The worst part of this whole process was waiting for the permit to get approved. we had central air installed and replaced an outdated furnace. A few days before the installation a technician came out to do an inspection of the area. The installers showed up right on time .They used drop cloths while walking around the house.They explained everything and answered any questions we posed. Outstanding cleanup they made sure everything was up and running. Offered a few fyi's. Overall a great experience. I would highly recommend this company. Very friendly and professional

As soon as sales rep he entered the house he put boot covers on and measured out home to ensure we had the appropriate size unit. We sat down and went over the options, they were able to provide 0% financing and sent the crew to replace the system within a week. When our new A/C arrived it had a very small dent, workers called me out and said they sent for a new unit (impressed since the dent seemed very small and superficial however nice to know attention to detail). Work crew was professional and clean, laid down mats across house to ensure nothing was damaged or dirtied. Although they offer lowest price guarantee I feel it was expensive but value was definitely there. Very large company, great overall service and experience. A few months later, I had one issue with the unit not cooling, called the company at 9pm on a Sunday, they had a tech out by 1030pm and my house cooled shortly thereafter. New unit came with 10yr 100% parts and labor warranty so paid nothing for the speedy emergency call. Large company, you know they will be around to honor it. Overall very happy.
Description of Work: We purchased a new home, and as the summer season approached we decided to use a coupon to have our old A/C system serviced for the pending season. Once the technician was unable to get the unit working at all we had them replace the very old system. AJ Perri completely removed and replaced our central A/C unit, condenser, air mover and all plumbing and electrical included. Complete soup to nuts replacement.

Description of Work: ARE YOU KIDDING ME? BUYER BEWAREI called A J Perri to get an estimate on replacing my central air conditioning system. Immediately I was asked who used the system in the home. I explained that we are a family of five. Their representative then informed me that they would be happy to meet with me AND my husband at a convenient time. When I explained that I am the one who handles the contractors, does the research, actually owns the home and that my husband works 70 hours a week and has no interest in meeting with them, they insisted that he be at the meeting or they would not come to our home for an estimate. Hmmm. You have to wonder. I thought that the rep misunderstood their policy so I asked to speak to the owner of the company. Not available. I kept insisting and finally I got a call back from their "customer relations" manager. She was polite but firm. No way that an A J Perri rep would meet with me unless my husband was available too. Gave me some baloney that everyone needs to be present to discuss their "comfort" levels for the a/c etc. I told her that I was hanging up the phone and calling her competitor and that she was passing on a potentially large job. Who are they to tell my husband that he needs to spend two hours meeting with them during his precious leisure time? And who are they to refuse to meet with just the wife? Postscript - I hung up the phone and called the competition. I am going to replace the a/c with their competitor. (at least a 15k job). By the way, all of the other companies that I contacted met with me alone and did not insist that my husband be there. Also, when I mentioned the situation I encountered with A J Perri - they all knew who pulled that stunt (without me mentioning their name) and they all said that it is because they want you to sign there and then at the meeting and that they will overcharge you by 30%. Now, I am living in an economy where the going is tough. The hard questions need to be asked and the consumer is educated. I don't know what economy that A J Perri is working in but I suggest to you, smart consumer, that you think long and hard before you sign with them.

We passed all the inspections and our new furnace was tested and works well.
Description of Work: We had an oil furnace removed and a gas furnace installed. This included the Public Service hook up and removal of the old furnace. We also had an extra zone installed and an additional heat vent added to our Great Room. They cleaned up after themselves, applied for the necessary permits and we passed all the inspections, plumbing, electrical and fire. We also had future hook ups for gas dryer, gas stove and water heater when needed.

BADLY! An ugly experience!. However, the ultimate fix put me in touch with a fair, competent plumber.
Description of Work: I had a leak (not serious) in my basement water line. I called this heavily advertised service. I was told to have someone come to look at it, I would incur a $47.50 charge. The leak was annoying and had been going for some time. I said OK. The very colorful truck showed up on time. I showed him the problem. And he prepared and estimate to repair of $606.00 plus tax!!!!! I said "you must be kidding". He said "no"!! I said forget it. And then he looked at his papers, and said maybe he could do it for less, offering something in the upper $400's. I said "no" and then was presented with an upper $200 number. At that point, I was really disgusted and told him to do the paperwork for the $47.50 " come out" charge. I was given a package fo clear drains as a "gift" LOL

They are an excellent company, and it started from calling them to the young man coming down. They did absolutely everything to make us comfortable because it was very nerve wracking. They were very well mannered and very well spoken. They were just outstanding people that we haven’t seen in many many years, and we would highly recommend them.
Description of Work: We had a very serious sewage problem, so a young man from A.J. Perri Inc put in a new sewage line from the basement of our house to the outside and also did some plumbing.

While they were very quick to respond and come to the house in our emergency situation (hot water heater broke and flooded part of the house), the estimate was extremely high and the representative was pushy and "sales-y". Close to $3,000 to replace a 40-gallon traditional hot water heater?!?!?! I don't think so. Part of the cost was for "bringing the valves and flue up to code". I brought in a different plumber who gave me a quote on the exact same work: installation of a Bradford White 40-gallon traditional water heater, replacement of valves and flue etc, as well as including a drip pan (not included in A J Perri's estimate) for less than half this cost. I would highly NOT recommend using A J Perri for their unnecessarily high cost.

It went ok. AJ Perri has tuned up my units twice before, very knowledgeable. But on this occasion I just want an estimate on the existing units being replaced. The salesman was experienced and probably knew too much because he gave my home quite a few insults. Who did this, why is that? Derrogatory comments. THey talk about professionalism and not smoking, taking shoes off, punctuality, etc. Add arrogance and insults to the list please. I don't need to pay 15% more (that is what they said), for a nice guy. Give me a few f bombs and a good price. Way too expensive. Don't spend all my time telling me how great you are. Don't recommend new systems then say only do one. Where is your credibility. This is the best part, the pressure sale. I am just educating myself on products and had them come out since they serviced my unit 2 days earlier. So why tell me hey the price is going up 10% if you don't sign now. Really, is this how you do business? Your job is to make people comfortable and want to do business with you, not pressure them before the timing is right. Take your 10% and shove it. Plus your over priced 15% means 25%. See ya !!!!!!!!!!!

Overall, the experience was good except for the lawn repair. They subcontracted that work out; they planted different types of grass, so some of it grows quicker/thicker than other parts. Other than that, everything went well.

Poorly. DO give me the facts, answer my questions, and let me make a decision. DON 'T bully me.
Description of Work: We had to replace our old, oil-burning steam furnace. I called AJ because they've been in business a very long time. The guy came to give us an estimate. He was at first very polite, friendly, professional. But he turned into a used car salesman very quickly. He was at my house for over 2 hours, going over the company history, the services provided, and the price. He wanted me to sign the contract right then, and I told him I wasn't going to, as we were getting other estimates. He got very aggressive and insistent. Very unpleasant. A woman called from the company a few days later and asked how was my experience and I told her that it was a real turn-off. We may very well have gone with them because of their reputation, and after we got several estimates, there were in the ball park. But I would never go with a company that condones that kind of salesman. I am in sales too so I get it. But it was a very unpleasant experience.

The heat was not working at the house that we own and rent out. They came out and replaced a part but the repairman warned me that the furnace was old. Next day or two days later not working again and they came out and replaced a different part. That night the furnace went completely and we had to have it replaced. The night the furnace broke down the tenant heard a loud noise and she said there was smoke. It turned out that the water that leaked out just caused steam. However AJ Perri sent someone out even though it was after midnight. The repairman thoroughly checked the furnace out in order to assure us that there was no danger. All this happened just a few days before Christmas. AJ Perri was able to install the new furnace within a day and the tenants were able to have Christmas at their house as planned.
Description of Work: They installed a new steam boiler and removed the old one.

It took a little longer than I thought , over 2 hours. The repair person was professional and left the bathroom clean. I have also had plumbers before and no one had told me where the water main valve was but he did, which I appreciated. It cost more than I thought and I don't like that they only accept checks. Being cash poor I would have preferred to use a credit card. I accepted a heating contract for $90.00. The repair person then questioned me about my furnace, which I haven't had any problems with, and how old it was. What I did not appreciate was the fact that as soon as my check cleared the company was calling to schedule an inspection of my furnace. I told them that I did not have the money to pay for any repairs at this time but the caller was actually argueing with me telling me it wouldn't cost anything,I had to hang up. Since the furnace was off I thought I would call them in the fall before the heat went on to have it checked. I felt that they heard the furnace was over 22 years old and saw dollar signs thinking they could sell me a new furnace. This is the reason I would not use them again. Being alone and female, I have been ripped off by almost everryone I have hired to do services for me.
Description of Work: I had a leaking toilet tank and on/off valve. I had attempted to repair it myself but forgot to install a gasket so I contacted this company. I also knew I could not repair the on/off valve. The repair man fixed the tank leak and also replaced the internal components as well as the on/off valve. I received an initial estimate of around $400.00 which I thought was exceptional but later was told it would cost an additional $350.00 to replace the on/off valve because it was corroded. I had thought the valve was included with the initial quote. I aIso had a sluggish sink drain and was given a powder to put down the drain. After 5 daily doses the drain is still sluggish as I knew it would be. I had explained that I have had problems with the drains since I bought the house 22 years ago and knew it needed to be snaked. I beleive this was done so I would have to have them back again for another charge.

I was very happy with the entire experience. I had researched via the internet for prices of units and figured costs or labour and I feel that I have made the correct decision with AJ PERRI and will continue to recommend them.
Description of Work: I live in a home that was built in 1962. In preparing for this early Spring, I determined the 22 year old A/C, Central Air was NOT working so I had it evaluated and found via AJ PERRI that the systm was too small for the house i.e. a 1.5 ton central unit and it was decided that a 2.5 ton unit wa necessary for a 1545sq ft. area. I was showed the comparables for various units, but decided that I wanted the CARRIER brand due to durability and warranties/guarantees. On the 20th of March, the PERRI workmen were here the first thing in the morning, in fact, a half hour early to my delight. System was installed completely with all clean up done and system functioning. I was given more than adequate info and instruction, where I learned that the Central Office had upgraded me to a 3 ton unit for NO additional cost. I do not understand the above pipe man's comments that he was overcharged and treated badly as I have used PERRI for 3 or 4 projects now in the last 6 months and they have been superlative! Follow up is timely and completely. My parents use to be taken advantage of with poor quality work and this has not so far been an issue with the work PERRI has put out.

They were very conscientious. They were willing to come back and look at a problem I had after they did the work. Come to find out the problem was not from the work they had done but a preexisting problem that they fixed for free. They also took a look around the house and fixed other plumbing problems I had in my home.

This is one of the most professional companies with exemploray customer service. The technician came right on time he was polite and wore booties as not to walk on my rug. He inspected the baseboard and took care of the problem, all this is less than 15 minutes. I was very impressed!

AJ Perri sent us a card in the mail offering a free furnace inspection. We called and a technician came out. He said that the plenum of our existing furnace was cracked and that this would allow dangerous carbon monoxide gas to enter our home. The furnace and air conditioner were original to the home (nearly 30 years old). Two days later a sales person came out and surveyed our home, and put together a contract for a new high efficiency furnace and evaporator coil (for our air conditioner). The price was high, but Perri offered us 12 months of interest free financing, which helped. About 2 weeks later technicians came out and installed the new furnace and air conditioning unit. Their work was flawless. When the old furnace was removed, I was able to examine it myself, and I could easily see the cracks in the plenum that the original technician had reported. The furnace saves us about 25% on gas. Since the installation I've had to call AJ Perri once due to a water leak. It turns out that there was a crack in the pump used to removed condensation. A technician came out the same day and replaced the pump for no charge. Overall I'm very impressed with AJ Perri service, although they are expensive.

The guy came out fixed one little part and tried to charged me $200.00 and my furnace is still leaking.I called them to come back to fix it and they tried to over charge me to fix it.

They did a great job. Larry Sarber the indoor air specialist was my first contact with A.J. Perri came out and explained the hot water heater, furnace and how everything would be installed to me, measured the rooms so the right size furnace would be put in and based on his professionalist that is why I hired A.J. Perri. Everything that was installed was professional and perfectly done. With the furnace and hot water heater they installed it while I was gone and had it completed before I got home. So I called them and the field supervisor came back out to explain in great detail and how they were installed, how the thermostat works, and I found that to be great customer service. They had a system involved where the field supervisor came out and he instructed the 2 workman to make sure they had instructions of what they were supposed to do. Another guy came in delivered the materials. Every workman that they have are true craftsman. I very highly recommend A.J. Perri.
Description of Work: They have come out a few times and did different jobs for me. They have installed a furnace, hot water heater, and pipes that connect from the furnace to the registers of the Heating & A/C unit. They have also taken out the black flex ducts.

We stumbled across Gilson from a sticker on the old systems. We have used them to occasionally and have been very impressed with their operation, service and customer focus. I've worked in technical support for a long time and she has worked in food and consumer insights just as long. We can both detect when we are being mislead or lied to. Gilson sales and technicians have always been honest, ad up front with about any issues we have raised. They have provided additional insights, tips or options that saved us money or pain when they didn't have to. We decided it was time to replace the hydronic house heating system and the water heater. We called Gilson and explained to the salesman what we wanted. He worked up a proposal and we accepted it. A technician/engineer came over and verified the situation. The work was done close to schedule. The re-plumbing took an extra day. Given the amount of work being done on the piping, moving the system from the center of the basement to the side opposite the stairs, I consider this a non-issue. One nice touch was to leave one branch of the cold water supply to the old water heater. This branch supplies the water to the ice maker in the refrigerator/freezer directly above in the kitchen. They left the manuals out while installing and I read them. When I had questions from reading the manuals, they were happy to answer my questions. When the systems were installed, tested and running, they walked me through the entire system and answered all my questions and concerns. The system uses a thermostat on the indirect water heater. I had seen in the manuals, a temperature sensor option that provided additional capabilities for managing the hot water heater. I asked and received the cost of the sensor. The Gilson people hadn't considered the sensor and the low cost surprised them. On my request, they order and sent me the sensor which I will install someday. I found this willingness to work with me on something outside the box very refreshing! I'd like to think that they have looked at this option for future systems. A week after they were done, I realized the radiator in the attic weren't working correctly. A technician came out and between the two of us we fixed the problem. There had been an oversight in the wiring work supplying poser to the fans in the radiators. Mistakes happen, I was completely satisfied with the response from Gilson in getting a technician out to me quickly and with the attitude and responses from the technician. The fact that he would listen to my thoughts and ideas about the issue, even though my profession is software, was a comforting sign of a consummate professional that has the backing of his company. Since then, the system has been a welcome non-item in our home life. Well, that isn't quite true. The reduction in our gas bill has been quite noticeable. And in cold weather we will occasionally see a wisp of steam out of the dining room window from the exhaust as as it further condenses in the cold air. A pleasant reminder of the new system.
Description of Work: Gilson gave us a proposal that included moving the heating and hot water systems from the middle of the basement to the far wall. The work included dismantling and removing the old equipment, reworking the plumbing to the new location, installing, configuring and testing the new systems. All was done quickly, and professionally.

We called and told the lovely woman on the phone that our boiler had been making a banging sound for the past couple of weeks. She said that she would send a team over that day to take a look at it. We got their "special rate" of $89.00 for an estimate or a heating tune-up. Two men came and told us that it was unrepairable. They said that we would have to make an appointment with a salesman. I figured that they must be reliable. I see their light green vans all over the area. Other people are using them. The salesman came over and sat down with my husband and me. He said that we would need a new boiler, new hot water heater, chimney liner (in order for it to be up to code), some new pipes.....and the list goes on. The estimate from AJ Perri was about $15,500, but with government rebates it would come to $13,700. If we were going to spend this kind of money we thought that we should get another couple of estimates. To make a long story short.....we had someone replace the broken spring in the pump. We found out that this was what was making all the noise. The new spring cost $22.00 and we were charged $50.00 for someone to install it. The actual amount that it cost us to fix it was $72.00. I do not know how these people can sleep at night. They are running such a scam. This is not an isolated incident. After going out to dinner with a few couples, my husband and I found out that AJ Perri had done this to other people that we know. One family in Red Bank and one in Oceanport. Our heating system has been working perfectly. Please don't use them. I'm sure that you work hard for your money. Good luck!
Description of Work: Our boiler was making a knocking sound. Sounded like someone was banging on a pipe with a wrench. This happened on and off for about 2 weeks before we called AJ Perri.
