AJ Perri

A.J. Perri was very professional and honestly assessed the problem. They were on-time and replaced the unit in excellent time and I would absolutely use again and as a matter of fact they will likely replace my AC unit when I decide to do it.

He could just fix the problem, no replace the unit

Called to ensure they could clear our kitchen drain that- Murphy's law being what it is- clogged right before Christmas with family coming over. Saw deal on Angie's list, and scheduled it on the phone with them. Despite it being Christmas eve, they were able to send Danny on over and he was great. Took care of the clog, and noted an issue which will eventually need fixing. Very satisfied and would use again.

AJ Perri is likely the most professional, neat and courteous service provider that I have EVER had the pleasure of working with. They are not always the least expensive, but you pay for what you get in my opinion. This was a relatively simple job, but they were at my house for about an hour. This was a "special Angies List Deal" and I have paid other providers as much as $170 for the same job and received quotes well over $200. I used AJ Perri to replace my air conditioning system a few years back. They were able to offer NO INTEREST financing for 3 years (through Wells Fargo). They did an excellent job then and I would never hesitate to use them again. The BEST PART? They COMMUNICATE! No waiting around GUESSING when they will arrive. They give you a window and then call when the technician is on his way- usually with a 30 minute notice.

I had 4 other estimates and they were like $20,000. The guy came in at $45,000 to replace an air conditioning. In the attic is my son's closet. As he was looking in the attic, he sat on a shelf and completely broke the shelf and the closet and destroyed the whole inside of the closet. He didn't do any work. After what he did with the closet, he should have come with at least a reasonable quote. He gave me a price of $45,000 and everybody else was $20,000. I ended up getting it done for $15,000. I don't know if this guy was a salesman or trying to get us for a ride. The company was completely not reputable. He was about an hour late. I would never use them again and I would never recommend them to anyone.

The people who came and did the work weren't able to execute exactly the way the salesperson had thought they would be able to. So, they also excavated a bit inside the house. The salesperson could have been more knowledgeable about execution. They did the work the day after Thanksgiving. They contacted the Bloomfield plumbing inspector the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. We just talked about it the Saturday before. But, we expressed concern about, "Will you be able to arrange an inspection?" They said, "Oh, yeah. That will be no problem." It was a problem. They had to excavate at the street and they had to pour new concrete. We expressed concern about, "It's winter. We know there are sometimes problems with it needing to be a certain temperature for concrete." They said, "Oh, no." They actually sub-contracted out that work. The person that they sub-contracted out to couldn't do it for a few months because of the cold. AJ Perri was not in contact with us about it. When we contacted AJ Perri inquiring, they said, "Oh, the sub-contractor is supposed to be in contact with you. Basically, it's not our problem." It's annoying. It's the classic case of what you're sold being different than what you get because the person selling is not the person delivering. I would tell other Angie's List members to ask about inspection timing and insist they make inspection arrangements before starting work. They should know that they don't take responsibility necessarily for their sub-contractor's work.

It was good. We got a lot of information and the person that came was very experienced. The price he quoted is not within our budget, but they had a very good conversation with me. They spent enough time. They are good.

They had no idea what they were doing and basically, all they wanted to do is sell me a service contract to use them for a large amount of money. So I basically did not use them but I had to pay them just to come out to the fact to tell me that didn’t know how to hook the Wi-Fi thermostat up. They charged me for approximately about $200 and they left me with nothing hooked up.

It went fine. They were fine. They were professional. They were neat. They were clean. They did exactly what they said. They were great. That was fine. They did everything well. They were very good. They were very professional. 'A' means the best. I think they were very competent and very good. They did everything the right way.

It cost me $375. They said it was the wrong kind of pipe that wasn't big and heavy enough to withstand within the wall. The man was very nice. I thought the price was high. It's working. The technician was very nice.

He said they couldn't tell me how much it would be over the phone but there would be a minimum fee for coming out. The technician came out and he started pointing out a lot of things and said they needed repaired like piping. He said it would be $998 to change the faucet. If we got our own faucet it would be $400. I asked him if he could fix the faucet rather than replace it. Another technician came and said that to change it, it would be $998 but if we bought our own faucet it would be $300. I called several other vendors and they were only charging $100-200.

Booked appointment online with a coupon which was promptly confirmed by their office the next day via phone. Plumber arrived a bit late due to unfamiliarity with our location, but this has happened before with other providers and was excusable. Unfortunately our drainpipe was not too cooperative and required two attempts at snaking it out before returning to proper drainage. Despite the mounting frustration, our plumber remained professional and stuck it out until he saw the job through, which we very much appreciated since the alternative could have ended up being an expensive return visit with multiple plumbers.

I've had a feeling over the years that AJ Perri was absurdly overpriced, but didn't do my homework. I did this time, fortunately, Had them in to price out a furnace replacement. The price they quoted was more than three times the national average. Brought in another company for a quote that was a fraction of what AJ Perri quoted us at. While they're selling us, telling us that they're giving us a 10 percent discount if we sign immediately and it won't be available after that. Then they call back the next week, discount in effect, offering to take another $1000 off the price. Which is easy for them to do considering what a ripoff their price was. Don't hire AJ Perri. Nothing but con men.

Very well. He was very respectful and did not do anything I did not ask. I thought his estimated prices for additional plumbing work were unusually high, so I did not contract for other services. However, I have not compared prices and AJ Perri may be well within the norm for pricing. Just oo expensive for me at that time.

They offered an Angies List Special. Was very satisfied with price and service. My only recommendation is to phone them to schedule the appointment. Faster than waiting for them to get in touch with you.

classic bait and switch - paid for a drain cleaning for my tenant and the service man calls and says I need a j-trap for $341. Are you kidding me - what do they charge $1,000 an hour? this is the second time I called them and got an outrageous price - stay away. spoke to several people in management they were downright rude.

The plumber was very friendly and professional; all the staff that contacted me was. However, I waited almost 1 week (about 5 days). They gave me a 2 hour window (5 pm to 7 pm), some called me at about 6:15 pm to let me know the plumber was 30-45 min away, but the plumber didn't show until about 7:30 pm. So, I think either time management or better communication is in order. Still not terrible compared to my past experiences with others. I would recommend and use them again :)

Everything went pretty smoothly. During the first trip, the technician came on time and did a great job investigating the issue is within the inducer motor and pressure switch. Since it was Saturday afternoon, they can't confirm the factory warranty until Monday. So he left with just collecting the trip expense. Monday, the company called again with the quote of the labor and warranty processing fee since parts are covered. We agreed on that. On Monday night, the 2nd technician showed up and finished the replacement in an hour. Something I wanted to point out is that, the first technician told us clearly that the trip expense will be deducted from the second charge . However, the second technician seems unaware of that. We have to call back the office the next morning. Jemie from QA took care of the deduction over the phone. Another thing is that they charge warranty process fee, $75, even the parts are covered warranty. They gave a quote of $1006 for the parts need to be replaced if without warranty which I think it is a little bit expensive. Overall, the experience was good and we got heat back again! Charges: Trip charge: $89, (Refunded) Labor: $144 Warranty process fee: $75

Here is a reasonably accurate timeline. Judge for yourself whether my grades above are appropriate. At time of making appointment: Me: "Hi. I would like someone to come by and look at my heating system; especially the circulating pumps" Perri staff: "Certainly. How about our summer annual maintenance package?" Me: "Ok. Does it include the circulating pump maintenance? I think they need to be oiled on a regular basis." Perri staff: "I talked to a manager. The pump is not included but we'll give you 12% off the maintenance. The technician will give you an estimate on the pump when they get there." Me: "Ok. Thank you. Please make sure you note that the pump is what I am really concerned about." Perri Staff: "Yes sir, we will." On day of appointment: Perri Staff: "Technician will be there in 30 min." Technician arrives 75 min later. Traffic. Stuff happens. Would have been nice to have been given an update though. Note punctuality gets a reasonably high B grade. Tech: "Is one unit in the attic and the other in the basement?" Me: "No, both boilers are in the basement." Tech: "It will take 30 min each and then I will need 10 min of your time." Me: "ok" 60 min later. Tech: "Some parts need to be replaced. You need about 5K of repairs. Better off getting new systems. Do you want to make an appointment for someone to come and give a free estimate?" Me: "Ok, but lets put everything back as it was. I am running late so lets schedule the appt call for later in the evening." Tech: "Ok." 20 min later. My thermostats have no power, and the heating will not turn on anywhere in the house. Call Perri. Me: "There is no heating in my house." Perri Staff: "Yes sir. Do you want to make an appointment for the estimate to replace the units?" Me: "Do you not listen? The tech left 20 min ago. I had heating before he arrived. I have no heating now. Something needs to be fixed. I have a 1 year old child whom I have no intention of letting freeze." Perri Staff: "Yes sir." Transfers me to scheduling. Perri Staff: "Sir, when would you be available for the free estimates?" Me: "Do you not listen to your customers? I need my heating fixed." Perri Staff: "Yes sir. We can have someone there between 11 and 1 tomorrow." Me: "I do not want someone here tomorrow. I need someone to come now and fix my heating so that my family doesn't freeze overnight. Since everything worked before your tech arrived and it doesn't after he left, I expect you to take responsibility and get someone here to fix it now." Perri Staff: "Sorry sir. We are booked up and cannot get to you until tomorrow." Me: "Really? That is all you have to say? Forget it. I am going to get someone else to fix it, and I am reporting this on Angie's List" Summary The really funny part of the whole experience? Every time I called, they answered with "How can I provide excellent service today?" Really, the only part that bothers me is that there is no acceptance of responsibility. Arguably I have an old system, and some repairs may be necessary. To leave me without heating overnight? Unacceptable. At the very least, they could have walked me through some basic diagnostics if no-one was available to come immediately. Note that the main reason for the service call, the circulating pumps, were not addressed in this entire episode. 40 year old company with an excellent service record indeed. Disappointing. Very disappointing.

I would never use them again for toilet work. They charged me 214 just to change the bolt and washer in the toilet tank which was leaking.

As always, AJ Perri does a fantastic job and as always, very professional. Removal of old HWH and new install took about 3 hours. I would recommend.

My first surprise..... Gilson was bought by AJ Perri.... but the person answering the phone asked me if I was prepared for a great service.... She kindly explained that AJ Perri had recently acquired Gilson and they are much bigger now, offering more services.... and so on. So I decide to have a shot, after all I though that my question was a simple one. A technician was available and few hours later he was in my place, somehow ontime. Nice guy, systematically looked the entire system, checked if AC was working, checked the heating system.... He even explained some electrical things while doing the checks.... But despite his "academical" explanations he also couldn't make the AC work using the thermostat. To be clear for the reader, both systems were functioning. heating was fine but AC apparently with jump start only..... The technician could NOT turn on the AC from the thermostat. So the blaming and the "creative imagination" started. The initial problem was the thermostat, then the wires in the house, then the set up, then the other company who made the installation.... I made myself clear that the guy who inspected my place made both systems work. The realtor made them work....unfortunately the were unreachable due to vacation and I couldn't reach them and it was 95F+ for 3 consecutive days. The technician suggested me to buy a new system, kindly he even booked me a time with a consultant from AJ Perri to provide me options about a new system or by a new wireless thermostat (because this option would be cheaper than break several walls). Note: a new wireless thermostat from Honeywell is about $300... According to him, it would cost me somewhere between 800-900 but I didn't need to spend this money, buying a new HVAC system the thermostat would be "for free". Anyway, after just buying a house the last thing I wanted was to spend another $10,000 in a new HVAC system.... So I thanked him for the job provided, booked the appointment and paid $95 for nothing.... I say nothing because in the morning the realtor emailed me back and told me how to turn on the AC. It took him 3 lines to explain with buttons I should hit to turn the AC on. It is working without any problems since. So dear reader, i was very descriptive here so you can make your own judgment before hiring AJ Perri.

I was horrified on the Sunday morning of Labor Day weekend to find water had poured through the ceiling and flooded the dining area below when I emptied the second floor bathtub. I was going into the hospital for major surgery the next week and was relieved that AJ Perri sent a plumber over immediately. Given that the repairs took 3 hours and it was a holiday emergency call, I thought the price was fair. The plumber completely cleaned up and took all the wet ceiling pieces away with him, even sweeping the floor before he left. He checked out the other upstairs bathroom to be sure it was OK and caulked the toilet which he said had never been done properly.

It took him about a half hour including the trip to the store.

The tech was great. He cleared out the drain and then installed a new trap as requested. Nice guy, very neat. I was not happy with the prices. The cost was $320 to complete the above work which took about 45 minutes at the most. I felt very over charged. I have been charged much less for more completed work. I was informed that they are expensive and it was confirmed by this visit.
