I was really happy with them and the fact that they didn’t take advantage of the situation to their benefit.
Description of Work: I have a really old oven. I have a worry free protection plan through public service. The guy took an extra two days to find the part for me. I called Long Lane and they said they would need to see the part see if they could find it. They could have told me I needed a brand new oven and to replace it, but instead they just sold me the part. They could have charged me a lot of extra money for this service. I called them back to thank them for that.

He went up in the attic (it was the second floor AC unit)....came down and told me that it was my THERMOSTAT that was the problem! I am a woman with no HVAC experience but that diagnosis just did not make sense to me. He removed my $100 LCD thermostat that I had just purchased the year before and put one of the Long Lane thermostats on the wall and left....and took my expensive one with him! I paid a $100 deductible. The problem was not fixed. Still had to sleep downstairs. I did not want to call them back again and get the same shoddy service. I called McAllister and they fixed the disconnected duct. After that experience, I cancelled the home warranty company. I am so sorry that I was there alone with the tech and that my husband wasn't there. I trusted the guy even though what he did didn't make sense to me. I just cannot believe that he was that inexperienced that he would think that no cold air coming out of the vents was a thermostat problem. I believe that he took advantage, wanted to have another call to make more business for the company and wanted to steal my thermostat. I am just so angry with myself for not calling them right away to complain and ask for my thermostat back.
Description of Work: They came out as part of my home warranty. My AC was running constantly upstairs but it was still hot in the house, no cold air coming out of vents. We had to sleep in the livingroom. I told the technician there must be a duct or pipe disconnected.

The tech said he would try and get the parts on Saturday but he wasnt sure if he could. He called me the next morning and said he could get the part and would call me back with a Timeto come by. I never received a call back so since the plumbing supply closed at 12:30pm on Saturday and it was already 11am,I called the main number and they came up with every reason why they probably wouldnt be able to get to it that day-Saturday. I was not happy at all, finally after leaving several messages on their cell phones I got a call from the main office that he would get the part and have someone over at the end of the day around 5pm. They came at 5ish and replaced the part. Had they come on Friday when they said they would sometime before 2pm and new how to diagnose the problem this would have all been avoided. I will never use them for any service again.
Description of Work: Replaced the hot water regulater on the hot water heater. First they removed and cleaned pilot and thermo couple and said that was the problem and left. 5 mins later it stopped working he came back to do further testing and seemed to have limited experience. Since they came on a Friday rrived at 5pm ( we waited all day for them and even took off from work) the parts stores were all closed.

We used Long Lane through our home warranty. First, they did complete a repair, however they were disingenuous with the home warranty company about what the work they did, and the work they did failed in less than a month. And, come to find out, this company is not licensed to do work in New Castle County, and they attempt to charge sales tax to Delaware residents, which is against the law. I've also had them out to do plumbing work. It was a total joke! Their rep totally misdiagnosed the problem, tried to tell us that we have a fully charged main drain line and it would require work from the road front into the house, costing thousands of dollars! Come to find out, the toilet was just clogged about 5" down from the toilet and they weren't using a large enough auger to relieve the clog. Absolutely would not use this company under any circumstances.

Dear customer, as stated in your address the work order that we received from your home warranty, stated as you also show on your complaint that you are in Wilming Del. We are fully licensed in Wilmington. License # 11696. When we came to your home we found a replacement was needed.The home warranty replaced your unit but, as your contract would have it, you couldn't get the free upgrade you expected! In so far as your stoppage. Your toilet waste line was fully charged with waste and your toilet could not be removed at that point due to the secondary damages that would have occured which was explained in detail. We are sorry for the mis understandings howver LIARS WE ARE NOT!

I would not recommend this company. Outrageous prices!! This was NOT an emergency call. I was charged $129 for a diagnostic charge and another $85 for labor for a call that took less than 20 minutes - counting the time for him to write up my bill (the first hour of labor is not included in the "diagnostic charge). I needed a $69 part which was installed in 5 minutes. The repairman, Barry, knew within 2 minutes by pulling the cover off what was wrong with my heater, went out to his truck, got the part and installed it in 5 minutes. I could understand the $129 diagnostic charge if he had to take my heater apart to find the problem but it was right inside the cover .I think this company over charges or took advantage of me as the woman of the house. I would not recommend this company nor use them again. I sell real estate in this area and could have recommended them to my clients, they just lost a lot of future business.

The service call went satisfactory, we were left with an estimate of charges and a time frame of approx a month. Plus we had a coupon from Angie's list although we didn't get to use it toward service call.
Description of Work: We called Long Lane Appliance Repair out to the house to service our LG HE Front Load Washing machine. We, ourselves had already put in approx 150.00 of parts trying to trouble shoot the problem. When that didn't work we call Long Lane, they were able to give us an estimate but at this point we decided instead of putting out more money for something that might not work we'd buy a new machine. Long Lane provided very satisfactory service. Our service call was 89.00 to trouble shoot the problem.

I made the call and within 30 minutes received a call back and he was at my home within the hour. He made the repairs and I was amazed at how reasonable the price was.
Description of Work: He replaced my kitchen faucet and I had asked him to check on the toilet in my sons bathroom, it was loose. He noticed the pipe that went into the toilet was not the proper size, he made the cut and resealed the toilet.

Very pleased with the work and the way it was taken care of
Description of Work: Came home to a wet floor. Refrig leaking. Called LongLane and it was late in the afternoon close to closing time. They came out anyway and tried to fix the refrig. Unable to gave me alternatives but the only one I could live with was to purchase a new refrig. The next day they installed a new refrig. Lost some frozen foods, but was happy with the service and the professional way things were handled.

We requested an estimate for partial remodeling of our bathroom including installation of new vanity top, tub with surround wall plus some tile, toilet, plumbing fixtures and vinyl flooring. A representative came and took information, measurements, etc., but we never received the estimate. All items had been purchased by us elswhere and in our possession at the time. We assume that we never received an estimate because Long Lane would not be making a profit on the fixtures, flooring, etc. The representative had been friendly and helpful at the time of his visit, but he seemed a bit hesitant on a few of the details.

Sorry that it was major parts that had to be replaced on the microwave, it was an expensive model. Now I have a new one and it was installed the same day. Great team there at Long Lane.

One of the things that turned me off, about them is they didn’t provide me any supporting details about their cost. They didn’t provide me the labour and material breakdown in addition they were looking to use inferior equipments for example nowadays we need to use a furnace with 95% efficiency and they were recommending a furnace with only 80 % efficiency. They didn’t provide me time line as how they were going to do things. They weren’t willing to provide recommendations. They were reluctant to give me information on customer reviews.
Description of Work: I got a quote from Long Lane Home Services for HVAC. It was for the whole system upgrade the furnace, the compressor and the condenser.

Description of Work: Excellent response on a service call to an older electrical dryer and follow-up with a new/replacement gas dryer. Fast turnaround on a last-minute order and installation (next day) on a new gas dryer purchase and installation with new duct-work for dryer exhaust . The guy who came out was very nice. He explained everything. He came out the same day that I called to troubleshoot it and then came out the next day to do the repair. The work was covered under my home warranty.

Our kitchen faucet has been leaking so we bought a new and improved (high end ) faucet. My wife and I thought it best to have a professional do the install. Our house is only a year old, we have had a few issues during the course of the year (minor) and the Home builder made sure that whatever was wrong, they fixed promptly. Most of the problems were plumbing related and we felt that it is time to look for another more professional Plumber instead of the Builder's Plumber. We supplied the faucet , Ron installed. The faucet was delivered by mail on one day. That night I emailed Long Lane Plumbing and the very next morning I received a call. A plumber was here at our house for install that day. I am extremely happy with the whole process. Everybody involved from the office to Ron (plumber) all went very well. We have found a new plumber and will continue being a customer of Long Lane Plumbing.
Description of Work: We bought a rather fancy faucet and there are many parts to the faucet and install I felt that a professional should complete the task. The plumber ( Ron ) said that he would be at my house in 30 minutes and sure enough he was here, if not sooner than the 30 minutes. He asked a few questions and then started working on the install. He removed the old faucet and replaced with the new one in a decent amount of time, not rushing. I feel if you rush - you make mistakes. Once he was finished, he went over our new faucet and all of the features this type faucet has. Because of the precision parts this particular faucet contains, he explained how not much force is needed to turn on / off or switch from cold to hot and that too much force can create future problems. He also explained why the old faucet leaked. Any question I had he explained in detail.

To charge over $140 to look at a washer and wine cooler (the wine cooler was not able to be fixed) and for that to not go towards your estimate is crazy.
Description of Work: They charged approx. $150.00 just to walk in the door that amount DID NOT go towards the labor or parts or work done. The person answering the phone was very unprofessional. They did not have the part on there part so it took another week to get it and I had to call and the guy that came out was a different guy form the first and he was very professional and got the job quickly. What bothers me is the cost was ridiculous.

If you compare ours ,to say sears, our service call is 89.95 = SEARS IS 129.99 TO JUST RING THE BELL AND THEN THE DIAOGNOSTIC BEGINS. We try to be cost efective however a service call (including diaognostic ) is a very reasonable charge in todays times. please consider this and maybe we can help you in the future.

I called them about a leaking washer and they returned the called early next day. The service person came and he found out that I needed a new appliance. The service person came after two hours and replaced whatever needed to. They took care of my home very properly.

I would recommend them. It’s a family run business. They are really nice people. I thought I needed a new refrigerator and it was actually something very simple. They could have sold me a new refrigerator. They are really nice reliable people. If the repair was more than $300, I would have bought a new refrigerator because that was my cut off. They could have sold me a new refrigerator and I was anxious to buy one. They are just really nice people and it’s a family business. It’s a father and son business who do the appliance repair. Their honesty and reliability are the qualities that really stand out. They are here in less than twenty four hours which is really appreciated when you’re refrigerator goes down. I also bought appliances from them. Actually they have serviced my refrigerator twice. I will definitely use their services again in the future.
Description of Work: I used Long Lane Home Services for large appliance repair. I last used their services within the last six months. They repaired my refrigerator. I thought I needed a new refrigerator and it was actually something very simple. It had something to do with the condenser. It was a timing piece and so the whole refrigerator freezer had cut off and I was sure it was the condenser. So I thought I had to replace with a new refrigerator. Instead it was some little tiny electronic part that costed $200 plus the labor.

They were wonderful. They were out the same day and fixed it. They were just phenomenal. The price was reasonable because I had done some homework. I liked the manner is which they worked. They were real diligent and they cleaned up everything. They were polite. They came out first thing in the morning when they said they would and they stayed late when they needed to. It wasn't just quitting time and I'm going home. It was so hot and they were determined to get my air conditioner back up and running and they did. Their price was very competitive and I had checked it out. It wasn’t a brand that I knew but I checked it out too. I would use them again and I would recommend them.

Within one hour of installation we realized the upstairs was getting hotter, not cooler. Long Lane came out the next day to declare that we needed a new condenser, a condenser that had been working fine up until the installation. They admitted to no wrong and insisted the timing of the condenser going bad was purely coincidental
Description of Work: Long Lane Home Services was sent by our warranty company to fix our upstairs air conditioner. On the second trip to fix the problem they decided the air handler needed to be replaced. On August 1, 2011 they replaced the air handler.

We did replace airhandler in a professional manner with no complaints from customer. Customer was present during the entire time we were there. We showed the customer that the oil in the compressor was black and the compressor was not going to last much longer.When we left at 910 pm that evening the unit was working and customer was happy. Unfourtally the next morning the compressor did fail, not due to our workmanship but due to age of the unit, System was over 30 years old and it failed due to normal wear and tear,We did go out again at no cost to the customer to verify it was the compressor. The report was immediately given to the home warranty company and we were informed that the member were getting a whole new condenser at no charge

Rob arrived the day before (on the date we were told he would be here) to look at the problem and give us an estimate. He explained everything in complete detail and explained the cost, and possible problems to us. The next day he showed up exactly as promised and worked so hard in the heat and completed the repair. He even mopped our floor were he had made some footprints going from outside to basement numerous times. The repairs were made, the cost was exactly as described. The coupon from Angie's List was honored and Rob was a very skilled and pleasant tradesman. We will definitely call this company again for our plumbing needs and we will not hesitate to recommend to others. A+++++++ in all categories!

I have used this company previously to have wall to wall carpet installed. I was very pleased with the product and the service I received. This last purchase was for carpet remnants. I didn't expect the attention I got nor the professionalism since my purchase was comparatively smaller. I was so appreciative when the sales person took as much time with me as he had previously. The purchase was for a rooming house I own in Pennsylvania. The salesman told me not to worry about getting the carpet over there (I live in NJ) and he had it delivered the next morning for me. It's hard to find businesses who really care about their customers and are willing to take an extra step. I will always buy flooring from this company as well as any other services that I need that they provide. Too bad there's no A+ rating. This company would easily qualify for it. The cost was less than $100.00 but the carpet is of good quality and is beautiful.

They were very helpful and prompt in the service repair, and we later found out that a repair we made earlier on on our refrigerator would have cost half the price if we had called them (unfortunately we had just moved into the area and just called the first company in the phone book.) One of the technicians even fixed our faucet on the sink for no additional cost. Great company!
