me all this money to do a leak check with dye to find leak and said to call them at the start of next season to find leak. I call them at start of season and they came out and said that it's impossible to find leak as the dye test had to be done right away, so the freon and the dye which was about $1,000 all was wasted as tech lied or didnt care, which is why big companies like this are bad, as they sub contract work, will never be same person and they just con you out of money because they are big and don't care.

We bought ac unit with 10 year service agreement / warranty and our system is been not working from last few days ,they gave me appointment after 5 days waiting and didn’t resolved the issue when I am giving call they are giving me next appointment after 10 days . Seriously this is really joke that in 5 years first time system not functioning and where we need their help they are busy helping new customers but no obligations to old customers. These guys are crooks. In winter 2022 they came to my house and gave me crazy $2k quote for a $400 furnace repair. Then they charged me $189 for the 5 minute visit. Then they threatened me for 6 months with collections for the fraudulent fee. All while I suffered from long CoVID. Zero stars, do not recommend!

Their repair services took them more than 16 times to do repeatedly. So many things went wrong. They were nasty to us. We actually didn't have to pay for all the repair. It seems like their crew didn't know how to fix it. They have given me a new thermostat but it never worked properly.

They did a very good job. called them 11pm, no one was available at that time but they came early hours the next morning and they cleaned and fixed the leakage, they arrived as early as 7 AM. They got their early and quickly fixed the problem and cleaned it all up.
