AJ Perri

Our a/c stopped working (of course during one of the hottest times of this summer!) and we were told by one company that the motor had failed. They did not recommend fixing it since our unit was about 30 years old. We got 4 estimates all together (they all agreed it was not worth fixing). We chose to go with Gilson and Sons which is now A.J. Perri. I had a very positive experience with them from the initial contact and appointment through the installation. Their pricing was consistent with the others. They called me back immediately from my request on Angie's List. I was able to get an actual appointment time, not a window of time, and the "comfort consultant" was on time. He was helpful and knowledgeable and able to offer several options to solve our a/c issues. The installation crew was early. They were courteous and professional. They covered the floors where they would be working. They removed the old unit and installed the new unit quickly and efficiently. They cleaned up when they were done and explained all the work to me and answered questions. I highly recommend A.J. Perri.

The professional from AJ Perry gave us couple of options as the steps to remediate the issue, and he was able to give us the right info with details, answered all our questions. He was very friendly, respectful, professional and the job was done in no time. I will definitely use AJ Perry for all my plumbing needs and will also recommend to my friends/neighbours.

We engaged AJ Perri to fix clogged kitchen sink by purchasing $89 deal on Angie's List. The person that came in was professional and did the job well. We ended up unclogging a bathroom sink as well. The only negative is that the company kept rescheduling as they were running behind schedule. To compensate for the inconvenince they gave us $25 credit, which we applied to the bathroom sink.

Poor service. They are very expensive in comparison to other companies. Not sure what they are really charging customers for if they are not fixing the problem. Called because I noted water leakage from underneath the furnace. Tech came in, but appeared to be really confused, he saw the water and immediately said he was not sure what or where the problem is. He said he has never seen that before. Which surprised me since I called a professional. Being a home owner I have had this problem with other furnace. So I had to tell him that the problem is with the condensation system of furnace. I said it may be clogged from somewhere, and I had cleaned the condensation pump recently. So I told him I have seen this many times, in the past I had replaced a condensation pump. So there goes, I had already told the professional what the problem is. He said it cannot be clogged. He opened up a cover, and said the condensation pan is very slightly clogged, and very lightly pumped with nitrogen air for 1-2 seconds, but wasn't sure if that was the problem source. Tech then said he is going to replace the old small plastic pipe with new one. He didn't want to mess with looking for where iit was clogged. That's it and billed me $145+ for the service, which did not include their $89 service call charge. He said if I needed to change condensation pump it would be $300, but he did not have any condensation pump in the truck either. So the problem was never fixed. I called for leakage and he left me with the leakage, but charged $145 +. I bought the condensate pump for $60 and replaced it , which fixed the problem. What surprised me most was the tech said he has never seen this before. I've seen it about 5-6 times in the past. So not sure what they are charging for. Not a good service.

The kudos here goes to the plumber, Danny, who came to do the work at my Mother's home. Job well done! The pipes in her home are old and at risk of breaking when it comes to snaking the drain. We were clearly made aware of the risks, but of course had no other choice but to take them! Danny carefully and skillfully attempted his first go at clearing the drain to no avail. After some discussion of the expensive possibilities we were facing, he quickly thought of and attempted an alternate route - low and behold - the clog cleared. This was not luck, this was experience and the will to persevere. Saving my Mom money on more costly repairs was a blessing to say the least. I assume clearing drains is the least favorite of tasks with little profit (though possibly the most common?) and I'm sure some would scoff at harder to clear clogs and quickly take the opportunity to make profit on a bigger job. Not only was our problem solved, it was at the best price around. I was very happy and will most certainly call upon AJ Perri in the future.

The technician was very through and professional. I would definitely use their service again and recommend to others.

The initial installation was done on June 1, but shortly thereafter I called to report it was not properly cooling the house; they came out promptly to get it working on June 9 to get it working properly, which I thought it was when I left for a two-week vacation the next day. Upon returning on June 23, the house was hot and not cooling properly. I immediately called AJ Perri, and they came out the very next day and decided the outside condenser unit which had been installed was not working properly. The next day they came back out to install a new outside condenser unit.. It cooled the house for a while, but soon it was once again not cooling properly. On July 29 they decided something was wrong with the indoor coils installed back in November (even though they had worked properly with my old outside condenser unit before it was replaced in June). The house cooled alright initially but within a few hours was once more not cooling properly. The next day (July 30) they returned and replace the entire central air conditioning unit--both inside coils and (a THIRD) outside condenser unit. Since that fix, the air conditioning has worked flawlessly. Obviously replacing the coils separately from the outside condenser unit (at the same time the system was converted from freon to the new type of environmentally friendly coolant (Puron) caused unanticipated and difficult-to-diagnose problems. It was extremely frustrating, but I was impressed with AJ Perri's responsiveness to do whatever it took to resolve the problem! (Clearly, they didn't make much of a profit off of this transaction, having used up three sets of coils and three condenser units to get it working properly!) So my overall rating was favorable.

The work was done promptly, expertly, and to my full satisfaction. A five-year maintenance contract was included in the product and installation price. I didn't get other company estimates (have been dissatisfied with the company that had installed my last central AC unit 19 years ago); so I'm not sure how competitive the price was (although based on what I paid 19 years ago, it seemed okay), but I was very impressed with the professionalism of the sales presentation, and overall was fully satisfied.

I was very happy up until the salesman came and tried to sell me.

the job took all of 20 min to perform. he spent most of the time talking to me; I guess to say he was at the house for an hour. then he tried to get me to have him check my water heater.

The service was absolutely terrible and extremely over-priced. The labor was more than the cost of the faucet and it leaked after the installation.

The job went smoothly starting from phone call to set up the appointment , salesman to the installers. Very knowledgeable,professional and courteous. So happy with my new furnace!!!!

Called and they sent a tec out that same day. Very knowledgeable and personnel. The price a bit high I thought but never the less the job was done and right.

The service went very good. The workers were courteous and took care of everything right away. I would recommend them. They were good.

After getting an email response. We needed to correct the phone number we provided. When we called we were told they don't service this part of Ocean County

One of the drains in the bathroom was clogged. I saw the AngiesList deal and purchased, they were able to come the same day and unclog the drain. He left no mess and the drain has been fine ever since.

Their estimate was $6000 more than other quote received. For same equipment specs. Salesman had so many discounts. Started at a cost of $19,000. Their final cost estimate was $14,000. Only paid $8000 to another company.

Called up for an estimation on heating/cooling replacement. After 5 hours discussing i was given with an estimation of 24K excluding rebates which is ridiculous to compare to any other company providing the same service in the market. How can 2 professional heating and cooling companies come up with 10K difference in estimation. I am still thinking. After my experience with them would i refer them to anyone? Probably no. All i suggest to everyone is, do not rush sign on anything in the first visit no matter how many rebates they give you.

Our drain specialist arrived and first tried snaking the clogged toilet. When that didn't work, he went to the basement and uncapped the side of the drain pipe, drained all the water out, and determined that the clog was further down. He then used the electric snake and found the clog. He was polite, and knowledgeable.

The answering service took the details of the problem and relayed them to a technician, who called very shortly. He walked us through potential temporary fixes, saving us the $179 middle-of-the-night emergency visit fee. He stayed on the phone for at least 20 minutes. The technician was able to describe what could help very clearly, evidently was very knowledgeable about water heaters (one of the problems). He also said that it would take a plumber to work on the sink, whom he could have sent. AJ Perri called early in the morning, as promised, to set up an appointment. They were clear about explaining their pricing, that there is a service visit cost, plus each task is billed separately, rather than by the hour. They were professional and helpful. I didn't go with the appointment scheduled only because I found someone who could come out earlier in the day. I offered to pay for the time they did spend on the phone, which was substantial, but they said that wasn't necessary. Just be aware that daytime calls may take a little while to be answered, and that there is a main answering staff, then a line they will transfer you to for scheduling.

Wouldn't even look at it because of the parts from price phitzer and told me I would have to replace.

The people that came to give me an estimate on a new system were horrible. Strictly sales pitching. One guy was training a new guy on how to hard sell. He answered my questions with rehearsed answers. Spoke to me like I was a moron. Very condescending. Told me I could have a discount if I ordered right then on the spot. I said I was getting estimates and would get back to him. He refused to give me any kind of price until I committed to using them. When I finally insisted on a price, he snapped, "$9500". Needless to say, we did not use AJ Perri. Our old system lasted all of last summer. We had it replaced this April (2015) by a local company (Cranford Plumbing) who were wonderful. It took only two days, they did a beautful job and it was $2300 less than the AJ Perri estimate.

I purchased a Big Deal with them which turned out very well.

I guess their services were good because my wife didn't raise any complain.
