AJ Perri

The service was great along with the price. The only thing wrong was they punished me for not taking the $7500 deal. We also had $185 water bill because our toilet was leaking. Their customer services was not good. I had them two or three times for various reasons. The had two guys and both of them were very personable. They also knew what they are talking about. They were very nice. They did a good work including the camera work. They explained to us everything that we needed to know. I told them that I do not have $7500 and I had no way to get it. The girl told me that I had to pay them $402 because I did not use their service.

The job was complete in about 20 minutes. I asked about a drip in my bathroom sink and was told it would cost about the same amount $350.00. The plumber said the whole thing would need replacing...I decided to hold off. I really feel I was genuinely ripped off. Taking into account the cost of the hardware and the time spent on the job the price was exorbitant. Then for months after their service I was getting advertising promotions about 3 times a week. I called and asked them to please take my name off their mailing list...I was being inundated. About 6 months later friends of mine needed a new water heater and an entire heating system. They got 3 estimates for the job...A J Perri was the most expensive...about $1000.00 more than the other two. I would never use them again nor would I recommend them to anyone I know. I don't know how there could be such a huge price differential in services. Maybe to pay for all that advertising. I still have the same faucet in my bathroom sink. If I tighten the knobs firmly it doesn't drip...it was more than 3 years ago that I inquired about it...

When calling to confirm the appointment i asked if I would receive a detailed written estimate on the proposed work (as I received without even asking from other contractors I spoke with). I was informed that they "don't do that" and would only provide a document when we had a contract ready for signing with them. When I objected I was told that the salesperson could "jot something down for me on a piece of paper". I said that wasn't acceptable and the scheduling clerk told me the the appointment wouldn't cost me anything so I should go ahead. I pointed out that it would cost me my time on a Saturday morning and cancelled. I don't know how they expexct you to choose them from among other contractors with nothing in hand for comparison.

They were phenomenal and I loved them. We have had many contractors over the years that we have been dissatisfied with. But they were one of the contractors with whom we were satisfied with. We have a service contract with them for our yearly maintenance of the generator. They have already been here to service it once. They came another time when we had a black out and we didn’t have the right oil for the generator that powered the entire house; it was a very strong generator. We called them and they brought the oil. They actually had the oil there so that we could continue running the generator. We were new at using it and didn’t know that it needed a specific type of oil. I can't say enough about them; they were great.

Technician stopped by and performed service

I was very pleased with the entire process. Presentation was professional and lasted about 1-1/2 hrs. The technicians showed up exactly on time the date the work was to be done. The crew completed everything within 5 hrs and the work area in my basement was left clean and neat. We are happy customers

Very fast, very professional and very efficient.

Suggested the best package to fix our toilet by doing a toilet tune-up instead of a standard fix. The price was actually better then what it would of been with just fixing the problem and it upgraded some parts of our toilet as well. The plumber was great. Very professional and nice. I will always call AJ Perri for anything that comes up because their team is always very knowledgeable and helpful.

Came and did the work on the weekend so we could be home. Was able to replace the corroded tub faucet and handles by going through the back of a linen closet instead of ripping up the tile wall, which another company insisted on doing. Answered all of our questions and was very professional. Replaced our sump pump last month on a Sunday-and replaced it with one that was more appropriate for our iron-heavy ground water.

Made an appointment with John Sorrentino, who was very responsive. He spent a lot of time explaining the process of getting a generator. Price was reasonable and generator installation was scheduled without a hitch. Installation went well, except the team didn't do such a good job cleaning up - no tarps inside, no vacuuming. A quick call to John and he insisted that the team return to clean up, which was a nice touch. Graded B's because of the minor things - initial cleanup problem above, office staff needing too much guidance (a part was backordered, and we had to keep calling back to check if it had arrived, and they even suggested that we could install it ourselves - a job that involved electrical work). More attention to such details would have garnered an A.

We also used (and are using) A.J. Perri for HVAC renovations. We plan to do another review of the HVAC work. In terms of plumbing (and in general terms as well), the company is excellent. The one caveat is that they tend to be on the expensive side. BUT one gets what one pays for. And Perri is really first-rate. Unlike fly-by-night contractors who work on their own and only have a cell phone (and no published address), Perri has a physical address, secretaries who answer the phone, superior technicians, and fast response time. All who have experienced the frustration of dealing with contractors who show up sometimes and don't show up other times-- Perri IS NOT ONE OF THOSE CONTRACTING COMPANIES! They do excellent work, and they will be there for you when you need them. They stand by their work. Their technicians are courteous and helpful and they answer questions. With all the frustrations we have experienced as a result of a major catastrophe, A.J. Perri is the ONE company that we've dealt with that has reduced our anxiety. We KNOW we are in GOOD--EXCELLENT hands with them. And we know that the won't abandon us. They stand by their work. Since this is a review of the "plumbing" part of the company, we can say without any hesitation that the plumber with whom we have dealt is the most competent, nice, reliable, and caring fellow we have ever met. If you want a cheap quote and a cheap job, go with another company. If you want EXCELLENT and caring service, there's no contest--go with A.J. Perri.

We purchase the Infinity matched units because they were advertised as the most advanced, efficient, quiet, and top of the line. With that efficiently comes complexity. The installation was done very well and professionally. But, within five minutes of the technician leaving, the unit tripped on errors. Long story short, they came back seven times, to do everything from change all of my duct work, to add additional supply ports. They did do all of this at no cost to me, and never gave me a problem about the multiple trips. They were very responsive and professional. I just didn?t want to have them over any more. Bottom line, they brought the Carrier Factory Rep, balanced my system, and finally no problems for two months now. While there were multiple return trips to get it right, they were always concerned and professional. I will continue to use them and recommend AJ Perri.

After flood waters went down AJ Perri arrived very quickly after we contacted them. They did everything possible to get new furnace installed as quickly as possible. For the couple of days we were without heat, they lent us space heaters. After installation they were very cooperative about working with insurance company and us to settle claim.

It was great from the start to the end.

They are punctual. They do recommend that I change the water heater at some point and the price they quoted me was very high. I would recommend them to others and they are very nice, considerate and professional.

Everything with this visit went well. They were early and the work did not take long.

It was time for our annual maintenance check up. After the check up the technician advised we needed a new capacitator because the one we had was weak. He also said our compressor was nearing its end and we should replace it. He said the cost of the capacitator was $375.00 and he could do the job in 10 minutes because he had the part in the truck. Regarding the compressor, a salesman would come out and take measurements and go over the best options for us. He said the salesman would need 90 minutes of our time. I told him to replace the capacitator and we would schedule an appointment for the compressor. My neighbor, who is a retired PSE&G employee, told me the moment he saw the A.J. Perri truck, he should have come over. Afterwards, I told him about the cost of the capacitator, He told me that part costs between $7-20, depending on the distributor. He told me A.J. Perri is known to have a poor reputation. The technician never provided me with the old part that was replaced or the box for the new one. Needless to say, the next day I put a stop payment on my check to them and canceled our yearly maintenance agreement. We also canceled our appointment for the compressor. We called the company and told them we weren't paying $375 for that part so they agreed to $200. Still a lot of money. They said they charge a flat rate. ??? I reviewed Yelp and saw the same reviews and how poorly treated other customers were.

He completed the job in about 15 minutes and then tested to see if there were any new leaks.

I didn't like them. I invited him and he had to give me an idea about some minor changes when I was putting a new kitchen and the estimate was astronomical to the nickel and dime amount of work that was being done and it was totally disgusting. They made a request of $2700 of work that ultimately got done for less than $200. It was not even in the same ballpark, it was pathetic. They said, "Well, we work at flat rate," and I, "That's fine," and that was better than jerking around and he came up with that rate remove the old dishwasher and put in a new one which I own. They go here quickly, I guess, I called for an appointment and they came by the appointment time and there's no problem with that.

They came in at 8:00 in the morning and by 3:00 or 4:00 they were working out the door, the job completely finished

Overall I was extremely satisfied with Steve's work. He explained what he found once he started his initial work on the toilet and showed me the damage that was occurring do to the toilet being installed incorrectly. Additional work needed to be performed on the flange due to corrosion. Steve pointed out and even showed me the rot that was occurring. He also explained what was causing the leak from our connections to the washing machine and was able to address that. He also pointed out other issues he discovered and explained the potential damage these issues could cause and the likely hood of those damages happening so that I could make an informed decision on whether to get them fixed now or later.

I was impressed from the initial call and scheduling to when the service was performed.

They completely redid the under sink plumbing in our kitchen. They were fantastic and did a great job.

They changed the filter in my furnace and completed a tune up. They did a fantastic job.
