Description of Work: Piano tuning - as last tuning was done about an year back, he suggested doing double tuning and so price went up significantly from original quote of 130. Other than the price being too high, the work itself was excellent

Response from East Best Piano
I don't know who and how tuned this piano before me, but it was completely out of tune and has a very low pitch raise. 1/2 a tone or 1 step down. I suggested 2 ways: the cheapest with low pitch $130, or the best- do it twice to standard for 1.5 price: $130+$65=$195. They preferred the 2nd way. Plus action work, I fixed some problems in action. Total=$246. The next time and later it'll be only $130. For my local customers the price for regular tuning is $120. Another good tuners charge $140. And last one: I gave an estimate and explained everything before my work, so they had a choice. Michael/ East Best Piano.

Description of Work: Mr. Gopenko came on the specific day I requested, and arrived within 30 minutes of our appointment time. He set right to work and finished in record time. He was professional, however he went too fast to finely tune my instrument, and there is one interval in the bass that is not tuned to the rest. My piano is 10 years old and I bought it new, and I did not have this problem with my previous tuner. In fairness, he told me that certain strings were not holding their tune well over time, and he could fix that next time, but he didn't have time on that day to do it. He told me on the phone the price would be $120, but then charged me $130, but since he came right away on the day I asked right before the holidays, I did not balk. I will give him another chance, and hopefully he can fix the tension on those troublesome strings.

about the price: in my 2 websites: 1) www.michaelspianoservices.com, 2) www.eastbestpianoservices.com the price for upright piano is $120, for Baby Grand is $130. This customer has a Baby Grand, so $130 is the correct price. M.b. over the phone I forgot to ask what kind of piano and I thought it's an upright. If some questions or problems the customer can call me at any time and I can come again and fix everything. My the 1st goal- the customer should be happy always, if it's not so on this time-sorry.

Description of Work: Michael did an excellent job tuning my piano and was very accommodating with my schedule. Since I own a Steinway, I am a bit particular. I would recommend him very highly and will most likely be using him again.

It went well.
Description of Work: The piano was in my mother's house and it had not been tuned in years. Since my kids were going to spend a week at my mother's house i did not want them to miss practicing their piano lessons. Mr Gopenko was exactly as the the reviews said. He explained everything clearly and did an excellent job. I will be calling him again.

He seems to really know his stuff.
Description of Work: Michael tuned the piano - had to raise the entire piano a quarter-tone and fix several sticking keys - I don't know if it's the humidity or what, but I have a number of sticky keys again already, I'll have to call him back - he's very reasonable and the piano sounds much better (but it was WAY out of tune before and very much overdue for a tuning)

1)The price was not $200,but $170.It was for double tuning=$145 and many sticking keys $25. 2)Key can stuck at any time and now another keys is sticking, not that keys what I fixed. 3)I red this report, called The member and said I can come tomorrow and fix it. This piano wasn't tuned for many years and was completely out of tune and had a very low pitch raise. Not a quarter, but 1/2 a tone and was really needs a double tuning.

Michael has an excellent ear and the piano always sounds close to new when he is done. He performs the service in reasonable time and always satisfactorily. We grade him a "B" in Punctuality only because he has, on occasion, called us to say "I'm in the area -- can I tune your piano today?" but responds professionally when we tell him we can't accommodate a last minute appointment. We had two other piano tuners before Michael (we have owned this piano for 10 years) and have stuck with him for the last 6 years. We will continue to do so. Highly recommended.
Description of Work: We have a Bechstein 6' grand piano in our living room. Given its proximity to the front door (and ridiculous New Jersey weather), it falls out of tune frequently and, at times, disturbingly. Michael tunes the piano regularly (twice a year) but has occasionally responded to off-cycle requests if we're planning a party or simply can't stand the sound anymore.

Our piano is very old and it was moved several times. We checked with angies list and called. He arrived explained what and how he would do the tuning and set about doing it. He was here over an hour. He told us that some of our kees were loose and when he came back he would repair them. He was professional and honest.
Description of Work: He arrived on time, he was courteous, tuned our very old piano by ear, not electronically. A true professional. Highly recommended

I had Michael come to tune my very out-of-tune upright piano. He was extremely professional and clean. He quoted me the $90 price over the phone when I booked an appointment and the only reason I paid the additional $5 was to have him repair a key that was sticking. He informed me of the charge and asked if I'd like him to fix it before he proceeded so I was fully aware of the additional $5. Michael was very polite. He responded to my initial phone call promptly and was flexible with his appointment schedule. He even made it to my house in this horrendous ice storm so I know he is truly dedicated to what he does. I will be sure to continue to hire Michael for future tunings.

Description of Work:"..work on an upright spin it piano". It's not correct. The customer piano is not upright and is not "spin it", it is SPINET. So, correct would be "...work on a spinet piano". All others is good. Mike/E.B.Piano

I saw his advertisement in a local Chinese newspaper. And when I searched on Google, I came across his website: http://www.chinesenj.com/Tuner:MichaelGopenko-Service.html. I was impressed with qualifications, and I contacted him via e-mail. He responded within the hour. When we sent up the meeting, Michael was very professional over the phone. On the day of service, he arrived on time and spent considerable time on each of the pianos as they have not been tuned for a while. Michael was thorough and meticulous, and you can tell that he has a pair of well trained ears. I am very satisfied with his work and will gladly use him again.
Description of Work: Michael helped to tune 2 pianos, $90 each, for a total of $180.

Michael was able to come out the day after I called him. He spent quite a while tuning the piano, which sounds very good now. His charge was $95 for tuning a baby grand and $40 for replacing a broken string. We'll definitely use him again.
Description of Work: Michael tuned our baby grand, which had not been tuned for over 2 years. He recommends tuning every 6 months. He also replaced a broken string, and came back a week later to retune the replaced string after it had time to stretch.

Everythings OK, except one. Twice in text "broken string", but it was 1 double string, really it's 2 strings.

Charged $90 for tuning. Piano had been moved through storage and had 2 stuck keys. Michael identified a problem with the jack springs and was able to reset them without removing the piano's action (very difficult repair for a spinnet model). He charged $15 for the repair. Very punctual and professional,. Based out of Maplewood, NJ but has a wide service area. His website is http://www.michaelspianoservices.com
